Finished up Cyberpunk 2077.

Downloaded the Outriders demo. BUT, in order to play it, you need to sign up for Square Enix or you're locked out. And that's a no-go for me. So, I'll hold off and take my chances on launch.

Downloaded Control. Gonna take that for a spin.

God damn Xbox Series X is amazing.

Going to restart Cyberpunk because it honestly plays like an entirely new title altogether. AC Valhalla is beautiful as well.

Load times are bonkers. Fast travel in AC takes less than 10 seconds from the moment I initiate to where I can move Eivor again.

Booted up Division 2 for shiggles as well, since they optimized it. From launch to controlling my character was only slightly over 60 seconds, which is a HUGE improvement. I avoided fast travel in that game due to loading times taking longer than just fucking walking.

Shit, even video streaming apps work faster, its nuts.

If any of y'all were considering it and can get your hands on one, it's worth it.

The Wii U Mario games are amazing. I only ever played that console a few times at a buddy's. I mean...fuck Nintendo for full price on these ports but whatever.

My all time fav Mario games (that I've played) are pretty equal at #1

Mario 3 (NES)
Mario World (SNES)
Mario Paint (SNES)*
Mario Maker 2 (Switch)*

* Not traditional games

Honorable mentions: Mario 64, Odyssey

Those Cube +Mario games suck

I'm gonna venture into the Luigi Haunted Mansion games soon

Is Paper Mario worth it? I remember liking Yoshi's Island

Just finished my first playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I picked the Black Eagles because they looked the coolest, and while I dont regret that at all, I have some thoughts.

Edelgard is the fucking worst. She is an absolute hypocrite and a narcissist of the highest order and that's why I decided to get her route out of the way first. I did not want to side with her, she turns up being the big bad that was being built up from the prologue and it's not even fun being bad in this game. I hated that the rest of the class were forced into her stupid war and they had to spend part two rationalizing that they were still the good guys even though they were invading struggling Kingdoms and sabotaging peace efforts. Lord Ferdinand deserved better and he wasnt even one of the 20 characters who died a needless death. Petra, Bernie, Dorothea and Lindhardt don't have a bad bone between them. Creepy Akechi Hubert Prompto was a moronic simp. Why does he constantly gloss over that Edelgards group of seemingly non humans are actually responsible for the Crest torture, Jeralt's death, the village massacre, SUMMONING NUKES etc. The church was brutal and weird yes, but Edelgard is pretty much Voldemort. Does she expect me to forget she paid some bandits to kill off Dimitri and Claude while they were on a training exercise with school? Or that she was behind the attacks that got Lonato and his men executed in the first place? Fuck off Edelgard. You're the worst. Stupid piece of shit Flame Emperor ass. Even Rhea doing her best Daenerys at King's Landing impression didn't warm me to the cause. Utter disgrace. Black Eagles will never win the house cup now.

STILL playing AC Valhalla. Game is long as fook, longer than Odyssey, or maybe I'm just doing more side stuff that is making it take longer.

Either way, the game is beautiful on the Series X and load times are nearly non-existent. Unless I am traveling to or from my settlement, it is less than 10 seconds.

Also have UFC 4, but not jumped back in as AC has my attention. Things are getting good and I'm ~ 70-80 hours in

its game play is a point and click visual novel with deep leveling mechanics. there is no combat. least not that you directly control.

you choose what your character interacts with. based on your stats, skills and passives skill checks are performed that determine your available actions and responses and the success chance of both.

the game is expertly written juggling madness and deep dives into sociology and geopolitics. its one of the most unique games ive ever played and being very early in i can already see why it took rpg of th year and that i will be playing multiple times.

do i reccomend it? i dunno. its really out there and not having traditional combat is going to turn a lot of people off.

Started this and put a few hours into it. Having a fun time with it. It definitely sets itself apart from the other looter shooters out there.

I do recommend doing a bit of research before you play. Once you pick your class, you really gotta play as that class or you're not getting far.

Yeah, its a fucking blast though. Started 3 of 4 classes, and stuck with the tanky one, can't remember what it's called.

Super fucking strong though. Hold up Deflect bullets for 8 seconds, unleash hell on everything on screen. Think I'm level 15 or something like that, definitely fun.

REALLY like the aggressive style of the game though. I have to break my "hide behind cover" mentality from The Division 2 that's been ingrained in my head for a couple years. DEFINITELY shines the more aggressive you are. Cannot recall the amount of times I've been on the brink of death just to get a multikill and instaheal back to 100%.

it is vital to know how your class heals, each of them have specific requirements which kinda force-teaches you how to play the class.

Baldur's Gate III.

Game I was waiting for since like 2000 when Baldurs Gate II came out. Was worried that it was going to suck, like what the team did with Pillars of Eternity, but it was handed over to Larian. I did play Divinity Original Sin but couldn't get into the combat.
Now that I finally got a desktop PC that can run it, it is absolutely amazing. Having a blast. Downloaded it and played for 2 hours and thought I was only playing around 40 mins. Deff worthy of the Baldur's Gate name, and its only in early access. Early access is often early ASSess, but, I would recommend anyone of the fence with this one title to pick it up.

writing is smart and pushing into new territory for gaming. it can be wildly funny and really delivers on excellent call backs at unexpected times to really catch you unexpectedly for great comedic effect.

game is insane. in the best way. not afraid to get weird and relishes doing it.

leveling system is brilliant. plot is smart and really rewards you for diving deep into the mythos.

Very enjoyable for one of these modern attempts at an old school turn based jrpg. Lots of qol upgrades here that I wish were in games back then. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

Almost finished with Wolfenstein 2 and the game has been pretty good so far. A few sections are a bit too trial & error heavy for my liking and learned the hard way about needing to have good timing with doing manual saves.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary arrived in the mail yesterday and also quickly learned the hard way that the Switch's Joy Cons are not ideal to play those classic games. 3 is a fucking horror show. Ahead of its time in many way but the hardware simply couldn't handle it, trying to change your character's job was a nightmare, just bogged down in technical issues. I've said this before but I died once at the end of the final dungeon where nothing's explained to you, and I did the 2+ hour slog again and if I had died again I never would have picked up the game again. I swear I came so close to dying so many times. Fuck that game, I enjoyed it though

I made a list somewhere where I reexamined all the FF games to determine how many "true" FFs there are, and decided that 3 and 5 should not be main entries in the series, they should be called Final Fantasy Job System and Final Fantasy Job System 2, or some more marketable name if square enix ever wants to repackage and sell them. I guess Tactics could be number 3.

The NPC's have lifeless faces which crack me up. But thats about all i have so far and thats a bit nitpicky.

I have about 6 hours into Horizon Zero Dawn and i love it. The only issue i have is the tagging system. Pressing right stick, scanning to my ( moving ) target, and pressing R2. Its a bit much. I'll get used to it. I wish the tagging system was as easy as God of War.

The NPC's have lifeless faces which crack me up. But thats about all i have so far and thats a bit nitpicky.

Yeah, my only complaint is that fighting humans isn't very interesting. It's still fun because the combat is so good, but the robots are so varied, with different strategies and preparations for each one. So the lack of any really fun human encounters stands out.

Otherwise I loved it. Gorgeous game, with a really fun world to explore.

i have finally finished LIVE A LIVE after i stopped playing it for like 7 years. thought my data was gone at one point. very cool innovation game, good story telling and music and scenarios, the last part was a real fucking chore though. the only posts about Live A Live on this forum are some guy putting it in his best obscure snes games and this Indifferent Clox post from a c-fed:

Ladies and Gentlemen it has been a long time coming, BUT TONIGHT IT FINALLY HAPPENS!!

This long and well comentated rivalry has sprung out of mutual hatred and desire for one thing.... and we don't quite know what that one thing is yet.

BUT TONIGHT IT WILL BE REVEALED!

I along with my.. I mean OUR audience have pretty much missed the point on all of Noid's elaborate dance like manauevers in the ring, it as if his every move has meaning but in the end it comes together in a a perhaps effective move that resembles a mating dance rather than a wrestling move. Throughought his many rounds of playing 'live a live' just to see the MIsawa Mutoh References in the middle of the ring Kane Knight would always appear on the monitor to interrupt him right at a crucial moment causing an "Incomplete" ending. Noid has announced that "TONIGHT THE GAME WILL NOT BE OVER!!!!"

Kane Knight has been training for years now, not figuring out how to make his opponents' attacks hurt him less but more. and he is able to now take in so much pain that he can unleash it in a way in which he considers much more painful, but no one has actually ever been 'defeated' per se.

TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT!!!

THIS EPIC MATCH WILL GO DOWN!!!

Finished it in one sitting tonight, great game and an improvement over RE7. I didnt replay 7, but I see myself replaying eight. Could have used some more exploration and better puzzles, but still a great game.
Only thing I didnt like was the ending which I felt was terrible
Seriously? Mia is the one who started this mess by working with bioweapons, per Resident Evil 7, and in the end, Ethan gets killed anyway while Mia survives and goes on her merry end? Terrible. I get that they wanted to get rid of Ethan as a character, but they could have done it so much better.

Technically, Ethan died in 7, remember? You learn that Jack killed him but he kept on due to the mold. Ethan was a walking mold bioweapon, in a way. Explains why he can just glue his hand back on over and over.

Is he really dead tho? Who was the mysterious hitch hiker at the end of the epilogue?? Rumors man. DLC should answer some of these questions.... maybe

Actually speaking of that, Biomutant is the first game in awhile that I felt was too easy to the point that it did bug me. They've since added in a new difficulty to address that, but I was basically done by the time they released the patch.

The issue with that game was the loot system not being quite properly tuned. You could get very high level items when you're like level 5 just because RNG decided thats what you got. Mind you you wouldn't be able to equip them. The issue comes from the addons for crafting and modding weapons as they have no requirements and then the ultimate weapons that are spawned in specific locations and have none either. When I was around level 10ish I happened across the ultimate rifle, which by itself is awesome, but not insane or game changing or anything because I still preferred my pistol....until I added some high power legendary mods i got from RNGesus and that rifle ended any chance at the game ever being challenging. I never changed weapons from that rifle after that. At level 10 I had a gun that melts level 50 bosses in 2-3 seconds at most.

I wish a clip I would make would do it justice, but it won't. Seriously, at least on Series X, it is butter smooth and very "pretty". It is damn near exactly like the "tech demo" they showed that everyone shits on. It's a damn fun game and its fine (for now) and I'm not gonna pretend otherwise.

Yeah those things are cool, but I like to try the challenge with no new game mechanics. At least completing hardcore first, Standard was a bit too easy at time and I was flush with ammo. From what I heard, it's not an uncommon complaint that game wasn't very hard, I feel it was fair on standard, but I can see that hardcore is a much nicer challenge.

VOS without infinite ammo will be insane. Average lycans take ~10-20 rounds from the Dragoon (depending on your aim). Also, the Duke's stuff goes up in price each time you have to buy something.

If you are a headshot king, it's possible to get it done, but it will be a slog. Otherwise, you won't have enough ammo and despite the lei dropped on VOS, it still won't be enough to buy the stuff you need. VOS introduces new spawns as well. Armored lycans are introduced very early.

Good luck!

Baldur's Gate 3.
So good, and so glad they gave it to Larian to make instead of Obsidian. They've done a fantastic job, even in early access. Still a bit disappointed with having turn based combat instead of real time with pause but can't have everything. They nailed the Baldur's Gate feel while putting it into a more modern package. Love how the early game is really hard just like in the first game but you slowly become stronger and it becomes easier.

The weapon types all have a different feel and it takes some trial and error to figure out what suits your play style. Some are clunky and sluggish but theres some on the quicker end which give you more mobility. Insect Glaive is a flippyboi spot monkey. Greatsword is a slow, lumbering knockout punch. There's only like three weapons I dont totally suck with. I can't even run Sword and Shield or Bow, which you'd think would be basic and easy to pick up. Can definitely see how spending a few hours just finding a weapon style you actually enjoy could be off putting though.

Currently playing Scarlet Nexus. Story is one of those insanely complex scifi stories that technically makes sense...if you can even follow it. But I really don't care about that at this point because this game has something else going for it: One of the most fun combat systems I have ever experienced. The amount of non stop fast paced madness and detailed combinations you can dish out at lightning speeds is just incredible, and yet it never feels like you are out of control or just button mashing. Yes you can get to a point where you are just plowing through enemies with ease but if you do it's because of skill and timing, not because you are overpowered or it got easy suddenly. You can obliterate a 5 pack of an enemy in 3 seconds, or you can get wrecked by a single one of them almost as fast if you botch your plan. Every battle feels exciting as such, even ones that are over in seconds. Just tons of fun imo.

I've got me a game plan now and i can get through the battles but some of them take an exceedingly long time as I dart in and out for minimal damage trying to rebuild my ultimate. Upgrading all the main potions has been a big help, as well the extra consumable capacity upgrade I will get after the next level I run. The main issue now is it is very much a slog going through a stage on some of the higher difficulties needed for better lewtz. Ah well, back to the grind.

Spider-Man for PS4 is incredible.

It's melded the collecting stuff, photo taking and crime stopping into new suits that have awesome looks and abilities. The swinging mechanic is literally something I can do all day without even doing anything else. And I even love the puzzles in Doc Octs lab. And the storyline so far has been amazing.

I'm only 20 % into the game because I literally feel like i'm Spider-Man when i play the game and i'm just doing lots of different things.

I havent unlocked research tokens yet or maybe i'm doing something wrong.

What a fantastic game!

The suits are fantastic, but Web Blossom is a no brainer that I use everytime I fight. I do change the suits thought when i just go swinging. Especially at night.

LOL @ Tecmo Bowl removing all the names of the players. I get that the Player's Association deal expired ages ago, but they didn't even give it the Tecmo Super Bowl treatment of placeholders... just their number, a dash, and a big blank. No scroll down at the title screen for the team listings. Not even name scroll for whoever scores a touchdown, either. Just goes from "Touchdown" to the score.

Playing the Mr X Nightmare dlc for Streets of Rage 4. Outstanding expansion at a great value for only 7 bucks. 3 new characters, new weapons, and new moves for all the characters, even the old school sprite ones.

The big highlights are an excellent training mode that teaches you combos for each character, and gives you the ability to spawn all the enemies in a free mode.

Then there's survival, which basically turns the game into a roguelike. Randomized stages and enemies, and you get to choose a buff after clearing each stage. Ton of fun, and as the primary mode for unlocking all the new content, it adds lots of replay value.

That makes one of us. I feel like 4 had interesting new ideas, just executed very poorly. I also didn't like that the protagonists speak and that the dialogue system is such dog shit. Also, a lot of the main story didn't feel that compelling, same for a lot of the side quests, except maybe the Silver Shroud one, literally the only side quest I can recall by name without looking it up, you don't have to worry about your weapon's condition anymore as they don't have them anymore...oh, and Preston Garvey. Fuck that guy. That's why the last thing I ever did before deleting it forever was to put him in a long red dress and a red woman's hat and made him harvest vegetables in Sanctuary. Only time he ever made me smile.

OK, so I took an inventory of what I own in regards to games and I have a ridiculous list of titles that I either have started but haven't finished or haven't touched at all. What do you think I should tackle first:

Assassin's Creed 2 (still in the middle)
Doom Eternal (still in the middle)
Darksiders 2 (haven't started)
Bioshock Infinite (haven't started)
Murdered: Soul Suspect (still in the middle)
Remember Me (still in the middle)
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (still in the middle)
Metro: Last Light (still in the middle)
Marvel's Avengers (still in the middle)
Dead Space (still in the middle)
Dying Light (still in the middle)

I don't know if anyone will have the answer, is it possible to gain fame after the story, as John's son, Jack? Same. I liked Sea of Thieves at launch for all of about a month. The sailing was kinda zen and I liked the aimless exploration. Of course, that all ended when I started running into other pirates. A lot. And this is one of those games that actively encourages you to be an asshole to strangers in ways that feel disrespectful of invested time. Not nearly as bad as Dark Zone in The Division, but still not really my thing. And I have a friend who will not and has not shut up about it. Especially now with the Pirates of the Caribbean stuff.
