Main event of all games comes out January 29th: Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm trying to wrap up all gaming that I am doing right now because once that game comes out, it's all that every day until I am done with it.

I honestly cannot wait for the game. So many years in the making. Just remembering how 1 ended, the entire game of 2 and everything in between. So many great battles. Should be an awesome conclusion to the series

I very rarely give up on a game I've paid for, but I think it's time to give up on Dying Light. The missions are repetative and boring and combat is needlessly hard, even on 'normal' difficulty. I've picked up some decent weapons but you just get swamped.

Not sure which to pick up first out of Kingdom Hearts 3 and RE2, I'll be going in completely cold on KH3 but I fucking love Disney so even though I haven't played any of the earlier ones I might go with that.

Was playing some BL2 this weekend and on side quest "Clan War: End of the Rainbow", upon killing the Bagman he dropped the super rare Pot O' Gold shield. It isn't anything spectacular in and of itself, since all its special effect does is occasionally add $1 to your character when shot if it's equipped. It's among the rarest drops in the game, though, and as such I had long coveted one to store in the stash or the safe in Sanctuary as a novelty and a reminder that after nearly 7 years of the game being out, I FINALLY GOT THE DAMN THING! And it was on TVHM, too, not even lv 72 to OP8 UVHM or UVHM in general. Honestly a better feeling than winning the Plat(iNUM) trophy for the game.

After that, if I still feel invested in the story, I *might* consider picking up 4.1 and the recently released (December 11, 2018) Earth Defense Force 5. Of course, though, I also still have Insect Armageddon for 360.

Started playing Nioh last weekend, it's not as smooth as Souls but it's a pretty good take on the genre. Pretty humorous that the game starts with you dying(?) and waking up in the undead asylum, uh, I mean Tower of London. Complete with it's own fat demon boss (this one is called Derrick though). There's also a Mine level that is definitely nothing like Demon Souls 2-1.

Bosses are way less forgiving than Souls, at least three so far have one shotted me on their opening move which makes it a lot harder to learn their moveset. I do really like that one boss is a sea monster that looks like the map placeholder from Ni No Kuni, and speaking of NNK(2), the loot system here is even more overwhelming to me and I have no idea what half of the stats or blacksmithing options even mean. I know I have too much gear though.

I unlocked that hard as balls duel mission from the demo and I still can't beat the fucker. This game is seriously tough. I like it.

Doing some Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition on PS4.

Loving it except for still not being able to move in Fight For Your Life. How the hell is it you can add FOV sliders, a mini-map, SHiFT support, 6 all-new legendary weapons and heads for all the characters but not that? I'm sure it wouldn't have been difficult to implement.

@Guy Fawkes

The console UI in Divinity is definitely pretty terrible at times, the biggest problem is the skills hotbar being a huge pain to re-organise. It makes me put off learning / trying new skills and I don't think I've used any potions or done any crafting since the first island because it's such a hassle finding the item you want. I'd imagine playing on the hardcore / tactician mode would be brutal but once you figure out the correct way around the second island it's manageable on classic.

Divinity 2 really goes to shit in the final act, absolutely horrible level design throughout, every battle is suddenly cheap as fuck and stacked against you. There is one really cool quest involving a sea of candles, but then all you have left is the final quest and it is an absolute shitshow. Two puzzles with no clue or explanation as to what you're actually supposed to do followed by three boss class enemies at once, then once you trigger the next phase it adds FIVE more without resetting your cooldowns, health or armour AND bunching all your party together so the main boss can one shot NUKE you immediately before you can even move. Fucking garbage. Going to have to respect my entire team just to finish this and I don't know if I can be bothered honestly.

Im about 20 hours in on Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Have been meaning to play it for years but never got around to purchasing it.

I think this could be the best Final Fantasy game since FFXII. Much darker in tone than the other games, the opening sequence features a Chocobo and it's (major NPC) rider being torn up with bullets and then bleeding to death together before our heroes drain away the last of his soul essence. Not so cutsey.

It does overwhelm you with information and characters initially (14 playable characters available from the start), but the characterisation and development is excellent. Most of the protagonists are likable and play uniquely.

Fuck Machina though. Prick.

Middle-Earth Shadow of War

Dropped it when it came out, because a marketplace for Orcs betrays the whole point of the awesome Nemesis system. They've since gotten rid of it completely for that very reason, and it's back to being a really cool game now. Already had a couple rivalries, and now I'm building my own army.

The Nemesis system would be awesome in a wrestling game.

Look at this dickhead. Why does he feel the need to use an entire bedsheet as his regulation military cape? Because he's the fucking WORST. Nobody else in the whole game wears their cape like that, even the bitchy goth gurl has a more modest, less attention seeking cape. Nobody wants to give you their attention Machina, you absolute shitlord.

The girl he is pictured with, Rem, grew up in the same village, which was burned to the ground and because this is final fantasy, the trade off for being able to use magic is that once you die nobody remembers anything about your existence. So you'd think these two, being the only survivors, would be really close. That's incorrect. Machina is a fucking creep and Rem knows it.

Asshole spends the entire game cockblocking the entire cast, making sure they know only he is allowed to care about Rem and even threating violence against the entire class when one character becomes concerned about her TERMINAL ILLNESS.

Major story He is fed a lie by a villain that the rest of the class killed his brother (who of course, he doesn't even remember and therefore is not a motivating factor, also not true), which makes him even more hostile to everyone else, so far as becoming a spy for the corrupt military commandant. A role which sees him provide such valuble insight as, "I HATE CLASS ZERO, THEY ARE JUST FOLLOWING YOUR ORDERS! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY KILLED MY BROTHER. WHAT WAS HIS NAME? WOW. I HOPE MY SPYING IS USEFUL TO YOU AND THEY ALL DIE BECAUSE I AM THE WORST"

He becomes so obsessed with the idea of Rem remembering him that he decided to become a L'Cie (yep, from FFXIII, here nobody forgets a L'Cie because how could you forget about Lightning?) just so Rem won't forget him when he dies. Oh, but he becomes a L'Cie WORKING FOR THE FUCKING BAD GUY'S SIDE BECAUSE DEAR GOD HE IS THE FUCKING WORST. So he is not even playable during the two largest scale missions, not that you'd want to play as him anyway, but way to contribute. Great playable character.

As you enter the point of no return, Machina decides he's going to just leave for good. Shortly afterwards, Rem's TERMINAL ILLNESS nearly finishes her off, but in desperation she accepts an offer to become L'Cie for the good guys. So guess what? Wearing a mask, that while hiding his idendity but in no way obscuring his vision, Machina then proceeds to BRUTALLY FUCKING MURDER REM. (Rem not wearing a mask by the way. Rem still wearing her uniform. Guess she should have worn a BIGGER FUCKING CAPE?). He then takes off his mask and cries about it as she bleeds to death, as if he hadn't just done it with his own two hands and isn't the biggest piece of shit in video games history.

Oh and then the whole class, who he was a dick to the entire time, sacrifice themselves in order to create a new world free of War and Machina and Rem somehow get resurrected and Machina is hailed as King of the new world, marries poor Rem and dies peacefully of old age in some truly unfathomable bullshit writing. FUCK.

He really is the worst.

Not for me at least. As you level your bike you do less and less and not driving like an idiot keeps repairs low anyhow. Beyond that i think having to scavenge for fuel is fucking awesome. Shit is like gold. You can also upgrade your fuel tank so consumption lessens as you go.

Ultimately early game is somewhat survival horror as ammo storage and bike maintenance supplies are scarce but as you go through the game you you lessen these problem.

Beyond that you can pay for repairs/fuel so there's ample options to keep your bike maintained.

After all this time, you finally get a to know the true villains of the series, Aita & Juno. You know who they where in previous entries, but not this much depth. Next game, whatever it is, will most likely pick up right at the end where this will leave off.

Time to go back to Kamurocho in Judgment.

I'm thinking about trying out GTA Onlin but I haven't fucked with it since beta. I played through it originally on the ps3 and have read it's too late to import whatever shit I had over to the ps4.

That being said, I'm interested because of that casino finally getting released. I wonder if it'd be noob friendly....heard there's some kind of casino membership required to access it.

GTA Online is a pretty signifigant grind, but it's worth it if you have friends to share the mayhem of all the toys you earn.

If not, there are a lot more rewarding experiences out there

Got around to finally playing RDR2 recently and it was incredible. So many amazing characters. But above all of them is Arthur; he's up there very high on my all-time favorite characters list. Really felt connected with him. Gameplay is standard Rockstar fare at this point and there is nothing wrong with that. I do have one major complaint though in that half the game world is locked off until the post game....and then there is really nothing there anyways. Seems like a HUGE waste of assets or a clear indication that a lot of content was cut/unfinished. I'm actually hopeful though that the assets were put in place for a remastered version of RDR1, only as DLC for part 2. It would be incredible to play it all in that engine as one huge experience.

Following that I decided to jump into Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the season pass since they just released the final major DLC pack. I LOVE this game. I know there are a lot of complaints about it not feeling like assassins creed, and those complaints are valid to an extent and I get them.....but I'm not complaining because to me, this is better. The evolution of the series is going on a great path as far as I'm concerned.

Easily the biggest game world I can remember exploring. And I don't seem to be getting bored of it. At all. I've spent dozens of hours just walking around exploring aimlessly at this point. They've also finally embraced the more fantastical aspects of their lore, especially in the DLC; this is a very good thing because I suddenly find myself understanding some of the more esoteric aspects of previous stories. The combat is more visceral and immediate, but you can still be a ranged power house or a silent killer if you want; I run an assassin build that can also stand up pretty good in a brawl with any survivors of my assassinations. And there is just so much to do at all times with no end to mercenaries hunting you down and contracts to complete.

Literally the only complaint I have is that it's too big and that's not really a complaint.

I know the next Assassins Creed game is codenamed Kingdom and is supposedly about Vikings, and there is also talk about a possible China game (which I am fully behind and is my second choice for a setting at this point), I am hoping the Kingdom code name refers to the Kingdoms of northern India during the 2nd urbanization period towards the end of the Vedic period of Hinduism.

A game set sprawling across India, Pakistan and into Persia would be incredible. It would be set around the same time as Odyssey, maybe actually a direct precursor to it. There is already the tie in to the Persians in Odyssey and it's DLC, so exploring the Zoroastrian deities that they follow and the conflict between the greeks and their deities would be a good setting. You then have the aftermath of the Achaemenid war in the Indus valley to explore, which brings the setting into the Indus Valley and the Vedic Kingdoms.

I think it would be fascinating to explore.

Odyssey turned out to be a great game. But Ubisoft just jammed in waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much stuff to do. In previous titles I clock in at a reasonable time for the platinum. But, I've put in more than 200 hours between the main game and DLC.

There's a few issues that still need to be ironed out since Origins started this new style of gameplay and the story in general. But, I hope Ubisoft deals with them and has them sorted when the potential next game rolls along.

I love open world maps. Having just beat Rd2 for the 2nd time I wanted more of the same and I've played a lot of Assassins games, the last one being Black Flag. I won't lie I never got into the naval stuff so I lost interest. I know there is Naval stuff here but I am going to give it a good chance. I just want to be able to do whatever I want and shaping my own character is so fun. It sounds like about everything you do affects your experience so I am excited. Am I going to be a total psycho or a gentleman with strong moral code? WHO KNOWS

I find myself in a moral grey area and making conflicting choices often. Kinda situational. Some people you don't feel as bad about shitting on, I guess.

It's a very open ended game. Once I got the freedom to go anywhere I slacked off on the main story and just started exploring and feel like I have forged my own narrative and development as such. In fact the only reason I'm not walking around in the mid 80's level wise at the VERY beginning of the story opening up is because I decided to progress the story twice, once to unlock something that certain skills/upgrades are stuck behind, and the second time so I could get to the start point for the DLC packs.

Sepholio

Also if you just go out exploring....be careful of the weird triangle shaped map markers from time to time (they'll be gold or blue in a couple cases) and the gold question marks. No spoilers but the things in those particular areas do not scale the same as the level range listed on the regions. You could be level 15 and walk into a level 45 thing and it ain't pretty. Trust me, I did it when I first found a location called "Cave of Nobody" and started wondering if maybe Odysseus had been in here in his adventures lol.

Also if you got the version with the season pass, make sure to drop everything as soon as u get to that part in the story where the DLC unlocks (they make it very known to you that it unlocked, you'll know), go ahead and start working on those, at least the legacy of the first blade content. The Atlantis content ends up potentially spoiling a couple main story beats depending when u do it, but it hasn't effected me too much and seems minor. Anyways, there are some very game changing upgrades you can get in the packs that completely change the feel of the game and lead to some interesting builds. A couple of the perks on some of the dlc legendary items are SICK. You can get modifiers for maybe about half the skills on your ability page and the modified skills are often VERY different than the base skills. And theres a couple other things that are cool af, particularly something in the first blade content, that you'll want that I'm not gonna spoil.

Oh, and make sure you have some form of the level scaling enabled. Keeps the game engaging. I haven't checked out all the options, but the normal level scaling will keep all enemies within 2 levels of your current level once you reach the recommended level range listed for an area.

Just do it.

It is a great game. I must say though and this comparison is apt...

Odyssey is more fun. And I'd say Skyrim is more fun than Witcher. Just too much repetition in that game for me (Witcher 3). I never beat Witcher 3, most of it but it got stale for me. I may give it another go sometime and start from the beginning.

Not slamming Witcher 3 it's great but Odyssey improves upon it.

Strongly disagree. Witcher 3 is the best gane of this console cycle. Every inch of that game is crafted by hand with love. The detail in that game is unmatched. Side quests can feel just as polished as any main story mission. No contest.

I should have Judgment put to bed this weekend. Then I gotta track down the Japanese TV series Hero from which the game is sorta loosely based off. Actor in the game Takuya Kimura is the same guy who stared in the show.

I was hoping I get an invite into the Ghost Recon Breakpoint closed beta now in progress. Nothing yet in my inbox even though I pre-ordered the game. Might have to bug Gamestop after work tomorrow for a beta code.

I mean outside of some of the old Might and Magic games and the Ultima games, have there ever been worlds even remotely close to that size and detail? Like, Skyrim was a great game but the world was kinda bland to me. It was all snowy mountains and pine trees. It seems weird, but the only "recent" game that I think was even as close to as detailed world wise was Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. That game is criminally underappreciated and a huge and varied world with tons of stuff to do. I would throw some of the Assassins creed games in here for their worlds, but creating a world based on existing places isn't the same as crafting a world from scratch.

Can't see anything in @Memenuts' post but dude if you want to pick on an Elder Scrolls game for its environments, pick Morrowind. I love it to death for introducing me to the series but even my nostalgia goggles can't blind me to how dated the visuals, UI and combat are just to name a few issues. Plus there's tons of reading you have to do, which who does that any more? Still a pretty solid RPG experience though.
