Still on Samurai Warriors 5. Getting close to where I'm about to put it down and take a break for a little while. Still a blast.

Thinking about grabbing the Iki Island DLC for Ghost of Tsushima and getting back into that.

Is this like Dynasty Warriors or Hyrule Warriors or any other warrior game? I those types of games.

I'm playing The Witcher 3 on PS4 now. I originally bought it for the Switch but felt like i wasnt getting the experience that I would get on PS4. And i was right. This game is amazing. I"m literally still in the starting area. I'm watching videos about lower level armor and i'm about to get a set of Griffon Armor. I just got a Moonblade.

The game has had some hilarious moments. And the story is slow, but building and fantastic. I was some hot witch tits and some rabbits fucking.

I have a feeling i'm gonna be pumping a couple hundred hours in this game. I'm in no hurry to progress through the mainline quest even though it's great so far.

Yeah, the gameplay seemed a bit repetitive on first impression, but it very quickly opens up to where you can use wildly different builds on every run. There's actually 6 different weapons you unlock early on, and they each have their own upgrades. So you're not just mashing with that sword you start out with.

Finally went back to Assassins Creed Valhalla to play the 2 DLCs to scratch my yearly AC itch. Already finished the Ireland/Druid DLC. It was ok but nothing wild/cool like Origins and Odyssey outside of a couple things, particularly the optional "secret boss" fight. Have jumped into the Paris content now and it seems very meh, kinda lame compared even to the Druid content. It's just standard AC fare, which normally isn't bad to me but this is on the low end of the pecking order tbh. It's neat seeing Paris way earlier than it's other iteration in the series, but that also makes it small and thus not as engaging as the typical city AC games of old. Still having a decent time, but just feels like I've been here and done this before and it was better the first time around.

In all honesty this is the weakest AC DLC offering in a long time. But I'm just playing it to pass the time until Thursday when I will be shifting my focus to Far Cry 6.

For what it's worth I feel as though a lot of my lack of enthusiasm for the current content is due to the weapon combination I'm using. Combining the Gungnir spear from the main Valhalla campaign with the Gae Bolg spear acquired from beating the secret boss in Ireland basically enables God mode. It doesn't matter what I fight or how strong it is, how overwhelmed by numbers I am or anything; equip those 2 spears and spam attack and nothing can ever stop you. I fought the last boss of the Ireland campaign with them and said boss couldn't even move, let alone attack me. It's cheap. I should probably have switched off of the set up but it's just so cool to look at. I dunno, def sapped the fun but also making it easy to blaze through the story and get it over with.

It's a decent game but I feel like it's a big step back from Origin and Odyssey. I really liked Origin and I absolutely love Odyssey. Nothing will top Black Flag for me though.

Edit: If you are ever looking for a time sink though, Valhalla is a winner. I think the main game and the couple free dlcs that dropped after release ate up 120-130hrs for me to do my usual completionist run.

Both Nier games are absolutely amazing. They tell great stories.

Far Cry 6 was starting to get me a little worried. I was way outranking every area on the map and wasn't seeing any of those areas levelling up like was said. Well I finally hit a couple points that bumped up the threat level of all the areas. Still overlevelled for some of the easier areas but there are multiple places back in line with my current rank. Very glad that this checked out, was worried the game would get too easy as I can already see I will be max rank well ahead of the end due to my ocd making me complete everything in any given area before I move on.

I had heard people complaining about her and the escort stuff, but the " wait here/ follow me " ability was clearly built in to be utilized and i realized that after the 2nd El Gigante fight. If you know how to position her. It's not so much an issue. I think early in the game, after I found her, I put her in the top of a tower and then went back down and killed a bunch of dudes and she was screaming " LEON! LEON??? " . LOL

She's a variable in which the game gives you a mechanic to manage her. I actually love it. It's a pain, but I love it. And she's needed in some rooms and puzzles.

Now if you need something that won't feel trivial to grab your attention then go for Persona 5 Royal if you haven't already. That's another one I rank very highly. I destroyed far cry 6, becoming the God of headshots along the way.

Outriders finally dropped for Gamespass on PC so I'm giving it a shot. Gonna see how far I can get solo first, which is apparently a lot harder in this game, and I can see why. Battles get fast and furious in a hurry. Seems pretty fun so far though. Kinda gears-esque. Faster paced though. The setting is interesting and I already find myself very interested in the lore of this game.

And damn is it pretty when you can crank up all the bells and whistles to maximum. Running locked 60 fps @native 4k with everything on ultra. Doesn't seem to phase my PC at all even when running with no overclocking, which is awesome. Load times are 1-2 seconds. Wish I had a higher framerate on this monitor (actually a TV, but whatever) but it will only display 60fps in native 4k and dropping it down to the 120hz modes wouldn't be the same test obviously. Oh well.

Damn now I wanna buy a 120hz 4k TV for my rig >_<

Chrono Trigger was my #1. The only reason this takes the crown is that is is so god damn unique and the story. The various "genres" you play in one title is crazy. Like, when I first started 9s playthrough, I didn't care for hacking, but by the end it was amazing like the quick melee combat. Never thought the last hack on A2 would end. Never thought the credit fighting would end.

Outriders..... enjoy the fun before you get bored. Can't remember what level I got to, but it is TOTALLY manageable solo if you understand your class. Play to their strengths and you'll do just fine.

A story as old as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. When 2K Australia was closed, they were pretty much smack in the middle of what would've been its second big DLC, "Luxy's Space Adventure". *SIGH...* what could have been...😔😢

Yeah, same on my 1st run. I didn't even finish the campaign because I got bored. Dogespeed.

Oh I'm gonna finish if only because I like the story. The formula of the game is very repetitive though. I thought it was a bit more open world than this when I started. My choice of class has made it a slog too. Everything is doable solo so far like I wanted but it is just so slow going due to the stunted damage of the devestator. Seeing as I am only interested in the story really I just decided to hack tf out of my character; God mode, infinite ammo, rapid fire, no recoil and increased drop rates. No challenge now but it's nice being able to just plow through things and see the world and get the story without the grind.

It's funny how easy it was to hack this considering it's always online and is meant to be played with others.

What do you mean? How they don't ban people for it? I would agree thats stupid if there was any competitive nature to Outriders, but there isn't. No leaderboards, no pvp. Just a co-op shooter. No reason to really ban people for it given that; just lump them in with the other cheaters so they people they are playing with are in the same boat and aren't taking away from the experience of people who want to play it the legit way.

I finished Guardians. What a fucking ride. Combat is rough around the edges, but still fun like I said before. This game leans heavily on its narrative and characters. If you don't care about story in video games, I'm gonna say this isn't for you. That said, this is one of the most enjoyable stories I've ever experienced in a game. Just a blast all the way through.

Characters are well written and voice acted. Insane amount of VA in this, as the group is constantly bantering during missions and all of it is unique. The comedy had me chuckling all the way through. I was a bit worried after the trailer as some of those jokes fell flat, but most of what's here is pretty funny.

The world's you explore are fucking gorgeous. Can tell a lot of the budget went into the environments.

I think it has enough draw from the mcu to pull in fans who have only seen the movies, while not coming off like Dollar store knock offs, like Avengers. But if you are familiar with the books, there's a lot great stuff here.

Speaking of Avengers, GotG shits all over it by having mcu skins as free in game unlocks as opposed to charging 14 fucking dollars for them.

Downloaded UnMetal on Switch and am about halfway through it. Specifically got it for Switch instead of XBOX because it "feels right" on Nintendo.

Fantastic love letter of batshit insanity towards Metal Gear. As in, the pre-solid games. It's like a Mix of BOTH versions of MG, the original sequel, and Snake's Revenge... but a lot of tounge-in-cheek nonsense to outright bullshit as you play a guy who was imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit.

There were a couple of BS cheap deathtraps (there's one area specifically where, no matter what you do, the situation is unwinable, but it's still fun to try just for the narrative), but it is kinda par for the course, given how the narrative works.

In fact, my only *real* complaint came early in the game, since there was a thing you need to do to progress, and there is no real moment in the game that tells you you can do x thing, but it hints/signposts/tutorializes pretty much everyting else. Seems almost like a programming oversight.

There is a new town that forces you into the old school 2d NES/SNES style graphics and it contains a bunch of quests (that are unlocked by finding these little guys in the main game world) that transport you to all the old DQ games for a few sidequests. Think there is like 25 in total or something. The premise is that the denizens of the new town are somehow connected to all the worlds and monitor them as a duty, and something is messing with the timelines and wrecking things in each world and you have to do some little tasks to fix everything. 2K and Gearbox with a surprise release, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon's Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure , a standalone game version of Borderlands 2's penultimate full DLC, with new additions, for $9.99. Of course I grabbed it.

Still getting used to the new control scheme. R1 (instead of R2) shoots, R2 (was R1) throws a grenade, and L2 (The Artist Formerly Known As L1) activates the player character's action skill.

I have no idea of the level cap. It doesn't let you import BL2 character data, so all characters start from scratch at level 1. But, you get 2 skill points per level, and that starts at level 2, whereas it was level 5 for BL2 and you only got 1 skill point per level up.

It has some bugs, yep. But, it is actually really fun and the most chaotic FPS I've ever played.

SMG's need balanced badly, as they outperform EVERYTHING right now. There was a good reddit post Fignuts and I had a laugh at where someone hyped up the game and did a long breakdown of each weapon class, only to end each class with saying the PP-28 is the best gun in every class (cause it is :D)

Played a few bot matches. Can pubstomp beginner, but intermediate is a huge difference. Went from winning regularly to getting pubstomped by AI, with the AI usually having 200-400 resources left.

I know Atriox was the big baddie for Halo Wars 2 but even in that game, there's really nothing linking it to the events of Halo 5. I'm guessing there's going to be a big exposition dump somewhere in the second act or whatever to help fill in the blanks. One thing I do appreciate about the gunplay, though, is the ability to vent plasma weapons manually and recharge them with certain crates. It just feels better than just discarding a depleted plasma rifle on the ground; and it's environmentally friendly!

Moreover, the gunplay is trash and they should have kept the fluidity of movement from BF V

They need to fix:

* In-game voice chat (how the FUCK is this NOT in the game??)

* Bring back the class system or at least an option to have a game mode with the OG classes.

Its actually not a lack of friction. Mario actually runs extremely fast. They actually slow the animation down to make it easier to control him. What you are seeing isnt a lack of friction, but mario losing traction and drifting when he turns or tries to stop. The reason for his awkward take off is basically that he is spinning out before he catches traction.

Thats a damn fine rig, especially landing a 30xx series card in the shortage. I thought about buying a premade rig this time around with the shortages but in the end I just bided my time over the course of like 7 or 8 months until I could land all the parts I wanted at retail value. Finding a brand new 3080 for 700 bucks was like looking for a needle in a haystack the size of Mt. Everest and then finding a golden ticket instead. I was very close to just buying a prebuilt with a 2080 Super or something.

I ended up with over 3 grand in this PC but it should last a looooooong time so I think it was worth it. The only area I really don't throw all the loot at is my monitor. Yeah I could buy a 120hz 24 inch 4k for like 700-1000 or whatever they cost but I'm happy at 60 frames locked on everything so I just got a 50inch 4k60 TV with HDR for like 250 lmao. First test I gave this PC was "can it run unoptimized af Cyberpunk 2077?" Runs it in native 4k, 60 frames steady, everything cranked to ultra and doesn't even break a sweat. Love my consoles but there is nothing like high end PC gaming.

I'm also a filthy pirate from time to time and the Great Sea of PC is much easier to navigate than the Console Straights. Don't have to void your warranties and potentially brick your system to run bootlegs, or more importantly as it's what most of my piracy is, emulators. I love emulators and going back and playing all kinds of old niche games I'll never play otherwise. Found some of my favorite games ever by just going through random rankings lists online and giving things I'd never heard of a try. Terranigma comes to mind, that was a damn GEM on super nintendo and nobody played it. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever...but I never made it past like half way in Chrono Cross back in the day for some reason. Went back recently and bootlegged it and found an HD texture replacement pack for it, cranked up all the weird emulator settings, and it ended up looking almost like a ps2 game in detail with no high res and no jaggies.
Was very nice. WOOOO LATE NIGHT SEPH RAMBLINGS.

Oh yeah, the reason I came here. So...I know gaming turns into a gambling addiction for people, especially with GACHA games. Well...I have a GACHA game addiction. But not the gambling bit, weirdly. I am addicted to wasting endless amounts of idle time manually grinding GACHA games just to prove I can be a king even if I'm F2P. I'm pretty damn boss in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and Bleach Brave Souls, never spent a dime. This has led me to my latest curse: Megaman X DiVE. It is by far the most grindiest, tedious, gambling-encouraging GACHA I have every come across. You hit the wall FAST in this game. Maybe an hour and a half in at most. And I mean THE WALL. It is terrible. And I love it and I can't stop playing oh God somebody help me.

Sepholio
02-02-2022, 04:21 AM
The only saving grave in this game over FF and Bleach is that it is typical Megaman. It plays just like you think it would other than the different characters having different special moves. Getting a good character is still key because of those moves, but it's still megaman. If you are skilled enough and have enough to patience to deal with bullet sponge bosses, you can progress a ways past where you are currently ranked. You have to be damn near perfect and be ready to spend a long time dodging those same patterns on the bosses though.

Yeah, I may have underestimated it's capability. Ran final fantasy 7 remake (the new ps5 upgraded version) on ultra settings at 120 fps and it didn't hitch or lag in the slightest. I am very happy right now.

2 weeks ago I deleted The Witcher 3 off my PS4 to fit a couple other games on it. I was just taking a small break from Witcher 3. I put it back on today to continue some hardcore playing and my save file is gone. I looked everywhere. Looked online for tips. It's just gone. I dont know how I did that. Probably about 45 hours of gameplay and I was not even halfway through the base game part. I was just having a blast. Farming items and armor and doing side quests.

I've never been obsessed with any game like Elite Dangerous. The game mechanics are so deep you kind of need a manual to play it.

I spent a few days just exploring deep space and mapping undiscovered planets. When I got back I sold it all to the Earth Defense Fleet and made about 50 million dollars, which is a lot for a new player and chump change for the really experienced ones with billions.

You can just be a space trucker or you can dive into combat. So many directions to go. There are explorers who spend all their time jumping from star to star out in the unknown galaxy. Feels like 5 or 6 different games in one. It's a really easy way to lose 4 hours.

dude you need to take Hollow Knight out of your "Not sure when" pile and put it next in line. That game is a must play. Probably the best metroidvania game ever made. It's near perfection. It can be extremely challenging but it builds you up to those challenges. By the time you get to the crazier stuff you'll have the tools and skills you need. Outside of a few INSANE optional bosses, boss gauntlets and a couple ultra difficult platforming sections that are basically there for bragging rights.

Horizon Forbidden Wests enemies are super aggressive compared to the first game. Sometimes they are just downright relentless. Hit and run tactics still can work if thats your thing but be prepared to do a lot more running.

Overwhelming amount of activities in this game to do as well. There is always something nearby. One thing they need to change in the next one I think though is the loot system. I think this game with its size could easily manage a full loot drop system (armor/weapon drops and stuff) instead of set weapon/armor placement and "random" resource drops from enemies. Might need to lean into the crafting a bit more with a new loot system but thats no issue because the crafting/upgrade loop in this game is actually fun.

Really enjoyable game though. Loved the first and this is a clear improvement across the board.
