The Jags player just about ripped his head off.

How the hell did that hit on Collie not get called?
The Jags player just about ripped his head off.
Because the defender wasn't leading with his helmet or shoulder, and it wasn't a deliberate shot to the head, it was just the way he came in at Collie and the way Collie turned.
SlickyTrickyDamon
12-19-2010, 02:28 PM
He leaned with a shoulder I think, but that's not a foul in the new "defenseless reciever" rule. It is basically only a foul for helmet-to-helmet contact.
Football isn't for pussies. If you throw in the middle of the field your receivers are going to get hit hard. Had he caught the ball he would have gotten just hit in the chest, so it's basically his fault for not catching the ball.

Yeah but I mean, losing always blows but losses like this pretty much prevent me from getting anything accomplished the rest of the day. Fuck.
Im playing around with the playoff Generator and if the Ravens win out, even if the Steelers lose today they still need to lose to Carolina or Cleveland in order for the Ravens to get a bye.
To top things off with a god-damned cherry, if the Steelers done lose again, the Ravens would most likely be stuck in the 5 seed and play the Colts in Indy. FUCK
Should the Jets win, I would almost rather the Ravens lose one of their next games to fall to the 6th seed and play the Wild Card in KC.

I havent messed around with the NFC side of things but I could see a team losing on purpose in week 17 if it meant they got to face the Rams/Seahawks instead of going to Philly. I dont know if that would be possible or not..
Heres the Yahoo Playoff Generator (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario?algorithm=currentstandings)

Nasty fake hand off to the RB by the Jets to fool the Steelers badly to tie the game 17-17 on the 4th & 1 call.
Evil Vito
12-19-2010, 06:20 PM
Fuck. Judging by the generator, the Giants have to win both AND the Saints have to lose both for the Giants to get the 5th seed.
But if the Bears drop a game somewhere and the Eagles win out, they at least would get to go to Chicago instead of Philly.
I'm just about certain the Falcons aren't going to go to the Super Bowl. They have that 2008 Tennessee Titans vibe about them. I bet they don't even make it to the NFC Championship.

I hope the Giants blow the fucking big one next week. I can't understand for the life of me, how after 3 quarters of absolutely handling a team, you fucking let a game that you're leading by 21 points slip away. There is absolutely no excuse, and almost every single facet of the team is to blame. I'm fucking disgusted with what I saw today.
It was because they had one less day to practice.

Droford
12-19-2010, 07:22 PM
Im not big on them being the favorite to win or even be in the SB. Lofty expectations are usually not met. The schedule they got starts off absolutely BRUTAL (4 road games in first 6 weeks) but they get 4 out the last 6 at home (including the toughest game they have vs the Saints).
Everything Ive seen in the preseason leads me to believe that they are no worse than a 10 win team, and probably at least 12 wins..so they should at least make the playoffs for the 3rd straight year with Harbaugh/Flacco even if its as a wild card again, though I cant see Cincy or Pittsburgh winning more than 10 games.
The biggest issue I have with them getting to the Super Bowl is that one of the big 3 contenders (alongside the Ravens and Patriots) in the AFC is Indy and the Ravens haven't shown an ability to play with the Colts on the same level.
Its kinda funny that the way things are playing out, I was like 90% spot on with my analysis there. Ravens are likely a 12 win team, The Bengals flat out suck and the Steelers have 10 wins though and will probably end up with 12. The game today wasn't as tough as I thought it would be coming off the poor job they did in Houston but it was still probably the best win they've had all year. Ravens are a lock to make the playoffs as a wild card at a minimum and will probably face the fucking Colts. At least I didnt know back in September that the Colts would at best be a 10-6 team with a lot of injuries but I still don't like the fact the Ravens will probably have to go to Indy and face the Colts.

During the post game press conference Coughlin stated that they had suspected the Eagles might try an onside kick, yet they didn't put the hands team out there. :|
I can't even be mad at Dodge for the punt. I'm more upset with the fact that for 3 and a half quarters, the Giants handled Vick and put points on the board on offense, then disappeared for half a quarter, just enough to piss the game away. Heres my thinking behind saying the Chiefs and Jags can beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl:
If either of them make it, they will have gone through some combination of the Patriots/Steelers/Ravens/Jets and possibly the Chargers or Colts, all on the road by the way, to get there. If they do that, they can beat the Eagles.

Philly fans were classless because the the anger about an iffy call should be secondary to concern about a guy who could be seriously hurt. That's all there is. There's no debate about it. If there's a guy unconscious and possibly paralyzed on the field and you only care about a call on the previous play, you're classless. That's where the argument starts and ends.

It's also widely known that Eagles fans treat opposing fans like shit. They really don't deserve as good of a team as they have.

Its already cost him once in his career, but its bound to happen again. Or somebody is gonna take a shot at him.

NFL fines Panthers Tyler Brayton $15,000 but no suspension for blindside hit (elbow) to a Falcons player in the back of the head during a punt by Falcons last week.
Supposedly, the Falcons player was pushed out of bounds and kept being pushed along the sidelines by the Panthers defense player until Brayton comes from the bench to elbow the player in the back of the head.
The fine was only announced Friday and done quietly since the Alosi incident was the bigger issue for the NFL that week which is why nobody noticed until Fox Sports found the video tape of the incident.

Rex Ryan Has Some Advice for His Kicker
BY DJ GALLO / DECEMBER 22, 2010
Rex Ryan
Hey, Nick. Good to see you. How you doin’?
Nick Folk
Good, coach. What’s up?
Rex Ryan
Well, son, it’s my job to always improve this team and I’ve thought of an idea that can help you.
Nick Folk
Great! Let’s hear it.
Rex Ryan
Well, you have a very strong foot, right?
Nick Folk
I guess so. And thanks for the compliment.
Rex Ryan
Sure thing. But how strong is it really? Do you know that I’ve never seen your foot? And I mean your bare foot. I bet it’s very muscular, isn’t it? And I bet it’s all glistening with sweat, too. Isn’t it?
Nick Folk
Sure, I suppose. I mean, as feet go, it’s probably more muscular than most.
Rex Ryan
Oh, baby. Nick, can you take your shoes off for me right now? Socks, too.
Nick Folk
Okay.
[He removes his shoes and socks.]
Rex Ryan
Ohmigod. Ohmigod. They’re so hot.
Nick Folk
Uh, thanks. But, coach? Umm … I don’t know how to say this, but your erection is kind of bothering me.
Rex Ryan
It’s an erect penis, son. I’m wearing sweatpants. There’s nowhere else for it to go. We’re men here, Nick. We’re a team of men. If you have a problem with penises, then you don’t belong on this team.
Nick Folk
No, no, no. I’m not saying that. Just … never mind.
Rex Ryan
Good then. Okay, so I’m now going to rub my penis along the base of your
toes until I achieve orgasm.
Nick Folk
What?! No! What the hell, man? No way! You’re a freaking weirdo.
Rex Ryan
I am not a weirdo. This is a personal issue.
Nick Folk
Okay. Just … whatever. I’m going to leave now. What did you call me over here for anyway?
Rex Ryan
I wondered if you had ever considered kicking barefoot.
Nick Folk
I tried that once. I didn’t like it.
Rex Ryan
And I also wanted to have sex with your feet.
Nick Folk
Yeah. I know. I’m going to leave now.
Rex Ryan
Okay, can you just call Mark over for me?
Nick Folk
Sure.
[He walks away towards Mark Sanchez.]
Nick Folk
Hey, Mark. Coach wants to see you.
Mark Sanchez
Okay. I’ll be right there. Did he say what he wants?
Nick Folk
No.
Mark Sanchez
He probably just wants to have sex with my feet again. I guess I better take my shoes off.

Well, I'm probably speaking from a selfish perspective. When the Giants hosted the Eagles last week, I was afraid they might flex it. The NFL probably would have if it weren't for the Packers playing New England on Sunday night. It would have been a real pain in the ass to have to go to a prime time game on a Sunday night after expecting an afternoon game. It's a real bitch with the travel, the length of the game etc. on a work night.
I understand where you're coming from, being that you guys especially probably get limited games anyway across the pond. I think it just comes with the territory that you can't expect every game to be a memorable one in prime time.

All Fantasy games for Yahoo! that have PPD will get credit for games. Don't worry about taking out Vick, DeSean jackson and whatever other Giants/Eagles you may have on your team.

Patriots locked #1 seed with the 34-3 win over the Bills.
Only 3rd time they've locked the #1 seed since Belichick arrived and both times they made it to the Superbowl (won in 03, lost in 07).

Not the way I would have hoped but the Jets have finally clinched their play off place.

- I wish the Jets would've one that damn game
- David Garrad just cost his team the playoffs, period. Dumb INT
- Wish Redskins would've lost because i don't want WSH thinking they're "better" w/o McNabb and with Grossman
- Mad that the Eagles game is delayed till Tues. But that means i get to watch football 3 days in a row (4 if you count the Thurs game, but i don't get NFL Network).
-Still mad the Bears won because i do NOT want to play on that fucking swamp of a field.

Good to see nothing has changed from last week. Dodge shanks a punt, Giants still can't cover the middle of the field and give up an 80 yard TD pass up the middle. Then Eli throws his 21st INT of the year.

Why did I allow myself to think the Giants actually had a chance in this game? The NFL might be week-to-week but losses like last week will always linger.

Broncos coaching staff making sure they're unemployed for as long as possible after this season. Way to almost get Gaffney killed with your repetitive, predictable playcalling

their clever gameplan of throwing a screen every third down isn't going great
