Both games have been crazy today. Heck the game I'm looking forward to isn't even till tomorrow at 4 lol Baltimore losing tomorrow would make my day but I don't think that is gonna happen. Then again I didn't think Seattle had a chance today either.

If they draw the Bears next week by way of the Packers winning then they can beat the Bears provided Jay Cutler is a turnover machine like hes capable of being.
Following that, if they Packers beat the Falcons, the NFC Championship game would be in Seattle.
So its possible the way I saw it.

This is almost the most dramatic season i've seen since watching the NFL.
-Greatest Run in playoff/NFL history lol
-Greatest Comeback in NFL season history
-Devin Hester dominates special teams
-Greatest MNF performance in NFL history
-Greatest Playoff upset in NFL history (from a stats standpoint)
-Witnessing the new wave of RBs (i want to say the '06 class?? 10 of them are 1,000 yards rushing for the season)
-Favre's last NFL season (hopefully)
-1st ranked offense & 1st ranked defense team doesn't make the playoffs (wtf)
-Vince Young finally leaves the "wont ever get anywhere b/c of the same coach, same scheme" Titans. Hope he stays in the AFC and destroys them.
-im sure im missing some stuff

Yeah and both of them were split 1-1. Though the Ravens lost at home and won in Pittsburg. That game was during the Big Ben suspension though, so it might have been a fluke. The Pats and Jets both split the games winning each of their home game.

So it's legal to shove a member of the receiving team into the ball so that the kicking team can recover a live ball? Didn't realize that.
He instigated the contact. So, he shoved himself into the ball by trying to block the Eagles player for some unknown reason.
He wasn't going to accomplish anything if he had gotten to the ball he would have been tackled for no gain. He was just there to be an asshole and he paid for it.

Hmph. Dennison has been with Denver in the past, but he's got an offensive mind. Same goes with Koettler. Not a big fan of John Fox. Gregg Williams might work, we need a guy who knows defense to fix this mess we're in.
Meanwhile, Carolina has hired Ron Rivera to be head coach. Bummer.

For the record, in case you missed it, I was dead against firing McDaniels. But yes, that would be a great move for you guys. Especially Bradford. McD has done wonders with Cassel and Orton, and to a lesser extent Tebow. The Rams passing offense will be great with him. Rushing, ahhh not so much

Im pulling for the Jets 100% (want a Ravens home game in the AFC Champ Game) but I dont think its going to happen. theres never been a 5 seed vs 6 seed Champ Game since they went to 12 teams in 1990.
A 5 seed made it to the NFC title game in 2006 (Panthers) but lost. The Giants were a 5 Seed in 2008 when they won the Super Bowl. The Jets were a 5 seed last year and lost.
A 6 seed made it to the AFC title in 2006 (Steelers) and won, the first time a 5/6 seed made it to the Super Bowl under the current 12 team playoff format (since 1990). 2009 saw both 6 seeds making it to their respective title games (Ravens and Eagles) and they both lost.

I kinda like this Jets strategy. People are all worried about bulletin board material but seriously if you're an NFL player in the playoffs and you're not already as motivated as humanly possible, then why are you playing? Go away. So now the Jets are just trying to push the Patriots into proving a point, which might make the Pats just a little more reckless in their approach.
I dunno I still think the Patriots will win, but it should be close.

They go into every division game as a must-win because every division victory is actually two victories. It gives you a better overall record and the tiebreaker for division record. Also the AFC East has a three way tie two times since the divisions were re-aligned. So, they know all to well the importance of every single division game because they usually decide the division.

Cam Newton is entering the NFL draft as a junior. Question is, does he end up in Carolina, Arizona, Buffalo, or Cincinnati?
Honestly, Cincy is fine at QB with Carson Palmer and Buffalo would be dumb to draft him as they have a pretty damn good QB in Ryan Fitzpatrick. The guy just needs a better offensive line and a solid RB to hand off to.
Pretty sure Newton ends up in Carolina as the number 1 pick.
Boomer

I really don't see him going #1. He's certainly a first-rounder, but he isn't the kind of QB that is guaranteed to be good in the NFL. I would imagine someone will get a steal for him later in the first round.

01-13-2011, 11:23 PM
Might be a bad choice as 1st Round pick since a few ESPN analysts were saying he's at least a 2-3 year development style player and not a player to just insert to start a season.
Although everyone thought the same of Tebow as not worth a 1st Round pick and Denver picked him up. Same draft where quality passing QBs were dropped till 2nd or later rounds (Clausen, McCoy).
This year's 1st Round and Top 10 is supposed to be very heavy in defensive players (maybe 1-2 offense style players taken in top 10).

Surprised you wouldnt mention the little tidbit that the Ravens 2 wins came when Rottenburger wasn't playing, because by god I havent heard that enough whenever anyone mentions how the Ravens won the first game this season.
Also, fun tidbit, all Baltimore Football teams (Colts/Ravens) are 0-4 vs the Steelers in the playoffs. 2 losses by the Colts and 2 losses by the Ravens.
But Ive got a feeling that all of that is going to change today.

I think you added an extra 1 to the Ravens record:
They won their first 5 playoff games (4 to win the Super Bowl and 1 Wild Card Game the following year) before losing their next 3 in 2002, 2004 and 2007 (the only game that wasnt close was Pittsburgh in 2002). Since then they were 2-1 in 2008, 1-1 in 09 and 1-0 so far this year which tallies up to a 9-5 record or .642%.
They are 8-3 on the road, with 2 losses in Pittsburgh and a loss in Indianapolis and the win in Super Bowl 35 (Ravens were technically the road team). They're only 1-2 at home though (lone win against Denver in the Wild Card round on the way to the Super Bowl) with home losses in 04 to Titans and 07 to the Colts.
If the Ravens win today, maybe I shouldnt root for the Jets tomorrow. Its not like the Ravens didnt win in NE last year and the game earlier this year was close...
Per the NFL, they consider the Super Bowl separate from the Playoffs, so the Ravens are 8-5 which is .615, #2 all time percentage wise behind the Steelers at 31-19 for .620.
Also, was looking at the records and Ed Reed has 7 interceptions in 7 playoff games. The Record is 9 by Bill Simpson in 11 games.

My buddy who is a die hard steelers fan said he is worried that even if Pitt wins that they will be beat up going in next week against the jets or pats.. That will be a hard hitting game to but nothing compares to bal/Pitt..

If I was a Steelers fan..I would want the Jets because the Jets will probably be just as worn down should they win and at least it would be a home game for the Steelers.
and oh boy..its supposed to be snowing in Pittsburgh..

Im starting to get a bad feeling that its not going to be a close game one way or another. So many people are saying its gonna be close, and the previous however many games have been close..it wouldnt surprise me if its not.
Still think the games today will be better than the games tomorrow.

Bulger getting a ring after not even taking 1 snap through the whole season wouldnt be the end of the world. I would take Bulger over the Steelers backup Byron Leftwich any day of the week.
I do not like Marc Bulger. He is an ex Ram, you should know this.

Hated that Tomlin had to already use a challenge, but at least Triplett realized the call was too blatant for him to not overturn. Triplett has traditionally been anti-Steelers.

If someone on Baltimore seriously injures Roethlisberger or Ward, I will never root against the Ravens ever again.

Really? Wow, I'm speechless. It's one thing to root for/against someone, but to wish them bodily harm?

If it makes you feel better, I wish bodily harm on you too.
