FearedSanctity
10-10-2010, 02:34 PM
I fucking HAAAAATE returning from commercial just for a kickoff, then going right back.

To make it worse, with only 45 seconds left in the quarter. They'll likely come back again, run one play, then go back again.

IC Champion
10-10-2010, 02:38 PM
Whats with all this coaches going for it on 4th down this year, take the points thats twice today teams have gone for inside the 2, and both times they were denied, just take the points.

Droford
10-10-2010, 02:48 PM
Ravens are dominating the Broncos 14-0, should be 21-0 if they had gotten in from the 1 on 4 downs.

FearedSanctity
10-10-2010, 02:51 PM
lol, if they couldn't do it and there wasn't a penalty to call it back then it never "should" have been a TD

Yeah, with the plays they called, they shouldn't have scored, and they didnt. You have Joe Flacco and the half yard line, qb sneak it in.

IC Champion
10-10-2010, 03:04 PM
Yeah, Denver isn't going to score any points today, cant even get to midfield. Ravens will kill you on 3rd and long all day.

FearedSanctity
10-10-2010, 03:06 PM
Denver kills Denver with shitty penalties (Holding on a 33 yard run, that last BS false start) and trying to run the ball at all

IC Champion
10-10-2010, 03:10 PM
Your not beat Baltimore just throwing, too good defensively to just pass, you gotta keep em guessing, unfortunatly Denver has no running game, and Orton has no time.

Really nice game by the Ravens. 5-0 all time vs the Broncos at home and all wins by 10 or more pts.

4-1 now and in first place, best record in the AFC (even if the Jets win tomorrow Ravens > Jets), and tied with the Bears and Packers overall.

I don't know if there is any team that I would agree is a clear cut favorite in either conference. The only team I would be willing to say is a clear front runner right now would be the Steelers, depending if they keep it going when Ben returns. Other than that, both conferences look wide open to me.

Yeah I would agree with all those points. I guess I should say, I don't think one team is so dominant that it would shock me if they lost. Every team this year looks beatable for one reason or another.

Gonzo

God, they're fucking awful. I don't know if this Reynaud guy is supposed to be a good returner, but he hasn't been. Tynes had a good day yesterday, but before that, he was 3 of 6. And Matt Dodge, jesus.

I was talking to my father yesterday and we came to the conclusion that the Giants had to try to change something with Dodge's mechanics that is making it hard for him to punt. Most punters and kickers don't get drafted, and for the Giants to use a pick on a guy to be this terrible makes no sense. He couldn't have been this bad in college, he just couldn't have.

Carl Banks said maybe the guys on special teams just aren't good enough, and some starters should be on there, he played special teams back in the day.

I've noticed Terrel Thomas and Corey Webster playing as gunners on punt returns. I don't know if the Giants have ever used starters there. Overall, I don't think the coverage teams are that bad. I would have to look at the numbers.

The punting game has definitely blown the big one so far. The kicking game has been pretty lackluster as well. Now that they've moved Rosenfels to the holder on place kicks, hopefully Tynes will improve. Kickers are the brunt of a lot of jokes, but snapping, holding, and kicking the ball aren't that easy.

FearedSanctity
10-11-2010, 07:14 PM
Denver will be taking on the Jets short three defensive starters: Dawkins, Goodman, Ayers. They'll also be short second stringers Woodyard and McBath.

Oh joy.

Gonzo
10-11-2010, 07:20 PM
Should be good times. I hate when the Giants get hit by the injury bug. They've had to battle through some key guys being out, but so far it's gone alright. My biggest concern was C Shaun O'Hara. Adam Koets has stepped in and played well by all appearances so far. I haven't noticed if he is making the line calls, or he is getting help from one of the guards though.

Some NFL news for the day.

Terrell Owens feels that his $2 million salary this year is basically similar to playing for "free" and he tried to give input on Bengals changing their offense game plan. He also tried to put blame on the Patriots for signing Brady to a new deal but not Moss.

Alex Smith keeps starter job as QB for the 49ers and still has support from the owner to stay as the starter. Smith leads the league in INTs at 9 and also owns a record worst starter QB for the 49ers in last 30+ years.

Brett Farve apologizes for causing a distraction this year for the Vikings. NFL won't announce any potential punishments until their investigation in Wang-gate is complete.

Why the Fuck is Ladainian Tomlinson so good now?

He hits that hole like it's 2006 all over again.

I think it was last week either from a press conference or from his own mouth where it was explained the differences in running style SD and NY Jets have.

In SD he was allowed to "dance" more and do whatever he wanted while NY Jets have more of a run-and-pound style running game and offensive line. Also better motivation since Rex Ryan is more verbal than the coaches Tomlinson had during his time in San Diego.

He still needs to prove he won't disappear or suck during the playoffs since he was one of a few reasons why SD never got past the AFC title game.

Denver will be taking on the Jets short three defensive starters: Dawkins, Goodman, Ayers. They'll also be short second stringers Woodyard and McBath.

Oh joy.

Ayers out 2-3 months.

Dawkins out 2-3 weeks

That might have been the biggest 2 minute WTF to end a game so far this season.

Jets did everything they could to give both enough time left and the game away while the Vikings managed to kill any hope of a comeback with 3 horrible plays.

Went to the game last night. Fucking hate the layout of the new stadium in the "concourse" area. In the old stadium to get to our seats we walked in the gate and bam they had escalators going straight up to the mezzanine section (and upper deck I guess). To get the mezzanine I had to walk in this narrow ass area and then you would run into luxury boxes and have to walk behind them every time. And then it was like a huge ass maze up different staircases and walkways and stuff. Took f*cking forever to get to our side of the mezzanine level. Really hated the layout. The seats/game watching/big screens are awesome though

Fucking lightning was unbelievable for awhile and then it "effing monsooned" at two different times. Got totally drenched. Saw some d-bag Vikes fan with face paint get his ass kicked in the walkway which had come to a complete standstill after the game. I think they have improved parking area/road back on to the turnpike tho.

My other game this year is Thanksgiving night vs. thee Bengals. Should be pretty chill

Also was the 10th anniversary of the Monday Night miracle. I was there with my dad. We were legit about to leave in the 3rd quarter but EVERYBODY was leaving so my dad decided to "walk" me around the stadium and stuff to kill time so the traffic wouldn't be so bad when we finally left. And then the Jets started coming back and there was nobody in the stadium so we walked way down into the lower level and sat in like the 4th row on the 40 yard line.

Agents striking back in the agents-college players debate by leaking information of how Sports Illustrated and Mel Kipler Jr were involved in the whole issue.

SI is accused of paying recruits and potential NFL rookies money and favorable coverage on their magazine during the 1990s while the players were still in college.

Mel Kipler Jr is accused of working with recruits and potential rookies on the behalf of agents by acting as a "middle man" in the whole situation. He would give "pro"/agent advice in both which agents to sign with and how to improve their stocks in an upcoming NFL draft.

He could be.. Look at his stats.. No one is gonna be a SUPERSTAR WR in the Saints Offense cause of how much they spread the ball around, but Lance Moore has been money every time he gets play time.. He is fast and makes spectacular catches, and is good running after the catch.. If Brees spotlighted him like Romo does Austin, his numbers would be just as good..

Romo looks to spread the ball, he has Witten, Williams, Bryant, Felix Jones and Austin. Austin just gets open more often than not, and it sure-handed.

That's like saying Jeremy Shocky could be as good as Antonio Gates, but Rivers likes to throw to Gates, thats just crazy.

Austin has matched Moore's entire career output in a single season.

You named 4 other threats Romo throws to.. Brees threw TD passes to like 11 players last year..

I named the main threats, my bad man, Breese throws TDs to anyone whos open, so I'm sure in that system, if Moore was as good as Austin he would certainly put up some numbers. Weather or not Austin is being spotlighted by Romo is irrelevant really, it's like your trying to take something away from because he can get open and catch passes.

I guess Marvin Harrison was just average WR who Peyton Manning liked to throw to. It doesn't matter how many players caught a TD, all that proves is Breese throws to whoevers open.
