I think now it's fairly clear what happened in Dallas. Players sabotaged their season to get Wade Phillips fired. Not all of them but enough to make this turnaround in play fairly obvious that there's more going on than just a coaching change. Let's not forget that Garrett couldn't get his offense to play to their potential all season. Now all of a sudden he has to motivate the offense and defense and miraculously they make a complete turnaround against a really good opponent.
I'm not one for conspiracies but there was definitely some collusion to get Phillips out in Dallas-Ft. Worth.

I don't think it was collusion so much as players just quit. Particularly on defence. The offense had struggled all year and lost games they should have won, and wasted a couple very good defensive performances. After about 1-5 and Romo going down, players on defence just started mailing it in. They could get no pressure in the last 3 games whatsoever. But then again, collusion wouldn't surprise me.

The thing that I keep going back to is that Garrett isn't a new voice. He's been there all along. I can't imagine he's acting too differently than he did as OC. So that means the only thing different about the Cowboys is that Phillips isn't there to say or do anything. And I just can't believe that Wade was so bad that the mere lack of his presence would make a team do a 180 in a week.

I agree with you. I don't like Garrett, he's part of the problem. But I guess Wade wasn't strict at all, and players slacked at practice. Apparently the first things Garrett did was make sure players show up on time and run the the drills properly and promptly. If those are things that need to be addressed then maybe Wade needed to go, but I think Garrett needed to as well.

Its similar to the time Parcells was the coach when the team struggled and then magically played great the next season after he left. Of course the main difference was back then the players were upset at the tough discipline and training Parcells did and loved Wade Phillips laid back style.

I know, it's smart. But it's a different game now, that is becoming a dying philosophy. Teams opt for screen passes and checks downs to backs rather than running and trying to grind out the game.

My dad and I left shortly after the black out. A fight broke out in our section that was brewing for some time. It was freaky as hell when the stadium went black.
I just can't wrap my head around how you let another NFL team out play and out coach you to that degree. I'm sure every team has a game or two like that every year, but fuck.

I was surprised at the number of people who left right after the blackout. There was still a whole quarter and a half of football to be played. My guess is that a lot of people worried another blackout would happen and the game would get delayed even further.
Marking out over Nicks' TD only to have it overturned was fucking heartwrenching. Left right after the next play when Eli fumbled.
Amazing what one penalty can do to change the game. McKenzie can't be on the team next year. Though I couldn't tell if it was blatant or not. Holding occurs on every NFL play so I really don't know what the refs look for to actually throw the flag.

Overall, not impressed with the new stadium. It looks like a goddamn prison from the outside, and the interior is retardedly designed. After going up one escalator you need to walk across a whole concourse to get to the next one instead of them all being grouped together. They have TV screens right smack in the middle of the concourses so people just stand there and watch and fuck up traffic flow. And in the bathroom there were two urinals that were fully kitty-cornered, making it impossible to use both at the same time.
Seats we had were farther to the left of midfield than before, and way higher up. Where we are now is about the equivalent of the top row at the old stadium. Plus the upper deck is so much farther back. Hard to see shit at times.

Horrible ending for the Texans since the defense did everything correct on the hail mary pass but unlucky since a Jags WR caught the ball after it was swatted in the air.
Meanwhile Buffalo finally wins its first game of the year.

Yeah meant horrible for the Texans since the player did the correct thing by swatting and not trying to catch it. For the Jaguars, it was a great play since their player is right at the spot where the ball gets deflected.
End result was a huge win for the Jaguars and a horrible loss for the Texans.

Not sure why they're that far apart but a few "newer" stadiums from the 90's or 2000's have issues because they're grouped together like going down stairs and people tend to hesitate a step before getting on so when leaving and getting on the 2nd one it causes a bottle neck while people are thrown off the first. I remember being at the Staples Center in LA back in 1999 and it was an issue of people being crushed and I noticed AA in Miami has the same design.

So, we meet again.... Pats v. Colts... now we're back in Foxboro... doesn't sound like weather will be an issue... should be a good game... Still a young defense, if anyone can expose them it's Peyton...
the AFC is wide open... the Jets can write their ticket for the Division and probably #1 seed if they beat the Pats in NE... the Pats need to beat the Colts this week and the Jets to do the same.
I have a feeling the AFC East and probably the AFC #1 seed will come down to "like opponents"

He was definitely half-assing it during the Pats game, especially with the extra point but he does have a case about the field being all torn up and loose. Surprised there hasn't been a lot of injuries from the field itself and the Steelers defense itself has no problem with the field.
I think he was averaging about 1 missed FG per game and most were inside the 30 yard line which hurts more than if these were the 40-50 yard misses.

We'll see. It's just funny how after that one game the sports world is now crowning the guy. I suppose that's only natural though, since it was a national game last night and that's what they do.
And in any event I wouldn't really trade the Patriots quarterback since they're in decent shape. Brady's got 17 touchdowns and a shit-ton of yards too, but that's just statistics. The intangibles concern me more. As long as he gets to the playoffs and perform there I'm not too concerned about much else.
Plus I will forever hate Vick with every fiber of my being, regardless of his performance ont he field, because of what he did.

I don't really care if you want to grant Vick the distinction of best quarterback or not. To me, arguing who gets that title is splitting hairs. I will say this, he is the last guy I want to be playing quarterback for the opposition based upon the high level he is currently playing at. The guy is a nightmare to defend. He has always been a superb athlete, but the way he is making throws and playing from the pocket now catapults him to unknown levels. I think the only way to really definitively beat him is to knock him out of the game. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone, but if I remember correctly, the Giants beat the Falcons years ago when he got knocked out of the game.
Otherwise, the dude is an absolute beast. He is playing just as good as any other quarterback in the league right now, if not better. Nobody can argue that. If you try, you're just a homer.

Yeah I just meant if someone tried to say "insert your favorite team's QB" was definitively better. I look at like this: I would rather play against Peyton Manning or Drew Brees than Michael Vick. To me, I'm not trying to slight Manning or Brees because they are both excellent quarterbacks. Right now, Vick is throwing the ball as well as anyone (even if he doesn't throw up equivalent numbers, for example 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns passing.) The fact he can take off at any time just makes him harder to defend. I mean, I know none of this is a revelation to anyone. But am I making sense?
At least with some of the other quarterbacks, who are less mobile, you have a chance to disrupt their game by getting to them and laying hits on them etc. With Vick, that is so much more of a harder thing to do, which is why I feel that he is the last guy I would want playing quarterback against my favorite team.
I know, athletes have been accused to rape, sexual assault, and even murder, and those rarly get mentioned when compared to Vick. Dante Stollworth managed to kill a person while driving drunk. I think the fact Vick was a young black quaterback who was living the dream had something to do with it.
I think maybe things had a little bit to do with the fact he plays quarterback, given the attention that is given to the position in general. I think it mostly had to do with the fact it was a case of gross animal abuse, and people are out of their fucking minds about that stuff. I think the acts were reprehensible, but there are guys that have killed human beings who got nowhere near the amount of scrutiny and public outcry. At the end of the day, Vick did his time, and by all accounts is active in speaking to the community against his past actions. Can he take back what he did? No, but he can certainly do what he can to make peace.

Yeah, as far as that goes, it goes both ways. Unfortunately there are a number of things that will be effected along racial lines for generations to come because of the culture fostered through this nation's development.

The NFL should investigate if they believe a team would deliberately interview only white candidates versus a minority, but to mandate that minorities must be interviewed keeps the issue alive, in my opinion.
Now, don't get me twisted, because I have nothing against a minority head coach. How do you think it feels to a minority if they are the one brought in to comply with an affirmative action rule? Especially in a situation where they know that the team may already have someone in mind? They know that they're just going through the motions. And that's bullshit. LOL, the Shannahans are a coaching joke. When will people realize that Shannahan had nothing to do with Denver winning those two superbowls.

I got Texans/Jets then paid programming for P90X then some old clips from Dean Martins variety show then 60 Minutes..

You won't be watching the Saints?

It's the NFL who decides what games to show in every area, not whatever your local stations are. If your local team is home, there can't be any game being aired against it. Since the Saints have the late game, that is going to be the only game on. Sorry.
Kris P Lettus
11-21-2010, 03:40 PM
That is not true.. They show a double header every week with a game on CBS during the Saints games..
OssMan
11-21-2010, 03:42 PM
Yes, CBS has a double header, but since the Saints are home and have the late game, you're not going to see the second game of it.

Yes but I flip back and forth if it's a good AFC game.. We, as fans, get 5 games a week (6 with NFL Network Thurs night games..
I only get 3 today..

St. Louis and San Francisco aren't seeing the Colts/Patriots game either if that makes you happy.

Yes, CBS has a double header, but since the Saints are home and have the late game, you're not going to see the second game of it.
But when the Saints have a noon game, CBS shows a game against it, regardless of double of single header..

Pretty sure this isn't true, as I can remember plenty of times the Cowboys playing on Fox (almost always an early game) and CBS still showing the double header

This is the first time in the history of the rotational double header, they have just plain out not shown a game that is supposed to be broadcast..

When the home team is being shown on the network with the NFL single game, the doubleheader station can only air one of its games. When this happens, there are only two games shown in the market. However, when the home team is being shown on the network with the NFL doubleheader, all three games can air in the same market. [10

Where do you live exactly? The rules may differ slightly depending on if you actually live in New Orleans itself or somewhere close to it like Mississippi

I live in Northern Virginia and the Skins and Titans are on FOX, and since the Skins are away, they are showing Baltimore vs. Carolina, since Baltimore is the "secondary" local team, and the Colts/Patriots afterwards.

Look at those maps. The Saints haven't had a home game with another game showing opposite of it in New Orleans all year.

I can't fucking figure out the secondary team here in Roanoke. One week it's Baltimore, then it's Pitt, sometimes it's Tennessee. Never seen a Carolina game though. Fox always has Skins and Dallas
