Fucking disgraceful decision in the United game
Keane was tugging at Gattuso in the area, and then fell put 2 hands on the ball in the area, and nothing was given, not even a foul by Gattuso which would have been acceptable.....a disgrace.

They reckoned Carvalho fouled Valdes when Terry scored that header. And to be fair to them, he did, but it cancels out that shady decision by Frisk, the Duran Duran wannabe, in the first leg.
I was really nervous towards the end for some reason. Always want English clubs to do well, but never thought I'd be this passionate about Chelsea. The sad thing is, at the final whistle I was thinking of Dazza's ecstatic little face, and how I'd like to give him a huge hug and cook him a roast beef dinner.

Ya no doubt my country man Carvalho held Valdes and the goal should not have stood. Still Barca got a freebie on that handball call on Paulo Ferreira when he had his back to the ball

:D Shame ITV are gay, Sky would have shown the fans after the match, in which case I would most likely have been on there waving my scarf around whilst dancing. I would always loved to see my reaction to a goal, I bet it looks great. Best fucking game I have been to, might even top the 97 F.A cup final. Bring on the next team, I honestly don't give two squirts of piss who it is. I shall be there for both legs.
I was never nervous, I always knew we'd do it, and I have always always always said we would go through. I have been waiting for this day for nearly two fucking weeks now, I was so pumped, and never even thought we'd go out.
Barca dived so much in the first leg that Carvalho's thing was what they deserved, how Ronaldinho didn't get booked is beyond me, he flipped out.
After the game I withelf my number and phoned the duck, just to say "HERNAN CRESPO, HERNAN CRESPO, HELLO, HELLO, HERNAN CRESPO, HERNAN CRESPO, HELLO, HELLO" and then hang up.
I want Arsenal to go out as they have the worst fans EVER, seriosuly, EVER, I swear none of them even own Arsenal shirts, and anyone that says to me "What a waste of 275 quid going to the nou camp and losing is a complete and utter spastic. But I am firmly behind Liverpool.

What a fucking awesome game. I've been saying it for ages, Ronaldinho is a fucking sick cunt. That second goal was just fucking incredible. Agree with Collina having a terrible game, usually he's on fire but not last night. I also thought Chelsea would advance but I didn't pick that scoreline, I thought they'd do it 1-0, ah well they're through anyway. Hope Arsenal gets the arse tomorrow.
My mate said it would be 4-1 and we all laughed at him. I thought Collina did well, he failed to spot that foul but other then that he was really good I thought. He spotted the dives, made it clear that players had to wait for the whistle, got the penalty spot on, I really thought he was quality.
And yes Wee gooner, getting a flight to Spain and back and the ticket cost that much.

BTW I heard that scuffle between Ronaldinho and a few ground staff post game had something to do with Eto being called a monkey by one of the officials...? Can anyone elaborate?
Theres nothing to elaborate to as of yet, Eto'o claims he was called a monkey, our stewards have denied it. Someone apparentley said something else to the Barca bench that annoyed Rijkard.
Wengerland
03-09-2005, 07:57 AM
Collina just seemed a bit more picky on the little things than he normally is, bit inconsistent in a few decisions, but he got the main calls right, apart from missing the foul on Valdes.
It was meant to have been Andre Villas (sp?), a Chelsea coach, who taunted the Barcelona bench straight after the final whistle. Eto'o apparantely spat at the steward who's alleged to have called him a monkey aswell.
Collina wasn't at all picky, he didn't care when we took a few free kicks with the ball rolling or when Barca took free kicks from further up then they should have been. But they were little things that didn't really matter. The only thing he did wrong was not book Ronaldinwho when he flipped out after we got our fourth goal.

Which is why he's the best - he lets the stuff that doesn't matter go, makes it a lot more fluid than refs who insist on absolutely every little thing by the book.
Wengerland
03-09-2005, 11:40 AM
Maybe it was just me then, just thought he gave a couple of free kicks when the challenges were fair. I hadn't seen a game he reffed for a while, so i probably had way too high expectations, given the crap referee's we get week in, week out.

Roque Junior's first Leeds United start has been voted the worst debut of all-time.
The Brazilian World Cup winner endured a nightmare introduction to Premiership football in a Sky-televised 4-0 thumping by Leicester City.
He was lucky to escape with a booking and was actually sent off in his next game for the club. After only meeting his new team-mates a couple of days earlier, it was a tough baptism for the South American who seemed shocked by the intensity and pace of the football.
Roque Junior was a clear winner with a quarter of the votes after the ten nominations were forwarded by [i]skysports.com readers.
Jesper Gronkjaer's awful start to life with Denmark, when he gifted Filippo Inzaghi of Italy a goal after only 30 seconds. He was later substituted but has since more than proved his worth to the national team.
Graeme Souness got life as Rangers player-manager off to a bad start when he was sent off in against Hibernian and that came third in our poll.
Top 10 nightmare debuts:
1. Roque Junior, Leeds v Leicester 25%
2. Jesper Gronkjaer, Denmark v Italy 16%
3. Graeme Souness, Rangers v Hibernian 15%
4. Chris Sutton, Chelsea v Sunderland 12%
5. Jon Dahl Tomasson, Newcastle v Sheff Wed 10%
6. Erik Thorstvedt, Spurs v Nott'm Forest 7%
7. Ulrich Le Pen, Ipswich v Bolton 7%
8. Garry Flitcroft, Blackburn v Everton 3%
9. Paul Butler, Eire v Czech Rep 2%
10.David White, England v Spain 2%

Yeah obviously it's a different context compared to someone saying "fucking black monkey", but to me monkey is not an intrinsically racist term. I just see it as meaning stupid/clumsy/whatever. Hey, if everyone else DOES see it as a racist term then fair enough. But I'd have thought Ronaldinho would be more upset being called a silly haired goofy toothed cunt than a monkey. :-\

Milan or Chelsea, but if i had to pick one i'd say Milan.
Lyon are a good side, i don't know if Bremen were very poor on the night but they're no mugs, and to get 10 goals over 2 games at this stage is a great achievement.
Lyon are gay, we will murder them if we get them.
I don't think there's much in it between Milan, Juve and Chelsea, just I think Cappello is the best manager of the three.
Cactus Sid

Anyone but Liverpool would beat Lyon, I just have this feeling.
We've gotta hope for PSV, realistically we can get a draw out there and beat them at home.
Wengerland
03-10-2005, 08:30 AM
I wouldn't say Lyon are up there with the best in Europe but that's 2 years in a row they've reached the quarters and are on course for a 4th successive French title and as poor as that league might be, it still has to be won. Last year Marseille and Monaco both reached European finals but didn't come close to Lyon in the league.
Just think that it would be a mistake to underestimate them, very technically gifted side and i doubt anyone would thrash them.
Wengerland
03-10-2005, 08:41 AM
Also, Liverpool wouldn't be guaranteed qualification if they win the champions league but finish 5th :| Then again, the FA would probably get UEFA to have them in and move Everton to the UEFA Cup, should they finish 4th.
It would be harsh on whoever misses out really, if Everton finish 4th then they thoroughly deserve a champions league place, but if Liverpool win it then they should be in as holders really. I can't see them winning it anyway, but still..:|
Are you sure Wengerland? We had this discussion on Rajah's, and apparently if Liverpool won and finish fifth then they take fourth spot, as you can't have five clubs in Europe from the same country.
Mr. Monday Morning
03-10-2005, 11:43 AM
You can't have 5 clubs in the same competition, I think is the rule.

It would just be cruel on Everton if they finish 4th but end up having to settle for a UEFA Cup place, but 5 clubs from one country in the same competition would be too much. This should have been done so many years ago. Oceania being it's own confederation deserves to have at least a full direct entry place (especially considering other regions like the American region has fucken 3 direct qualifying spots which is bullshit). However, being in the Asian Football Confederation has always been the better option I believe. This way, we can afford to lose a few games yet still qualify, unlike other qualifying attempts such as 1997 where we didn't lose at all yet still didn't get through! Plus Australia is more than capable of matching it with Asian teams, I think it's a great idea and sincerely hope that it goes ahead without FIFA or any other arsehole knocking it back.

I'm hearing New Zealand is against the move for some reason. Dunno why, just being annoying cunts seems to be the only reason I can think of - us moving out of their confederation does them the world of good
yianni
03-11-2005, 06:35 AM
They're fucking idiots if that's the case. Can't see why they should be annoyed about it. :|
Oceania has never deserved its own spot really. That would basically have said to Austrialia right you've got guarenteed entry
yianni
03-11-2005, 07:15 AM
Ogen that's what I'm saying. Technically Oceania, as a confederation, deserves at least 1 entry spot. Having said that, it would be all too easy for Australia to get into the World Cup every time. So joining Asia is the way to go for Australia, it would mean more quality and meaningful games and we could afford to slip a few times yet still qualify.
I just get fucking pissed off that such a big fuss is made by FIFA over Oceania yet these cunts give CONCACAF 3 and a half spots! For what? Fucking means the USA is a shoe-in every time. If anything, FIFA should merge Oceania and CONCACAF so that there are 4 qualifying spots. But I'm happy to take the Asian route. Anything other than fucking playing off against South Americans over 2 legs.
toxic rooster
03-11-2005, 07:24 AM
The point is, moving into Asia is the best chance Australia has.
Ogen's exactly right, of the 200 or whatever registered football associations around the world, 32 of them make the world cup finals. It wouldn't be right to gift us a place, but there's no perfect answer here. One spot is too much, half isn't enough. Basically we piss through the oceania qualifying groups beating island teams 30-0 - a foregone conclusion every time, and our whole chance of qualifying hinges on 2 results in the space of a week.

Wengerland

Probably bailed, he said he'd leave when his contract was up, which was at the end of next season, which rarely works out anyway. They've had a bad season really, just pretty inconsistent, like coming back from 2 down to win at Norwich and then not having a shot on target and losing at home to Bolton.
He always says how vital Shaun Wright-Phillips is to them and now he's out for 2 months (that Bolton game was the first without him) so he probably thought it might be better to jump before results get too bad and they drop down the table.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has angrily dismissed speculation linking him with the vacancy at Manchester City.
The Hoops' boss has been installed as one of the favourites to take over at the City of Manchester Stadium after Kevin Keegan left the club on Friday morning, but O'Neill insists he has no intention of leaving the Glasgow giants, where his focus is on the Scottish domestic double.
O'Neill said: "You are talking to the longest-serving manager in the SPL. Why would you ask me about this job at this stage of the season when you know we have some important games coming up?"
He added: "I have answered the question, I am here and I would imagine that I will be here next week and the week after that.
"Who knows? At one stage, you will ask me and I might have some different news for you.
"I have been asked this question umpteen times over a period of years and now I am sitting here being asked the same old questions.
"At some stage, if results don't go well, you will be sitting here with someone else. I think the fans realise that I am still here at the football club.
"I have been asked whether I will be leaving this football club every single day since I have been here and I'm still here and I am very pleased to be here.
"I don't think this has any affect on the dressing room, I just think this is journalistic spiel."

Ex-player banned from prison team
Former Premiership footballer Lee Hughes has been banned from playing for his prison's team for the rest of the season after being sent off in a match.
Hughes, 28, who was given a six-year sentence last August for causing death by dangerous driving, was in action for Featherstone jail near Wolverhampton.
One challenge led to a player going to hospital, a spokesman for opponents Fegg Hayes, from Stoke-on-Trent, said.
The ex-West Bromwich Albion striker was sent off for two bookable offences.
'High tackle'
The player who went to hospital needed stitches to his chin, the spokesman added.
Hughes has been in action for Featherstone in the Staffordshire County League since being moved to the jail and scored twice in the 5-2 home victory on Saturday.
Spokesman for the prison, Stuart Bennett, said: "He was sent off for two bookable offences.
"For the first one it was quite a high tackle definitely. For the second one in the second half he didn't stamp on the player but gave the impression that he did.
Contract terminated
"Featherstone Prison has a policy of banning all players for the rest of the season if they are sent off.
"But if he remains with us, the slate would be wiped clean ahead of next season."
Hughes was convicted of causing the death of father-of-four Douglas Graham, 56, by dangerous driving and fleeing the scene of the accident near his home in Meriden in November 2003.
Coventry Crown Court heard he had gone to a post-match drinking session before his £100,000 Mercedes sports car smashed into a Renault Scenic.
The striker, who has also played for Coventry City and Kidderminster Harriers, spent most of his career at Albion before having his contract terminated following his conviction.

Adriano  Inter through 4-2 on aggregate.
Connolly and Hughesy  feared the worst when we went 2 goals down so after that and playing on Sunday, it was a decent result, least we scored some. Only 2 points off the relegation zone now though.
Savage is right for once. Toshack is just being a cunt droping him. Hes clearly one of their best players so its purely being a dick on Toshack's part. If it was a friendly then grand but for 2 qualifying games its shit.

Inter would beat PSV, and probably Lyon, Liverpool and i'll say Bayern. To be honest i think they'd give most teams a good game, 1 defeat in about 45 games now isn't it? Unbeaten away from home this season so if they could keep that up in the latter stages i wouldn't fancy many sides going to the San Siro and beating them.
And they got to the semi's 2 season's ago.

Savage is also clearly a dipshit who has objected to Toshack since the day he came in and has been looking for any excuse not to play for him. If he was so proud to play for Wales he'd shut up and play when he's picked, not whine like a little bitch and throw a tantrum because the manager wants to see who else is available, considering he already lost a bunch of players due to retirement.
Yeah Savage is crying but to be fair, Toshack's answer for not picking him was kinda lame. Savage would walk into the Wales team on his worse day.
Wengerland
03-16-2005, 04:27 PM
Plus he's said he'll be happy to play for them when Toshack leaves, he could have retired like the others when Toshack first got the job, but he decided to give it a go. Missed the friendly through injury and now he's left out of a squad that just has 6 midfielders and even then you've got Williams and Koumas, who aren't regular starters for their clubs.
Toshack quit his first spell as boss after 1 game, and managing your country should be one of the greatest honours in football, so i can see where Savage and the others who've quit are coming from.

Plus he's said he'll be happy to play for them when Toshack leaves
When did he say that? If it was before all this then he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack. If he said it after...well, he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack, *and* it shows how serious he is about retiring.
Mr. Monday Morning
03-16-2005, 06:00 PM
Anyway, can't believe I wasted 90 minutes of my life on Liverpool - Blackburn. Atrocious. Totally forgot that Newcastle were playing, wish I'd remembered cause they creamed Olympiakos 4-0, so fair play to them.
Wengerland
03-16-2005, 06:21 PM
He said it after 'retiring', but he doesn't want to play for Toshack and Toshack won't pick him anyway, considering Toshack said he'd give those who were originally against his appointment a clean slate he's being as petulant as Sav.
David Weir has come out of international retirement, if Shearer would have they'd have mass celebrations, but if Savage does then it'll be because he was too petulant, sure. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who agrees with the idea that the midfielders Wales have are better than Savage and they'll be a worse team without him.
When did he say that? If it was before all this then he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack. If he said it after...well, he's being a petulant little shit because of a personal problem with Toshack, *and* it shows how serious he is about retiring.
No quote but I think he did say that.
Regardless of his personality, do you honestly think he is not good enough to walk into the 24? Toshack clearly is holding a grudge instead of being a real man and living up to his word.

With or without Robbie Savage Wales are not going to qualify for the World Cup. The rest of the qualifiers are in effect friendlies, so what's wrong with Toshack assessing what other options he has. Besides which I doubt Savage would make it to Euro 2008 anyway.
Savage can dish it out but can't take it, basically.
For the aussies - Tim Cahill has won Oceania Player of the Year.
Also, found this rather hilarious:
Diouf in new spitting allegations
El-Hadji Diouf has been accused of spitting at a beggar and a Big Issue vendor after leaving a London nightclub.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the controversy-free striker left Chinawhite in Soho, according to the Daily Mirror.
After reportedly 'shouting obscenities at the paparazzi outside the club,' the loveable Senegal international then reportedly spat at a beggar and a Big Issue seller.
The Mirror quotes an onlooker stating: "He was really, really abusive and swearing at everyone in sight.
"Then he turned round and spat in the direction of a tramp who was outside the club. I couldn't tell if he hit anyone but it was still really disgusting."
As a rather bizarre conclusion to the night, Diouf then had to hail a taxi as his car had been towed away.

o and diouf is a disgrace, when he was at our ground he spat at a 10 year old kid then sprayed water at him from a water bottle, ok not the biggest crime the second thing but not proffesional behaviour.
h'e must have a physcological problem that only kicks in once he gets on a pitch, its like one of my mates, he doesnt swear at all but get him on a pitch and he gets football terets its funny as hell!
and i dont see what savage's problem is, toshack says he wants to look at some other options so savage retires, just goes to show he thinks he is a bigger player than what he really is.
has he even played 2 games in a row since january?? last i saw of him he was sat in the crowd watching blackburn (poss cup tied) but im sure they said he was injured aswell so why shouldnt he be dropped for wales??
i also dont agree with sven saying andy johnson might not be in his next squad which is stupid, give the guy a chance what have they got to lose. he's the only forward playing on a regular basis anyway as owen is on the bench most of time for real, defoe (who is quality btw) is on and off the bench all the time at spurs & rooney IMO isnt a out and out striker, i see him as more of a play maker.

West Ham v Leicester tomorrow night, always a difficult match for me, I've got two Hammers in my family and now one in my class at college, plus we've only won 1 in our last 15 visits to Upton Park, as much as I like to stay faithful, we've got no chance.

I think he will, he looked great after his goal on Tuesday, and i reckon we've got a decent chance, West Ham fans will get on the teams back if they struggle and the pressure is really mounting on Pardew as it is.
Weird thing is the only time we've beat them was under one of our worst managers, Peter Taylor, and i was in Spain at the time. I remember asking 2 Portsmouth fans who myself and my dad met at a bar if they knew the score and they said we'd lost 4-2
Got the paper the following morning to find that super Darren Eadie had got the only goal. I suppose the moral of the story is not to trust people you find in a bar at 2am, who have clearly been drinking for hours :(

Milan are the only team to have beaten Inter this season, but in that game Inter battered them but couldn't score so you never know, it was just a shot re-directed by Kaka which lost it for them.
Both sides are similiar in attacking options, but defensively Milan are much better.

Yeah I have a similar story to that, 2 years back Arsenal had a goalless draw with Ajax which I missed on TV that morning, was gutted all day because someone on the train said Ajax had won 2-0.
Felt slightly better when I found out we'd drawn, but that train guy is still a cunt.

Just seen it starts at 12, hopefully Newcastle avoid Villareal. CSKA Moscow shouldn't be under-estimated either.
