Spurs were without Parker so it evens out.

So then the Celtics would still win if it evens it out...

They wont beat Boston or Detroit in 4 out of 7 games.

I dont think Boston can stop SA with a healthy Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan in a 7 game series.

Jim Rome: "(The Lakers) are the real deal. Other than injury, they have no weakness. You have the alpha dog phenom, the best player in the league in (Kobe) and Lamar Odom who's healthy and in his prime and Pau Gasol who has been a freaking revelation. The length of the big three is incredible, they play so well together and that's attributed to Pau Gasol. I don't think I've seen a better mid-season trade than the one Mitch Kupchak worked for this guy. He looks and plays like he's been with them for 5 years. There was no learning curve, no adjustments whatsoever. The guy's an artist and he's brilliant in the open floor and around the basket. Plus, he's somebody Bryant trusts, and better yet, respects. And it's not just the big three, the Lakers bench is great. Guys like Luke Walton, Ronny Turiaf, Sasha Vujacic and Jordan Farmar give them tremendous energy and they all know and play their roles. As good as they are right now, they're only going to get that much better when they get Andrew Bynum, Chris Mihm and Trevor Ariza back. They've got a veteran at the Point, Bryant who will not let them lose, a couple of 7 footers, athleticism on the wings, a killer bench and a Hall of Fame coach with 9 rings. I'm not saying you skip the playoffs and give the Lakers the title, but clearly, they are the team to beat."

I love how you diss people that make excuses about wins and losses and then you say this.

BTW, their loss had to do with defense last year. San Antonio's defense.

Make all the excuses you want. You all made your own bed.

I'm a HUGE Big Shot fan, but what he did had more of an impact on the series than anything. That totally turned the momentum and the series. Period.

Dear Dave Wadding and any other Phoenix Suns fan,

We the Detroit Pistons would like to say thank you for coming to the game tonight. Should we meet in the NBA finals, we will gladly let you win 1 game so you can keep your pride. However, if you play like this in the playoffs against any other team, you will not make it to the finals.

Sincerely,

Splaya

Almost clever. Props.

No. Nash oversold it.

Noone told Amare and Diaw to try and start shit either.

Even after they came back too... they couldnt do anything. Even when Horry was still suspended.

No. Nash oversold it.

Noone told Amare and Diaw to try and start shit either.

You mean kinda like how when anyone touches Manu Jewnobili and he goes flying like you just shot him point blank with a rocket launcher?

And nobody told Horry to fucking hipcheck Nash into the scorer's table like he was playing hockey either...nah, scratch that, Pops prolly did.

I dont think Boston can stop SA with a healthy Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan in a 7 game series.

you might be right, I just don't see the Celtics having a huge issue going against those 3, with everyone healthy on the Boston Side.

They beat them, the Spurs didn't have Parker and the Celtics didn't have Garnett or Perkins and while no one would confuse Perkins w/ any top player in the league he's a good defender and left Glenn Davis on Duncan who did an amazing job and played over his head that game.

The concern for me is the Celtics getting a backup point gaurd. If they don't I'm not overly worried because Pierce has been playing a lot with the 2nd team and can play point forward if needed.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
02-26-2008, 10:10 AM

Yeah and they ended up winning too lol

Ninti the Mad
02-26-2008, 10:49 AM
Thats why SA has good D.

Sometimes they have shooting troubles so it helps keep the game close until they warm up.

They always pick up the intensity the second half of games. Even more in the playoffs.

SA is being discarded to the side right now but that is every year, especially last year, and look what happened.

But another team that is quietly building up momentum is Houston. 12W in a row FROM HOUSTON? Gonna be a sick playoffs this year.

I can. I'm not that torn about that loss, we haven't won there in the last 6 meetings. Blazers play very well at home, definite home court advantage with that crowd there. We always struggle in the Rose Garden, It's all good, so what, you can't win em all. 41-18 is a ok.

DaveWadding
03-02-2008, 02:14 PM
The Suns just need to stop coasting during stretches...I cvan think of at least 3/4 times where they would get down by 10 and then be tied again in about a minute and a half...then they would get down again. Then, they finally came to play during the last half of the 4th and they couldnt make it happen.

I don't sit here and make excuses for them like SamuelG does (The Blazers just always beat us and Im trying to mask that I've been bawling my eyes out while making this post :'()

They played like they didnt give a shit until the end of the game and they lost. Period.

Kobe vs Lebron is almost impossible. Lebrons stats are incredible. 30 points 8 boards 7 assists 2 steals 1 block. Lebron dont have a Pal Gasol or even a Lamar Odom. I'd even argue that theres not a another player on the Cavs that is better then Luke Walton imo. But Kobe is such an assassin. Kobe probably should get MVP because he's deserved it for a while.

Testicle

Exactly, Kobe will be winning it for past achivements because he has not yet won one. Lebron is without a doubt having the best season, but he has his whole career ahead of him to win plenty.

That has been their biggest problem for the past three years. With Flip Saunders as their head coach they are not as focused as they should be. Plus they think they can turn their game on and off, which isn't the case. Then Lebron drops 56 on you. :(

This is why they need to change the NBA playoff system. The balance between the east and the west is offset. So instead of having the top eight teams in each confrence making it to the playoffs. We should just have the top 16 teams in the leauge face off.

If this were actually to take place and if the playoffs were to start today, only 4 teams from the east would make it, compared to 12 from the west.

Good news though is that the Pacers are making a furious run for a top 3 pick. Lost 3 straight. Only have 24 wins right now. I think the magic number for a top 3 pick is like 28 or 29 wins. So theres a chance. If we stick to the formula ( by formula i mean losing to Seattle when we should obviously win ) then we'll have Orlando and Dallas. Thats 5 straight losses. I think if we can get the #2 pick we will get Derrick Rose and thats who we need. Rose is gunna be the best player in the draft. Bynum's return to Lakers may be month away-
Lakers coach Jackson says Bynum might not return until near the end of the regular season and that he will be blended in carefully.

By Mike Bresnahan, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
March 8, 2008

Andrew Bynum's return from a knee injury might not be until close to the end of the regular season, Coach Phil Jackson suggested Friday.

"That's still perhaps a month away, maybe, whatever," he said when asked about the team adapting to Bynum's return. "I can't even put a date on it. It's just too early to think of it like that."

The Lakers' last regular-season game is April 15 against Sacramento. Their first playoff game will be either April 19 or 20.

Bynum could begin jogging on a treadmill next week, but Jackson already sensed a challenging adjustment period when the 20-year-old returned to the court, particularly with Pau Gasol now in the mix.

"Very difficult, especially when [Bynum] has never played with a player like that," Jackson said. "Regardless of how Andrew comes back, he's not going to start at 100%. He's going to start somewhere where it's going to be, 'Is he in basketball condition now to play eight, 10 minutes, six minutes,' whatever it is.

"When we put him on the court, it's going to be in relief to start with. He's going to come off the bench and play a secondary role, probably, to start with. And then as he gets a couple games where it looks like he can sustain the effort and his conditioning improves, then we'll work on how it fits together.

"Now, if this is in the playoffs, it's almost impossible to do that because you don't want to break up the chemistry. It's going to be handled just the right way."

Bynum has been out since sustaining a bone bruise on his left knee and a brief dislocation of the kneecap in a Jan. 13 game against Memphis.

There's a decent fight for the seventh and eighth spots in the Western Conference, although the Lakers are reluctant to acknowledge it while battling San Antonio for the conference's top spot.

"I'm not really watching that," Jackson said. "We're still 15 games away from that. The last eight, 10 games, you start watching everything that everybody does."

Dallas (39-23) is currently seventh and Golden State (38-23) is eighth, but Denver (37-24) is within striking distance.

The players admit to some scoreboard watching but also refuse to look too far into the future.

"After the game, I like to see the scoreboard just to see how other teams have played, so I have an idea a little bit," Sasha Vujacic said. "But for our opponent for the playoffs, I'm not even thinking about it."

How come?

"What happened last year to Dallas, it was a good experience for everybody -- you should never predict," Vujacic said. "When you're doing that, you're going to get stabbed in the back."

Dallas, the top-seeded team in the West last season, lost to eighth-seeded Golden State in the first round.

Sacramento Bee (http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/773098.html): And after Beno Udrih's free throws with 4.6 seconds left recaptured a lead the Kings had held for most of the night and the buzzer sounded to send Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof into hysterics, Artest ran the length of the celebrity-filled floor and did what the kids call "popping the collar." He tugged his Kings jersey out for all to see, just as Kobe Bryant had done so flamboyantly when the Lakers won at Arco Arena on Tuesday.

"Kobe popped his collar in Sacramento, and the Kings' fans weren't too happy, so the best thing was to have a chance to pop it back," said Artest, who didn't play the last 16:30 of the game. "That's all I wanted to do. I didn't care if I didn't score a point.

"I wanted one game, to run across the L.A. court and show everybody. (The jersey) says 'Kings.' I wish it said Sacramento."

Bryant – whose 19-foot, game-winning attempt came up short with Mikki Moore contesting the shot – wished Artest would have come up with his own celebration.

"He's got to get his own material," Bryant said. "Don't be (rapper) Puff Daddy and sample every song. You've got to create your own music sometimes."

lol

I love Artest. I miss him. Not many guys have the balls to go into the stands and kick the shit out of a fan. Gotta respect that.

It's pretty cool in Philadelphia since everyone is talking about the Sixers/Celtics tonight.

I might have to pull a Sammyg, and start spazzing.

They played a good half though.

Every time the Sixers had some momemtum the Celtics would hit a shot every time.

Ridiclious.

Since the Pacers made the NBA Finals like in 2000 i think, they've had the lowest attendance in the league since then. Thats just crazy to me. This is basketball country in Indiana. We need Derrick Rose so badly. We need him like the Knicks needed Ewing in 85 ( or whatever year ). We need the draft fixed ( or we just need to execute our lose every game plan ). Whatever it takes. Thats what they need to do with the billboards in Indiana. You know how you roll past a billboard that has your favorite team advertising tickets and every year theres a catchy slogan. Well Indiana needs to have a huge picture of Derrick Rose, with pics in the backround of O'Neil and Tinsley x'd out and the slogan should say " Whatever it takes ".

Dunno mane. Not feeling too hot about this game tonight. We need a win though, after that heartbreaker against Sacramento. Hopefully we play some D tonight. Kobe said he is gonna be way more aggressive, so we'll see what happens.
