I think it's pretty obvious that Utah cannot stop Lamar Odom.

Man, I would be lying if I said I wasnt nervous for game 7.
I am hoping the Hornets inexperience crushes them in game 7 in a win or go home situation.
Much respect to the Hornets although ROFL @ West for just being a douche.
The Spurs are the grestest front running team like ever.
Have you noticed that the Celtics cant win close games nor can they win on the road, but if they're at home and they have a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter, its over. * cough * speaking of front runners.

Hornets/Spurs Game 7 is a very interesting one that can go either way.
Hornets advantages are:
Homecourt (havent lost at home yet in playoffs)
History (Spurs havent made it passed the 2nd rd coming off a title yr)
Chris Paul (arugably the best player in the NBA right now)
3rd Quarter adv (In the 3 home games in the 3rd quarter the Hornets have massacred the Spurs)
Spurs advantages are:
Expirence (They have won multiple championships)
Coaching (Many now consider Pop one of the best coaches of the NBA all-time)
Momentum (Game 6 def rattled the Hornets)
1st Half adv (Spurs have outplayed the Hornets in NO in all 3 1st half games)
Big Shot Bob (This man has made many shots in playoff history that won or saved series, he could do it again Mon Night)

Doris Burke is out of her fucking mind.
When Ray Allen drove to the basket and Delonte West blocked the shot, she said the shot should have counted.
When they showed the replay, the shot clearly hit the side of the backboard, thus it would have never have had a chance of going in. Ray Allen is shooting his free throws, and she says "That shot still should have counted"
McLegend
05-16-2008, 10:49 PM
Nah she is right. If the ball is blocked after it hits the backboard it's goaltending.
No matter what part of the backboard the ball hits.

05-16-2008, 11:37 PM
The Lakers beating the Jazz comes down to 3 things: bench, Kobe making plays, and Lamar continuing to attack (nobody on the Jazz can stop him). So far, everythings going swell!
IC Champion
05-16-2008, 11:41 PM
Well they can't stop Kobe, and anytime they turn the ball over it kills them.

Ariza is returning next series, he is lockdown on D. We can stick him on CP3, and hope for the best. Hope West is still ailing. We have the coaching edge over the Hornets, as well. We split with them this year. How can you say we have no chance, you idiot. Laker Hater. We don't even have Bynum and we are rollin'.
Ninti the Mad

Have you noticed that the Celtics cant win close games nor can they win on the road, but if they're at home and they have a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter, its over. * cough * speaking of front runners.
They haven't had a problem with close games.
Winning on the road in the playoffs is a different story.
I'll say what I've said all season, this team wins games inspite of Doc Rivers not being a good coach.
WTF, jump shots all over, telling Rondo no to drive in when he's the only guy making a lay-up, leaving Ray Allen on the floor when he can't hit shit, leaving Perkins on the floor when he plays like he's 5ft 2. Taking 13 games to start using House, not using Davis over Perkins more...
I've been most impressed with Rondo in the playoffs
Least impressed with Allen and Cassell so happy he finally got a DNP!
They'll win game 7, but can't say I feel great about Detroit.
Home court will help, plus the fact that they're still playing good D, they're losing the games for 2 reasons.
1) Rebounds - They're not crashing the board and giving the Cavs too many 2nd chances.
2) Capitalizing on turnovers, I hate to see the numbers on how many times they get a turnover and turn it back w/o a score... probably like 2-100 on the series.
IF they win game 7, i think they'll get crushed by Detroit. Detroit has way more experience. They have so much more of a killer instinct and Detroit can win on the road. Boston cant and wont. But i think if you have Lebron or Kobe, you can win a game 7 on the road against anyone. I'm not sure who will win this game. I'm rooting for the Cavs.
Ray Allen is basically a spot up shooter now. I heard a great point and its exactly right. If you run people at Ray Allen and make him have to dribble, he aint scoring.
Doc Rivers is horrible. You win 60+ games in the regular season and then come playoff time he decides to change up and shorten the rotation. He basically said his team cant perform in the clutch after game 4. He's been out coached by Whoever Was Coaching The Hawks and Mike Brown. Severly out coached btw. How long will it take Doc to realize that putting his best scorer and probably his best player ( Pierce ) on Lebron defensivly is completely rendering Pierce ineffective in this series. Telling Rondo not to drive is rediculous. Even more rediculous when you here him in the huddle on ESPN preaching to get to the line and get in the bonus. I think i said in one of the first pages of this thread something along the lines of " You have a championship squad, unfortunatly you still have Doc Rivers as your coach ".
If Boston gets past the Cavs and Billups is healthy, Detroit wins that series in 6.
LOL @ Ray Allen. He's become John Starks.

Kobes crazy throwup shot with the AND 1 was a heck of a shot. I want a Lakers/Hornets series but the Lakers/Spurs have had a couple great series in the past too. I remember 03 that suprising Game 6 masscare that ended the Lakers dyntasy by the Spurs. I also remember that Game 5 with the series 2-2 where Duncan hit that shot with .4 left to go to put the Spurs up by 1 and then Fisher hitting that crazy clutch shot to win.

LOL @ Ray Allen. He's become John Starks.
This place just ain't no fun when you and me agree on shit.
I think they'll still give Detroit a run for their money, but Det in 6 wouldn't shock me at all.
I've been on Docs case all year also, and this "we won so many games and scored so many points" yeah, inspite of doc.
I forget who the player was on a Radio interview and they asked about Doc yelling a lot and the player said "yeah, after while we just tune him out and on occasions we've told him to shut-up" good to see he has his players respect.
If they keep playing good D and start hitting baskets they'll give Detroit a run, but you're right Detroit has more experience together and people are talking that's the Celtics problem, they have a good team but just haven't had experience enough together (you'd think the regular season got them experience together).
I think the "big 3" are tied up for another 3yrs, so if they make the Eastern Finals and go down I won't be too pissed... but would be nice to see them back in the finals, especially against LA.
mrslackalack
05-17-2008, 03:02 PM
If Doc loses this Game 7 does any1 think he could get fired?
depends on who they'd wanna hire. Honestly, Rick Carlisle would have been the perfect coach for Boston. His coaching style is exactly what Bostons playing style is and he'd make the Big 3 legendary with his coaching abilities. But he's gone now. I cant think of anyone out there really.

Unless the Hornets take the series the Spurs are still the defending champions.
OMG I love Varejo right now. When Perkins got that jump ball he got up acting hard and talking shit to lebron. So Mike Brown put Varejo in and when Perkins got the ball, Varejo fouled him and then got in his face and bumped him a few times after the whistle. It was awsome.

Would I be shocked to see Detroit win? No, but I'm going Boston in 7.
For the most part they have still played great D during the playoffs.
Have they won on the road? no.
round 1 Did Detroit win in Philly? sure, but they also lost at home to Philly.
and Detroit won 1 road game vs. Orlando and that was by 1 point.
So the whole "can't win on the road" so far doesn't worry me.
Perice seems to have woken up, and has to stay like that against Detroit.
Gonna be a great series.
I think the biggest advantage Detroit has is the extra rest and a younger team. Playing sun - tue - thur - sat, you're going to see these older legs on the Celtics get tired.
Keep playing the same D, Pierce keeps playing like he did today, keep House in there and not Cassell and wouldn't hurt for Ray Allen to remember how to shoot!

Reading some other message boards and people are trying to say its LeBron's "fault" lol give me a break, nobody else could do shit for the Cavs offensively. Delonte was the only one who really did anything at all and he missed some big shots himself. Really don't see how you can blame a guy who dropped 45 points on the road in Game 7 and consistently set up shots for his teammates, only to have them miss. Not to mention the Cavs where playing 4 on 5 the entire team on offense since Ben Wallace has no offensive game what-so-ever. Anyone see when he caught the ball in the post with his back to the basket and nobody behind him? He could have just turned around took one dribble and dunked it instead he passed it away in like .02 seconds lol
As for the Pistons destorying the Celtics because the Celtics struggled with a one man team, pretty sure the Pistons lost to the "one man team" last year so I dunno. Plus the Sixers went into Detriot and won a game, so we'll see what happens here. Everyone thinks they are Miss Cleo or something

I'm worried, but they still have a good chance against Detroit, it will go 6 or 7.
What I find funny isn't that you were wrong (which you usually are, you actually are starting to make RP look good on predictions) it's how arrogent about it you were and ended up wrong.
You can call the bums or whatever else you want but the fact remains they were the best team in the league during the regular season and their one of the best 2 eastern teams in the playoffs.
So, keep knocking them, your jealousy is understood.
by the way, what team do you root for?
Philly was one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs though, Stimes.
Wait.... I thought "The playoffs are different then the regular season" wasn't that your cry? but now "Philly was hot going into the playoffs"... which is it? Does the regular season matter or not?
Also, as it's been pointed out, Detroit lost to the "1 man team" last year and they did lose at home to Philly, so Boston hasn't won on the road, but they haven't lost at home either.

LOL, I was wrong about a prediction. I also predicted Lakers would take it in 6.
You're talking about last year with Detriot when you're team only compiled 24 wins and missed the play-offs. That was a year ago, I know that's my point. And you're team came rather close to going down to LeBron this year.
Call me arrogant all you like, I'm just stating facts. I would expect the best team in the league to easily defeat a team that wasn't even .500. and than in the next round have the series go 7 games and come down to the final minute. No 1 seed that had to go 7 to win in the first round has ever gone on to win the championship.
Come on, you really think Boston can beat whoever comes out west be it Lakers, Spurs, or Hornets? You really think so?

One of the key factors is the big 3 at each only have 1 Conf Title game appearence.(Pierce with the Celtics in 02, Allen with the Bucks in 01, KG with the T-Wolves in 04) The current Pistons nucleus has been to 5 straight Conf Title Games. (6 current streak but the star players arrived or gotten good like Prince in 04) Including going on to winning a title and losing another in a Game 7.

for whatever reason you don't like the Celtics (which is fine) but you keep trying to change your argument "the regular season doesn't matter" and then "Philly was hot at the end of the regular season".
What it comes down to is they beat Atlanta and they beat Clevland and they have a chance to beat anyone, any team does.
Detroit will go 6 or 7, if it's 6 detroit wins if it's 7 the Celtics win.
I don't have the confidence against Detroit that I did against Clevland.
but whatever, can't wait till tuesday night and to get this started!

YES. I think they were in the triangle or something and when the ball went down to Wallace he immidiatley threw it to Lebron. I think he had Posey gaurding him like 4 feet away.
But what did you expect? Everyone knows Ben has no offensive game. Even he knows it which is why he looked to pass first. All it took was an aggresive move to the basket to draw at least a foul. But when he kicked it out and Lebron missed the shot I figured "meh, they got what they payed for.One defensive minded player to help them get to the finals. Glad it worked out for them"

and the Celtics can play defense and score also. Detroit really is a better matchup for boston the Clevland was. Detroit really lacks that guy that will put up 30-40 points, which means Pierce wont exaust himself on defense, don't get me wrong they have good players that can score, but the thing that make lebron so tiring is his size, the guys bigger the most NFL TE's.
Dunno, the Pistons still worry me but the more I look at it i'm less worried that I originally thought.
And Detroit takes pride on their ability to perform on the road.
I would think all teams take pride in ability to preform on the road....
That being said, Detroit won 1 game on the road, and they also lost one at home, boston hasn't lost at home so you could say Boston takes more price in their ability to preform at home then Detroit does at home?
Gonna be a great series, Boston in 7, but Detroit in 6 wouldn't completely shock me.

Detriot is a better team than Cleveland, sure they don't have a LeBron James, but they have Billups, Wallace ,Prince, and Hamilton. They have good team chemistry and the benefit is they don't rely on any one guy to win. I think that's more of an advantage than anything. And they pretty much had their way with Orlando who is a pretty good team.
Wallace should give Garnert alot more trouble than the Cav's bigs did on both end of the floor. Wallace is one of the better big man in the league, and is a really good defender.
Let's not forget their bench which I would say is better than Boston's is and I think things are looking good for Detriot. Sure Pierce had a good game, but he also had a couple bad ones, and Allen who is supposed to be one of the leagues premier shooters is shooting around 37% from the floor and averaging 12 ppg.
Which is why I say Pistons in 6.

Point is. Basketball is a physical sport and sometimes shit happens.
Yeah but it shouldnt happen on EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PLAY. Sorry dude, I WATCH the Spurs and guess what? every time on defense they do at least one thing that is inexcusably fucking cheap that doesnt get called. EVERY SINGLE PLAY. No exaggeration whatsoever.

I'm with Wadding here, I HATE BRUCE BOWEN. Biggest piece of shit ever. I will go insane if he tries to injure Kobe. Sticking his leg out when ppl taking jumpshots, trying to get them to sprain their ankle, kicking them, hitting them in the nuts, he is fucking terrible.
Wadding , you on my side this series?
DaveWadding

No. I hate the Lakers and I hate the Spurs...after the lottery tomorrow it's all baseball and prospect scouting until the draft. I'm done with the NBA for this season.

Its Nash's fault for getting right into him when he was trying to make a move.
Dont blame Bowen for that shit.
Ninti the Mad
05-20-2008, 01:14 AM
WTF
The ratio to when Bowen actually does something like that be it intentional or not is LOW.
You only see the bad shit because you see the highlights when something happens yet never see the games when he doesnt do anything.
Stop being ignorant. Sure, he made some mistakes but it doesnt make him dirty.
DaveWadding

You [...]never see the games when he doesnt do anything.
Because there's no such thing as a game when Bowen isnt a fucking dirty piece of shit.

Night on the tarmac

When the San Antonio Spurs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/sas/;_ylt=Ap9nZ4rRKRRffRa3rRkTIhCeH8QF) eliminated the New Orleans Hornets (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/nor/;_ylt=Aq4jB8gCpv_c5h0JjD4Th.ieH8QF) from the playoffs Monday night, they figured the hard part of their journey to the Western Conference finals was over.
Turns out it was only beginning.
In one of the more bizarre travel stories, the Spurs ended up spending the night on the tarmac at New Orleans airport.
The team had planned to fly to Los Angeles after the game, but arrived at the airport to find their flight had mechanical problems. With a cable convention crowding the city’s hotel rooms, the team couldn’t find any place to spend the night.
Some of the players slept on the plane while others moved to buses on the tarmac.
The team left New Orleans around 6:30 a.m. And arrived in Los Angeles a few hours later. The Spurs will have only a brief shootaround on Wednesday morning before opening the conference finals against the Los Angeles Lakers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/lal/;_ylt=At0spxn_B9UAHooLlSyAs96eH8QF) that night.
Sammy, where were you last night hmm?
