Something fun in a freeroam where everyone has very little to no money and can die as many times as they want:

Put a bounty on two dudes. Those dudes hijack and stay on the train. The rest of the lobby hunts them down.

I did this with ECG the other day and it was fun. It was also fun to be the one on the train with the bounty.

I wish we could edit our own missions and set our own parameters. Could have people start on motorcycles, some start on helicopters, some HAVE to attempt to parachute onto train, one flies a cargo plane kamikaze style into train.

While I've mentioned it, that is my favorite thing to do online in random lobbies is to scare people with that cargo plane. I dunno if scare is the right word but I definitely like to fly as close as I can to them and hopefully startle them. A cargo plane has to be the last thing you're expecting if you're somewhere downtown. I've landed it on the freeway once and someone drove up on it, got out, and was upset the back didn't open to store his car (I'm kind of annoyed by that too) and started kicking the back. I joined him. Then we flew off together and were best GTA buddies for at least 40 mins.

And while I'm on that: Why doesn't the back open on the cargo plane? Why doesn't the hook lock on to/pick up anything in the cargo helicopter? Why can't co-pilots have bigger role i.e. aim the guns or make that tracking camera useful? Why isn't there a stun gun/put someone in the trunk option? Why isn't there an "escape from trunk" mini game? Or maybe call someone (a crew member) to tell them you're stuck in the trunk?

It's impressive but it's starting to get boring and I kept out of previews so I didn't really have any expectations. I definitely thought there would be some kind of mission editor though.

We DEF have to start highjacking more firetrucks and become firemen.

Everyone goes passive first and then call a firetruck. You can still get shot/killed if you're in a vehicle so be aware of that.

And then go around firehosing everyone. If a fire breaks, the fire becomes the priority first.

You can pick up cars with the cargo copter, but its really finicky. You have to hook it just right.

Yeah. I think you should spawn further away if the same guy kills you maybe 3 times in under a minute. The fact you get killed in 2 or 3 shots really doesn't help. Even the sucky pistol kills pretty easily.

The Titan mission is a pain, solo. I wipe out the guards and more magically spawn. Not in the distance to give the illusion that re-enforcements are arriving but right beside you because the game really doesn't want you to win.

Someone was robbing a store and I went to run in and shoot him but forgot that you put your gun away as you as you run in and only punched him. Freaked out and ran with him shooting me in the back.

I stood outside while someone robbed a shop. The guy ran out through the doors and got my shotgun unloaded into his face. I picked up the cash $1000+ and ran for it.

I'm looking forward to bank robberies being added and having our crew wait for another crew to rob the bank, we gun them down and run off with the cash.

Actually, I really really hope bank robberies are in freeroam and not labeled as "missions" so outsiders can't interfere.

I was just playing online and getting a ton of hassle from these two guys at the airstrip, out in the desert. Two against one. I did manage to take them both out one after the other once but, on the whole, they were bothering me.

That's when I saw Kalyx parachuting in. "Yeah, re-enforcements!" I thought. Kalyx then proceeded to shoot me...a lot.

Some prick tried to kill me when i was putting in a car for Simeon. I got the car in and then he killed me after I got the car in the garage. Only netted like 5k.

He then invited me to Survival so I put a bounty on his ass. He died and learned a valuable lesson not to lurk near Simeon's garage.

A text would have sufficed. I thought that might have been why you shot me in the helicopter but, after that, I'm not sure.
You had a blue ring around you because you were in your other crew. I'd have thought if you had a ring around you, maybe your other guys would. Actually, maybe they should add that. That way, you know who is in what crew at a single glance of the map.

When I look at the list of people in the room, all I see is a white rectangle next to the name. Still not got an HDTV and it's another disadvantage to playing this game in SD. You'd think they'd have thought of that when they were spending $170 million on their big all-inclusive game for a generation of consoles with HD and SD settings.

Nobody yell at me to get an HD TV because it's 2013 etc etc. I have more important things to do with my money.

And yeah, you do need an HDTV but if you have more important things to do, you simply have to expect misunderstandings like tonight.

I still don't get why so many developers overlook SD now. I know it's 2013 but the PS3 and 360 were designed to be played on both types of tv. Xbox One and PS4, fine, I totally understand them being HD only.
It's not like it'll take anything away from the game or be mind blowingly difficult for them to add a "text size" option to the menu. The mission objective text is perfect (Get to the airport) etc. Something that size or maybe a tiny bit smaller would be perfect.
Rare patched Nuts & Bolts to fix the text issue in that game so I'm sure R* could.

I still can't see crew emblems anywhere. I can't see them on myself or my car and the closest I get is a sort of orangy mesh square where other peoples crew logo should be. Like in the Down the Drain race yesterday. All I saw on your back was that mesh thing.

Because SD no longer 'now'. More than likely the number of players using SD is an acceptable loss for them, something they may not care to spend resources on. And making text larger is more complicated than you think, as it alters the entire UI to do so.

Hope you get a break soon because I'd be surprised if anything readable in SD next gen.

If that's the case, an "HD Required" symbol on the back of the box would be helpful. I got a full refund for Skyrim because it required HD but never told me that on the box. If we have to warn that you require a hard drive, why not tell us we require a certain type of tv?

I'm happy with my Wii U for future gaming. Nothing is really enticing me to go with the next Xbox or whatever. If and when that happens, I should have HD.

A few times I sarted online and my character was in the car driving....often veering directly into a guardrail when I start. I wouldn't be surprised to start once with my car beaten up because my character can't drive for shit on his own.

Fuck this. I'm having shit problems: I tried the fake live options to this game it just stops at splash screen. I ALREADY had the disc 1 in the drive too. And, I tried disabling fake live option in Dash Launch and it asks for an online profile. Rockstar trolling... Fuuuck.

Incase anyone is wondering about those numbers I posted earlier, I found one of them on a billboard by the strip club. You can call all the numbers you see and they do something. A lot are either someone picking up and hanging up right away but others do things. THose are two I thought were worth mentioning so far.

Quick question about Top Fun/Top Fun II. When I'm the hunter, my missles always blow just short of the target, even if it's locked on and regardless of how close or far I am. When I'm the runner, they hit me pretty easily. Am I doing something wrong as the hunter?

I've had several people killed simply by calling the cops or putting mercenaries on them. Chopper support is also very good. I wish Lester's radar trick lasted longer than a minute, though. When more of my Crew gets this special moves we can coordinate some dirty tricks in Free Roam.

This means our $500,000 could happen any day, now.

I guess the 50% gives more weight to having $500,000.

I'm not a fan. Some of the missions I'm getting in to now are a bit tedious. On Level 26. The Death From Above mission is a joke. It hints to use a helicopter but it's literally no help whatsoever when you eventually do find one, trying to parachute on to the roof is just a quick way to get shot. When me and a couple of crew members finished it, it was more luck than anything else, I died at the right time and lost a wanted level so I could run in, only have a couple of guards to kill and get a picture of the corpse.


We only got a measly $5000 for it, which I'd already spent anyway hiring a chopper in a previous attempt from Merryweather that was no help at all. I'd rather they upped the pay-outs and not bother with with the stimulus package, make it more worthwhile to do missions and make people more likely to accept invites when you're short of chums online.

The missions where you have to capture moving vehicles are woeful. They take so long to do, just so boring.

- It seems 5-7k will be the new 'jackpot' payouts. We've been spoiled, we've replayed, we've grinded. Gravy train is over. I'm certain R* seen something in official player data they didn't like about the economy and made a call. I THINK I know why. There already millionaires out there. And also dudes leveled in the 100s. While RP is something they can't really control barring some reset they're certainly not going to do after a sketchy launch - money is fully in their control.

- Money is perishable. You don't have it forever. You pay medical fees, you call in special moves from characters, and you need ammo. This is GTA's 'death and taxes'. The massive payouts were disproportionate with the level gain, particularly with boosters running around. R* had to make a call on something they could control - the money. Payouts will be smaller, and I wouldn't be surprised if certain got a price hike. Hell, they'd probably add a tithing protocol for the Top 1% players and have their medical bills take larger cuts based on their bank account (a topical and ironic enough move that makes it so R*).

- This is also a game where they can add new missions anytime they wish using in-game assets. I'm certain there will be occasional massive payout jobs/missions as well as the coming heists (which were originally going to be the crazy payout jobs). A lot of the old big payouts, let's be real here, weren't even that hard. Some of the hardest missions don't pay you shit. I'm sure this also influenced their decision - seeing players steamroll jobs for easy money.

- Things like robbing stores and poaching bank trucks are validated again. How many of you stopped that because it was 'beneath you'? And alternate income like betting on races becomes attractive.

- And let's be real here, they have Cash Packs to sell eventually, and making the grind harder will get people to drop dough.

So I'm trying to unlock the color Hot Pink online. And on my the way to the race I try to pick up a prostitute but I don't have enough money. I keep honking and some NPC dude, presumably her pimp, walks up throws me out of the car and I knock him out. The ambulance comes to try and revive him (btw, paramedics haven't revived an NPC once in this game for me. I remember in other games they would do it more often than not. Melee deaths would be revived, gunshot wounds rarely.) but I guess another NPC honked at them because the ambulance was in the way. They take offense, grab him on the car and start beating on him. ANOTHER ambulance comes but they don't revive, they join in on brawl.

There's a god damned melee in the streets of this 12 person lobby and they're all NPCs. It was pretty funny.

They should do something very specific to deal with major grinders and people taking the piss. The majority don't have the time to do it, so there has to be a balance between slowing down those with the time and inclination to break a game's system (they'll keep trying too every time something is changed) and making it a non-worthwhile venture for people who play more casually. I personally have a lot of time to play currently so the painful pay-outs for big missions is ok for now, especially with the good times playing with mates online, but it was already getting annoying playing for 2-3 hours and basically seeing my balance either go down a little or improve by a couple of thousand quid because of the expenses vs. mission income just by playing in a normal way. Some of the missions already feel like a chore, so it's annoying to level up and see stuff unlocked but have no money to actually pay for it. If you want to fuck around in Free Mode, stealing jets and stuff like that, going after bounties, there's little chance of making any real money playing on a casual basis.

A good and obvious way to stop people replaying missions and races to easily gain money and XP is to have the money and XP gained from it reduce with each replay. $1000 for the first playthrough, $900 on the replay, $500 on the 2nd replay, $200 on the 3rd replay and then $1 there after. XP should react similarly.

This is for back to back replaying. If you do a mission, then a different one or free roam before going back to the first mission, it resets back to the full payout.

- It seems 5-7k will be the new 'jackpot' payouts. We've been spoiled, we've replayed, we've grinded. Gravy train is over. I'm certain R* seen something in official player data they didn't like about the economy and made a call. I THINK I know why. There already millionaires out there. And also dudes leveled in the 100s. While RP is something they can't really control barring some reset they're certainly not going to do after a sketchy launch - money is fully in their control.

- Money is perishable. You don't have it forever. You pay medical fees, you call in special moves from characters, and you need ammo. This is GTA's 'death and taxes'. The massive payouts were disproportionate with the level gain, particularly with boosters running around. R* had to make a call on something they could control - the money. Payouts will be smaller, and I wouldn't be surprised if certain got a price hike. I don't even play online, and I STILL believe convenience store and armored truck robberies, although they obviously don't pay out the most in SP, to be a very easy way to make a decent amount of cash in a relatively short amount of time. And people who attempt those and can't escape from a *-*** Wanted lvl. have no business playing the game, on or offline.

Yeah. I think after a certain level they 'unlock' as blips on your radar. At least, I saw my first radar blip yesterday. Dunno if you open them the same though. I sticky bombed the back, and I think I was too close to another car and the whole truck blew up. Haven't seen another one to try yet. I got 200 RP for blowing it up though.

Horse Racing would be dumb. Poker and Blackjack, though I don't play, should return from RDR with the ability to bet on them. You should be able to bet on anything competitive really.

And yeah betting on races should require you to be in the race. No point taking up a slot in a game when somebody could be actually playing.

Betting on races needs fixed. It only ever gives you the pay-out from the odds at the start of the race instead of the odds when you place the bet. I stuck $500 on myself to win a motorbike race at 7/1 one time, won it, but only got a pay-out of $300 because my odds had come in to 3/5 with all the money placed by the time the race started. I put my money on at 7/1 so that's my bet. Weird. It always happens too, I've lost out on a few big bet wins in races because of this stupid system.

The house next door has a widescreen TV by a pool. It's lit up but you can't turn it on. Might be a "thing" for when you buy that specific house, if it ever is buyable. TV outside.

When I was investigating the TV, I got stuck in the scenery and couldn't get out. I could move the camera and I got to see the inside of my character model and I can reveal that female player models have blue nipples, similar to the blue ball from this scene in The Simpsons.

I was hiding in that garage when the cops were looking for me. A cop car stopped across the street and the cop got out and ran across the street, only for another cop car to plow through him out of nowhere.
In a matter of seconds there must have been 6 or 7 cops swarming the scene. They looked everywhere and couldn't find me. Then one went into the garage and stopped right by me but I was in his blind spot. He was just turning around and would have seen me but the wanted level stopped at the last possible second. YEAH I've done that one 3 times now and helicopters are NO WHERE on the map.

First time was with Drakul and we climbed all the way up on a nearby crane but got gunned down. One time I did it with strangers and went to the airport and some NPC flew off with a helicopter. Tried shooting it but it got away.

Next time I'm going to call a chopper to pick me up, shoot the pilot, and go in my self.

What does High-Priority Case entail? I've done a Titan of a Job twice without finding a helicopter, but you don't really need one. I'm guessing this is similar but it hasn't shown up for me.

You have to collect something from the top of a huge construction site. No way of actually doing it. It's like a kid created it and did try it out before adding it to the game. You need a helicopter but there isn't one, so you climb a huge crane for 5 minutes solid only to be gunned down by a dozen enemies out of nowhere that you don't really have a chance against.
If you managed to wipe them out, I've no idea how'd you pick up the item when you're stuck on a crane.

Just got done playing online solo. I took another shot at High Priority Case and I managed to beat it.

First attempt, I had to call in a helicopter from Merryweather, kill the pilot and fly it to the top of the Maze bank directly opposite the target. I land on the bank and snipe a few people and fly across.
I then realise that the brief case isn't on top of the building. So I go down a ramp that takes me to another few guys to shoot. Repeat this for 4 or 5 floors.
BTW, you NEED a helicopter to get there. There is no other way to do this mission.

When I finally get the brief case, an enemy helicopter shows up and opens fire. I've no time to get back to my copter so I jump and parachute down.
I need to escape but there are no cars in the street, at all. I call my mechanic and he can't deliver right now. I run and run and finally find a parked SUV. Of course, I have to do that "Smash the window, reach in, open the door, hotwire it" animation. I was killed during it.

I have to start at the very beginning of the mission rather than at a checkpoint, which would have helped. I repeat the whole copter/sniping thing but this time I run back up to my copter and fly it to the warehouse. Mission complete.

Want to know what the payout is? $20,000? No. $10,000? No. $5000? No. It's $3500. That's it. The mission has a 49% like rating. Less now that I gave it a thumbs down.

So, expenses. If you did it my way and didn't already own a sniper etc.
$1000 for copter
$340 for armour which absorbs one hit despite being "heavy"
$13000 approx if you don't already own a sniper rifle
$500 for sniper ammo
$500 for SMG/Assault Rifle/Pistol ammo
$400 approx for parachute

Total: $15740 approx for this mission. In no way, shape or form is the mission worth doing. Avoid it.

Your expenses aren't gospel, though. That assumes your way was the ultimate approach, which isn't the case. And you did it alone, which would alter your expenses. Even if you did it as efficiantly as you could, you need to call for the helicopter because there are none on the map and there isn't an alternate route to the briefcase. That's $1000. You'll be using ammo. That adds up to. No matter how flawlessly you do it, the pay off is either so small as to be worthless or it's non-exsistant.

I never really got the "more players = more money" mechanic. Yeah, it's to encourage people to play togethor but, the more people on a mission, the easier it tends to be. So, wouldn't it make sense if the solo player got more because they had a tougher job?

So $1000? You really need not pay for anything but copter maybe. Don't bother unless you have sniper.

Occasionally they show up when some guy lands one randomly, but you can be waiting a long time. I completed the mission once at a lower level when some other guy invited me, we'd all went to different parts of the map where helicopters normally are and waited for a while until one appeared but it took fucking ages. The mission is quite hard when you do get up there as well because it's almost impossible not to get shot when coming down the ramps to different floors due to the awful cover system. The point is that you need a helicopter to do the mission, it's set up so a helicopter is a basic requirement, so why no fucking helicopters around to hand every time? This mission appears at a level before helicopter pick-ups are available (I haven't unlocked them yet) too.

I ran into my first glitch last night. I was prepping the 3rd heist as trevor, trying to figure out where to place the get away car and my phone got stuck in my hand. No matter what I did, I couldn't put it up, change characters or anything. Dunno how much I lost turning the game off but hopefully it isn't too bad cause ive been pretty good about frequent saves

YEAH I've done that one 3 times now and helicopters are NO WHERE on the map.

First time was with Drakul and we climbed all the way up on a nearby crane but got gunned down. One time I did it with strangers and went to the airport and some NPC flew off with a helicopter. Tried shooting it but it got away.

Next time I'm going to call a chopper to pick me up, shoot the pilot, and go in my self.

I kinda wanna do that mission if anyone will be on in like am hour.

Every time I've tried to do that mission, there is always a helicopter near the marina. Sometime's it's not always there, but the second I start to drive away, a helicopter starts to land and the pilot gets out and walks away. Never had a problem getting one.

Got a bounty kill tonight with Roxer flying the chopper. Bounty was worth $9000, but I had to pay around $9900 for blowing up the prick's car. Why is blowing up cars such a big deal?

As far as I can tell, airstrips, much like everything else in this, aren't available yet. I think planes/helicopters will spawn to the usual airport/helipad spots and which plane or chopper is dependant on what level you are.

*Got into an off-road race, came in 6th out of 8.

*Met up with Razz randomly while he was involved in a gang war. Lended a hand, first gang war I've survived so far.

*Assisted with a Hold-Up, Razz pistol-whipped me on accident. lol

*We chased down a bounty, Well he did. I took a wrong turn and he got there first. Shared the loot though.

*We went after another but my car was almost undriveable, so I dropped out of the chase to get it fixed. That was a $7,000 bounty.

*Got into a race randomly that had 13 people in it, came in 4th. Biggest race I've ever been in and it was cool. Got put in a new session for the race, so lost Razz.

Almost have enough banked for an apartment now.

I didn't know that if you accidentally kill yourself while a bounty is on your head, you respawn with it still in effect. I was chasing down a bounty and he got himself killed, so I thought that was it. I then noticed that it was still on when he respawned...was alot of effort for just a $1,000.
