Ababa the road rage.
Sideswiped a car, and it starts chasing me. Decided to stop and fight the dude, but then the whole god damn neighborhood came after me. Musta been in the ballad hood or something.
despite all the things you can do, feel like the most gratifying thing so far is knocking some people the fuck out with one punch
also, anybody on PS3 not able to get the atomic blimp DLC to work, just go to the Sony (https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/cam/account/giftcard/redeem-gift-card-flow.action) website, sign in/sign up with your PSN account and redeem there. Then log into the PS Store and it'll be on yr download list

Launch day sales managed to generate around $800 million and ends up beating out last year's top game (Black Ops II) by around $300 million.
For comparisons, GTA IV's launch day did around $300 million in sales.
Rockstar's au revoir to the current generation is raking in huge amounts of revenue for parent Take-Two, which is relying on Grand Theft Auto V to make its current financial year a success. With $800 million in the bank already, the return to Los Santos is looking to break records.
In comparison, Call of Duty: Black Ops II previously held the record for day one sales with $500 million. That game reached the $1 billion mark after being on shelves for 15 days.
Grand Theft Auto IV earned $310 million on its first day in 2008, reaching the half-billion dollar mark in a week's time. Grand Theft Auto V launched worldwide yesterday, except in Japan and Brazil.

Finished it, last mission was a bit easy and there was only one new mission unlocked after finishing it which involves looking out for a van that's not marked on the radar. Hopefully there's a few more side missions after that.

Possible spoiler for anyone who doesn't want to know about the cool things that happen around the city and would rather find them out themselves.
Don't know if it is a bug or not but planes crash in the game.
I was riding a taxi over a bridge/freeway in La Puerta and noticed a Shamal private jet. I thought "Is that going to land? It's nose diving a little steep." Then it hit the ground and exploded. Hoping it happens again in a more populated area.

Had an interesting thing happen.
In a Trevor mission, I managed to land "perfectly," and was at a complete stop, when I heard a crunch and got a fission mailed screen because the plane was "too badly damaged."
Because I suck at flying, it took me like five tries to land it again. Maxed out Trevor's flight skill, at least.

According to Digital Foundry who did the earlier Xbox 360 tests and found out about the install problems, the digital version on the PS3 has the same issues and also varies depending on the HDD size.
So far it seems just the disc-based PS3 version doesn't have any big noticeable issues.

Anyone else disappointed with the sparseness of 'planning' missions? I expected the game to be built around them, not just have a few of them. So far I've only done like 3 or 4 that involved a degree of 'planning', and I'm roughly 50% complete according to my save.

There's an achievement for doing 70 gold missions/strangers, but that may only be a factor if you care about GS/trophies.
I've done a couple, but it's kind of soul-sucking. Especially the ones that come down to chance. One of the early ones requires you not harm any of the actors dressed as aliens, and I had one basically jump in front of me at the last second.
ON a related note, do you actually get money for replaying missions? I thought I saw a screen that said you did, but the last couple of times I thought to pay attention, it didn't look like it.

Just switched to Trevor and he's drunk.
I absolutely love the switching into random events bit.
I've had the following happen when switching to Trevor:
Switch to him and he's riding a zebra-stripe seated scooter down the freeway.
Have switched to him and he's been doing the same thing, only wearing just boots and tightey whiteys. I decided to just leave him like that and did the freaks and geeks mission with the old couple who follow celebrities. They saw me in my undies and thought I was a celebrity, which made it that much funnier. I also did one of the random events where I picked up a girl who was running out on a wedding. Instead of taking her where she needed to be, I took her to the cult. She kept talking about how I didn't seem that bad, when really I was in a dune buggy wearing only my underwear.
Have switched to him and he's been riding on his scooter next so someone else on a scooter, yelling things like "Hey, scooter buddy!" and random stuff. He fucking loves his scooter apparently.
One time, he was underneath the pier, had a guy tied to the structural beam and was talking shit. He also had a black van parked nearby. I left the guy tied up.

If you're far enough in, you buy properties at the marked locations on the map (house with dollar sign). Approach the sale sign at that location and it'll tell you to hit (D-Pad Right) to buy.
Some properties care only purchased by one character and they only ever seem to benefit one character. Just a heads up.

So I put ALL of my money from EVERY CHARACTER into that and was in the process of making a very big profit. The stock was starting to cool off but I figure to see what happens a little while longer. I finally decide it's been long enough and not risk it anymore so I go to sell and the Rockstar Social Club is down. I can't access my portfolio. It was down almost every time I checked.
It's finally stable but my return profit went from +25% to -7%.

If you're far enough in, you buy properties at the marked locations on the map (house with dollar sign). Approach the sale sign at that location and it'll tell you to hit (D-Pad Right) to buy.
Some properties care only purchased by one character and they only ever seem to benefit one character. Just a heads up.
Think he means real estate like homes. There are for sale signs ALL OVER Los Santos. The real estate website is down still, so I think that means once multiplayer is up, they're gonna do more with it.

1st Organized Heist mission done with good ppl counts for me. Did it a few days ago, but a guy @ work said that he did it with the low experienced driver and He wrecked and died, while my choice of driver with more cut performed to standard.
I like that "you get what you pay for" outcome of events.
Yeah but if you choose crappy players and they don't die they get boosts and the cut stays small.
I didn't really expect to have one heist to pay the house guy off. I thought it was going to be a big part of the game paying him off throughout.
I went with the shitty gun-man and he died but I didn't notice so his cut was lost.

Also love how Trevor's conversation mechanic can make people not only fight or flee, but also cause the cops to pursue if he mouths off to them or certain civilians. Ron's naïvete is also hilarious.

Probably would only be possible on the Xbox 360 version assuming Microsoft still has the patent or rights behind that idea for consoles. Not sure if the PC versions had custom stations although probably wouldn't be hard to do that as a mod or file edit.

I collapsed my first attempt too, literally like a foot from the finish line. Was feeling all smug and full of piss and vinegar because she was beating me 'til the last stretch then I started sprinting hardcore on the straightaway. My health was diminishing but I still had like 1/4 (maybe 1/8) of red health bar left so I thought I was golden then NOPE boom down. When I retried I just kind of "soft" sprinted (held down X) and occasionally tapped it a bit to gain some speed, idk kind of paced myself better and beat her pritty easily

The Flying Lotus radio station on GTA 5 is awesome
The FlyLo station might surprisingly be my favorite station. It seems like it isn't long enough though. The intros and breaks repeat themselves a lot more often than on other stations. I was listening to it for a long time and was prepared to complain that there was no Captain Murphy on it but it snuck on right before I started a mission one time. I'll have to look up a playlist and see what tracks are on the station. When he goes "It's Flying Lotus AKA _____ AKA ______ AKA _______" just remoinds me of Flaser. And the fact that he doesn't post enough.
The rap stations are really good. Still DRE is considered classic rap. We're getting old. I love the talk segments but it seems like there isn't enough. That JB Smoove bit is really good if you can get past the "OOOOOOMMMM" parts of the beginning. Smiling Faces a good choice. OOOH Child a good choice. I think the classic rock is a bit of a letdown and there's one station I haven't listened to at all for some reason.

GTA Online supposedly contains a microtransaction system.
It appears that Grand Theft Auto Online will allow users to purchase in-game cash using their own money, according to evidence unearthed by Reddit users.
According to Reddit user “1880,” when you open the store section in Grand Theft Auto V the console requests an XML file. The XML file includes the downloadable content from the game’s special editions, but there are also four “Cash Cards” ranging from $100,000 to $1,250,000. The cards have the following description:
“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting.”

Stealth is good at first, but I'm not even sure you can completely stealth it. If you drop the guards first, it makes it manageable, however.

Rockstar confirms GTA Online has a microtransaction system along with a few other details for the mode.
According to the post, Grand Theft Auto Online will support up to 16 players in a single game, and will allow players to customize their characters and cars. Reputation and cash flow will play a huge part in GTA Online as well. Reputation is gained by online activity, and will contribute to ranking up, opening up new features, weapons, and criminal contacts. Cash is obtained through various activities, ranging from heisting armored cars to winning street races. And if players want, they can purchase GTA$ with real-world money through an in-game story.
“The game and its economy have been designed and balanced for the vast majority of players who will not buy extra cash,” reads the post. “There is no in-game paywall and nothing that should disrupt the balance of the game. You don’t have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker. The economy is balanced differently from the single player economy, and cash earned in one cannot be taken over to the other. Most players will earn cash much faster Online than in Story Mode.”
Rockstar also highlighted four multiplayer modes/activities they’re working on for the first few weeks of GTA Online. The Content Creator allows users to create their own Deathmatches and races, while the Beach Bum pack will introduce “new amazing beach fun vehicles” and over 300 pieces of leisure wear and two “new but not remotely relaxing weapons.” Additional modes being worked on include Capture the Flag and full-on cooperative heists.

There is some in game chat in there but not sure if it's based on proximity or just being able to hear all the other people in the game, I would imagine there are numerous settings you can tweak to set to friends only or nothing at all but it isn't something we tried.

I guess that's why they ran so far away.

This was news to me. Also, fucking cool.

The soundtrack feels smaller than IV, though I don't think it actually is. It also seems like the same songs are always playing when I get into a car. There's one track for the pop station, one track for West Coast Classics, and one for the alternative that seem to come up like 99% of the time.
Then again, I find it far more listenable than the last sandbox I played regularly, Saints Row The Third. The only plus-side there was that they allowed a custom mix, so you could pick the tracks you liked out of the radio stations. If only GTA V had that. Or better, custom soundtrack.

Yeah but cleaning the loose ends on people who aren't really expecting you should be easy. They all thought Franklin would do A or B. Hope that C was enough to get me from not being "evil" in the stats. Probably not.

Yeah, you could loop NWA's discography for the duration of the game and hear it less, though.

I switched to him at one point last night and he was eating out of a trashcan. He had $160, 000 in his account, and he couldn't buy a damn cheeseburger?!?
That was probably the first time I switched to him and he had clothes on tho.

Random Trevor moment.
Switched to Trevor a little while ago, and he wakes up drunk and wearing nothing but his underwear. On a beach. On a little island off the main game world. Trevor then says "Wow, what a party." He then proceeds to pull out a Meth pipe and smoke him some, at which point the camera pans and I notice that there are a bunch of people passed out around a camp fire right behind me. So then Trevor gets up, and I walk the 3 steps to the nearest person and realize that they aren't sleeping, Trevor has just murdered all these people. Oh well, convenient jet ski parked right next to me. Holla.

I got 100% in GTA IV . The weird thing, though, is that it happened right after I set a new high score for the first time in "QUB³D", the Tetris-like arcade game found in the strip clubs.

The market's pretty random. Outside of certain missions impacting prices, the easiest way to make money is to blow up competitor's vehicles or blow up vehicles and invest when the stocks go down.
Just got eaten by a goddamn shark. God damnit it.
