Currently on "Disc 3" of FF9 HD, just got the boat. Forgot how short the discs are on this game, I'm only at 25ish hours and I've had the game idling for a few of those. Alexandria looked like shit at the beginning of the game, the pre-rendered backdrops looked incredibly poor quality compared to the upscaled character models. Since then it looks pretty good though, dunno if I just adjusted to it or they actually put some work in after the opening sequence. Still :love: this.

Anyway, just finished Night in The Woods. Shit game. The thing with these "interactive story" games is that if the story is the draw, it needs to be good. This is really poorly written, plot threads that don't go anywhere, no resolution, shithead protagonists. Really got no satisfaction from it other than the Demon Tower mini game.

I never had a problem with the emergence of the final boss or anything, still don't, but having gotten really into Persona lately I found it was really interesting that


thematically Necron has the same deal as the end bosses from both 5 and 3. That all life desires death and I guess at least 2/3 of the three are not really "evil" but they are an entity that exists only to end all life. FF9 coming in with the OG Persona twist.

I wouldn't say one is meh. It doesn't live up to the sequels for sure. But when it first came out it was THE graphical showcase for consoles and was a really good game. 2 just topped it by such a huge amount that it's hard to remember part 1 so fondly.

Almost done with Secret of Mana remake. Just need to level up my magics to the final level as well as my weapons and I am set to take on the final dungeon.

If anyone is wondering....it is the exact, and I mean EXACT, same game. Down to the easy leveling spot for magic in the wind palace still being intact (I'm actually there right now to level my magics from 7 to 8). I'm pretty sure all the "exploits" are still there. Just has a new coat of paint, remastered soundtrack and voice overs.

I've been playing a bit of Horizon Zero Dawn, maybe half way in I'm guessing. Hunting robot animals is pretty incredible, as expected.

On the flip, Ashly Burch is a really shitty VA. It's not a game changer but I really don't care about Aloy as much as I probably should.

Also found it weird how all the interesting Nora characters at the start got immediately red wedding'd. Rost had so much more to give.

Still enjoying it though.

I've had a couple of epic battles against herds of Tramplers and Shell Walkers. Got forced to fight the Stormbird at the end of my latest quest, with no healing items available. Killed me several times then I accidentally discovered a walkway under a bridge where I could snipe at him relatively safely. Took ages though and if he even got one shot on me I would have died. He kept going de-aggro so I had to occasionally pop up and get his attention, absolutely terrifying having him charge at me as I'm loosing my arrow and quickly jumping back into my hole.

Restarting FF15. Originally stopped at the "dreaded" chapter 13, back when the game came out. Been enough changes, and I've forgotten enough about it where I decided to start over. Getting to play some of the boss fights over again is a plus anyway.

Specifically the free ones they released via patch, there's a Gladio chapter that happens in chapter 13 that came out while I was still messing around in post game. They said there were more coming, didn't really keep up with it though.

I mean, like when you get to that part of the story where there's a gap, is the previously missing content filled in or does the main game just act as if it doesn't exist? I know it's probably just main menu access but it would be cool if they made the story "complete" eventually without dipping in and out.

I don't know why they put friendly fire for magic spells in FF15 when there is seemingly no way to use them without hitting your entire group as well. Even using Ignis' regroup skill doesnt work, as the monsters are right back on top of you by the time you can move freely again.

Just beat Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition on Xbox One. I really liked it a lot, beat the game pretty quick but I played long hours. It's A LOT like GTA V but, different in that it's more focused, the world is less open, and the combat is a lotbetter. I also personally like the driving a lot better as well, I'm a much better driver in Sleeping Dogs than GTA.
It's basically a Kung Fu GTA, and you're an undercover cop so you're not as compelled to be a rampaging psychopath. One funny moment though when I went to the hospital two doctors were overheard saying "Yeah I don't know what's been going on the last few days, it's like someone is actually looking for people to run over with their car!"...

Totally recommend it if you haven't played it. The martial arts combat is really fun and makes you feel like Bruce Lee defeating up to 20 enemies at the same time with only your hands, feet, and bad ass environmental moves.

Played some GTAO for a significant amount of time for the first time in a LONG time last night and it was quite productive. Me and literally one other guy who was only lv. 40+, neither of us with hardly any flying skill, somehow BS'd our way through the hospital setup in Act I of the Doomsday Heist. Right after, got through the government facility one where you have to hack 4 servers. Was sometime over the weekend when I did the taking Deluxos to hack armored cars/boats/a big ass jet and destroy all the vehicles so I was ready for the Heist Finale. Got through that to the tune of $260k with me @ 40% and the other 3 at 20%. Followed up Act I completion by doing all the painstaking preps for Act II set ups...curious to see what the cop vehicles' roles will ultimately be in Act II Finale.

Currently on Summer break in Persona 4 Golden, just beat the summer boss and I get a feeling the big twist is coming up. I'm really behind with my social links, as is tradition. Probably should decide which girl I want to go after really soon, I've narrowed it down to two and have one party member at rank 9 already though so I don't think I'm slacking as much as P5. Oh, and the social link perks do exist here but only for party members, so there's more of an incentive to get to know them over NPCs.

The bosses are all really well done, loved the latest one with its special version of the boss battle music. The dungeons are much more palatable than Tartarus, but nowhere near as enjoyable as palaces. Out of the three games I feel like I've spent the least time in combat here and there's been no need to grind at all. I hear that's because everyone got a huge buff in Golden and made it easier, so tempted to turn the difficulty up when I do NG+.

Also, Jushin Thunder Liger is a shadow now.


Thought for sure the Hanged Man social link would be suspicious as fuck, but he's so lame I haven't ranked him up once. Maybe he gets less of a dweeb as his story progresses.

So it was clear at the end to delete the monika.char file...which caused the reboot into the game w/o her, but did you guys restore the monika.char file once Sayori started to wig out on you? I did and I'm curious if there were different approaches to the end?

During the credits roll, you might notice that the scenes you unlocked were in color, while the scenes you didn't were black and white. Reinstall the game and unlock the scenes you missed the first time and you can get a special bonus ending. It's impossible to get them all in one run.

Playing Far cry 5

It is Far cry in rural Montana.

It's an Ubisoft game. Unless you've been living in a cave the last 10 years you know what that means and whether the game is for you.

I love them. Dunno why. Very repetitive. But I have fun with them regardless.

The best, I put Sunset Bridge on in as background noise on a regular and Life Will Change is in my workout mix. The 4 soundtrack is also pretty great, it's more of a grower though. Did you finish watching it all before you decided to play?

I agree. It's not linear like the previous entries (aside from Primal).

I can just spend my entire day fishing since it's fun. But with zombies spawning next to me, predators roaming, and goons on boats and jet skis passing by taking shots, it sucks.

Each world has X purple coins. Most (all?) 100 purple coin worlds have a moon that requires a specific costume. In a game of 900ish moons its totally skipable. Personally i liked hunting for them.

The second level I am in has 100 purple. Guessing the first level only had 50 since it's the first level. I will probably find them all and collect all the moons as I go. Otherwise the game will probably be incredibly short.

I've been watching clips of the P4 anime, the protagonist seems to be in full on troll choice mode 90% of the time :lol: Still more likable than the P3 protagonist, that guy is a dickhole. I'm interested to see how they handle Joker.

Haha, of all three protagonists Joker seemed to suit the strong and silent archetype the most, he's a man of action and is supposed to keep a low profile. Pretty hard to get a word in with Ryuji and Mona around tbf. Maybe he'll speak up more when they get into the social links stuff.

Oh yeah totally, the school drama club is run by ego. It's a pretty accurate representation of amateur theatre in general, she is a talent and has that desire to do well but once you get further into the link she's just not fun to hang with haha. You'll see.

Yeah Kanji's arc could be easily misunderstood if you were to just glance over it, which is brilliant considering that's exactly what his arc is about. His crossbones tattoo even looks like a reversed ♂ from the side. His contributions to the investigation are also clearly unmatched, masterful deduction skills.

Hermit is very useful for clearing dungeons early, optimally he's best to save for rainy days though because everyone else doesn't want to get wet.

Played God of War for a couple hours. Loving it so far.

Combat is still very hack and slash. Just different from the old ones. Best way I can describe it is classic GOW combined with Dark Souls. A little more tactical in that regard. Important thing is that everything feels REALLY good.

In P3 you couldn't directly choose which skills got passed on in fusion, you could cancel out and try again but it was somewhat random so it made it hard to build a persona for a specific purpose, or keep the good skills in your rotation. I heard vanilla 4 was the same, but it's probably only a pain if you're going to do the velvet room social.

In p4 it isnt random but you cant pick either. The first one you pick will have priority when fusing. But you cant pick the moves yourself.

I had her at 7 and Dojima at 8. Seems to be built that way by design since both get locked by multiple social stat checks, just the game's way of kicking you while youre down I guess.
