Gay ass Thursday Night Football needs to end. Who wants to stay up on a Thursday night and watch that

Droford

The betting community wants to kill Jeff Fisher. I think the line was Colts -4.5 and the Colts were up 9. Fisher goes for the meaningless TD with no time left instead of kicking a FG and then going for an onside kick/TD to win outright. They had plenty of time to kick the FG as they were down close to the red zone with like 1 minute to go. People are accusing Fisher of being in the tank for Vegas, being a fucking moron, wanting him fired..etc

Glad I didnt bet the game lol.

The concept of a 7-9 hosting is bad, but it's still terribly unlikely.

Sure, but a division champion hosting a wild card game game against a team with a better record than them isn't too uncommon. I don't think that's right.

Ermaximus

Jeff Fisher will NOT be the Titans coach next year.

Droford, I have a wager for you, if you're up for it?

Droford
12-10-2010, 12:04 PM
It almost seems like he's doing everything in his power to assure that will happen.

I bet he steps down as opposed to being fired though.

12-10-2010, 05:16 PM
I've heard of comparisons of how Fisher treated McNair's later years with the team vs. Vince Young's years but the main difference was McNair was much better as a QB and started to decline once he got injury prone.

Young hasn't developed the way the Titans are expecting and his attitude seems to be a big reason while Collins declined badly in stats compared to last few years.

I'm obviously not a Jets fan, I don't hate the as much as the Dolphins but until the Dolphins have a good team it's not as much fun hating them.

As for Rex Ryan, I don't hate him.... he's a good coach, he's funny, my ONLY real issue is I think it's a bad idea for anyone especially a coach to keep making predictions for their own team to win, especially where every time he does it they don't.

Pretty sure Favre was playing no matter what, but that's extra time for him to heal.

More annoyingly, they'll now have a short week of practice to prepare for the huge Eagles game next Sunday.

Evil Vito
12-12-2010, 11:05 AM
They can't play outdoors (they discussed the University of Minnesota) unless the Giants have all of their cold weather gear sent to them. They understandably didn't lug it with them when they were meant to be playing in a dome.

Moreover, Detroit has all the FOX cameras set up already. Plus the University of Minnesota has 10,000 less seats.

Gonzo
12-12-2010, 11:41 AM
The only thing that I'm pissed about is that I look forward to the game all week, and this happens. I don't think anything else really matters, as far as travel, a short week etc. It's 6 days for fuck's sake, that shit will iron itself out.

Evil Vito

So what happens with tickets? Have Minnesota lost a whole game's revenue?

Pretty sure the Vikings get the ticket revenues anyway, while Ford Field gets the concession revenues or a cut of the ticket revenue. They are compensated in some way but I'm not sure how.

You say that, but if the tix are free they'll probably have it mostly full.
Detroit will make money on concessions and its all extra to them anyway.

And Im sure the Vikings will refund the last two home game tickets to ticket holders since their last home game is next week and they won't be playing in the Metrodome in 7 days either.

My guess is the game next week is at the college football stadium.

well i know they're QB sucks cock. But the fact that Moss hasn't been hit that much, hasn't constantly been thrown too, i don't see him "not as good as he used to be". I DO think that this season he doesn't care if he gets thrown to because he probably doesn't plan on being in TN. You won't know how good someone is if you don't give them a chance.

Give the Lions a few more years and good decisions with draft picks and they will be a good playoff worthy team. Not title contenders quality but at the same time not a 0 to 4 win team either.

Don't try to insinuate that Tom Brady or Michael Vick will be the MVPs just because of their winning records.

They both have winning records along with unbelievable stats this year. Also better performances than Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bills also haven't even faced the Patriots and the Jets for the second time yet. He has proved to be a good QB and certainly better than they thought he was going to be. He is nowhere close to being the MVP of the National Football League. Just because he's the best QB on the Bills since Dougl Flutie doesn't mean hes the MVP of the league. He is without a doubt the MVP of the TEAM

Brady: 27 TDs (1 in the league) w/ 4 INT (2nd in the league factoring out injuried QBs and benched ones, 109.5 QB Rating (#1 league)

Fitzpatrick: 20 w/11 INT.

He's a running QB. When you run like that you get treated like a Runningback unless you slide. Brady stays in the pocket and throws it so he is given more protection because he stays inside the pocket like 99 percent of the time.

He is still the 2nd best QB in the NFL right now and is a great story of redemption. If he didn't break his ribs he could have had a chance to have the stats to match up to Brady touchdown wise and victory wise.

He's a running QB. When you run like that you get treated like a Runningback unless you slide. Brady stays in the pocket and throws it so he is given more protection because he stays inside the pocket like 99 percent of the time.

IN bounds with the ref looking directly at Vick's feet. Ref doing his job knowing that a late-hit out of bounds would be possible. Trying to make the right call making sure it was in bounds. If Vick can't take a push IN BOUNDS like that out of bounds he should just leave the NFL.

Also he's not a QB when he leaves the pocket, so he is treated like a WR/RB/TE would be.

It wasn't a late hit both announcers said that that it wasn't after they checked that both feet were in bounds during initial contact. The ref had his eyes directly on VIck's feet with his whistle in hand. He was waiting for the feet to hit and they did after he got pushed down hard, but legally to the ground and out of bounds.

Just because QBs are protecting in the pocket doesn't mean they are going to be coddled when they try to leave the pocket.

Really? Come the fuck on man! The ref was looking directly (right at) Vick's feet. Since he never took his eyes off his feet he knew he was in bounds when he got pushed.

Just because you looked at the strength of the hit and it was hard don't think there will be a flag because it was a hard push. This is football a game for MEN! It wasn't a head attack it was a push to the chest down to the ground. If the rules keep changing the way that have during the course of this season, pretty soon the NFL will be a one-hand touch league, because two-hands will be too violent.

I was really hoping that last week during pregame warmups that the Steelers and Ravens would have come out wearing flags.

I do actually anticipate that if there IS a season next year, that QBs will have to wear the "bubble" helmets.

How about a penalty for every touchdown that you get when you are up by 14 points or more cause it hurts the other teams feelings.

Probably wanted to make sure it just wasn't just McDaniels who was over his head. They want to put their entire coaching staff over their head so they can just fire EVERYBODY in the coaching staff in the off-season and start fresh next season.

Even though he isn't the coach it is still his team. Their QB is somebody who McD traded for. He traded a diamond in the rough RB who is now kicking ass for a rejuvinated division rival.

I'm sure we will see a clean house end of the season. There will be a new Coach, Coordinators, Quarterback, Quarterback Coach. The only sure thing on that team is Brandon Lloyd unless they fuck up and cut him or trade him to get a new QB. :shifty:

It looked like a punch to the head. That's why the youtube file is called 'Suh's Forearm Punch to Cutler."

It is what the refs see and it was a little bit too fast. The line judge could only see one forearm. So, it was a bad call just because he didn't see the entire 360 view. The fox commentator (and you, me and everybody else) has the luxury of a 360 view. Perception is reality.

Also if the NFL fined him then they thought that it was close enough to a punch to warrant a small fine.

Actually Peyton Manning can break that streak in 5 and a half years. That's a really really really long time but Manning would be 2 years younger than Favre when he did it. And the more and more that hitting QB's becomes illegal, the more likely it'll be that Manning does it.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of an inflated roof like that of the Metrodome and the old RCA Dome? It don't really get the reasons for it, it just seems potentially risky.

Advantages and disadvantages

There are some advantages and disadvantages as compared to conventional buildings of similar size and application.
Advantages:

Considerably lower initial cost than conventional buildings
Lower operating costs due to simplicity of design (wholly air-supported structures only)
Easy and quick to set up, dismantle, and relocate (wholly air-supported structures only)
Unobstructed open interior space, since there is no need for columns
Able to cover almost any project
Custom fabric colors and sizes, including translucent fabric, allowing natural sunlight in

Disadvantages:

Continuous operation of fans to maintain pressure, often requiring redundancy or emergency power supply.
Dome collapses when pressure lost or fabric compromised
Cannot reach the insulation values of hard-walled structures, increasing heating/cooling costs
Limited load-carrying capacity
Conventional buildings have longer lifespan

Don't expect Terrell Owens to stay with the Bengals after the season since he managed to blame everyone except the players for why the team sucks this year.

To be fair, the coaching has been horrible this season for the Bengals especially with 2 minute warning drives but Palmer has been really bad as a QB this season and the defense is horrible.

"You start with the owner, you start with the coaches. And obviously we as players, we are a product of what the coaches are coaching us throughout the course of the week.

"Of course, we have to go out there and play the game. But in order for us to do what we're allowed to do at the best of our abilities, the coaches have to put the players in the best position."

NFC West Scenario from yahoo:

• The Rams (6-7) drop consecutive home games against the Chiefs and Niners.
• The Seahawks (6-7) lose their next two, to the Falcons and Bucs.
• The Niners bounce back from a defeat to the Chargers by beating the Rams.
• The Cardinals (4-9) – yep, they’re still mathematically alive, with playoff hopes that only Anderson takes seriously, but still – rise up to defeat the Panthers and Cowboys.

That would create a four-way tie at 6-9 heading into the final weekend, with a pair of convenient intra-division showdowns to decide things: Rams at Seahawks, Cards at Niners.

Jets upgrade the suspension of Alosi from no pay and out for rest of the season to suspended indefinably. The Jets say its because new info of the coach giving instructions to form the human wall which led to the trip of a Miami player and almost an injury.

He's not fired but at the same time the NFL hasn't stepped in for any future punishments. No players involved in the incident are expected to be punished either.

Big rumor right now is Alosi is taking the fall for the instructions since someone else or a few people who are of higher value to the team actually gave the instructions before the game. A few teams and management people have complained about the Jets using this type of tactic for a while this season.

Patriots, Jets, Bills, and Baltimore. Three power house teams maybe making the competition a little bit too much. It would make for some great football except for the games with the Bills.

AFC North:

Steelers, Indy, Browns, Bengals. Two powerhouse teams plus two teams for them to feast on.

South:

Texans, Miami, Titans and Jaguars: Miami joins the proper division since they are one of the southiest teams in the league. No real powerhouse teams so there will always be heavy compeition to be the least shittiest teams. Keeping these jobbers in one division also leaves the other divisions with better TV ratings and matchups.

West:

Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders, Chargers: No change. Division is always full of competition and it always changes on what teams are competing.

Replace Buffalo in that list with Indy and then you have something. Fuck the AFC South and it's bullshit easiness for the Colts to win.

Though I'd rather have PIT have a spot automatically rather than IND. You can't steal the Bills from my Patriots though. They have to kick their ass every year to make up for all those times they failed at the Superbowl.

:foc: Who says Indy wins the South this year??? That remains to be seen and I have every bit of faith in my Jaguars thank you very much. MoJo is going to run all over Indy, like he always does.

Beats what the Viking fans usually do every week, shovel shit.

Troy Polamalu out for rest of the season but expected to return for the playoffs due to injured Achilles tendon. He won't be put on the IR list so Pitt can't replace his spot for the last few games.

This benefits the Jets a lot since they need a win badly after sucking last 2 games and the Ravens since they could go back as division leaders with a Pitt loss. Steelers need the win to get closer to locking up an extra week off as a bye for the playoffs for Polamalu.

Yeah, people seem to forget the old AFC east when the Bills dominated NE, Miami, Indy and NY

I dont see the bills being good any time soon. But as soon as manning and brady Retire, the AFC is going to shift like it did when Marino, Kelly and Elway retired.

Cyclical.

I don't see how you can break up the AFC North. All 4 teams are close geographically and there are pretty decent rivalries between all 4 teams including the best one going in football between the Ravens and Steelers which you pretty much give up.

SlickyTrickyDamon
12-19-2010, 11:46 AM
Ravens/Pats has become a pretty big rivalry itself. With the playoffs and all the trash talk between the two teams. Also a Jets/Ravens Rivalry could quickly start because of both of their defensive-oriented teams and trash talking defenders.

Steelers/Indy would also make a great matchup twice a year.
It's also time to end the rivalry between Cleveland and Baltimore or at least move it to one-game a year "special opponent" like Pats have with Indy.

So, I think it is an improvement that brings more parity to the divisions. Indy pretty much had to have all of their players on IR or banged up with concussions just for a CHANCE of them not winning their division this year. Things have to change and this is how I did it.

If you can fix unfair AFC south another way. Go ahead and give it a go.

Droford
12-19-2010, 11:57 AM
How is the AFC South unfair?

2009
3 teams at .500 or better (12-4 Colts, 9-7 Texans, 8-8 Titans..plus the Jaguars were 7-9) only the Colts made the playoffs
2008
3 teams at .500 or better (13-3 Titans, 12-4 Colts, 8-8 Texans) and 2 made the playoffs (Titans and Colts)
2007
3 teams at .500 or better (13-3 Colts, 11-5 Jaguars, 10-6 Titans) and all 3 made the playoffs
2006
3 teams at .500 or better (12-4 Colts, 8-8 Jags and Titans) only the Colts made the playoffs
2005
2 teams at .500 or better (14-2 Colts, 12-4 Jaguars) only the colts made the playoffs

So its been since 2005 that the division didn't have more than 2 teams finish .500 or better. Take a look at the other divisions in football and you'll see thats above average. Its no more unfair than the AFC East where the Patriots win the division almost every year other than the year Brady was hurt and the Bills/Dolphins/Jets sucked on a regular basis.

2005
2 teams at .500 or better (10-6 Patriots, 9-7 Dolphins) only Patriots made playoffs
2006
2 teams at .500 or better (12-4 Patriots, 10-6 Jets) both made playoffs
2007
1 team at .500 or better (Patriots 16-0)
2008
3 teams at .500 or better (Dolphins 11-5, Patriots 11-5, Jets 9-7) only Dolphins made the playoffs
2009
2 teams at .500 or better (Patriots 10-6, Jets 9-7) both made the playoffs.

They should allow replays for such plays.
