The Dundee keeper, Speroni, has joined Palace, aswell as this player called Emmerson Boyce.I'm assuming he's both are back up, as the latter was released by Luton so he shouldn't be that good.

We've had an offer of £500k accepted for David Connolly

Ronaldo, Figo and Beckham are stood at the feet of God at the gates of
heaven. God leans down and says to Ronaldo "And what brings you before me", to which Ronaldo replies "You have been my guiding light throughout my footballing career, from the ghettos of Rio to the bright lights of Madrid.
You are my saviour and I worship you and all that you have done for me".
God nods in agreement and Ronaldo dutifully takes his place at Gods side.

The Lord then speaks to Figo "What brings you before me" he says. Figo
replies "My Lord, you gave me the strength and belief to be all that I could
in my footballing life. I have learned from you respect, pride and
gratitude which I have conducted myself with fully throughout my career".
Again God nods in agreement and Figo takes his place by God's side.

The Lord then turns to Beckham and says "I suppose you want your ball back?"

At least we have got Speroni I think that's a good signing, I wonder what's going on with Gabor Kiraly? Emerson Boyce? who's he? also we have signed Mark Hudson he's quite good but he's only Div 1 quality and we have been linked with Marcus Allback in a £500,000 deal he will be a good signing and I'm still hoping we sign Tim Cahill.

Connolly will be a excellent signing for Leicester, I wish Palace got him instead of Shipperly.

Actually the PFA seem to think we hold the upper hand, since he came in for talks last Thursday and instead of going to training he flew to Paris. So he's pretty much in breach of contract by no-showing.

I doubt anyone will buy him after all this shit anyway. Who'd want a player like that?

Fuck me this thread has become filled with jobbers.

Drogba is the man, Saha is a poor mans Drogba, I can't wait till next season.

The Mask
07-14-2004, 05:31 AM
Saha is the man, but he seems a little sensitive.

Real Madrid are dickheads, as if you buy Vieira now. He must be approaching 30 at least, and it's all downhill from there. As good as he is, he doesn't have too many seasons left at the top of his game.

Same thing they did with Beckham, I suppose.

toxic rooster
07-14-2004, 05:45 AM
That's what I'm thinking.

Last year when all the talk was linking Beckham to Madrid, I was all like "Nah, never happen. David Beckham will never leave Manchester United". Like a week later I was proved wrong.

When I heard that Vieira was being linked with Madrid, my first reaction was "Nah, never happen. Vieira will never leave Arsenal". Now I'm scared.

Probably in like a week's time all the news stories will be out "Vieira signs with Madrid" and I'll be all like "".

Barca have received a bid from a British club for Saviola can't see it being United cause it would mean Saha/Smith being 4th choice which they wouldn't accept surely. Arsenal I wouldn't have imagined can afford him, Chelsea don't exactly need him if their getting Drogba and Mourinho doesn't want a huge squad. I'm guessing Liverpool at the moment with Baros leaving. Cisse, Saviola, Owen could be very good.

Cactus Sid
07-14-2004, 05:18 PM
If we signed Saviola it would be pretty hot, but my money is on Newcastle

Dazz
07-14-2004, 10:30 PM
Barcelona are well known for letting players go on the cheap, look at Kluivert for example. I bet they could get him for £10 million.

Also, Luis Fabiano is the man, his goal Vs Paragauy in the Copa America rules, and was from a really tight angle. The Brazil keeper made a fucking great save too just before Paragauys goal. Fabiano has an impressive scoring record for Brazil. With Ronaldo and co not playing he is gunna have to carry them to victory.

Dazz
07-14-2004, 11:48 PM
So it was 1-1 at half time between Brazil and Paragauy, Paragauy were 5/1 to win the game so I stuck £2 on them because I knew they would win, by far the better team. If Argentina don't win the tournie I'll be amazed. But Brazil should beat Mexico.

Wengerland
07-15-2004, 09:18 AM
Mexico beat Argentina earlier.I'm still going for Brazil to win it, they may have lost yesterday but they were already through anyway.

Sheringham's gone to West Ham and we've signed Pressman (:|) but that's mainly to allow Coyne to go to Burnley.Sunderland have made a late bid for Connolly

In premiership news, Chelsea have more or less signed Tiago from Benfica and will probably get Drogba now Crespo's going to AC Milan on loan.Looking like Kluivert will be off to Newcastle too.

Kezman scored on his Chelsea debut.

Yeah, good pass from Gudjohnsen but Kezman took the goal well, he had plenty of shots and really impressed me, it's also good to see how easy Gudjohnsen and Kezman linked up. Yes I realise it was only against Oxford, but the passing between the two of them (mainly from Gudjohnsen to Kezman) was really good to see. Joe Cole also found it easy to pick out Kezman, his off the ball runs were good and if he plays like that all season against better teams, he will soon be the man.

The game finished 1-1 but in all fairness to Chelsea, we didn't have Lampard. Also we played some youngsters who no one (me included) has heard of and it was one of them (Stephen Watt) who messed up for the goal. Geremi proved that he can't even perform well against teams like Oxford :|.

Only a friendly after all, we lost 2-1 at Barnsley but that was missing about 5 or 6 first choice players.

Dazz
07-17-2004, 09:11 PM
I was just about to say that, one of the best free kicks I have ever seen, everyone has to watch that goal, Fabiano's Vs Paragauy and Peru's against Bolivia (I think it was them, the game ended 2-2), and one of Bolivia's against Peru, all outstanding goals. The positioning from Tevez couldn't have been any better. Shame he never does anything that good for Boca Juniors, he was linked with United last year, but they have enough attackers now.

What I found interesting is that the Boca Juniors keeper was in goal for Argentina, and when River Plate and Boca Juniors played in the Copa Libertadores last month there was a ruck and the Boca Keeper had scratches on his face after it, dunno if anyone in the Argentinian squad was responsible for it.

Lost £3 though  I bet £2 on Peru to win, 50p each on 2-1 and 2-0 to Argentina. Solano's free kick was also fucking good, two inches lower and it would have been a beauty.

You kidding me right? Souness was the only guy who was willing to give them a second chance. The problem is Yorke. At Man United, he got on Ferguson's bad side and burnt a bridge and his little boyfriend Cole cried too like a little bitch. Souness thought he got a good deal on Yorke when United would have given him away for free at that point. He has no heart what so ever. He never had one good game the entire time at Blackburn. He only ever performed in one big game for Man United too. We would have never had won the treble without them but they aren't big game players. £60,000 a week for those two pieces of sh</>it? No wonder they didn't want to leave. If I was making that money and was a treble winner, I'd be damn embarrassed if a player from the 3rd division came into the team and outplayed me.

Cole will probably be sh</>it at Fulham but maybe he can do something when he isn't hanging around his boy toy pal.

The only mistake Souness made after signing them was NOT breaking their legs in training. They are a pair of cry baby bitches and the quikcer their careers are over, the better for everyone.

It is just before the next United v cITEH derby

Ronaldo goes into the United changing room to find all his team mates
looking
a bit glum.

"What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this
game. We know it's important but it's only cITEH. They're crap and we
can't be bothered".

Ronnie looks at them and says

"Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub."

So Ronaldo goes out to play cITEH by himself and the rest of the
team go off for a few pints.

After a few jars they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord
to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 0

He is beating cITEH all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and
the
game is forgotten until someone remembers.

"It must be full time now, let's see how he got on".

They put the teletext on.

"Result from Old Trafford " United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 1 ( Bertie Magoo 89 mins )

They can't believe it; he has single handedly got a draw against cITEH

They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the
dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands.

He refuses to look at them.

"I've let you down, I've let you down."

"Don't be daft, you got a draw against cITEH, all by yourself. And they
only scored at the very very end!

"No, No, I have, I've let you down...

I got sent off after 12 minutes "

Yes, he is the man, and is the only signing in the summer that I am really pleased about Kezman is good but hasn't proved himself in Europe, I think Drogba showed last year in Europe that he is the man. If it wasn't for the fact that no players Chelsea future is certain for more then a season I would get Drogba on the back of my Chelsea shirt.

Kezman had a better record at PSV than van Nistelrooy i think, him and Drogba should be a good partnership.

I think they've paid over the odds for Drogba, bearing in mind he's just had one good season and there's a lot of reports that he was being offered to English clubs for £4 million or something like that less than a year ago. That said, having seen him last season he is a player i'm looking forward to seeing this year.

And yes Wengerland Drogba was offered for 4million last year, thats roughly what Marsielle paid for him.

Thought so. Just find it hard to believe that he's moving for around £10 million more than the leading scorer in the French league last year, Djibrel(sp?) Cisse. Then there's the fact that his price has gone up £20 million in the space of 1 year so i think Chelsea have been a bit hard done by, their original offer seemed good enough.

With Abrahmovich i guess it doesn't matter so much, then there's this Tiago deal which just seems pointless.I've heard Benfica want £10 million but read last week that Chelsea would buy him for 6 and then review his contribution after a year, if good then they'll keep him and pay an extra £2.5 million but if he's not needed then he'll go back to Benfica for £2 million :|. If that's the case then Kenyon seems happy to waste a lot of money.

Funny you should say that because Boro were in talks with him before Man Utd resorted to their usual underhand poaching tactics.

Sorry but that's wrong. Middlesborough put in a bid for him, he flew over for talks but shortly before he got on the plane, he got word Man United put in a bigger bid and he went to Manchester Airport instead. At no point did he hold talks with Boro other than agreeing to fly over. How putting in a bigger bid for a player is underhand poaching is beyond me. Poaching is funny too considering Jaap Stam and Ruud Van Nistelroory cost us over £33 million (which PSV were never going to refuse) and Dwight Yorke cost £13 million and John Gregory laughed at the time saying he was willing to accept £8 million if they made a take it or leave it offer.

Not saying Alex Ferguson and co haven't talked to players when they shouldn't have but every club does it, even those who think they get screwed.

Dazz
07-20-2004, 02:27 PM
Jaap Stam admitted he was tapped in his autobiography, poaching is the wrong word to use, but you sure as hell tap people. Forlan was probably tapped, but thats not been proven, Bellion was certainly tapped. Another thing United do is make it public that you like a player and deliberatly try to unsettle them, like Smith, Saha, Ferdinand and there are probably more.

The Nistelrooy situation was handled disastrously by you too, inviting him to train with you for six months or whatever it was.

Yeah we did great deals with Smith and Ferdinand. If they never went to Man U, it would have cost any other team at least £6 million less to sign them. Clubs love it when Man U come in for players because they always are priced over the top.

I don't have a list handly, Inter Milan definitley made a bid, and at least one other English club did but I can't remember who it was. Leeds could have got more but didn't because Smith refused to go anywhere but United, and only did this because you publicly expressed interest in him.

Bolton have increased their bid for Camara by £200k and been told to fuck off, to put it bluntly. I'm just sick of it now, to be honest we might as well take whatever we can get for the twat and be done with it. He's a major reason we were relegated (shite defending being the first, but him being unable to hit a cow's arse with a banjo for the first 30 odd games of the season cost us a good few points) and he doesn't want to stay around and help fix what he's responsible for, so fuck him.

Riiiiiiiiiight. So I've no reason to be pissed at him, whatsoever. Despite the fact he wants to jump ship when he's a major reason the ship sank (so to speak). Regardless of the fact he refuses to even sit down and talk with the club. Regardless of the bullshit excuses he's been giving for wanting to leave (won't be African Footballer of the Year 2005? :wtf: ). Regardless of the fact that the vast majority of the fanbase stuck by him through the first 3/4 or so of the season when to put it bluntly, he was shite, and yet he now seems to think he owes us nothing in return, even though he has absolutely no right to be doing what he is doing, legally or morally.

Just so we're clear and all.

I just lost a lot of respect for Dickov after he left despite us offering a new improved contract, standing by him after La Manga and giving him a break in his career from Man City's reserves.I can appreciate that premiership football is more attractive but he's not going to win anything at Blackburn and may not be first choice, with Stead and Gallacher being groomed for the future. Only other thing is his international future but even then Vogts has shown that he'll pick first division players.

As long as Connolly scores the goals for us then i don't really care about his behaviour off the pitch. He chose us over a club managed by the guy who gave him his international debut, so i'm guessing they got on well, which should mean that Micky Adams is a good manager and person in Connolly's view.

Dickov didn't do anything wrong in La Manga. You know? Charges dropped. Why in the blue hell would anyone in their right mind want to drop down a division at the tail end of their careers when they have better offers in the top league? He had a contract with you and he didn't have to accept another one. Don't know how you can get relegated and yet offer players like him improved deals. Maybe he was on a crappy one to start with. Remember who put the clause in his contract which made him available to talk to other clubs if a fixed price was made,

think fulham will be a surprise package again this year! hopefully we will have a good season, dont know how we are going to play tho. i think mclaren will go 4-4-2 with Schwartzer, Reizeger, Southgate, Ugo, Quadroe' at the back. Then will have Parlour, Mendieta, Boatang, Zenden (if signs) in midfield with Viduka & Hassilbaink up front.

I wouldnt play this as with 2 forwards capeable of scoring goals, i would play Juninho just behind them, a) this is his best position, b) he will score more goals from here & c) he will make more goals from here. I would drop parlour to the bench to play the little fella or if zenden doesnt sign play him.

Vieira didn't even play for large stretches of last season. He has been struggling with injuries for the past two years.

Thierry Henry is more important to them. Robert Pires too, when he shows the form he did last season.

If Freddy Ljungberg finds his form again, they'll be pretty much unstoppable again.

I'd take £30 million for Vieira at his age, and considering his recent injury proneness. Edu and Lauren could easily step into central midfield.

Wengerland
07-30-2004, 07:21 AM
Vieira's the best at what he does but i agree with ECG about taking £30 million, with that Wenger can buy a good replacement and he rarely gets it wrong in the transfer market.

I saw the main linked replacement was Maniche, which could work as, even though he's more attack minded, they'd still be Gilberto there (most likely) to help balance it out.

Anyway champions league third qualifying round draw today (the one with Man Utd and Liverpool in).

Vieira is already heading down the Roy Keane road of spending more and more time injured. He has a very troublesome knee injury that doesn't look as if it will ever clear up. He'll be struggling within a couple of years to keep the pace.

I don't think he has the big match mentality, either. If Vieira was half the captain people say he is, he would have had Arsenal winning important Champions League ties by now. Talented player, but I'd always pick Roy Keane ahead of him.

Dunno if any of you lads have mentioned this already, but Australian defender Craig Moore looks set to become the millionth ( ) Australian to play in the Premier League, with Blackburn about to sign him. He'll join Australians Lucas Neil and Brett Emerton at the club. The fucking twats at Rangers stripped Moore of the captaincy then gave him the arse, all because he wanted to play for Australia at the Olympics. :nono:

Speaking of the Olympics, a friend of mine asked me if there will be an English, Scottish, etc side in the Olympics football or whether it will be a Great Britain side with a combination of all you British guys. I have no idea, anyone know?

There is no British representatives in the Olympic football tournament, because of the structure of the FAs.

Plus, Craig Moore wanting to play in the Olympics is a joke. The tournament should be kept to youth players only. Professional, full international footballers should not be allowed to take part.

Paul Scholes has retired from international football at just 29. Must be some injury we don't know about or something cause I can't see why he'd do this otherwise. Thats England's best midfielder gone anyway ( and before anyone starts he is their best midfielder, Gerrard will be better but isn't yet. )

Wow, I am shocked. Perhaps he wanted to go out at the top, quit whilst he was ahead, before Super Franky Lampard replaced him permanently.

Soccer means hitting a ball with your foot and it fits more appropriately .

Football means carrying, tossing, throwing. Also, what do you think they use to make a field goal? Their feet, which is very vital for the New England Patriots. But i'll take option b, thanks.

Football should be at the Olympics, but not in the current form. Football has its own competitions which matter more to the people involved, and that should be respected.

I'm thinking Robben will play on the right if they're both fit, but it's a good move anyway, considering Duff's injury problems last year.

Bit surprised Mutu has been let out on loan, considering Mourinho was talking about 2 players for each position. Heard they had a bit of a bust up on that American tour though, so i can't blame Mourinho for kinda making an example of him.

You'll hear alot of things, Mutu, Duff and Cole have all been rumoured to have said pretty much the same thing in the last month, but Cole and Duff are still there, it's bollocks.

Duff's injury problems are indeed a bitch, but I think we should have just kept Zenden, and played him when Duff was injured, and play Joe Cole out on the right wing.

Having said that, I don't think he'll be a regular (I damn well hope not anyway)...I'm thinking it's more a case of Jo Lescott hasn't played for a year, so we absolutely have to have cover for him, cause he's probably not going to make it through the whole season without at least one rest period.
