I can see Favre coming back next year because the Packers almost made the playoffs this year.

Still have no clue who to root for this year. Anyone but the Colts and Pats I guess (lol CC's superbowl)
I'm KINDA an Eagles fan but not really, only cause all the stupid gay Giants fans hate them
Obviously the Saints are like everybodys 2nd favorite team this year, dunno though. There is something about them I just don't like.
I picked the Seahwaks to win the Superbowl preseason, so that would be pretty cool. BUT, I don't like th Seahawks at all.
Bears are alright to I guess, I would def be rooting for them this year if they didn't seem like a bunch of derrilicts at times
AFC don't care as long as it's Chargers or Ravens
JUST TO let you guys gauge my feelings on the remainder of the postseason

If the Pats don't win it, I wanna see the Bears win it or just aslong as the Colts lose It's all good too.

Well, I meant the Saints but we all know the AFC Championship is gonna be the real SuperBowl because the AFC is that much better than the NFC.

If it was over 2 min. I could understand it. You'd still have the 2 min. warning. But under 2 min. You'd have to drop them 3 and out and still would'nt have much time to do anything.

I've completely forgotten now how far back they were, but I would think that even being willing to take a shot at a potential game tying field goal would be better than punting it back. This one is a total mystery to me.

To be honest, I've got no beef with the Eagles. They played an awesome ass game, and I'm glad I recorded this one. Was pretty much a roller coaster ride on many levels. But I'd be lying if I said that Andy Reid's playcalling made sense to me a lot of the time. Not saying I could do it better, and I'm sure he got to where he's at by making some good decisions, but this one is really bugging me. Guess I should just focus on the fact that we're heading to the NFC Championship! Hope it's against Seattle too. Personal opinion though.

The only thing i can do without, is the 6 days of non stop Colts Vs Patriots segments on every sports news channel or show.
I just want another home game so i can go.
Phillip Rivers will have to make a few plays in this game. He's not playing the Broncos and Raiders you know. Bellechek will find a way to contain L.T and Rivers will need to make some plays. That said, you trust a guy making his first playoff start, to make big time playoff plays? And you trust the coach thats calling those plays into him? I just think Rivers will find a way to blow this game. Not because he sucks ( like Rex Grossman ), but because its his first playoff experience and he's still a bit raw. I can see New England picking him off and running back a game deciding TD. I can see L.T. getting held to about 77yards and 1td too. Patriots 24 Chargers 10

I'll pretty much take that bet too, tbh. Makes a lot of sense to me. I like the Pats better than the Chargers by far, but all bias aside, I can still see them beating San Diego pretty good, statistically, anyways.
The Seattle/Chicago game tomorrow, however...I have no idea what to predict. I guess it depends on which version of Rex Grossman shows up.

lol Manning is playing awful yet the Colts keep winning. Kinda seems like this year could be the year now, since he's already fucked up a lot in the playoffs like usual but they haven't lost. I wonder if any member of the Colt's offensive line is gonna come out and say "well we had some throwing problems" if they do end up losing though?
Pats Chagers tomorrow WOW FUCKIN PATS, better win. Especially after those faggots aren't letting anyone buy tickets unless you are from Southern Cal..fucking gay
Who cares, we won. Teams win championships, not players. Unless you're Bob Sanders.
NICK HARPER ALL UP IN YA!
Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-14-2007, 04:07 AM
Thats what I mean though, Manning has done his usual performance (or lack there of?) in the playoffs yet they keep winning so I could see the Colts actually winning it all. I dunno though, somebody has to captialize on 5 INTs in 2 games eventually. Atleast you'd think so anyway
The 2 he threw tonight were horrible. It's like he turned into senile Brett Farve. The two he threw to Ty Law were just plain miscommunications.
But yah, he played horrible tonight. But all things considered, he was playing the Ravens and they kept there safites about 25 yards back the whole game. It was rediculous. Which is why the Colts ran more then they threw the ball.

I was leaning more towards Chargers winning since they've been so dominant and they are excellent, but now I would really like it be either the Saints or Ravens to win the SB.
Ravens/Saints would be a great Superbowl. If Chargers win the superbowl, I would be just as happy as either Ravens, Saints winning. I suppose I am very open minded for the SB this year.

BTW, Ray Lewis basically gave the Colts the game. Those two potential INTs that Ray Lewis prevented could've swung the game to the Ravens favor.

Possessing guns and amo isnt a horrible things. Its actually very common. Even the guns he had. It's the " not having the license " or what have you that gets him, but thats something that can be chalked down as just being stupid. I know 3 people that possess more guns and one who was in the army has over 8k of ammunition. Its not unheard of. Some people collect these guns and shoot them on a everyday basis. I'm thinking Johnson probably once possessed them legally, but got stupid and didnt renew his license or something?

I don't see why he had to take a shot at Belichik. I mean I can understand LT being upset, but he can't honestly think that Belichik influenced the mocking dance.
While I am better now, I do not think I will ever get over how New England so ruthlessly disrespected the Shawne Merriman dance. A vicious, terrible chain of events this was.
Which dance was it anyway? The one where he pretends to turn off a light switch, or the one where he "pretends" to stick a needle in his arm?

New England will win the Super Bowl. If anybody has any sense in their mind then they will realize this. Manning is not going to beat the Pats. The Bears or the Saints don't have a chance in hell.

I believe it was the one where he looks like a complete and utter retard
Marty should be fired cause his defensive players are obviously coached to be stupid. Drayton Florence is an absolute retard for what he did. I cant believe he'd get that personal penalty. That guy should be cut today and sent packing with Schottenheimer
Marlon Macree isnt quite retarded, cause its just instinct to make an interception if its thrown to you, but its only instinctive if your coach doesnt making it clear to the defensive player barking the plays, that its 4th and 5 and any turnover that happens beyond the line of scrimmage is screwing YOU ( the Chargers offense ) out of several yards and in this case, the ball. I mean comon. This is the fucking Patriots. They're smart. They might not have the best players physically, but they're usually the best coached players on the field. Its simple, 4th and 5 and the ball is coming straight to you. A simple " Hey make sure you knock the ball down or fall on any fumbles" from Martyball, would have probably resulted in Macree actually knocking that ball down instead of intercepting it and getting stripped, by probably the smartest player on the field at the time, Troy Brown. That strip by Troy Brown was one of the best plays i've seen in this playoffs. You know you're completley prepared for the game when you can instinctivly make a play like that.
Sorry Marty, time to go.

You know the thing about Shawn Merriman that gets me? Now I'm not without the fact that a huge portion of NFL players are probably on steroids, and yeah Merriman is just one that got caught. The thing I hate is that people are still on his jock about how good he is and how great of a player he is when they know he juices.

Anyways, I'd like it to be a Pats/Saints superbowl, with either one winning. That would be awesome. I don't mind seeing the Patriots constantly winning because they don't bother me. Plus I'll be able to say I was around to see them in their day, kind of like seeing the great Steelers, Cowboys or 49ers teams of the past for some people.
And if the Saints win that would be cool too. I just hope we don't get all that shit about Katrina because that was years ago.
I guess I wouldn't mind the Bears either, just as long as the Colts don't win. No offense to the Colts, but I just don't feel like having Peyton have one more thing that Eli can be compared to.

I've heard two lines that sum this game up pretty much for me. First one is pretty cliche i guess " Now or Never ". The other i heard a guy on the radio say " This is a amazing oppurtunity and a potential nightmare all wrapped into one ". Meaning, Manning and the Colts can pretty much answer all the questions with this one game, against the Patriots, but if we lose, it would be unimaginable.
I seriously cannot describe how on edge this city is right now. The peices could not have fallen together any perfectly. Home game against their arch rivals in the AFC Championship game. The story has been written perfectly so far and now Manning, Dungy and the Colts need to give it the story book ending. This is basically what everyone in Indianapolis feels. If we lose this game, this city will be crushed.
I dont think the window will be closed, but it will never be open as wide as it is right now.

If he does, he will have an 13-1 record in the playoffs (I think). It is almost shocking to me, because it seems like he should be getting even more credit than he does. He realistically is better than Montana and whoever else is considered the best playoff QB right now, IMO.

I took a break in time to watch the final 5 minutes. There was a large crowd at center court watching the game. And when Vanderjagt missed that field goal I could hear everyone's hearts being torn in half as I jumped up and down and ran back to the store yelling "CHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKEE."

Yeah that's true about the fans, here the fans really aren't viewing this as "do or die" since there is no reason to feel that way..plus we've already seen the Patriots win a lot. I don't really think this will impact the players though, like I highly doubt guys on the Colts are going to be hungier then guys on the Patriots or anything like that.
Should be a hot game, Colts got 'em last time by 7 but the Patriots passing game wasn't anywhere near where its at now. Running game hasn't been too hot lately though..plus the Colts D is playing a whole lot better then it was then(although Sanders probably plays a big role in that since the Patriots game was one of the few games he actually played in during the regular season)

Seriously though, who's guarding Reggie Wayne? Ellis Hobbs? Comon. And then who will cover Dallas Clark in the slot? I'm starting to think that New ENgland may get stretched so thin that Addai and Rhodes will have there way with them.
You can't do that. You know you can't do that. You know that that matching game only works in Madden. You know that absolutely none of that will matter when the game actually is played. At least you should know.
Are you foreal? Reggie Wayne has torched every single person the Pats have put on him. Asante Samuel has gotten really good, but he'll have his hands full with Marvin. I'm kinda shocked you dont find matchup important. Thats dumb. They mean alot. Especially given Waynes history for torching the Pats #2 cb and with Dallas Clark red hot and damn near uncoverable by even the best linebackers in the league ( ravens ). Honestly, DrA, you're wrong. It means alot.
It's not that I think that matchups aren't important, it's just that I don't think that who New England puts on Reggie Wayne or Dallas Clark is really going to be the deciding matter as to who wins the game. I've heard that spreading out the defense makes the running game better statement many times, but I don't necessarily believe it. Even if it is true, the Patriots are probably the hardest team to spread out anyway. I also don't see how Hobbes is any worse than Drayton Florence or Patrick Surtain in terms of how he will cover Reggie Wayne.
The key to this game, as it is with most games, isn't who covers Reggie Wayne, it's how the Patriots are going to put pressure on Manning and that Colts' offensive line. Manning has one of the quickest releases in the game, and he also has the ability to audible and get the ball to a receiver before the defense knew what hit them. The fact of the matter is that it doesn't really matter who the Patriots put on anyone, as Manning will find the open guy if he has enough time no matter what. However, if they find ways to blitz Manning accordingly, they can make him make mistakes and crack under pressure, no matter who they have in coverage or zone.
I think it matters alot. I'm pretty sure Hobbs was the guy that got lit by Harrison in the first meeting this year. It wouldnt be no different with Wayne. Pats dont have the secondary to be able to blitz Manning that much imo. They're better off just doing what Baltimore did and drop there safteys back 25 yards. Cause if they blitz, they're leaving someone man to man and Manning is brilliant at finding where the blitz is coming from and where the man to man is. Marvin, Reggie and Dallas ( depending on whos covering him ) can all beat man to man coverage and the Pats will get shredded that way. Thats why the individual matchups matter. Ellis Hobbs cant cover Reggie Wayne 1 on 1. I'm sorry. Samuel might be able to do something with Marvin. I think he's a great cb, but Hobbs is in trouble.
I think Manning is gunna have a huge game, but i think Brady will have a big one too. Colts defense is playing amazing, but you have to take it with a grain of salt kind of. Its hard to believe they can sustain what they're doing. Especially against New England, but that dome is going to be on fire. Its going to be like nothing you've heard before. Crowd could will these Colts defenders to another brilliant effort. I dunno.

Hey RP buddy! I had to come back and visit you for this one.
Well, two of my 4 picks are still in. Pats & Saints, which were my super bowl picks (I had Ravens and Cowboys in the conference championships).
As for LT, I’ll just give him a pass for being over emotional. I don’t see how imitating a dance that a player does is disrespectful. It’s not something new, TO did it to Ray Lewis, the Pats in the super bowl did the “eagles” pose. What I do find funny is Merriman only did the dance once and that was on a hurry not a sack. He had a sub-par game for himself, the “Lights Out” was Matt Light blocking him. I did get a real kick out of Rivers yelling at the pats to “act like you’ve won before”, sure, cause if you had won that game you would have shaken hands and just walked off the field calmly with no celebration and Merriman and the rest would have followed suit.
Also a side note, after the Charges destroyed the Pats last year, a bunch of players celebrated like that, and players were in the hallway in-between the locker rooms yelling things like “F-the Patriots, the Patriots are dead” etc… This is why Colvin did what he did after the game.
As for Marty, great game calling, if you kept the ball in the hands of LT and Turner the Chargers probably would have run. The Pats have the #2 run defense, but the Charges could run at will. The 4th and 11 was one of the stupidest calls I’ve ever seen. If you really don’t have faith in your pro-bowl kicker then take a delay of game and then punt.
Ok, now we move on to Indy.
I’ll be honest, this Colts team concerns me more then any of the others. Typically in the playoffs they’re defense doesn’t step up, this year (through 2 playoff games) the defense looks great. Manning has had two sub-par games, he typically has a sub-par game against the Pats in the playoffs, and I can’t see him having 3 sub-par games in a row. Dallas Clark, Clark has been playing so far over his head since he’s come back, the pats dealt well with Gates, however Clark is playing better then Gates. Can a LB keep up with him? Can an undersized DB take him down?
So, of course I pick the Pats still, I wouldn’t put money on it. (Rule, never bet on the home team, your judgment is always clouded by either feelings or the fact that you know more about the home team then visiting teams).
I pick the Pats because they have a better running team then Baltimore and I don’t think the Colts will have the same luck shutting them down, Yes, LJ didn’t have a great game against the Colts but he only ran the ball 13 times. The Pats have a good defense, #2 against the run, I don’t see Addai having the same luck as LT. Manning hasn’t played well this year in the playoffs and has a history of not playing well against the Patriots. Also the Pats DB’s have played well in the playoffs which won’t help Manning.
I think you’ll see the Pats do what they always do. BLITZ! They will be all over manning, which allows DB’s who normally wouldn’t be able to stay with Harrison or Wayne to cover them because they won’t be going deep, it will be short routes because deep routes will get Manning sacked (or throwing the ball away) a good pass rush makes your DB’s better because they’re not being asked to stick with WR’s and long/deep.
I’m not picking the Pats because “they always beat the colts in the playoffs” in the same way I laugh hard at people who pick the Colts because “Manning is due”.
It should be a good game, I’m not worried about our kicker, Adam has more experience but Steve G has a better leg (which is part of the reason Belicheck made the move he did).
If the Pats lose, it will be the Colts defense getting to Brady, taking away the deep ball and throwing off the short routes and the screens. The key for Manning is Clark, he has a monster first half and the Patriots have to consider double teaming him which then leaves Harrison or Wayne most likely one on one.
On a non game note… How stupid is Michael Vick? Airports where they check everything, where they didn’t allow shampoo and toothpaste incase it was an explosive, you bring a water bottle with a hidden compartment that has weed in it? I’m convinced if they went to a 5-wide simple system Vick could have a really good year, but now I think he might be too stupid, trade him to the Raiders and give the ball to Schaub!

I forgot to mention on the Clark key to the game if the Pats have to pull a LB to double him, it hurts the blitz and the run defense, which would open things up for the Colts.

Is Asante Samuel 1st corner? IF so I guess he wont be guarding Reggie Wayne unlesss they sawp CB's in a different package.

Oh get the fuck out. I havent even read this yet, but my god get the fuck out.
A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a New England Patriots fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they are Pats fans, too. Not really knowing what a Pats fan was, but wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands flew into the air.
There is, however, one exception. Susie has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Patriots fan" she reports.
"Then," asks the teacher, "what are you?"
"I'm a Indianapolis Colts fan," boasts the little girl. The teacher asks Susie why she is a Colts fan. "Well, my Dad and Mom are Colts fans, so I'm a Colts fan, too" she responds.
"That's no reason," the teacher says. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was an idiot. What would you be then?"
Susie smiles and says, "Then I'd be a New England Patriots fan."

Cause if they blitz, they're leaving someone man to man and Manning is brilliant at finding where the blitz is coming from and where the man to man is. Marvin, Reggie and Dallas ( depending on whos covering him ) can all beat man to man coverage and the Pats will get shredded that way.
Like Pittsburgh got shredded last year?

Vick stuff happened yesterday I assume, news wires picked it up today.
I've already gotten tired this week of all the Pats fans who think we'll win "just because" it's as annoying as people who pick the Colts because "Manning is due to win".
So, I figured I'd come here for some good football talk.

You're right about Dallas Clark, but he's hardly played above his head. He's that good make no mistake. He's just a victim of a team with so many weapons. The guy makes some of the best catches i've ever seen from a tight end. He's to Manning what Novachek was to Aikman, accept he plays the slot position like a 3rd WR. He's one helluva a mismatch and if teams blitz ( like you think New England should ) , thats when you see 20-30 yard passes dropping in to Clarks hands down the middle of the field. And when catches them, he takes the hardest hits and holds onto the ball. This guy is sick. See the Baltimore game.

Pittsburghs defense was alot better then Patriots defense this year.
I dunno, I think you could make the case overall NE's front 7 is better than Pittsburgh's was. Their secondary is weaker, no question, but as we've seen if you can get pressure on Manning it can affect him to compensate for that. It's just a really fascinating matchup, it comes down to so many little details.
Would you agree that the pressure is on Manning and the offence more than the defence to perform though?
I think the pressure is on the whole team to perform to be honest. Its the New England Patriots we're playing. We need a complete performance to beat these guys. Defense and Offense and Special teams.

He's good, I'll give that but not a great as you're making him out to be, he's been on a tare since being back though.
Problem is, if the Blitz is coming, he wont be 20-30yds down field, if the Patriots Blitz the way they can, you're talking 5-10yrs slants and quick outs, which is where Wayne or Harrison "could" really hurt the pats but haven't in the past. Samuel is playing as well as Ty Law did in his best years, it's Hobbs I worry about... he plays good, but tends to get burned at least once a game on a big play and he seems to be getting a big ego lately, if you count the swipe he took at a player that was missed by the refs last week I think he'd have a personal foul in the last 3 games.
Either way, should be a good game, I don't see a blowout.
Adam V does have ice water in his veins and will be kicking in a dome, but that only matters if the Colts put him in position to win the game, I don't think it comes down to that... I say whoever wins does it by 7-10 points.

I dunno.Yea you are right about the match ups, Wayne and Harrison are both really good...but they don't play games on paper. I mean how did the Colts D stop Larry Johnson? Sometimes shit just happens...The Colts have beaten the Patriots the last two times (one of those games was during the Duane Starks era too) after losing 7 in a row. I am sure the Patriots have an idea of what to do...maybe get physical with 2 of the softest wideouts in the NFL?
Or maybe you are right and the Colts wideouts will run wild, I mean Harrison did lay out Champ Bailey...probably one of the hardest guys in the NFL to block so who knows? I'm fairly certain Vinatieri is going to have a chance to win the game and will shank the kick and the Pats will win. Then he'll be all upset and Peyton Manning will go over to him all mad and shit and as soon as Manning turns his back BAM steel chair to the back of the head. Then Vinatieri rips off his Colts jersey to reveal a Patriots jersey and gets a mic and tells all the Colts fans to stick it. Then Tom Brady comes over and spray paints nEp on Manning's back while fans throw trash onto the field.

LOL@ our recievers being soft. That argument was made back in 2003 and they're still putting up all pro numbers. Obviously if they are soft, no one is doing anything about it. Comon man. Stop with that bullshit. If they were soft and the answer was to get physical with them, it would have been done by now. That shit obviously doesnt work cause they're better then that. So lets stop with the soft shit. No team left in this playoffs is soft. Colts didnt work 7 minutes off the clock against arguably the toughest team in the league, in the 4th quarter, by running 12out of 13 times, being soft. Just stop. That argument is old and wrong.

First he said the WR's are soft, which has little to do with the running game. (you dodn't run the ball 12 out of 13 times because Wayne and Harrion were leading the way).
Second, It has worked, every year they have been knocked out of the playoffs it's been by a physical defense. Your offense didn't bean the Ravens, your Defense did.
I wont call the Colts WR "Soft" but I'll explain why everyone says that. Every year they get knocked out of the playoffs by a physical defense, the defense blitzes Manning and the DB's jam Harrison and Wayne at the line and it throw's off the timing patters that they run. The Blitz giving Manning less time to throw and the bumps at the line slowing down the release of the WR's, that is why they're called "soft". Until they prove otherwise that will always be the image.
Until Manning wins the big game he will always be 2nd to Brady, it's the same with Marino and Montana. Marino set all the records but Monatana won the rings.
If the Pats were out, I'd like to see Manning win a ring, simply because I like him more then Marino and would rather no see him compared to Marino in the "can't win the big one" way, but until he does, that's how he will be looked upon.
The Pats will be out Sunday. So get your Peyton Manning jersey while you can.
