I am so tired of people talking shgit about how Reggie Bush doesn't have the stats to back up his hype.. The simple fact that two of the TD passes Drew Brees threw were because the Bucs D bit on Bush play action, is enough for me to love him.. Fuck stats.. He's the biggest decoy in the NFL..

As long as we're winning, I could care less how he effects your fantasy team..
lol

How many times are you gonna talk about this? I don't think anyone expected a rookie RB to dominate the NFL. I think more people figured he'd be a lot more dangerous in the return game but the best rookie returner resides in New England (check the stats nuggas)

I missed the draft for my league and ended up with him, I didn't really want him but I figured he'd have more then one TD by now. People who have him on their fantasy teams are going to complain because you don't get points for the "NFL best decoy" - I don't think people are calling him a bad player or something.

A. The Colts don't play the Chargers.
B. Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman needs to put the illegal substances down.
C. Vanderjagt isn't on the team this year.
D. I believe he was just referencing those situations and not actaully predicting that the same EXACT thing would happen again. Pretty sure he just ment that the Colts where the Superbowl Champs in November last year too and look what happened

When have I talked about this before??

Also, I'll quite defending the Saints when people stop hating on them.. I mean, I had like 3 dudes come up to me yesterday at the mall and say "wtf Reggie Bush sucks" etc..

I had on my "Got Bush" shirt..

Jesus Shuttlesworth

Yeah I don't know why you feel the needed to constantly defend the Saints on here though, since I've yet to see anyone bash (atleast "seriously") the Saints.

Nobody is hating on the Saints

What are you talking about? Obviously people are going to shit on teams that suck, it happens. Now that they are good are people suppose to still say they suck? I don't get it

It's not like they've had one good game or something, they are a solid team this year so nobody is going say they are awful? Even so I don't really remember hearing that many people shitting on them that badly anyway, most of the shit they've gotten made fun of for was their own fault too though (Brooks throwing the pass in the wrong direction, missing the PAT after the Stanford part2 play)

No I'm pretty sure they'll find some way to recreate the PRECISE circumstances that existed last year when they ended their unbeaten streak. BTW Bill Polian said they are unbeaten in the past, like, 3 years in regular-season "meaningful" games.

Except the Chargers game. He thinks the chargers game was meaningless... but the Colts got embarrassed.

Thing is, think about this: Dolphins beat one of the best teams in the NFL. They also beat the 1985 Bears. The Dolphins WILL BEAT the Indianapolis Colts if the Colts are unbeaten after 15 games. Buhlee dat. The Miami voodoo will be in full effect.

It's the nature of the beast.. Like how every analyst is now acting like they've been a Saints fan for ever.. It's bullshit..

I know and accept that it happens, doesn't mean I have to like it..

Also, as I already said, I'm not talking to any particular person on here, it just also bothers me how people keep saying Bush is a bust just because he doesn't have 800 yards from scrimmage and 15 TD's on the season.. I'm saying that he isn't a bust due to the fact that even without those type numbers, defences still bite on him almost every single play.. Helps out on the play action plays..

Also, Toomer is out for the remainer of the season.. The Giants are gonna be hurting (literally) to make a wildcard spot..

Kinda sad cause they were looking good, but these injuries are killing them..

Yo I guarantee Tiki Barber is going to be unstoppable with all of these injuries on offense. They rely on him so much and he is like 50% of the offense. Last week he had like 116 yards on 19 carries. Like he just gets better when he is needed more.

What do you mean by that? I'm just asking because its not quite clear to me.

Anyways, if we don't get our guys back on defense we're fucked in a big way. Toomer is a tough loss but its manageable, Tim Carter can step in and play.

They have been good but not great all year long. Granted, the NFC is the weakest it has ever been, but I think that with Chicago having home field, which I'm assuming will happen but who knows anymore? And Nawleans looking to do the same, I don't believe the Giants can sneak into another Superbowl. Of course, if they do, they will be embarrassed again -- but that's neither here nor there.

I think that the NFL wants a Peyton/Eli Super Bowl, but not yet. Eli hasn't established himself as a star... and if you think he has, you're wrong. He's just a #1 draft pick who made a fuss and is related to some good QBs. I think it's best to wait until Peyton is on the downside of his career, since he is a top-5 all-time QB, and Elisha... isn't. So you take Eli in his prime against Peyton on the decline, with Addai in his prime and who knows, maybe Harrison is still playing second fiddle to Wayne but I doubt it... Eli, Plax, Shockey, Brandon Jacobs vs the Colts... it will make for a far better "showdown," in my opinion. ALSO, I think that two in one season would be overkill. They had the manning bowl and it sucked. Let Eli hit his stride first.

Yah, i'm sure the NFL will risk fixing a season to get a Peyton vs Eli superbowl.

Fact is, you're a hater. Its known fact. You can try to deny it, but we all know, if the Vikings were contending, you'd be whistling a different toon. NFL dont fix games. Tuck rule.

Polamalu's INT.

Sometimes, one blown play will change the outcome of a game (tuck rule, bert emmanuel rule). Sometimes, it's meant to swing the game (polamalu), but fails because one team is just thoroughly superior to the other team.

The FACT is, either the refs are so incompetent, blowing several game-deciding calls every year, that they have no business being on the field... or, every once in a while, they're asked to "nudge" one team over the other. Maybe a holding call on a long TD, or a roughing the kicker on a FG that probably was too long to make. :dunno:

The convenience of some calls really does make me wonder. And I think that the NFL refuses to hire the refs full-time, because this way they KNOW they have an excuse for blown calls -- error. If the refs were 365 employees, there would never be any excuse for blown calls.

And I can't fathom the Vikings doing well, to be honest. They are so disgusting right now, I cannot remember two years ago, when Daunte Culpepper got his roll on at a record-setting pace. :(

RP
11-11-2006, 04:39 AM
well, as much as i dont want to say this, i dont think anyone even knew wtf a tuck rule was during the New England game.

That Polamalu INT, well i dont know. Its just hard for me to believe that the NFL would do something like that.

What the fuck ever..

I was just making a passing statment about how gay it is that everyone is now on the Saints jock, winning or no.. I mean, the Bears are good, but it doesn't mean I'm gonna go out and buy a jersey.. Also, I get tired of the once hateful locals, who are now supposed fans acting like Bush is the next Ricky Williams, just because his stats aren't great..

I was a fan when we had Bobby Hebert and Ironhead Heyward, not just when we got Drew Brees and Reggie Bush..

Gonzo
11-11-2006, 04:51 PM
I understand what you're saying Kris P, but that happens with any team that gets good, in any sport. People jump on the bandwagon, its mostly the casual fans, so kudos to them for whatever. I'm a Giants fan, always have been, always will be. Doesn't bother me if some front runner wants to root for a team, doesn't affect me.

Nervous Ferret

AlphaBean

People are busy, they don't have time for losers. Simple as that. Fans, on the other hand, do. If they didn't, there wouldn't be sellouts at Pink Taco stadium in Arizona every week, or in Cleveland... those are fans. The same fans who are smart enough to sell their ticket to a playoff game to some rich douchebag who wants to take his date there, only to stand outside the stadium in the freezing cold, cheering on his team while watching on a 13" TV.

But that's like a girl who used to be fat saying, "Where were all the boys trying to fuck me when I was fat? Sure, there were some emo boys, and some negroes, but now all the guys trying to get a piece."

Jesus Shuttlesworth
11-12-2006, 03:42 AM
Personally, I'll take the fairweather fans that come along with a good team since that means my favorite team is doing good. If you are complaining about fairweather fans you are just digging a little too deep for something to complain about.

Pat Arnold: Alright, after da heart attack, I gotta say Ditka 17, Giants 14. He just barely gets by.

Bill Swerski: Alright, that sounds exciting. Perhaps, you know, a late Ditka field goal.

You know something, I'm not trying to discredit the Bears because they're a decent team but the Giants really beat themselves...

- The injuries to our defense didn't appear to be a problem, but it showed after a while
- Our secondary is like swiss cheese
- Eli is so sporadic at times its aggravating
- The injury to Petitgout (LT) was shitty, because Bob Whitfield was getting beat like he stole something by Alex Brown
- The Hestor play was just ridiculous, as a professional fucking athlete how the hell do you fall for that?
- Will Demps (Giants FS) sucks, I wish I knew this when we signed him (like it matters anyways)
- Thank you Giants coaching staff for 1.) not getting Jeremy Shockey the football and 2.) calling a FG on the Hestor play when you're only down by 4 in the first place because 3.) you could've pinned the Bears within their own 10 because Jeff Feagles is one of the best in the business at doing so

In summation, Giants football really pisses me off sometimes. Like, its ridiculous because either the Giants that play well show up, or the Giants that play like a shitty High School team show up.

I get it... like the reason the Colts won today....

the Bills missed a FG.

The only reason there should be is because one team put more points on the board than the other.

Gonzo

It surely comes down to that, but with the parity in the NFL these days it just isn't justified to say "Well this team won because they got more points."

It doesn't really tell the story.

Isn't that the guy whose family got fucked hard in Katrina so he was like "Fuck this I have no skills other than running insanely fast but I'm going to enter the draft anyway." So all the "experts" said, "it's a good thing to do for his family, but it's kind of stupid because who would pay a kick returner big money?"

Then the Bears did...

And now the Bears look good for it.

MAYBE I AM WRONG. I know there was some guy who was entering the draft because of Katrina and he was only a kick returner.

Also someone tell me what Colston's story is. Where the fuck did he come from?
Hester's family just needed money in general, not really anything relating to Katrina so he boucnedddd from the U. He would have been real sick this year there too, since Larry Coker was planning on installing a whole bunch of plays for him on offense and using him at like a Ted Ginn/Reggie Bush level.

I'm surprised he is a defensive back on the roster, I figured they'd have him as a wide out and let him develop there (and let him return kicks while he does, obviously) You gonna tell me you can't put this guy in for like 10 plays a game and throw him a screen or two?

Minus the turnovers, we looked really good for a second week without "Hollywood" Joe Horn.. Shame about that last drive though.. Copper had a great game until then..

The double reverse to Bush for the TD made me cream my pants alittle..

As I said in like week 3, Marques Colston is the motherfucking truth..

That direct snap was crazy as fuck.. Haslett used to use the direct RB snap but it was always Brooks walking away to the sideline with his arms up like there was confusion..

I want to have Drew Brees' children..

Deuce is still the most underrated RB in the league..

We hurt like 3 of the Steelers D-Backs including Polamalu..

We got the Bengals next week.. Gonna be another wild game, I suspect..

I agree. Deuce is a damn good back, he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I had the same feelings about Tiki for a while and to a certain extent still do because he doesn't get mentioned a lot of times when talking about the great backs in the league. I could be wrong about that though, since I don't really pay attention to a lot of the sports media (especially ESPN) because its usually garbage.

Anyways...

I was kind of pissed to see the Saints lose to the Steelers, but on the other hand I'm kind of glad since it goes hand in hand with the Giants losing. I'm just thinking for seeds when the playoffs come, provided the Giants don't play like last night for the rest of the year.

Deuce McAllister is definately not the most underrated RB in the league. There are a few things wrong with that statement. First off, he's not Warrick Dunn. Second, he hasn't had a really good year since 2003 and being hurt all the time doesn't make him underrated. Third, Deuce has a HUGE contract. Something in the $50 mil range I thought. He's good but he definately doesn't qualify as underrated.

Jesus Shuttlesworth

He had a pretty good year in 2004, 1074 yards at 4 yards a pop. I'll agree with 2003 being a ridiculous season tho, over 1,600 yards rushing 500+ yards receving...damn

To be honest I don't think the Bears are at that level. This isn't because I'm bitter or anything but I noticed something in the opening of the game Sunday night:

If a team with a good ability to pressure the QB plays the Bears, I think they're toast. The whole offense was inept (Bears) in the early going against the Giants. We were sending blitzes, getting some nice pressure etc. Why we stopped this through the course of the game is beyond me (the coaching sometimes makes me mad) but I just don't think the offense is good enough to battle through that. Obviously if you pressure any QB they're going to play worse, but some teams are better than others at blitzing and getting to the QB, which I believe will be their downfall.

Just throwing an opinion out there:

AFC

The Colts regular season is never the issue, the colts in the big game is always the issue, and that defense which can't stop the run

New England is good, but no longer unbeatable

If San Diego wants any chance of going deep in the playoffs, they damn well better win this week against Denver. They'll need the home game, but they're one of the teams that I think could beat Indy. I'd worry about Rivers on the road in a big playoff game

Denver is also very good and very good defensively, but I don't want Plummer anywhere near a key situation in a playoff game, if they wanna go deep in the playoffs, they also need this game

Baltimore has a great defense and has the DB's to play most WR's man to man. McAllister is great and Rolle is no slouch. Plus Ray Ray and Ed Reed. And with McNair, the offense will be ok so long as they can do just enough to get say 20-25 points on the board they'll be tough to beat

That leaves one spot for Jacksonville/jets/ Kansas City, I think any of the three can be competitive, but will get beaten in the first round

And furthermore, are you so stupid as to think that "any given sunday" DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS YEAR?

Are you fucking kidding me?

Every year, "this is their year."

Ask how powerhouses perform in the playoffs at home. Ask the Colts last year. Against a "grass team" in the Steelers. I bet you the Panthers, with a healthy Peppers and a healthy Steve Smith, would be able to defeat the Bears (again).

*YAWN*

Anyways....

The Bears didn't have an offense that could put up 30 PPG last year. And I know what "any given sunday" means... like:

"The Vikes could win a game.... any given sunday"

My point is that, even with the idea of "any given sunday", that the Bears have the upperhand and should be the favorite to represent the NFC in Miami this year.

AlphaBean
11-16-2006, 01:53 AM
Statistically, the Bears are favored to represent the NFC this year, but only because they have the best record. What matters is who is playing the best football at the end of the season, out of the playoff teams.

And the Bears put up 30 PPG, until they face a good pass rush, and Rex Grossman shows his true colors.

I would put my money on the team that's been to the Superbowl (Panthers) in its current form, and even made it to the NFC Championship last year, and would have made a second appearance to the SB if they had a HB... so this year, they have Deshaun and Deangelo, I think they'll be ok. *knocks on wood*

If not... well, who knows? Seahawks at full strength, Giants with Strahan, whoever has the pass rush available and the offense good enough to exploit the C2.

Oh and your joke about the Vikings... come on, please be realistic. They can't win on any given Sunday. They're not good enough for even that. :(

Colts would smoke the Bears defense. Its not like Indy has showed spectacular offensive plays this year. Most of our games have been won by throwing short passes and running the ball. Some of that is because of the defenses, but also some of that is because Indy can win games like that. They dont have to show everything. If the Colts played the Bears in the Superbowl ( they gotta get there first ofcourse ) I promise you the whole kitchen sink would get thrown at the Bears and the Bears would lose by 2 touchdowns or more. Rex Grossman cant put up points with Peyton Manning. No one can.

Great when for the Cowboys, but my god, Roy Williams is horrible. He tried to give that game to us like 3 times.

Huge, huge, huge win for the Cowboys. This pretty much cemented a playoff spot for them, especially with the loss of McNabb and Atlanta's mediocre play. It's still possible for them to get a first round bye in the playoffs if they can get the momentum going.

I'm glad we lost. I mean i hate to lose, but its better to do it now, then to do it when everyone is talking about " undefeated ". Plus we lost to a good team. We turned the ball over way to much and were looking for the refs to save us on that last drive. Now we can go back and correct the mistakes and be ready for the playoffs.

McNabb out for the rest of the season.

And overall today, the Eagles just played horribly. As a fan, it pains me to say this but, I think the season is over.

I hope you're right being a Cowboy and all..but saying they have cemented a playoff spot is ridiculous. Not like everyone's gonna play exactly like they did today for the rest of the year.

Vandershank is a piece of overpaid garbage who will cost us a game down the line...and Romo on the other side of the spectrum is the man.

I know they have not CEMENTED one, but this win is the win they have been needing all season long. Just when they were going to get a role going they did something stupid like lose to Washington for no legit reason. And with games against Tampa Bay, Detroit, a McNabb-less Eagles, the Saints/Falcons which they are going to win at least one of, the only game that may cause some concern for them is the game at the Giants, which I think they are going to win anyway.

You've got to trust me here. :(

Honestly don't even much care about this season anymore. Plummer's inability to hit open recievers, hit recievers on his team, HOLD ONTO THE FUCKING BALL and not suck have totally killed my interest. Because now (yeah, JUST now) I realize, no matter how well Denver does, Jake'll just fucking blow it at some point.

The Cutler era can't start soon enough. He doesn't have to be the next Elway, but he just can't be the next Plummer. :'(

RP

You just realized all that? Its been known by everyone for like 4 years now.

FearedSanctity
11-20-2006, 12:40 AM
Yeah, because usually the rest of the offense is good enough to make up for his fuck ups. But not anymore. RBs are too inconsistent and the recievers can only be as good as Jake lets them. Losing Gary Kubiak hurts more than anyone will admit

I didnt watch the game, but the stats say Plummer only threw 1 INT. Anyways, Denver shouldnt be giving up 35 points. 27 points should have been enough to win with Denvers defense. So lets not pretend its all Jake PLummers fault.

FearedSanctity
11-20-2006, 01:21 AM
No, it's not all Plummer's fault, but I do think he deserves a majority of the blame. Plummer's one INT (this week anyways) allowed the Chargers to score their last TD and kill most of the clock. That INT came as Denver was slowly moving their way downfield for a potential game winning FG.

His first fumble came on a 3rd down somewhere around the 15 or 20 on a snap that looked good, but he just dropped it, thus forcing Denver to kick the FG to give them only a 6 point lead.

His last fumble came with about 20 seconds left from around the 35 yard line. While not as bad as just dropping it like before, he could've, you know, not ran around with the ball with it just hanging out there, taken the sack and gotten up to throw some sort of unlikely miracle pass.

Like I said, it's not all Jake's fault for this game, and sure Denver's defense could've done better, but Jake didn't exactly make things easier.

I'm not saying whether Plummer is at fault here, but stats, especially looking at them blindly, do not tell the whole story.

RP
11-20-2006, 01:34 AM
Plummer didnt give up 35 points. Maybe 7 depending on how that INT turned out, but if you have a defense thats been pumping there chest telling people how good they are and they give up 35 points. Lets spread a little blame that way too. I dont really need to see the game to realize that Denver shouldnt be giving up 35 points.

FearedSanctity

Never said he helped them get ALL 35, but he helped them get enough for it to matter.

Ocho Cinco burnt the fuck outta Fred Thomas twice..

Brees was trying to force it too much..

Also, Terrance Copper has now fumbled the ball 3 times in two games.. Twice on game tieing drives..

The turnovers gave yall the game.. How the fuck do you have over 500 yards of total offence and not win??

I'm seriously asking you, because it happened to yall last week..

We won't lose an NFC game the rest of the season..

Broncos really aren't gonna be any better off if they get rid of Plummer, they had some stat that since he joined the Broncos they have won 3 out of every 4 games. I know they don't always win because of him but I mean do you really think somebody is gonna step in and have a better ratio then that?

Well, if Brees didn't throw the two picks in the endzone, the pick that the Bengals scored on, and the XP didn't get blocked that would've made the score 31-24 Saints. So I would have to say turnovers.
