Pretty damn good game today by the Giants/Cowboys. Glad to see improved play out of Eli but the defense was a definite letdown, especially at the end. Couple missed oppurtunities (big one being the missed INT by Gibril Wilson), and the coverage schemes at the end were just baffling. Witten had a huge mismatch with Pierce in coverage, which just makes me frustrated because the defensive playcalling is terrible.
I don't know. I really think the Giants have to win out to have any sort of shot. The division is still possible if a few stars align, but who knows if they can bounce back from such an emotional defeat.

Also, is Marshall Faulk retired or what?

I love this whole QB thing in Denver. It's just hilarious to me.
Man, we gotta get this Plummer guy outta here! He throws way too many picks. He makes too many mental mistakes and bad throws. Sure, we've made the playoffs every year since he got here, but he makes too many stupid throws into tight coverage. Now this Cutler kid, he's gonna go places. He'll win us a lot of games that's for sure, unlike that Plummer chump. And this kid's exciting. He's a gunslinger! Sure, he'll throw a lot of picks but he's a gunslinger! He's like Brett Favre. He's not afrain to throw into tight coverage. He's a real risk taker.
FearedSanctity
12-03-2006, 11:10 PM
Well, for a rookie who's never had a meaningful NFL snap before tonight, he's not doing that bad.
Supreme Olajuwon
12-03-2006, 11:12 PM
That's because he's a gunslinger! Jake Plummer made stupid throws. Jay Cutler makes risky throws. They're completely different.

60 yard field goal. Are you fucking kidding me. Anyways, Colts arent shit. They arent winning in the playoffs with teams running 200 yards a game on them. Its pretty simple. This season will probably end as badly as the last few.
Watching Vince Young repeatedly break down the defense and run for 1st downs on 3rd down plays was like standing up against a wall and letting someone hit me in the sack repeatedly with a baseball bat. It was just bad.

It's always one or the other with Denver. When they have Defense, they have no Offense. And when they finally get the Offense going, the D disappears.
And omg, Denver has to have to worst group of lateralers ever. Anytime they have to, it starts out well and then after the first few there's always some tard who runs into a group and just tosses the ball up, or fumbles.
:'(
No honestly, i officially fear the guy now. Thats the fucker Houston should have drafted if they want to stop us. We have no contain to the outside. He made the Colts look like little kids out there. The scary part is, he's just a rookie and should get even better as the years go by. Thats the guy that will kill Indy's streak of division championships. Vince Effing Young.

I should be standing up for our starting QB and saying "a win is a win"
We are Back-to-Back NFC North Champs....
But I can't.... A FUCKING 1.8 RATING? That is fucking pathetic. I am quite happy that we are Division Champs but if we come across a team like Dallas or New Orleans in the playoffs... we might get smoked... no matter how good our defense is.
There seriously was no excuse today for how bad Rex played. Maybe he'll bounce back and run up 300+ and a few touches on the Rams next Monday.

Dunno isn't their cap situation still screwed? They're gonna be rebuilding for a while yet, looking kinda promising though.
What i saw today, made me believe Vince Young wasnt just a fluke at Texas. I kind of wondered if he would be able to do the same thing in the NFL. He did it yesterday, thats for damn sure. He looked unstoppable to be honest. The guy looked like he was running as slow as possible and he still managed to shake and juke every defender the Colts threw at him. It was sickening. Then that fuck kicking that 60 yard FG. My fucking god are you kidding me. This is how our local radio play by play went ( cause i cant stomach Bryant Gumble or anyone else CBS puts on the tv ) " The kick is up................. HE MISSED IT.. HE MISSED IT........................ he made it. " :nono:
Devin Hester is rookie of the year btw. I dont see how he isnt. Just about every touchdown he's returned has been under big circumstances.

Colston definantly.. He's still ranked in the top 5 recievers in the NFC and that's with missing two and a half games..
And Joey Slugs, he had a 1.3 QB rating.. Stop padding his stats..
:foc:
Brad Johnson only had a 10.3 QB Rating.. Might be like, the worst combined QB Rating for one game of all time..
Drew Brees could get a 11.6 if he farted the ball to his recievers..

That's one game I'm not sorry I missed. LOL.
Our defense is absurd, yet what the fucking fuck.
1: We can't get a pass rush, so Grossman should have had a field day.
2: Matt Leinart passed for 850 yards against us last week. Madden style. Boldin and Fitz were both top 5 in receiving for the week. Now it was the Chicago defense with the Madden line. See that shit? Every starter on D had a turnover or a sack. It was amazing.

The Saints suffered a big blow to their defense Tuesday when they found out defensive tackle Hollis Thomas (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3769), who is having a career year, is being suspended for four games because he violated the league's steroid policy due to asthma medication he takes.

Thomas is a 335-pound defensive tackle who has struggled to keep his weight down and doesn't have the body that normally would be linked to steroids.
During his appeal, John Amoss, who is the Saints' team trainer and an assistant professor at the LSU Health Science Center, sent a letter to the league in support of Thomas. Amoss said Thomas has severe asthma problems and requires a high dose of inhaled steroids to breathe. According to the doctor, Thomas needs a long acting beta agonist and a short acting beta agonist to control his asthma.
During his August drug test, the defensive tackle was taking an asthma product called Advair twice a day while also using an inhaler four times a day.
"Advair contains both the steroid fluticasone and the long acting beta agonist galmeterol," wrote Amoss, who thought the possibility of a false positive might have happened.
After taking the information under consideration, the league ruled Thomas was in violation of the policy and he will be lost to the team for the remainder of the regular season.
If New Orleans makes the playoffs, Thomas would be eligible to play. He can be added to the active roster on Jan. 1, 2007, the day after the regular season ends.

OK
So my buddy just called me to say that Hollis Thomas (the badass DT we got from Philly) has gotten suspended for 4 games for steriods.. The steriods that he tested positive for came from asthma medicine perscribed by his doctor FOR HIS ASTHMA..
COME ON
Seriously, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard..
To be fair, people take steroids because they're not good enough to excel in the NFL, so if you can't do it, you can't do it.
If you need steroids to breathe, maybe you shouldn't be doing a job where oxygen and pulmonary function are VERY IMPORTANT.
Take for instance that little dude without legs who played football and was all over the news, and went to the Browns game this week? He loves football, and he's okay at it -- the only problem is, HE HAS NO LEGS.
Can we give him bionic legs? He could run a 1.8 40 with robolegs... but he needs fake legs to play NFL football. So why not?
It's harsh but it's true... if you're not able, you're not able.
PS: Devin Hester? Fuck that shit. We can return kicks. We've had a PR TD against the Pats, and had at least one TD KR called back on penalties...
That article in general was retarded. Preseason, WR was not a need position for the Saints, so taking a stud at #2, while Colston is The Man, he's also on the Saints, I believe Devery Henderson's having a pretty good season too. Saints probably would have picked someone on D I'd imagine?
And Bush to the Raiders*? With QBs on the board? WTF.

Exactly..
He has asthma and needs medicine to treat it.. I mean, he weight 340lbs and peolly bencjes over that.. It's not like he's trying to get bigger..
Aren't the steroids used for asthma completely different from the anabolic ones? I'm sure there's more to the story than that.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
12-06-2006, 06:34 PM

I don't know, I took steroids for moderate asthma when I was younger for a while, so I think it's a standard thing to do. However, there are different types of steroids, and usually the ones used for that kind of thing are not the same as the ones that turn you into Scott Steiner. There just has to be more to the story than that.

The agent for Saints defensive tackle Hollis Thomas has forwarded to us the text of the letter submitted to the NFL in October 2006 by the Saints' team physician, Dr. John Amoss.
Wrote Dr. Amoss: "I am the team physician of New Orleans Saints and this letter is to document that Hollis Thomas has severe asthma and requires high dose inhaled steroids, a long acting beta agonist and a short acting beta agonist to control [his] asthma. At the time of his drug test in August 2006, Hollis was taking Advair 500/50 twice daily along with singular 10 mg daily and albuterol inhaler four times daily. Hollis continues to be on this same drug regimen to control [his] asthma. Advair contains both the steroid fluticasone and the long acting beta agonist salmeterol. Hollis' urine drug test in August of 2006 was positive for clenbuterol which is a beta agonist. At the time of the test, Hollis was taking two beta agonist to control his asthma (albuterol and salmeterol) and the possibility of a false positive test in this case would appear to be highly plausible."

I don't know about that, they just find a trace of the steriod in your blood they are going to assume it is a steriod for performance enhancement. Steriods used in medcines etc can contain the same the chemicals as the type of steriods body builders use.
I mean, I've heard stories of people failing drug tests because of poppy seeds or some shit like that, so it is kind of the same idea.

They tested the poppy seed bagel/failed drug test thing on Mythbusters and you can fail because of it..
He was on Sirius NFL Radio yesterday and said it was because of the medicine.. He failed it in August, during preseason, and has been appealing it since.. The NFL are doing a "zero tolerence" policy against the banned substances, so they didn't drop the charge.. It's a black and white thing, which, as this case shows, should be modified..
It's really bullshit to lose one of our best defensive players because of this.. Specially, when we are pushing to make it to the playoffs..

On Madden a couple years ago, Boller went out on my Ravens squad so Anderson came in... he fucking dominated. Got more yards, too, because Boller scrambled, so as a pocket passer...
Yeah well, anyway, he became so good that he wanted to start. :(
One week after Dallas Clark is shown on a Madden commercial getting fucked up by two players, he fucks his knee up. Coincidence? I dont think so.
This is from Bill Simmons colum on ESPN.com yesterday.
"8. Cincinnati
A riveting season that included seven players getting arrested (and counting), the rejuvenation of Ocho Cinco and Carson Palmer, some remarkably weird games (the win over Pittsburgh, the losses to San Diego and Atlanta), goofy fantasy seasons, season-ending injuries and everything else you could imagine. And you know what? I like the way the Bengals are playing right now. So there you go. You can't call them a sleeper because nobody's sleeping on them.
Now that we have that settled -- what about seven Bengals players getting arrested out of 53? That's 13 percent of the team! Imagine if 13 percent of your office or classroom had been arrested in the past few months? Can they get to 10 before the end of the season? You figure with holiday parties coming, that's good for one DUI. And the holidays bring visitors and family members, which usually brings trouble, so that's good for some sort of incident at a party or a club. So we only need one more wild-card arrest -- something harmless like speeding and attempting to evade an officer, or shoplifting a Christmas present of something -- and then we'll be at 10. Now that would be something. Ten Bengals arrested in one year? We'll be telling our grandkids about that one. Keep your fingers crossed."

12-11-2006, 07:41 AM
Wellllllll...let's hypothesise.
Bucs are horrible. Really, really horrible right now. At the rate they're going, they'll be lucky to make .500
Carolina is 0-2, have lost a key member of their offensive line, and it's not clear when their best player will be back, nor even if/when he'll be 100% due to the nature of his injury.
Atlanta are off to a good start but they have a tendancy to fall off as the season wears on, Dunn especially. If they can't run, Vick has to throw. If Vick has to throw, they're in trouble. Their D might be enough to cover for it, but I'd be cautious right now.
Saints remaining schedule is like this:
Atlanta
@ Carolina
Tampa Bay
Philadelphia
Baltimore
@ Tampa Bay
@ Pittsburgh
Cincinnati
@ Atlanta
San Francisco
@ Dallas
Washington
@ NY Giants
Carolina
I've bolded the games I think they can potentially win. Obviously a lot will change between now and then. But at this point, even though their D is not especially good, they seem to be gelling as a shootout team, which suits most of their players on offence really.
If they win those games they're 9-7. Normally I'd say 9-7 won't get it done, but nobody in the West aside from Seattle will win 9, the teams in the East will beat each other so much 9-7 will probably win that division, and it remains to be seen how good Minnesota will be.
So they could sneak it.
Maybe.
But probably not :$

Karney getting his first three TD's.. Bush looked good, as did Deuce.. Glad Colston was back, and with him at number two, and Devery Henderson at number three, we barely missed Hollywood Joe Horn.. I loved the final drive.. I mean, we ran it all the way down to the Cowboys 4 yard line and then knelt on it with like 3 minutes left.. Anyone else think its funny that the Texans missed out on a lot of good offense talet in the first round, only to have the defensive player they drafted in the 2nd round end up being the candiate for Defensive Rookie of the Year?

I think the draft class will be known as "The year of the running back"
Bush, Jones-Drew, Maroney, Abdi, Williams

Alright, but it will take effort ON MY PART OUT OF MY OWN TIME to find AND RESIZE an avatar TO WEAR for my favorite team losing to your favorite team. I feel like I have in Zimbabwe or Chad or Canada or something.

Is there any doubt that Devin "Windy City Flyer" Hester is going to be ROY?
I haven't seen RP post in here since his ill-fated "OMG PEYTON IS GONNA SMOKE THE JAGUARS IN THE SECOND HALF" comment."
Grow some balls and rep a team in here you fucking faggot. All you do is talk about how bad the Colts are. I dont even know who you root for. I do know your a dick sucking faggot and you sound like you were once teabagged by Peyton Manning in high school or something. Shut your faggoty mouth . . . Faggot.

Oh wow, let's all bow before the Bears fan who thought a Bears player was going to do well.
Let's also all pray to God we are as smart at football as Krispy, because he predicted the Saints were going to be awesome this year.
OH WAIT, HE PREDICTS IT EVERY YEAR BECAUSE IT'S HIS HOME TEAM.
You only predict mediocrity or below if you're a Vikings, Lions, Cardinals or Rams fan. Oh wait, there's a Browns fan here, right?

Oh fuck off dude... when I made that comment... there was no reason to think that Hester was even going to anywhere near the starting lineup.

Nah...only if you're a SMART Rams fan. SammyG, Savior, Splaya all like to talk up 10-6, 11-5 but I always peg them as 7-9 at best. But still, shut up.
Stupid question for Slugs: What does GSH on the Bears uni and merch (hats etc.) mean?

GSH is the steroid they're using.

"Papa Bear" George S. Halas
Bears' first owner and coach.
Colts should wear GSH on there uniforms.

Other than him being a 2nd round pick who was signed JUST TO RETURN KICKS? You don't sign someone that high to fight for the position. The Vikings signed a WR in the 6th round for that a few years ago. I think the Cowboys got Skyler green in the 3rd or 4th.
You KNOW he's going to return kicks, and he certainly ain't starting at WR or CB.
But you know what reason there was to think Hester was going to do well?
BECAUSE YOU ARE A BEARS FAN. YOU THINK EVERYONE IS GOING TO DO WELL.

So would Hester win defensive or offensive rookie of the year? I'm not sure how that works.

Now, you might have assumed that the first seven players getting arrested would've made Marvin Lewis blush a little bit, but no. However, eight players getting arrested? Well, Marvin Lewis says he's just embarrassed.

Why is he considered for offensive? He hasn't touched the ball on offense yet, or even taken a play on offense. He is a defensive player
If he ONLY returned kicks and punts then maybe, but I've seen him playing a lot more defensive back lately, which makes him a defensive player, which inturn makes him a canidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Actually, i think theirs a special teams player of the year too, but i've said it already in the NFL MVP thread. I think if Hester returns one more kick or punt or anything, he's MVP.
I'd also give consideration for ROTY to Maurice Drew, but considering he plays the Colts twice a year is equivlant to Florida scheduling Western Michigan ( or someone ) in the 10th game of the season. So no.
