Amazing comeback by the Cubs.

Giants being gone already guarantees whoever wins is going to get their first title in 20+ years.

Would love to see the Cubs dick the Nats silly if they meet in the NLCS.

Cubs/Dodgers would be pretty swell too

No idea who I want. I've said this about the Nats in this thread all year. They are a really good baseball team. They've had a great year thats been overshadowed by the Cubs. They done it all this year with an injured Bryce Harper who is toughing it out like a fucking boss and playing everyday. And Daniel Murphy just showed last night why he deserves to be in the MVP conversation.

I don't understand Droford's random hatred for certain teams.

Think its actually part of a real and bigger hatred Os and Nats fans have against each other because of some old style territorial thing in baseball. Don't remember the origins but think it had to do with the market deals the Nats demanded or were signing when they moved from Montreal.

28 different teams have made the playoffs since 2006 - the lone exceptions being the Marlins and Mariners.

Cleveland is the better team. Dodgers aren't necessarily the better team but it's the Cubs ..

I'll remind you I predicted them to sweep the Red Sox. I also correctly called the Nats choking even before they were up 2-1. I also didn't make any prediction about Toronto vs Texas..but I did think that series would have gone longer than a Jays sweep in 3.

Ol Dirty Dastard
10-14-2016, 12:16 PM
Cleveland is a better team, but they don't have their 2 top starters. Predicting the favoured team to win a series isn't exactly going out on a limb, Droford, you giant wang.

Texas was also the better team, and they probably played one of the softest series I've ever seen any team play.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. It's going to be a fun series regardless, and I also favour Cleveland to win while obviously pulling strongly for the Jays. I just don't understand your need to repeat "Cleveland in 5" as though I don't think they have a strong chance to win. Contribute something worthy to the conversation, not just seething shit headery.

Reynolds and his crew were just as fucking bad in the game lastnight. It's like they're teaching a crash course in how to NOT call ballgames.

Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler (Jays commentators) are not very good at all, but god I'd take their stumbling and bumbling over the TBS idiots. They at least have passion for what they are doing and clearly love calling the games and it kind of shines through much of their evident incompetence.

And I think Ron Darling is decent as well, but it's hard when you have no flow with the guys you're working with.

Evil Vito
10-14-2016, 02:05 PM

That I watched as many Mets games I did between 2009-2014 when the team was in the shitter is partially a testament to how entertaining Gary, Keith, and Ron made the broadcasts. I was far more likely to skip a FOX or ESPN broadcast when the game was otherwise meaningless.

The most underrated thing about Andrew Miller... the facial hair. Remember you can grow facial hair if you're on the Yankees. It may have added to his slider. Who knows.

Evil Vito
10-15-2016, 06:47 PM
Yup. And I still feel like there's a very good chance of the Yankees bringing Chapman right on back next year. At minimum they'll surely be in the bidding war with the Cubs and probably the Giants.

I still don't think the Jays will get swept but it's tough to imagine them winning when even a slightly below league average guy like Tomlin was able to shut them down.

Who knows though, maybe they'll get some home cooking in Rogers.

Jays era as a team for the two games in Cleveland was 2.00... and still managed to leave without a win. That's what happens when you put the 2 best run prevention teams against one another. Obviously Tomlin was great along with Miller.... but Biagini pitched magnificently as well in his 2 innings of work.

Anyone who second guesses Roberts for the moves he makes, is just retarded. He made all the right moves. The seconds strike, Blanton throw a beach ball over the plate that Montero just plain missed on a HR hack. Next pitch. Same pitch thrown by Blanton. Montero didnt miss that one. Thats all on Blanton.

RP
10-16-2016, 12:36 AM
You cant throw a shit slider and then come back with a shit slider and expect Montero not to put the 2nd one in the stands like that. Just a bum pitching effort from Blanton.

Lose lose for Roberts. If he goes to a lefty, Maddon pulls back Montero and up comes Contreas. Jensen isn't ready after a long outing. Maybe he should've brought in one of his late inning relievers. But Blanton had a 158 ERA+. He's been great. The Cubs just won that matchup is all.

Agreed. However, the last 80 innings plus last year were as a reliever. Granted it works for him now that he's limited to facing 3 batters a night, but as a reliever, he's been stellar. And that's the context they were using him in.
