The Wolverine is NOT a prequel, actually taking place after The Last Stand, with Logan dealing with Jean Grey's death and the X-Men apparently disbanding. Dealing with immortality seems to be the director's go-to theme. Even with this info, it seems there will be flashbacks in the movie since we know there were WWII sets, and then there's this:

In a surprise move, X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has elected not to helm the upcoming sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Deadline is reporting that, among those being considered to replace him, is X-Men and X2's Bryan Singer, who also produced Vaughn's 2011 film.

Ugh. Not liking a lot of the new Marvel Now stuff. All New X-men and Uncanny Avengers showed promise, but got really stupid by the end.

Fantastic Four was only decent. Dislike the art. Future Foundation was better.

Iron Man and Red She Hulk are good. Enough to keep me interested.

Thor and Wolverine And the X-men both continue to be excellent. Reavant, if you're looking for comedy, Wolverine and the X-men is the way to go. Issue 19 in particular had me laughing out loud.

Everything else sucks.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel, but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

... as opposed to being painted as the sick fuck he was from jump and tracking down James and Rose all those years later at the quarry.

And aside from all the nitpicky stuff it explained about James' mannerisms and speech habits, it explained and backed up one major point... HIS HEALING FACTOR AFFECTS HIS MIND AS WELL AS HIS BODY!

Wow that Ebay auction is fucking insane. I've never understood those earlier issues that come in those weird plastic covers. Are they actually genuine originals from the 60's, that are being "preserved" or something, or are they all fancy reprints made to look like the originals.

Personally, I'd have imagine that entire collection being worth more than $22,500, especially if they're all real, genuine, original prints.

Apparently the director of GoG is copping heat for posting some "Top xx lady superheroes you'd want to bang" list a while ago, which has since been deleted but not un-Google cached. One of the suggestions was to boycott the film, which is a bit of an overreaction if ever I've seen one. Sure, send the director hate mail or whatever, but really, to boycott an entire film and jeopardise the jobs of everyone involved is a bit much for a moment of lacking foresight.

Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed Kevin Feige’s prediction that Iron Man 3 will be, with the exception of the title character, an Avengers-free zone. Jackson told Total Film magazine, “I think my next time as Nick Fury is in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, because I’m not in Iron Man 3. None of the Avengers are in Iron Man 3. It’s a standalone Iron Man movie.”

Since Jackson isn’t playing Nick Fury in Thor: The Dark World, this means that audiences will have to wait until the Captain America sequel unspools in April of 2014. Of course there is always the possibility that Jackson will appear in some form or another in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, though so far there has been no announcement of how Joss Whedon and the other writers working on the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot are going to deal with the character of Nick Fury.

I, on the other hand, like the idea of no cameos.

Cameos are cool, and usually not neccessary... the problem with the Marvel Movieverse is the fact that they have made the fans expect it so much that it's dissappointing when there isn't one. Same thing with the P.S. in the credits. If there isn't one, there is frenzy and outrage.

Lock Jaw
11-29-2012, 09:13 PM

You cannot definitively state that it creates disappointment, frenzy, and outrage until it actually happens once.

The thing is, they built up this 'movie universe' and now the thought of them wasting a chance of a 30 second nudge after their biggest movie ever seems rather wasteful.

Kalyx triaD
11-29-2012, 09:23 PM
I can, however, imagine the first MCU movie to not have a post credits scene will be looked at cross eyed. Cameos could be placed there (and really, I'm betting even IM3 will have a post credits cameo - they have a new cosmic arc to build). Even without a face showing up, there should be a lot of dialogue related to the Avengers event. It will be mentioned in all Phase 2 movies, trust me. Can't ignore it.

I don't mind the actual movie not having other characters, anymore than an issue of Batman that makes no reference to Superman or Green Lantern. They team up and then go back to their own lives, that's how it's been. Movie fans will have to square with that.

I wasn't saying there was going to be rioting in the streets and people burning theatres down and such. But it has happened.

Some theatres had somehow not run the post credit for Thor. That at least was an accident, but had folks in a WTF tizzy. First Class didn't have shit. Lots of pissy, angry people around me in the theatre for that one.

And every movie had some sort of cameo. Even given the time frame of Capt. America where it would make little sense to put in almost anyone else as they weren't even born yet (save Wolverine presumably roaming the Canadian wilderness somewhere), they still managed to squeeze in the original Human Torch costume.

Again, to establish it as an "every time" thing, then not make with it once, is a set up for dissappointment and borderline trolling.

As long as they don't resort to Mortal Kombat II levels of shoehorning, a cameo here and there would be fine. It doesn't even have to be ANY of the Avengers or X-Men or family members of the Fantastic variety. Honestly, I'd mark the fuck out if they threw in Alpha Flight for a few seconds somewhere.

They completely lost deadpools character. hes just silly for the sake of being silly where as before there was a reason and usually a reason for it that when shown at the end looked genius. It always left you wondering if he meant to have the outcome he did or if it was accident. This new series has him hacking and slashing dead presidents and throwing out stupid jokes.

New Deadpool is cool, a step up from most of Way's stuff... plus the art is great. I love the mix of silly and violence. I actually think he was a bit incompetent during Way's run and did things randomly for the LOL'S while trying to be something. This feels like it takes it self less serious so the silly factor works here and I like that it's just a random side story.

However Joe Kelly, Fabian Nicieza and Remender are the top Deadpool writers as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, the first few issues didn't really doo much for me, but once the "Phoenix Five" show up, it gets really good.

I would have liked Cyclops to remain a villain after this, but he's already leading an x-men team in marvel now!. Granted, he's still a dick, but he's not what he could be.

Wish marvel would commit when they turn a hero. Scarlet Witch could have been great as a villain.

I actually liked Wanda taking Carol's offer to visit the Avengers Mansion only to get the official ban hammer from Vision. Like, "Bitch Disassembled and House of M was not that long ago, GTFO." Seemed kinda harsh but... No More Mutants. For fuck sake you can kinda blame Wanda for everything thus far, so I like that she got it hard on her first day back.

Cyclops could have been the new Magneto, but I guess he still sells merch as a good guy and it would have been to drastic a change for the kiddies (oh but let's outright kill him in a fucking movie).

Cap owns Gambit in like two panels.

That actually bothered me. In the last Avengers issue after Disassembled, Carol had the most hatred for Wanda. In fact her whole redemption has been handled extremely poorly with little to no attention paid to how other people are writing it. In Children's Crusade, Rogue sticks up for Wanda, but in the new Uncanny Avengers book, she holds deep resentment towards Wanda.

It's just like, is anyone paying any attention at all? Her return to the Avengers is just a big mess. She should have remained a crazy reality altering mega threat on the scale of Thanos, and Surtur.

The more I think about it the more optimistic I am about this series. It doesn't feel like it will just be killing people for shock or a house cleaning effort. And after reading the messages from Dennis Hopeless in the letter column it sounds like he knows the proper way to handle this series. He respects the characters and isn't just throwing them in the meat grinder.

I'm going to stay on for the first arc at least.

Jamie Foxx has revealed that Elektro will begin as a partner of sorts to Spider-Man, which would be the first time that character gets respect, until something happens that initiates his turn to villainy.

He also reveals that the costume will be black (I'm thinking otherwise darker than the classic 616 attire). This is in line with the Ultimate version of the character, of which this reboot adheres close to begin with.

Foxx's Django co-star, Sam motherfucking Jackson also reveals that of course Nick Fury will have a larger role in the likely SHIELD heavy Captain America sequel.

Yeah. And for me it puts an alternate spin to Logan meeting Charles in X1. Watching it after First Class, and this may be due to Stewart's epically nuanced approach, it feels like the Professor had this 'now I can finally guide you' vibe. Hard to explain. But as much as First Class walked over what was established, there's these deeper things that it strengthened for the initial trilogy. Origins had a similar though lighter effect like that.

To me, the fun of this is, for years, thanks to J. Jonah Jameson, everyone thought Spider-Man was a menace and the readers knew the whole story. The readers knew this was a good guy, this was a hero who's not getting any breaks. They were rooting for him.

Now we've flipped that. It's the Marvel Universe that doesn't have the whole story, and they think he's a hero. And it's the readers who are going, "No! No! No! No! He's a menace! I don't like him!" The readers have become J. Jonah Jameson.

Amazing Spider-Man #700 Variant Set Hits A Grand On eBay

With news outlets across the country reporting on the death of Peter Parker, comic book stores are seeing a flurry of interest in Amazing Spider-Man #700. Just like with Superman’s death twenty years ago, the speculator market is hot to pick up copies of the Peter Parker death issue.
Amazing Spider-Man #700 is already sold out at many comic book stores across the country, which means collectors are already turning to eBay. While the regular cover version of Amazing Spider-Man #700 is selling for just slightly above cover price, the variant covers are quickly escalating in price.
In fact, a collection of all eight variant covers for Amazing Spider-Man #700 recently sold on eBay for a cool grand. The most popular of all the variant covers is the Steve Ditko variant, which is limited to 1 in 200 copies. A copy of the Amazing Spider-Man #700 Ditko variant recently sold by itself on eBay for $600.

Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige has confirmed that a Doctor Strange movie will be part of Marvel’s Phase 3. Phase 2 will include Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, in 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, and culminates in The Avengers 2 in 2015. The only film in Phase 3 that has an announced debut date is Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, which is slated for November 5th, 2015 (see “Disney Slates Ant-Man Movie for Nov. 5, 2015”).

But in talking with MTV Splash Page Feige, when asked about other films in Phase 3, stated “Doctor Strange, which I have been talking about for years, is definitely one of them.” Feige claims that Doctor Strange meets the criteria that Marvel Studios has for its maturing line of films, “He’s a great original character, and he checks the box off this criteria I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is Ant-Man.”

After we get cosmic we're going mystic, eh? And Ant-Man makes me think of Vision and Ultron.

I would definitely place bets on Ultron being the villain for phase 3.

He's the penultimate avengers villain.

Who's the ultimate one, then?

(Penultimate means "next-to-last")

I nearly said that myself, but decided against it so as not to look like a dick for calling him on it.

Wish I had now.

It's other people's fault for using it the same way, and misleading me.

Damn this society of ours.

Something very badass about this. And unlike the last few movies, it seems his iconic hair style is back.

Mark Miller, manager of Fox's X-Men film franchise, confirms that Days of Future's Past will have the Sentinels. "Halt, mutant!"

My secret girlfriend Ellen Page will also get some time to shine, and rightfully so, as the story features her character prominently.

Long delayed thread for The Wolverine is up and as usual news and media will go there. I have a feeling we'll see at least the first teaser soon.

Could just be smoke, his costume is looking a bit singed after all.

Needs more villains.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

I don't think I've ever looked forward to a comic book movie less that I am looking forward to Spider Man 2.

Pretty much. Wish they would base success of movies on what people actually think as opposed to how many parents took their kids to see Spiderman.

Its unfortunate, because I do feel they did a great job casting Peter/Spidey, but everything else was a mess.

Spidey 2 has a better villain. That's it. Andrew Garfield is a better lead, Emma Stone is a better love interest. ASM also has Denis Leary. Checkmate.

The atmosphere of the raimi films captures the feel of Spider-Man far better. Also, sm2 has better fight scenes.
