2012 afc champ game is Thursday at 8:30 on NFL network
2010 wild card game is Saturday at 1pm
Week 3 game is Saturday at 8:30pm

Also a bunch of ray Lewis specals , and after the week 3 game there's a harbaugh family round table special from NFL films.

Disappointed? are you fucking kidding me? Dude your team was a laughing stock! Instead of fearing the slow but certain decline back to mediocrity, be thankful that your team reached the Pinnacle of the NFL and you were alive to witness it. You can tell your kids and their kids about the day that N'awlins won the big one.

Fucking People, ya'll win one and now you expect to be a power every year. Give me one title and I will never bitch about the Bengals EVER AGAIN. I will forever be grateful for whatever collection of players and coaches delivered such greatness to me.

But I get it you want to hang on to these glory days as long as possible.

I don't think the Saints were a "laughing stock".. Only two games all season got out of hand (Broncos, Giants) and every other game was competitive.. I feel robbed by a poor shoot first ask questions later decision by a tyrannical commissioner trying to set examples..

With one of the top 3 head coaches in the league coming back and a year for Spags to install his defense and players *cough*OSI*cough*, the saints will be a top 5 team all season next year..

okay, so I agree that the Commish fucked the city and the Saints over royally. I am very anti Goddell.

I never really gave much thought to Osi ending up in Nawlins. Interesting fit there. What is up with them DB's though? That secondary is gonna need some help.

But with all that said, even with the fact that Brees may be in the waning moments of a hall of fame and all around classy career, how can you really be upset? The Saints were absolutely a laughing stock! They invented the paperbag fans and they called themselves the Aints! I never heard a Bengals fan call the Natti the Bungles! I mean that's half of the reason that the Superbowl run was so beloved! They gave Cardinals, Bengals, and Browns fans hope!

We need to get one of them Alabama boys from the offensive line and we need to spend some FA money on offensive line. We cant put Luck through this type of season again. Too much wear on him already.

So excited for are rookies to be 2nd year players next season. Hilton, Luck, Allen, Fleener and especially Ballard. I think Ballard will be awesome next season.

I think the Giants organization as a whole believes too much in the ability of the guys they have to get it done sometimes. There has been instances of it being done but I feel like they don't reload some years like they should. The guys that have gotten it done in the past are getting older. I'm really hoping they address some of those concerns this offseason.

He just got out of the hospital like a week ago. Was interviewing with the Chargers and Bears, said he was interested in the Chargers spot now that Telesco went to the Chargers. However, he has also said it would have to be a PERFECT fit for him to leave what they've got going in Indy. Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him stay in Indy. What kind of QB-oriented coach wouldn't want to work with Luck over Rivers?

I'm pretty damn proud of my Colts. One of the best seasons ever. I think Luck might be one of the toughest SOB's in the league and i hope someone puts together a YOUtube video or something to do him justice.

Yeah, Division is ours. Colts gonna have (I'm pretty sure) the most money in the league this off-season. If people really stop and think how much less money they had to work with this year compared to other teams. When they cut those veterans they lost a HUGE chunk of cap space to play with that year. It tied up a bunch of money in old contracts and didn't leave a lot to pick up new players with other than the rookies they drafted. They only really traded picks around for some other players (Davis for instance) and picked at free agency a little.

Think they are going to make waves in free agency this year, and potentially acquiring players from other teams straight up. They could end up nabbing a big name receiver and some solid defensive players besides the o-line gaps they're going to certainly fill. Next year is going to be huge for Indy and I don't think people are ready for what's coming. Andrew Luck tasted the playoffs his rookie year after a hell of a season. I'll be shocked if he misses the playoffs even once in his career.

I don't think it's such a given that Andrew Luck is a sure star. His counting stats were very impressive but he was 31st in completion percentage and 3rd in Ints. I'm sure a lot of that is attributable to him being asked to throw so much as a rookie but I will have to see how he improves next year before I'm willing to say he's the next superstar.

Well I'm not trying to come off as sour grapes because believe me, I've thoroughly enjoyed the Giants' success these past years. But we all know the story with them, very roller coaster type seasons. And to miss the playoffs some years with the same nucleus that won them a Superbowl is kind of a bummer.

Fuck!
I'm still not sold on him after watching him with Orton and Tebow. Like NBT said most of what he did I attribute to Manning, when he has a less than stellar qb we all know what the gameplan usually is...well it's kind of like the 4th quarter from Saturday night. Short pass, run up the middle, run up the middle, punt. Rivers will be better than that, but I'm thinking/hoping the Chargers end up like Oakland after they took our DC last season.

Emperor Smeat
01-15-2013, 03:45 PM
He should do a lot better than Turner did the last 2 years and his experience with revamping offenses in a short time should help revive Rivers career unless he really is a "lost cause" as a starter. Think the bigger issue with the Chargers is actually on their defensive side considering the drop in quality compared to a few years ago.

Also have to consider McCoy helped create the good to great O line which ended up being the biggest reason why Manning went there as well as how quickly he can revamp an offense which worked out well with Tebow and Manning.

I get that, but when you look at how many times he was sacked and hit. The kid got beat up this year and handled it like a pro. (41 sacks/116 hits) And then watch how good he was at scrambling in the pocket. He dodged a good portion too. Hell, just watching him play, he made some damn good decisions, along with some rookie mistakes, some of which could certainly be attributed to other failings within the team. There were moments of brilliance this season, most notably Green Bay and Detroit.

Collie went down early season, may not come back. Fleener turned out to be a bust his rookie season. We'll see how he progresses when Luck has a good o-line and more time to throw. Reggie of course had a great season, but I wouldn't expect anything less from him, and with more support for Luck, I see Reggie's numbers going up even more. With a run game that just couldn't seem to get going consistently, it's no surprise he had to throw so often. If they strengthen the o-line and give him more people to throw to, there's no reason they can't be a perennial playoff team.

Was talk a couple weeks ago I think of Greg Jennings being a possible pickup if his talks in Green Bay go south and he goes on free agency.

After Sunday, you won't have to worry about it

That's what the media does though. The nature of the profession requires them to be prisoners of the moment. Last week, Seattle was the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Then, Kaepernick goes off against Green Bay and now San Francisco is the anointed team.

Although I do prefer the Falcons stay under the radar and be doubted by 75% of football fans. Much more fun to say "I told you so" to the masses than have the masses chanting "We were right" with you.

There's some valuable white kids like Danny Amendola and Brian Hartline. Welker too but I don't think that's happening.

Dwayne Bowe would be a good pickup. All he needs is a good QB, as he's actually done great with Cassel at the helm so he could certainly offer something. Welker would be hilarious honestly, just being a Patriot and all. Can't stand them but he is damn good and would be a perfect #2 to Reggie. Could seriously see the duo doing huge damage to teams with Luck throwing them the ball. Welker could be even better outside the Patriots as the Pats spread the ball around too much for him to shine regularly. That sounds like I'm saying he doesn't get the ball often, but I'm just saying in the context of the rest of their team. Getting older though and Colts most likely want to build for the future. Also don't think the Patriots would let Welker go. Feel like I've heard that talk before but then he plays an incredible season and I don't know why they would ever get rid of him.

Don't know much about Amendola but looks like he has had some injury problems the past couple years. Wasn't aware of who Hartline was but that's actually not a terrible prospect. Just had his first thousand yard season, and I don't know what they were really doing in Miami with him but he had hella yards and only 1 TD. Could be something the Colts could use as he seems like a ball mover.

Really need a better run game too, which I think will come naturally with a better o-line. They're really just horrible at setting up the run. Lost track of how many times runners just got completely buried for no gain. Just ruins the momentum.

That's one reason Manning has done so well in Denver his first year. They actually have a halfway decent run game and it worked for the most part.

Going back to 2009, with the exception of the ravens 33-14 win in the wild card game, the other 5 games between them have been decided by 6 points or less (27-21 loss in 09, 23-20 loss in 2010, 23-20 loss in afc champ game, 31-30 win this year) I think the ravens are 5-1 against the spread vs new England in that span. The big brother got the best of the little brother in the first meeting (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/48099/jones-brothers-take-center-stage). But this time the stakes are higher when siblings Arthur Jones (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13394/arthur-jones) of the Baltimore Ravens (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/bal/baltimore-ravens) face Chandler Jones (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14927/chandler-jones) and the New England Patriots (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/ne/new-england-patriots).

A trip to the Super Bowl is on the line for the Jones brothers in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. Baltimore beat New England, 31-30, in Week 3 of the regular season.

Arthur, 26, currently has bragging rights in the family. But the oldest brother knows it's more important to win this weekend.

Whoever advances has a golden opportunity to bring the first Super Bowl ring to the Jones family.

"Absolutely, I rubbed it in his face a little bit," Arthur said Wednesday of beating Chandler in the regular season. "But the bragging rights are not going to matter if I don't win this game. This is a lot bigger game and a lot more at stake than last game."

The good news is one of the Jones brothers will be playing in his first Super Bowl on Feb. 3. The bad news is the other Jones brother will be heartbroken after getting so close in the AFC title game.

However, the first champion among the Jones brothers has already been crowned in a different sport: mixed martial arts. Middle brother Jon Jones, 25, became the UFC light heavyweight champion in 2011 and still holds the title. Jon, when reached on a promotional tour for "The Ultimate Fighter," said this weekend is another great moment for the Jones family.

"I’m so happy for my brothers and I’m excited to see the game this weekend," Jon Jones said. "I know they both want to play in the Super Bowl, so I expect them to play the best games of their lives. I’m proud of Arthur and Chandler.

"I know it’s not easy to make it this far in the NFL, but they’ve both dedicated their lives to becoming the best football players they can be. I can’t wait to see who makes it to the Super Bowl."

HOUSTON—Following his team’s loss to the New England Patriots last weekend, Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak reportedly gathered players and staff to congratulate them on engineering yet another Houston Texans season. “I know some of you are still disappointed, but no matter what, we can hold our heads high for putting together back-to-back Texans seasons,” said Kubiak, adding that after winning 11 of their first 13 games, the team’s ability to succumb to crucial injuries, totally lose momentum, and eventually bow out of the playoffs in the divisional round made it “one of the most Houston Texans seasons in franchise history.” “Things didn’t always go our way, and plenty of people doubted us, but we came together when it counted and finished with a classic Houston Texans run down the stretch. And I’m proud of each and every one of you for that.” According to team sources, Kubiak singled out quarterback Matt Schaub in particular for having the most Matt Schaub season of the nine-year veteran’s career.

I'd like to mention that after losing last years game the way they did, I think there were a lot of Ravens fans who wanted this exact afc championship rematch, although probably wanted it in Baltimore. The only other team that's less intimidated by the Patriots is the Giants, but tom Brady plays his worst games vs the Ravens (lowest qbr vs any team) and they were the first team to win a playoff game in new England in the Tom Brady era.

I personally would love nothing more than for the ravens to lay another beat down on the pats like they did in the wild card game, but I'm resigned to the fact it will be a close game just like the Broncos game.

Denver and Miami used to be the biggest thorns against Brady until 2007. Remember it being considered a big deal once he finally managed to beat Denver both at home and on the road.

Also, fun note. Last two years the patriots lost in the playoffs to a team that beat them in the regular season (giants/jets). Considering the jets loss was one of two losses and the giants loss was one of three, pretty interesting...they lost to the Ravens and 49ers this year...
Similarly, for the ravens they got swept in 08 by the Steelers and lost to them in the afc champ game (though they did beat the #1 titans after losing to them)and they lost to the patriots last year in the regular season and arc championship. In 09 they lost to the colts in the regular season and afc divsional round. In 2011 they split with the Steelers and lost to them in the divisional round.

(01-18) 19:08 PST SAN FRANCISCO --

San Francisco police have interviewed 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree about allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in the city following the team's victory last weekend, The Chronicle has learned.

The alleged attack occurred at an unnamed hotel early on Jan. 13, hours after the team's victory over the Green Bay Packers at

The incident is being investigated by the Special Victims Unit, whose detectives have interviewed Crabtree with his lawyer present. Crabtree has agreed to make himself available for possible further interviews about an assault.

The 25-year-old player - who has not been detained or arrested - is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Herald’s Power Hitters — football beat writers and columnists —yesterday outlined all the reasons why the playoff Patriots are a different animal from the team that blew a fourth-quarter lead in September.

“Take away (Joe) Flacco’s long bombs and Pats win easy,” joro1 wrote. “I see a tight game until the 3rd and then the Pats separate and start pounding (Stevan) Ridley against a worn out D.”

One reader noted one key difference between September and now — the officiating — and said there’s no comparing the outcomes.

“Has everyone forgotten how bad the replacement refs were?” fv wrote. “Depending on the flip-a-coin calls or non-calls, that game, and any game during the first three weeks could have been a blow out by either team.”

Pats fans blaming the replacement refs for the week 3 loss and not the pats awful pass defense that allowed Joe flacco to pass for almost 400 yards..
And they can just magically stop flacco from doing it again and they'll win easy.

But this isn't about race, it's about the progression of the NFL. The league is becoming more and more offensive focused. With that much being understood, It's a logical choice to see teams hire Offensive Coordinators as Head Coaches. Now there are few, if any African American Offensive Coordinators in the NFL right now so the likelihood of seeing another 'unknown' head coaching hire be black, we're gonna wait a while. We won't see another black canidate until Kevin Sumlin is ready to leave Texas A&M

Pats fans blaming the replacement refs for the week 3 loss and not the pats awful pass defense that allowed Joe flacco to pass for almost 400 yards..
And they can just magically stop flacco from doing it again and they'll win easy.

As much as I like Ed Reed and would like to see him end his career in Baltimore, if he walks and goes to the pats, congratulations for over paying for an injury prone past his prime player. If the Ravens win the super bowl I honestly expect him to retire with ray Lewis and that would make an awesome duo to go in the hall of fame at the same time.

I also disagree with your assessment of the Ravens' future. The defense might not be as good as in years past but this years offense was the best in franchise history in just about every measurable statistic and s far as I know all the pieces will be returning. Torrey Smith will have his 3rd year wr Breakout season...

Peyton Manning is a Bronco, it's very rare that players get to retire with their original teams. The bigger question is: If Ed Reed wanted to come back, will Baltimore work to keep him? Did Ogden retire a Raven? Hmm...

Let's be honest, you singled that post out because you don't like me. There was no ignorant statement whatsoever and I was making a light hearted joke. Gertner is quite blatantly being racist but you passed his comment up to target mine because you don't like me. Which is fine, but let's just call it what it is instead of getting all self righteous on your racial high horse. My joke was that Mike Tomlin is such a good coach that he should count as 3 coaches. I'm fairly certain that isn't offensive if the person reading it isn't mentally inept.

Ogden played his entire 11 year career with the Ravens. I think that the Ravens will do everything within their power to bring ed reed back if he wants to come back, which is a debatable question on its own...but there would be a dollar figure at some point where they'd probably be realistic and tell him if he can get it somewhere else to go and take it. The bigger question would be whether there is a team that would overpay for him considering he's past his prime and playing injured..I doubt it.

LOL yeah, Nothing like trashing your player only to have them rip off some game changing plays.

Ozzie Newsome seems like he runs the player personnel department with a real 'old school' approach. I think if Reed wants to do the damn thing next year they will sit down and figure out a way to make it work. Of all the teams, they seem to want their heroes to retire in purple and black. Ogden, Ray Ray, and Reed all seem like they're gonna retire as ravens.

<font color=goldenrod>I think the Bengals will finally be making a big step forward next season and I'm also fully expecting the Steelers to make a return to SB contending form. I see the Ravens toiling about as a 3rd place team.

This is their chance to win it all and strike while the iron's hot. But it's difficult to imagine Brady and Belichick losing to the same team twice in a season for the second straight year...ESPECIALLY with the game being in New England. That wasn't funny at all... and I'm not just saying that as a Falcons fan. I don't know why a fan of a team that's not even in the playoffs would go through all the trouble to make a corny ass parody video about the 13-3 #1 seed.

At this point, the Saints aren't even on the radar. It's kind of sad and pathetic. Don't worry, you'll get your coach back next year and I'm sure that will somehow transform your notoriously shitty defense into the 2001 Ravens D and an older Drew Brees will lead you to a dynasty that lasts for one thousand suns blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
