Pats offense was basically flat for most of the game but  at the last 4-5 minutes of the game. Cards almost gave it away before Gostkowski shanked the potential game winner.

Bucs suck anytime they have a huge lead since they almost always give it right back. Think they had a few games like that last season.

How the fuck did the Ravens lose that after all those Eagles turnovers? The only way the Ravens are ever getting back to the Super Bowl is if they get all their play off games at home. Unconvincing on the road, same old.

So refreshing seeing the Patriots lose one at home to an average team. Not just that but to the Cardinals who are terrible on the road, especially on the east coast. Great stuff. :D

Jets/Steelers pretty good at the moment. Not too hopeful for the 2nd half though without Revis, Keller and now probably Greene. :-\

Goddamn what a shit performance. I may be on the way to calling for Jason Garrett's head.

I've been there. When you were part of the problem with the old coaching staff, I don't understand how you can expect different results. With him being promoted, he has less of a grace period and if they don't pull their head out of their ass soon then Jerry should clean fucking house and just start over from scratch with a new coaching staff. The only worry I have is that Jerry Jones won't hire a head coach with a set of testicles who will tell him to sit in the fucking skybox and let him worry about the football.

I've been there. When you were part of the problem with the old coaching staff, I don't understand how you can expect different results.

He was fine as offensive coordinator. And he made the group of scrubs led by Jon Kitna who were playing like absolute shit to actually be respectable during the second half of the 2010 season which made me think he had something in him that would work out. Then last season I just kinda attributed to learning the ropes as a coach. Today seemed like the entire team got content after last week and forgot there was a season still to play. Can't really excuse that anymore.

Eli Manning's 510 yards yesterday tied for the 8th highest single-game total of all time. More than half of his yards came in the final 7 minutes of the game.

As much as I love baseball, I don't think there's any better feeling in sports than a Giants come from behind victory. Single handedly prevents me from having a case of the Mondays at work.

He's been slowly getting phased out once Hernandez started producing last year and then this year when Elderman was given the priority (before he was mostly Welker's backup spot). Welker also got "exposed" once Moss left since teams just focused on him knowing he gets the priority passes from Brady before the formation shift last year.

The main formation now is a base-2 TE set instead of the 3-4 WR set like in the past.

For fantasy purposes, I'd consider taking Elderman by Week 4 if he gets more passes again instead of Welker against Baltimore.

Half of his yards and TDs occurred in the first 5 games of the season. Gronk and Hernandez didn't really become a huge force in the Pats offense until after that point. Even in the playoffs his stats were lower than Gronk and Hernandez who became the preferred targets.

He was mostly "exposed" in terms of not being a deep-threat candidate after Moss left nor as someone who could create fear with the defense which is something the Pats desperately needed before Gronk and Hernandez arrived.

Now that Hernadez is hurt, either Welker is going to benefit or Elderman is going to get most of the priority from Brady like against the Cards in terms of the WR core.

He was never really considered a deep threat. Capable of breaking one here and there but not a "deep threat". And he was still putting up numbers better than most starting receivers in the league after those first 5 games. Edelman hasn't really shown that he's on Welker's level yet and what happened when Welker was forced into the lineup more yesterday after Hernandez' injury? All of a sudden he started catching balls and moving the ball down the field at will. He's the best and most consistent WR on the team.

I have Matt Bryant and was down by 9 coming in with him having no one else. A tie would go to him based on bench points. He's got 10 points and all I've been thinking is "Please don't let Denver score a TD and leave Atlanta with little time left so they have to try a long field goal and miss it."

I was hoping that might be a media statement game for the Falcons, but the refs and Peyton are the talking points. Guess it doesn't matter much so early in the season, but the Falcons look fucking great right now.

Only thing I'm super worried about schedule-wise is that the Falcons rotate away and home all year. Would prefer a stretch of home games somewhere.

Something I thought about doing last season and I finally started for this season...

I'm doing a weekly "Power Poll" based on the strength of who teams have beaten and lost to. Basically, I started each team out ranked 1-32 based on their records from last season. From then on, points are awarded based on the outcome of each teams game.

For example, if a team beats the current lowest ranked team in the league, they get 1 point. If they beat the highest ranked team in the league, they get 32 points and so on. However, if they lose to the lowest ranked team in the league they lose 32 points. Losing to the highest ranked team in the league only loses you 1 point and so on. That way points are rewarded specifically on who you've beaten and how good they were when you beat them.

Seems like a somewhat precise way to make a power poll based less on personal opinion. It may take a few weeks of teams shifting for position but after that, especially if I carry it over into next season, it should start getting pretty precise. Anyway, here's the pre-season rankings. (Tied records revert to point differential)

According to ESPN and their stats machine, the replacement refs are almost calling the same number of penalties and booth reviews as the normal refs although its very skewed.

Whatever gets complained the most in a week ends up being the penalties that get called the most the next week. Expect a lot of roughing the passer and unsportsmanlike calls this week since the NFL is telling the refs to call those more now.

Biggest difference is the amount of debate when it comes to calls by the refs since they take longer than the normal refs to agree on a call.

Nope. One of those games was against Brandon Weeden.

In response to your rhetorical question, I would choose option 5. Read Droford use meaningless stats to try to convince himself and anyone who will listen that the Ravens have the upcoming game locked up because he doesn't have enough confidence in his team to actually win so that he can brag after the game and therefore needs to try to scramble to find a way to brag before the game as if they've already won.
