Congrats Cubs fans on breaking the Pennant curse.
MLB has to be really happy since they get a redo on missing out on Cubs-Sox in 2003 for World Series mega hype because of curses/droughts. Would have been even bigger for hype had Lebron not broken the Cleveland sports curse already.
Some Cubs are naked atm running on the field. Cut the cameras!

3/5 because you were wrong about the Os. That brings you from 75% to 60%, quite mediocre actually.

I'm still thinking that the extended layoff is going to hurt the Indians a bit. I know that the pitching was knackered and could benefit from the break, particularly Andrew Miller. But starting pitchers are creatures of habit and I've just seen teams struggle after a long break a lot in the past decade. More importantly, the Cubs' bats have started to heat up and they haven't had a long break to cool back down - so if Cleveland's arms do have any rust they could be in trouble. Cleveland's bats were already pretty cold to begin with and now they'll have to try and win a series in which the buzzsaw Lester could probably start 3 games if necessary, not to mention they'll be able to throw Hendricks twice.
My gut says that they split in Cleveland and then Chicago takes care of business at home. Here's hoping Wrigley will still be in good shape after that all-night celebration is finished. Cubs in 5.

I think long layoffs in the postseason are deff real. It's all timing in rhythm in baseball, or any sport really. A few days, maybe 3, is fine. After that I think you're pushing it with guys not getting game action.
I'm not worried about the layoff. It would be amazing if Schwarber comes in as DH. It's a great move. I'm clearly for the Cubs, but what a story book season man. Seriously. Cleveland vs Cubs. I hope when this ends, both teams meet at the mound and hug this out. This is special guys. Two fan bases who have no hope and here they are fighting eachother. This is so special. I'm besides myself.

10-24-2016, 10:25 PM
The exact nature of Sianis' curse differs in various accounts of the incident. Some state that he declared that no World Series games would ever again be played at Wrigley Field, while others believe that his ban was on the Cubs appearing in the World Series, making no mention of a specific venue. Sianis’ family claims that he dispatched a telegram to team owner Philip K. Wrigley which read, “You are going to lose this World Series and you are never going to win another World Series again. You are never going to win a World Series again because you insulted my goat."
THE CURSE ISN'T DEAD!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! SAVE YOURSELVES!!!
Emperor Smeat

Weirdest part of the curse is people thinking eating goats or putting goat heads on statues somehow would break it.
If the curse is based on someone insulting a goat, killing goats seems really counter-productive. Maybe even added more time to it which is why Back to the Future II's prediction ended up being a big fat phony.

After all this talk of layoffs especially in relation to hitting, would you add Kyle Schwarber to your WS roster?
Nope. Sure there's a chance he runs into something and gets lucky right off the bat, but with Heyward struggling I could see the logic behind it. Schwarber gets hot, Cubs look like a genius, Schwarber does nothing, they don't lose much as Heyward wasn't doing much to begin with....
That being said, you do lose a bullpen arm, but with the DH spot, another bat of the bench could prove more useful, especially when their starters are so good.

Correct. Cubs have a much better rotation even with Arrieta at 75%. Lose this game and you're down 1-0 looking to Trevor Bauer and Josh Tomlin to stop the bleeding. While both of those guys have certain positives going for them, that's not something to hang your hat on.

MLB announced they are going to review the Indians logo during this offseason due to growing complaints.
One reason is due to the club being split on keeping or dropping Chief Wahoo as a club logo. Management's been trying to push for "C" to be the only logo used but deferred to the players who voted for Chief Wahoo to be used during this playoffs.

Does the name itself even have any real negative associations?
At least in the Redskins case, the name itself used to be a slur against Native Americans. With the Indians, its usually their mascot getting the brunt of complaints because of it being seen as a negative stereotype.
Believe most of the complaints against the Braves is more due to the Tomahawk chop and chant their fans like to do than the name itself.

I hate how even in the regular season pitching performances are all or nothing. If they give up more than 2 runs by the end of the 6th inning, they get yanked. You barely ever see a guy pitch 8 innings and give up 4 runs or 3 runs in 7 innings. I guess it has everything to do with the 100 pitch limit, but i feel like it's some kind of pussification of starting pitchers.

Booze and cocaine being blamed as the cause behind Jose Fernandez's death last month.
Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez had cocaine in his system and was legally drunk when he was killed in a boating accident last month, according to autopsy and toxicology reports obtained Saturday by multiple media outlets.
A toxicology report from the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's Department, which was published Saturday by the Miami Herald, showed that cocaine and multiple other substances were detected in Fernandez's blood.
Fernandez, 24, had a blood alcohol content of .147, nearly twice the legal limit, when he was killed Sept. 25.

Frank Drebin

Chapman, Strop and Monty are trustworthy at this time. Rondon usually is but isn't now. Grimm had gone up and down but is up right now. Travis wood would be a situational lefty right now. Overall good. They made their big trades this year to strengthen the pen since that was their biggest weakness early in the year.
