What exactly happened with Donnelly, he struck out Guillen and then Guillen tried to charge the mound. Did Donnelly say something or something?

Also, A-Rod is tearing the cover off the ball thus far. Still a fag though

Guillen made a comment to Donnelly after an at-bat about how he got caught using pine tar last year. Next at-bat, Donelly struck Guillen out, then he made a gesture pretending to put pine tar on his hands, it was pretty ROFL. Guillen got wicked pissed and the benches cleared.

I know Donnelly isn't the most liked player in baseball, and I'm not trying to justify his getting caught using pine tar, but Jose Guillen has heat with other people (Pedro Martinez, Mike Scioscia), and seems to be a little bitch.

I love going to games in April and May just because of the heat factor. Or night games in the summer. I remember I went to a Yankee afternoon game in August once and sat in the upper deck and by the 2nd inning I was done.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 11:38 AM
I just think its funny that people are basically admitting they really aren't that big of fans yet they are still complaining

Evil Vito
04-12-2007, 11:46 AM
Yeah those August day games can get beyond brutal.

Bad memories of a game vs. the Nationals in '05. Sitting out there sweating my ass off watching Kris Benson give up 6 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Luckily I stayed cause I got to see Mike Jacobs hit a HR in his first at-bat.

BCWWF
04-12-2007, 12:59 PM
It's not that bad of an argument. When you play the biggest drawing away team in one series all year, it would be preferred to play them in the summer when school is out and attendance is higher.

It is probably hard to understand for Boston fans when you have a smaller stadium and it sells out every game, but there is no chance for a team like the Twins to sell out a 50,000+ seat stadium on weekdays before summer breaks start.

It is just something that gets pointed out in the newspapers because obviously when this happens the teams lose a lot of potential money.

SO JUST SAYING.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 01:36 PM
The funny thing is Twins wouldn't even sell out Fenway, last few years they have only averaged like 25,000-28,000 (just did a big project on their new stadium)

I can see the arguement for day games, but other then that I don't see anything to complain about it. They maybe they go there early because they know the weather isn't going to be a factor like in a lot of places.

Supreme Olajuwon
04-12-2007, 01:56 PM
That's a terrible argument. The playoffs are during the school year too.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 02:14 PM
BTW BCWWF I hope you like the sales tax increase to pay for your new Twins stadium haha

BCWWF
04-12-2007, 05:12 PM
A weekday series in the second week of the season is never going to draw as well as it would in July. It is rediculous to even deny that. There are maybe three or four teams that can maintain attendance all season. Sorry, that isn't the Twins, who play in one of the biggest stadiums in the league that also happens to be one of the worst to watch a baseball game. Anyway, here is the quote.

This is the second year in a row that the Major League Baseball officials who make out the schedule have brought the Yankees for their only visit to the Metrodome in April, costing the Twins capacity crowds that would have attended the games in June or July, compared with crowds of fewer than 30,000 for each of the three games this week.

The columnist who mentions it every year is known for his whining about shit like this, but there is some relevance to it.

For the stadium, I would rather pay a sales tax and have a baseball team than have them move to Las Vegas or Portland in 2010. Also, the stadium is going to completely change the character of western Minneapolis. It is going to include a new public transit hub and is going to connect what was once a dodgy area to the area where all of the nightlife is.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 05:20 PM
Yeah I was just joking around, the stadium is going to be really nice. The architect is HOK based out of Kansas City, they've done all the new really nice stadiums recently (Baltimore, Pittsburgh [baseball and football], and they are working on the new Yankee Stadium)

One thing though, they aren't including the a retractable roof since it would cost an extra 100 million. I dunno I can't see too many fans attending games in early April in Minnesota, but I guess they already don't so maybe it is a good move after all.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 05:23 PM

Supreme Olajuwon
04-12-2007, 05:42 PM
What exactly are Twins fans bitching about? Last year the series against the Yankees was a Friday, Saturday, Sunday deal. 2005 it was a Friday, Saturday, Sunday series in June. 2004 it was in August. I'm sorry but talk about looking for any reason to bitch about something.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 05:44 PM
Here's an idea; Get people interested in going to Twins games and sell tickets to them.

BCWWF
04-12-2007, 10:52 PM
I don't know why you keep talking about the Twins not having any fans. They averaged 28,210 fans per game last season while playing in one of the worst venues in Major League Baseball for watching a game. That is hardly low attendance for this team.

For comparison sake, the Reds averaged 26,351 fans in a brand new stadium. And they were in contention for the majority of the season.

I'm not complaining, I could hardly give a shit when the Twins play the Yankees. It was mentioned by a columnist in the newspaper though and, even though Supreme is completely befuddled, I am sure any team in Major League Baseball would prefer to play the Yankees in July instead of April, from a monetary standpoint.

As for the retractable roof comment, there is some merit to it but I prefer not having one. The concern is much more to do with rain than snow though. It is extremely rare for it to be snowing in April or October. The main reason they wanted to put it on is so people outstate don't come all the way to a game only to have it be rained out. But that said, all of the cool stadiums are open. I think having a roof takes away from the atmosphere a lot. Can you imagine if there was a retractable roof over Wrigley? The weather isn't that much different in Minneapolis and Chicago.

Halladay pitched 10 innings for the victory tonight against Detroit. That's great. Here's the thing though. Rodney had to infield balls, one a bunt I believe it said hit to him, neither of them did he field clean, nor did he get an out. So Toronto got a sac fly in the 10th to win the game. 2-1. Bonderman pitched 9 complete innings and wanted to go back out for the 10th.

Dragon
04-15-2007, 08:37 PM
Yeah, definitely can't say I was expecting that. Pretty tough loss today after battling back and everything.

Tuesday should be interesting. We have Chase Wright pitching for us. He has only pitched two games above A ball level - two starts in AA. He didn't allow a run in either start but still gonna be a big jump. I'm guessing the reason he is being used is because he is on the 40-man roster while a couple of the other expected minor leaguers are not.

Pettitte has been everything we needed from him so far which is good. This week though we go up against some potent offenses in Cleveland and Boston so hopefully our starting pitchers can hold up and not kill the pen even more. A stat they were talking about is the starting pitching has pitched 78.2 innings and the pen has pitched 78; pretty ridiculous.

I think it also helps having one of the best hitters in the game hitting behined you. They pitch to Ortiz because Many is on deck and they try to pitch around Many, although now they try and pitch around both.

If I recall correctly, he was out of baseball playing back home and Manny went to the Red Sox and said "you need to sign this guy".
