Tom Glavine is not an ace, not a chance.

I don't care if he only has 5 wins left, the way he's pitching he won't make it to 300 this year. He's been stuck at 295 for at LEAST a month and he's been god-awful the last two times out. 4.67 ERA. Pathetic

LOL Derrick Lee was trying to kill that Padres pitcher today.

Zambrano was so fucking brilliant. I'm so pissed the Cubs couldnt manufacture atleast a run for this guy. That bare hander that came back to the mound that he snagged and through a guy out on was gross.

As soon as I trade Zambrano he's lights out.

RP
06-16-2007, 05:35 PM
He's flat out nasty right now. The second time he's almost had a no hitter in i think like 3 or 4 games. Makes me sick that the Cubs and that new " amazing batting lineup " couldnt give the man 2 runs.

Yeah I read that career wise Carlos Z has his best pitching performances in June, but I say he keeps it up as its a contract year for him.

I think David Wright and Ryan Howard are going to be a major superstars eventually

mrslackalack

Yeah Lee it seemed wanted to kill Chris Young today. Young is one of the most underated and underapreciated pitchers in my opinion.

If Zito got a 100 million dollar contract, what the hell could Zambrano possibly get? Surely more then Zito.

Well when Hero said the Baltimore Orioles were dead in his team anaylsis a page or two back, he's on point.

O's Manager Sam Perlozzo fired. Supposedly, they are looking at Joe Girardi for the job. Here's the scoop.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2907704

Also, the New York Yankees made history/a first today. They signed a Left handed pitcher and a Catcher from China to minor league contracts. Should be pretty interesting in the future.

mrslackalack

ClockShot
06-19-2007, 11:04 PM
Agreed Dragon. I did hear we were prepared to go shopping pretty soon. Either before or after the all star game. Word going around is for a 1B and a Relief Pitcher.

Doug Mientkiewicz should be back pretty soon and Giambi is up in the air. Cairo seems to be pulling his weight and we just called up Andy Phillips and sent out Josh Phelps. So we should be set for the year there.

Relief wise. I don't know. We seem to be solid right now. I guess one more guy couldn't hurt.

But I think we should be looking at 1 more starter. With Karstens, Rasner, and Hughes out for a good while (I dare not mention Carl Pavano), that 5th guy has been interchangeable. Clippard has his good days and bad days. The last thing we need is DeSalvo back. I would maybe suggest bring Kei Igawa back for another run.

Dragon
06-19-2007, 11:10 PM
Pretty sure Igawa is starting on Friday. Clippard was sent down the other day.

hmmm 1b bullpen. Think the Yankees next month might try to get Gagne AND Tex from the Rangers?

It depends on who they ask for. If this deal has to have Phillip Hughes in it then no deal. I want to keep Phillip. Now if they want Clippard among other that could take a little thought. I might consider that. But seeing that Gagne is very DL prone I have a bad feeling about it.

And Hillenbrand that guy may and I do mean may be a help on the playing field. But he's gonna be a poison in the Yankee clubhouse. I want nothing to do with Shea based on what I saw from him in Toronto. And I was told he said that the Red Sox manager was a Fag on a radio station when he was with the Red Sox. Thanks but no thanks to Shea. We're better off with Andy or Cairo.

Coming into this Colorado series all the hype was about all the high scoring games that will happen. The Yankees have done absolutely nothing on offense, and the Rockies are at the high point with 6 runs.

And I was told he said that the Red Sox manager was a Fag on a radio station when he was with the Red Sox. Thanks but no thanks to Shea. We're better off with Andy or Cairo.lol that was great, but it was actually Theo Epstein he called a faggot, the Red Sox GM. It was right after he was traded and he was doing real well, so he called into WEEI (the biggest sportstalk radio station in Boston) and said "Trade me now Faggot"

Dragon
06-20-2007, 11:19 PM
Fox Sports insider said that the Yankees would prolly consider a 2 for 1 deal getting Tex and Gagne for Hughes

I don't know how I feel about that. I am obviously over-valuing Hughes a lot I guess but I wouldn't do that. It probably seems really biased and stuff but I dunno. Gagne would be here for half a year, and Texeira would be here a year and a half unless they work out some monster contract for him. I'm sure he wants to test free agency though.

The Yankees rotation is the problem in the future and even though Hughes is still a prospect I'd rather see him here than Teixera for a year and a half. As the rotation stands right now, the Yankees have Wang and Hughes here for 2009 and thats it. (Not counting any other prospects that will probably come up).

Jesus Shuttlesworth
06-20-2007, 11:21 PM
Yeah, trading Hughes would be pretty tough. I mean the Yankees problem isn't offense, but I suppose Gagne could help - I'm not totally sure how well Gagne has been this year tho. I know he started off on the DL...has he come back strong or something? If he has just been average then I would def be against that deal if I was a Yankees fan

mrslackalack
06-20-2007, 11:28 PM
Hughes has LOTS of potential, that would be like asking the Phillies to trade Cole Hamels.

mrslackalack
06-20-2007, 11:29 PM
Could you imagine the Yankees if they had both Mariano and Gagne in their primes?

Dragon
06-20-2007, 11:32 PM
Yeah, trading Hughes would be pretty tough. I mean the Yankees problem isn't offense, but I suppose Gagne could help - I'm not totally sure how well Gagne has been this year tho. I know he started off on the DL...has he come back strong or something? If he has just been average then I would def be against that deal if I was a Yankees fan

I think Gagne has been pretty good since coming off the DL. But the risk seems to always be there with him. Especially when he would be here half a year. Hughes has gotten a lot of Yankees fans excited, and if Cashman does this deal I have the feeling he would just get blasted by fans and the media. Especially when there is uncertainty about both; if Gagne can stay healthy and if Texiera would even sign a contract before testing free agency.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
06-20-2007, 11:35 PM
Yeah but at the same time does Cashman have time to wait around?

I feel like if the Yankees end up not making the playoffs he will be the one getting the axe, not Torre

Dragon
06-20-2007, 11:44 PM
He already took a step back for this year by trading Sheffied, etc...so he has a plan in mind. Hopefully he doesn't trade Hughes for Teixera. Who really is a quick fix for the moment unless he is positive he could get a contract extension done with him.

If the Yankees don't make the playoffs, Torre won't be back. And if they do he probably will ( no matter how far they get into it). Cashman is kind of in a tough spot, because he's expected to win now and to build for the future. It will be pretty rough if he gets fired after what he's done for the farm lately.

Dragon
06-20-2007, 11:46 PM
Not saying Cashman is a genious or anything but he did great things for the future so far. He should have planned some stuff better for this season though. Planning to rely on Pavano, the bench and bullpen could have been done a little better.

06-20-2007, 11:48 PM

lol yeah, Schilling's injury is a little suspect. At least it seems to be with the way it's being reported.
Well just read he recieved a cortisone shot in his shoulder, and they knew he wouldn't be able to make his next start so they just put him on the DL instead of having to make other roster moves.

No idea. Basically I wanna worry about that in the offseason. Remember we were 13 1/2 games back from Boston 3 weeks ago. I really think we could start playing better and get to the playoffs.

MVP
06-21-2007, 04:22 PM
Lester may be called up to fill Schilling's spot in the rotation. I'm guessing Gabbard is the other choice.

Dragon
06-21-2007, 04:33 PM
Damon really should be put on the DL. He can't hit, field or run right now. He seems to be proud of the fact that he's never gone on the DL but he is really playing awful and the injuries keep piling up. Just this year he's had calf, back abdominal muscles and rib cage problems.

One more thing. If there was any question as to whether or not Miguel Tejada is a selfish dickhead, here's your answer. To extend his consecutive games played streak, he started the game in the #2 spot, bunted into a fielder's choice out in the 1st inning, and was removed for a pinch-runner. Wow, what an iron man. Reminds me of another selfish Orioles shortstop

Dragon

BCWWF
06-21-2007, 06:00 PM

Dragon
06-21-2007, 06:03 PM
This is not what I expected going into the Rockies series. The team has been so streaky. Win 9 games in a row and now close to being swept.

The Miz
06-21-2007, 06:18 PM
A game has to be 5 innings to be official but a player only has to play in a half-inning to get credit for a game played. Ripken pinch-hit in the 9th inning all the time to keep his streak alive.

Yeah, I guess it was pretty minor. We'll get them in San Fran. But to be on the safe side I am praying to god that during that time we don't have anything to do with Barry Zito. I don't really want the Yankees to face him and then him OWN them. Like many pitchers have done. Well, tonight is Kei's second chance to prove himself that he should be on the Yankees. He hadn't proved himself last time. So let's just say he was as good as they say he was in the minors.

And Cashman I pray to you do not I repeat, DO NOT trade for Shea. We just brought up Andy Phillips from the minors to play first. It would be a waste to get Shea and sent Andy back to the minors.

06-22-2007, 04:16 PM
Yeah, we really didn't have a choice at the time. Sheffield wasn't gonna play 1B and couldn't play anywhere else.

I'm a little suspect on Sanchez though. He seemed to always be injured with Detroit and now has problems this year. Hopefully he can bounce back next year with no problems.

Dragon
06-22-2007, 04:18 PM

Incredible ovation for Griffey by the Seattle fans

mrslackalack
06-22-2007, 10:07 PM
Theres been talks of Griffey being traded, but I see Dunn going before Griffey as hes a HUGE draw for ticket sales. I know Dunns younger and we could get the most out of Griff right now, but Id rather see Dunn go. Griffey said he would only go to 3 places Cubs, Braves, and Red Sox and the Cubs plan to use the money they have to resign Zambrano, the Red Soxs OF is looking pretty good lately as Coco Crisp has stepped it up, so the only logical place I can see Griffey at if hes traded is the Braves, which is why I think Dunn goes instead of Griffey.

OssMan

Nationals fans are prob the worst fans ever, they come to the game in the 3rd inning and kick you out of the seat that you thought was empty because no one had sat in it an hour after first pitch. Then they do the same thing in the 4th inning, and then leave in the 8th even though it's still a save situation.

Yup. And the 5th inning curse strikes again. Poor Kei Igawa. I watched the first three innings, went to bed, turned on sportscenter in the morning when I got up, and I found out he got rocked in the 5th and pulled out.

He had a good start of the game. But that 5th inning.......

Oh well. Today. In Wang we trust.

The Yankees are wasting too much time keeping Damon off the DL. He is literally falling apart. Pretty sure every single thing is wrong with him and he's been regulated to a pinch hitter. He should have been on the DL months ago.

It obviously isn't easy losing Giambi and Damon's production when their healthy, but Damon obviously isn't.

Solid lineup for the Yankees today though - Cabrera, Cairo, Jeter, A-Rod, Matsui, Cano, Thompson, Nieves, Mussina.

I'm not sure how to work Buehrle into the Sox rotation right now. Schilling is probably only gonna be on the DL for the 15-day minimum, and the rest of our starters are pitching well. Wakefield could move to the bullpen, but it doesn't make sense since he's a junkball pitcher and can go a full 9 innings easily. Tavarez has been nasty lately, and he's a great fifth starter cause he can spot start all the time with his rubber arm, so I don't want to interfere with what works right now.

BCWWF

Burhele is likely to be traded. Red Sox, Mets, and Braves are the favorites to acquire him.

Wouldn't it make the most sense for him to finally go to St. Louis? He has been wanting to play there forever and they have never needed starting pitching as much as this year.

mrslackalack
06-24-2007, 10:41 PM
Yeah the Red Sox would have a lot of pitching weapons (maybe too much) if they get Burhele. I heard that they are the fav to get him but that the Mets want him real bad. I am suprised not to hear the Yankees in the mix because they could use a SP right now to go with Clemens, Wang, Mussina and crew and move another SP to the bullpen which they need right now.

mrslackalack
06-24-2007, 10:43 PM

Another trade rumour is that the Yankees are going after Carlos Pena of the Tampa Rays. Giving up a top pitching prospect for him. Yeah, heard of the Pena rumor. We do need some consistency at 1B so Pena would help. The shitty thing is that the Yankees had him last year at AAA and he was doing good. They didn't bring him up at all so he had the choice of leaving. Just sucks to give up a prospect for someone you had in your system last year and could use.

Yeah, they've talked about that too. They've put him in there in late innings a couple times recently. Never let him start the game there though. I think the only reason he isn't playing there now is because while in the NL parks he was too injured to play the field, and in the AL he could be the DH. With Giambi gone and Phelps DFA, they really have no one else to even DH.

And back to the Burhele thing, I can only see the Red Sox doing it if Burhele agrees to re-up his contract. If thats the case, then it makes perfect sense since there is a very good chance that Schilling will not be on the Red Sox next season.

Also, it makes sense anyway, move Tavarez back to the pen (which will allow the Sox to DFA Mike Timlin) and have Burhele take his spot. This allows Lester to stay in AAA for the entire year as he battles back from his defeat of cancer. Then next season Schilling is probably gone, freeing up a spot for Lester...plus it's not like Wakefield is getting any younger.

Not saying this trade NEEDS to happen or something, but just saying I think it only will improve a good Sox team. I dunno if I would trade Ellsbury or Clay Buchholz though. Maybe Ellsbury, since its a lot easier to get a bat/outfield but Buchholz needs to be untouchable. Buchholz is probably who the White Sox want though...Maybe they could unload Mr. Hype Craig HAAAsen? haha

Shea to the Yankees? Man, that would be perfect. This team is a hurricane this year, and they might as well add to it and add Hillenbrand

I didn't realize until a day or two ago that the Mariners are solidly above 500.

That means that the AL still has a lot of teams contending. All above or around 500 right now: Angels, Mariners, A's, Tigers, Indians, Twins, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees.

Yeah, holy shit @ Howard's homer. 505 feet.

The Big Hurt with HR #500 tonight. He's been heating up nicely as of late as well. Slow start, like last year, but really coming around. But... He's really become a power / pull hitter.

Interesting fact I seen on ESPN that besides Big Mac the 4 other top 5 quickest in MLB history failed to hit 500 HR. Howard however was the fastest to hit 100 HR 60 games ahead.

Howard's like 27 now and it'll take 10 seasons of 40 HR for him to get 500. dunno, that means he needs to be hitting 40 HR at age 37.

Milton Bradley has a new home.

A's trade Milton Bradley to the Padres for minor league pitcher Andrew Brown and some cash.

lol it's so obvious he made up being injured again so he wouldn't have to play for the Royals

Beane: Milton, I just got off the phone with Dayton Moore, we've agreed to send you to Kansas City.

Bradley: Nigga my ankle hurt and shit

Went down to Philly for the first time to watch the Mets/Phillies game. Great time, had seats 5th row right field, right near the foul pole. We're visible in some replays where they show home run trots.

Also, The Sandman came in with his kids and sit 3 rows in front of us. Pretty awesome.

Was hilarious when Wagner came in. Got booed hugely, while all us Mets fans gave a standing ovation.

But yeah, its a nice park. I'd go again.

I'm starting to hate Abreu again.

lol, I know what you are saying about Abreu. I thought that little hot streak would turn things around but nonetheless, he is still awful. On that note, the Yankees must have some of the worst production out of their outfield this year. I am not sure whats more aggravating though. Trying to bunt in huge spots, never swinging the bat, making every play difficult by being ridiculously afraid of the wall, or just screwing up routine plays.

I never understood why Philly wanted him out of there until I saw him play regularly.

The Pirates protest is happening today. Its hilarious...they are trying to delete messages on the boards, but there are so many.

The Pirates have also reportedly told their TV coverage that they are not to show or discuss it at all during the broadcast. They have also contacted ESPN and have asked them to not show it or discuss it. :o

This is what I hate about ESPN, they are just corporate kiss asses. They don't give a shit about reporting the sports news, they just want to please the higher-ups in the sporting world. A team's fanbase staging a walkout is a big news story, the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" had a duty to report on it. But hey, at least it'll get replaced with one of those "My Wish" feel-good stories about a retarded kid meeting David Ortiz
