Tennessee vs. Houston tonight. Last game between them, Chris Johnson had his 284 yd, 3 TD explosion. And now the Titans are good. Should be fun.

I dont think Roethlisberger is going to play Sunday Night vs the Ravens. Batch hurt his wrist in OT and is out for the season and its been reported the Steelers are calling around to see whos available, so far contacting Jeff Garcia and Cleo Lemon. Dennis Dixon is their 3rd String QB.

So, they were both "bad" losses, but which one was more embarassing: Cincy to Oakland or Pittsburgh to KC?
screech
11-23-2009, 06:43 PM
While both KC and OAK are pretty bad, I think the Raiders are worse than the Chefs. That said, though, the Chefs were coming off a win and took the defending champs into OT.
So KC beating PIT should be more embarrassing for Steelers fans, given the nature of the loss. The Raiders' win (scoring 10 in the final minute) was more stunning than embarrassing (though some Bengals fans may disagree).

My AFC Wild Card Projections:
Steelers (6-4) (@Ravens/Raiders/@Browns/Packers/Ravens/@Dolphins)= 10-6
Jaguars (6-4) (@49ers/Texans/Dolphins/Colts/@Patriots/@Browns)= 10-6
----
Broncos (6-4) (Giants/@Chiefs/@Colts/Raiders/@Eagles/Chiefs)= 9-7
Dolphins (5-5) (@Bills/Patriots/@Jaguars/@Titans/Texans/Steelers)= 8-8
Ravens (5-5) (Steelers/@Packers/Lions/Bears/@Steelers/@Raiders)= 10-6
Texans (5-4) (Titans/Colts/@Jaguars/Seahawks/@Rams/@Dolphins/Patriots)= 9-7
Notes: The Ravens should be able to beat the Steelers at home without Roethlisberger or Polamalu but I will give the Steelers the game in Pittsburgh later since they'll both be back by then. The Ravens schedule is the easiest in my opinion along with the Steelers.
Im not 100% sold on Jacksonville to win their next 3, and if they stumble it puts Houston in the next best spot. The Dolphins would need to beat the Patriots in 2 weeks and I dont see it happening this time.
The Texans need to win tonight, and they could be in it if they beat the Jaguars.
If my scenario happens, the Ravens would have the tiebreaker over the Steelers based on common games since the Ravens beat the Chiefs and a future predicted wins over the Packers and Bears, vs the Steelers only having beat the Vikings where the Ravens lost (counting all the other common game wins for both teams vs Lions/Raiders/Chargers/Broncos) and would get the #6 Seed and probably play the Chargers or Bengals in the Wild Card Round.
oof..too much work..

<font color=goldenrod>Orton is playing Thursday...makes it even more critical for the Giants D to finally get its shit together. The only reason the Giants even won the game was because they won the coin flip.
I normally defend the NFL's overtime system, in that you should play defense if you want to win...but honestly, in scenarios like that where its blindlingly obvious that both team's offenses GREATLY outweight the defenses, it definitely does feel like the whole game comes down to a flip. Jets CB Donald Strickland vowed retaliation against Patriots OL Mark LeVoir for what he claimed was an dirty hit during Sunday’s 31-14 New England win. Strickland suffered a concussion after being blocked by LeVoir on a play in the second quarter in which LeVoir’s helmet struck Strickland’s. “It was a real cheap shot,” Strickland told the Newark Star-Ledger. “He really didn’t have to go at my head like that, especially with the NFL’s precaution about helmet-to-helmet contact.” Strickland’s comments came on the same day Jets coach Rex Ryan said his team was “disrespected” by the Patriots on a deep pass in the final minute of the game. Strickland vowed to settle the score against LeVoir the next time the teams play. “It happened. It was a block and he took advantage of it,” he told the Star-Ledger. “But I guarantee you the next time we play them it’s going to be a different story. I’m making a point of emphasis to retaliate. That’s the way I feel.” The Jets and Patriots are not scheduled to play again this season.

Ive got dumb boneheaded replays saved where the cpu goes for a PAT and kicks a punt, and where the CPU has their own huge kickoff return and goes into highstep mode just long enough for me to knock the ball out at the goal line.
Oh yeah, and I totally realized my "Im speechless" didn't link to what I was trying to link to, which was Chad Johnson's Condoms he's selling. Look it up.

Always goes like this with the dominant teams. They destroy everyone in the first 8 weeks, get a few wobbly victories from about weeks 9-12 and then about week 13 or 14 they finally lose one. For the Colts and Saints sake, they need to lose a couple, otherwise they'll just choke in the do or die situation of the playoffs.

Any lingering remaining doubt I had about the Ravens winning the game went out the door with that. No Big Ben or Polamalu = Steelers gettin the asses handed to them tomorrow. The Ravens are also giving out purple towels for everyone to wave..
Also, interesting note that NBC might pick up on. The Steelers #2 QB for the game is one Tyler Palko, who was on the Cardinals active roster last year and played for the Cardinals vs the Steelers in the preseason this year before he got cut. But, thats not the most interesting factoid...He was the QB at Pitt back in 2004 and a man by the name of Joe Flacco was stuck behind him on the depth chart, and Flacco would eventually go on to Delaware and..the rest is history.
one other small tidbit I just found out, the Orioles drafted Joe's brother Mike and he'll be playing A ball here where I live.

The ravens still have to win tonight..but they should be in really good shape for a Wild Card spot.

Costas even gave Hines a chance to backpedal and he didn't. Hines STILL didn't offer any sort of apology this morning on ESPN.
Still, though, Steelers messed up HUGE by not even trying to sign a QB with NFL experience. Should have went after Garcia. Even with 5 days, a guy with that much experience probably knew most of our playbook simply by playing for so many different teams. Even if you assume that Ben would start, you know that he's fragile at the moment, and Batch was out with a broken hand.
And Ben really should have said something sooner than FRIDAY that he wasn't sure whether he was good to go.

Ive seen a few Skins games this year to know that they are better now than they were at the start of the season.
They've beat the spread 3 straight with a win vs Denver at home and 1 and 3 point losses to Dallas and Philly on the road when they were 10+ point dogs. They will at least be that at home vs the Saints on Sunday, if not more.
im comparing it to the 2007 Ravens/Patriots game in Baltimore. The Pats were 11-0 and the Ravens were 4-7, and the Ravens were well over 2 TD dogs and the Pats only ended up winning because the Ravens thought the game was over after 59 minutes and basically self destructed with penalties and bad plays and still came up 3 yards short of the upset.

I do believe I had said earlier in this thread I preferred Orton over Cutler, even though Jay is much more talented, and was heavily criticized.
I don't know if Jay could do what Orton is. He's got an awesome arm, yeah, but he has a pretty lame football mind. So while Cutler could make the throws Orton struggles with and gets picked on, Kyle doesn't even make a fourth of the retarded attempts Jay does. 20 INTs 10 games into the season is ridiculous.
Cutler also tends to get frustrated easily, which leads to over/under throws and forced attempts. Orton is usually significantly calmer.
Though I do miss those deep bombs to Marshall, Royal and Sheffler :'(

I think the Saints have a better chance finishing 16-0 than the Colts do for this reason. New Orleans is going to be battling until the end of the season to make sure they don't lose homefield advantage to the Vikings, while the Colts will have everything sewn up early and already have a history of resting a few players here and there in the season's closing weeks (unless, of course, the Colts want to stick it to the Pats again by also going 16-0 and actually finish the job at the Super Bowl).

The Redksins main problem is their offense which was only a little better than the Browns. But ever since they took offensive playcalling away from Zorn, they've done better despite losing Portis and Betts at RB.
Their defense being one of the best in the league vs the pass is inflated due to playing so many god awful teams with horrible QBs but its still pretty decent.

I can't tell if this is just for publicity or if they actually needed to bring someone in to teach him how to slide.Heard Rex Ryan called the Yankees asking if they could send someone over and Girardi volunteered. Sounds very fabricated with Girardi coming to help out but I dunno still hilarious to me.

Jets to run the table and sneak in to the playoffs 10-6. Gonna happen. Bills, Buccs, Falcons, then Indy and Cincy won't care anymore by weeks 16 and 17, so yeah.

More like the Bills owner testing the market for moving the team to Toronto since its supposedly the 2nd most supported Bills area after Buffalo.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning acknowledged Thursday that the autograph on the wall of the visiting locker room at Cowboys Stadium is authentic.

Giants' defensive end Justin Tuck gives his thoughts on Eli's autograph and Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bradie James considers the signature a form of taunting, much like Giants running back Brandon Jacobs postgame dance on the star at midfield after New York's 33-31 victory in the grand opening of the $1.2 billion stadium. The autograph was accompanied by the score of the game and "First win in the New Stadium."
"We won't forget that," said James, a defensive captain who ranted Wednesday about his dislike of the Giants. "It just makes for a more intense game."
Manning confirmed that the signature was his, but he said he didn't intend the autograph as a taunt. He said he just granted the request of a locker room attendant.
"Yeah, it's a pretty common thing," Manning told reporters at the Giants' practice facility. "I was asked to sign it, it wasn't like I just went there and signed it. I didn't have a pen on me or anything. It was all supplied."
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he "didn't think it was a great thing to do" and seemed puzzled by Manning's explanation.
"Things come back around in this league," Phillips said.
Manning did not seem concerned when told that the Cowboys were using his autograph as motivational fodder.
"Yeah, I kind of heard a few things about it,'' Manning said. "I figure they'll eventually get over it."

Nope
Ted Rogers wanted to buy an NFL team.
As a test he paid the Bills Owner Ralph Wilson 86 million dollars to hosts 6 games or so in toronto.
He then died last year. The games have failed, and the parties are kind of playing it out...
Yes wade things like that do come back around. In the form of you delivering his pizza and him signing the credit card receipt.

So has anyone else noticed that Matt Millen is actually a really good color commentator? He's been doing a big chunk of college games this year and he did the Bills/Jets game. As shocking as it seems, he actually appears to know what he's talking about.

Pretty sure he was a "big time" commentator before he left to do his great job with the Lions.

I don't dislike the Saints or anything ,but they keep showing that annoying pre game chant every single pre game show like if we haven't seen it 100 times before.
I'll root for them to lose if it means I won't get to hear it again.
