The Steelers beat the Ravens 3 times last year.
It can easily be done, and can sadly very easily happen next week.
St. Louis went over Seattle three times in the 2004 season.
Doesn't Dallas play Green Bay next week though?
RatedGSuperstar
01-03-2010, 06:32 PM
Minnesota's win guaranteed that Green Bay plays Arizona next week.
If the Eagles win, they don't play the Cowboys next week -- they get the bye, and would've forced Dallas to go to Minnesota. If the Cowboys win, Minnesota gets the bye and Dallas hosts Philly next week.
The only way the Cowboys could've played the Packers is if the Vikings lost, the Packers lost, and the Cowboys won.

It probably is occurring from this tie-breaker since they both have same overall record and conference record.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Or at least from total points scored or Difference in total points.

If Sanchez can essentially play like Trent Dilfer did when the Ravens won the Super Bowl, I could actually see the Jets making a little noise in the playoffs. It's not crazy to think that with an average QB, they could've won the division this year...if Sanchez can avoid making any bad mistakes, they can ride that running game and defense pretty far.
RP, if the Bengals win, they play the Chargers no matter what, meaning you'd get New England. Which, if you believe the rumors, is what Belichick wants and why he didn't put up much of a fight for the 3rd seed.

<font color=goldenrod>This is the first Giants team to give up 40 points in back-to-back games since 1971.
It’s the first Giants team to give up 40 or more five times in the same season since 1966.
It’s the first Giants team to give up 30 or more in four of five games since 1980.
And, having now given up 427 points (and counting … it’s still late in the third quarter) it’s now officially the worst Giants defense since the 1966 team that gave up a remarkable 501 points in 14 games.

You know with wins against the Bills (OT loss), Jaguars (2 point loss with last gasp field goal), Falcons (3 point loss with last gasp TD), Dolphins (5 point loss with 2 KO returns for TD's allowed), the Jets could easily be 13-3 or 12-4 right now.
All this with a rookie QB. Definitely a good future ahead. Regardless of what happens next week, making the play offs with a rookie QB has to make the season a big success. Quite bizarre how it's ended up this way.

Drastic improvement to the D, steps back for the O.
Last offseason was spent mostly overhauling the defense, and I expect this offseason to be the same for the O. New OL is definite (minus Clady and Harris) and it looks like Denver will need new WRs too. Possible new QB? Who knows.
Next years schedule APPEARS to be significantly easier, so I have higher hopes for next year than I had for this year.

I know that. That's why I didn't say they "should" have been won, because it's the NFL, everyone gets close wins. Was just putting in to perspective how close they are to turning a real corner, with a rookie QB none the less. That's why good teams like the Bengals and the Patriots win divisions, they can manage to swing a couple of those closer games their way.

I will ignore the obvious and say anyone who says the BENGALS ARE A GOOD TEAM (two good seasons in 20) can shut the fuck up.
Your original post was fucked, because no matter how you take it, you are and idiot. The difference in one or 2 plays is what makes the NFL what it is. So STFU on teams coming close to win....an 0-16 team with close losses is still a loss. We actually treat losses like losses.

Yeah the d played a lot better this year, disregarding yesterday, but I don't know what happened to the o line. They were one of the few bright spots last season, and were doing good pass blocking early this season, but it seems like it, along with everything else, fell apart after the bye week.

<font color=goldenrod>I thought Raheem Morris was headed for a 1-and-done year with the Bucs when they only had 1 win, but I think since he's so young they'll give him another year.
Same can be said for the other coaches on crappy teams. Spags can hardly be blamed and is getting a lot of money, Schwartz needs time to build, etc.

So Broncos fan, is this season a success or no?
I think our fate was sealed when McDevil bannished Scheff and Marshall from the game. It could have been different or not.
But as a fan, no as a nation, I'd bet NOBODY saw us come out of the corner swinging and go 6-0. The fluke win in Cincy got the ball rolling, then we took down big dogs Dallas, NE, and San Diego. But whatever happened during the bye in week 7 and just crumbling the rest of the way...
I'm inclined to go with the conspiracy theorists and say Belichick called up McDevil that week and flipped the switch in his head to fuck us from the inside. Who knows, who cares. Fans want alot of questions as to what the hell happened.
As for 2010.... McDaniels has got alot of work to do to rebuild. Kyle Orton is gone, Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler are probably gonna get ran out of town, the RB merry-go-round wasn't that much of a success, and the D needs a little work.
Welker was on his way to breaking Marvin Harrisons catch record if he hadnt missed any time this year. I've read a few articles that have said that Marvins 143 receptions in a season may never be broken.

Poor Jim Zorn...well I guess rich Jim Zorn since he now gets paid to do nothing...I feel bad for him in a way. He seems like such a nice guy that knows football (can't seem to coach it, but seems to know it), but he was doomed from the start. I mean who hires an offensive coordinator before they hire a head coach and then promotes the dude to head coach when they can't find anyone else to take the job? Well who besides Al Davis and Jerry Jones? Dan Snyder is the caboose on a crazy train of terrible football.

Giants fire Sheridan. Can't imagine the next guy will do much better?
I had this idea as far as sitting starters goes and whatnot. Any team that goes 16-0 is allowed to choose who they are going to play in the next round. So, they get to choose between the winner of the third and sixth seed game or the fourth and fifth. If you go 15-1, you get to choose one of those two games before they are played, and you play the winner of that game. If you get two teams in the conference that are 16-0 or 15-1 then tough shit.
Or how about this: Any undefeated team gets to choose one player from any non-playoff team in their conference to play for them during the playoffs.

Didn't the NBA or some other league experimented with something similar to this a few years ago. It was as a way to keep mouth-watering games from being wasted in the 1st or 2nd round and save them for potential conference finals.

"A reporter asked a semi-serious question on whether or not quarterbacks get too much protection from the league. Belichick initially answered — tongue-in-cheek — that his background is in defense, “so you can probably figure out the answer to that question.” But then, he added that no one cares what he thought anyway. “I think you should talk to the guys who make the rules. There are plenty of people on that committee and they love to talk about the rules that they’ve made and how great they are and all that, honestly. The Charley Casserlys of the world, that have all the answers to everything. Talk to them. They’ve spent a lot of time studying it, a lot more than I have, and I’m sure they have all the answers.” - WEEI.com
