Ok, but again, there's more to post #5483 than the link in it.
EXACTLY.
Which is why I said that in my FIRST RESPONSE, which you took a completely different manner, and brought us full circle back to it.
Fuck's sake.
I took it in the manner it was presented. After the fact, you said you were referring to the "yards don't matter" comment.
So I accepted that. From that point on, it was established.
Nice try.

Peyton Manning does nothing but bitch and moan at his own teamates when they mess up.
Why don't they do the same to him when he throws picks, or fails to get a touchdown with first and goal?
Requiem shouldn't have to explain himself to a bunch of faggots on a wrestling forum

There is nothing to debunk because you've taken everything out of context. Just because you insist that I am making an excuse by saying that doesn't mean it's true.
That is what I meant by twisting my words. You took something I said and spun it to sound negative, when that is not at all how I meant it. Or even said it.
Again. I didn't say the Colts played better. In fact, I specifically said the Saints played better. But you STILL can't get that in your head. You've got the selective reading of a preschooler. The book says 'A for Apple', but you're reading it as 'A for Asshole'.

Requiem, you also have not addressed my response to you about the neg repping.
You seem to think me posting one of your negs was a complaint. When I burst your bubble and revealed that it was obviously for everyone else to see and enjoy with me, you didn't say any more.
What are your thoughts?

Here it is again.
No it was not taken out of context.
You're claiming that you didn't state The Colts played better? The whole argument we've been having is about statistics. I'm not twisting it the other way, or arguing it the other way. The whole fucking argument has specifically dealt with their statistical play.
You say they played better statistically. That's bullshit.
I may say "played better" instead of throwing in "statistically" every post. Clinging to that is bullshit since it's just shortening the sentence.
So what say you?
You're also saying that you didn't claim to not be making excuses?
I'm really curious if you're going to keep lying about this, because it's all up there for everyone to read.
Requiem

What about the neg repping? I don't care. lol The fact that you're trying to irk a response from me on the situation is laughable.
The whole argument HASN'T been about statistics, because YOU tried to turn it into an argument about something other than statistics.
I NEVER said the Colts played better football and deserved to win due to the statistics they put up. I stated that statistically, the Colts played better. I then stated that it didn't matter, because the Saints played better when it mattered. Playing better when it matters.. is well... what matters. The Saints won the Super Bowl.
YOU tried to spin it as if I was saying the Colts played better and should have won because of it.
I can repeat that in a hundred different ways, but I guess it will never sink in to your thick head that there was no malice or ill intentions in the original post that started this whole argument.
Requiem
02-08-2010, 04:44 AM
I am not lying about anything. Have been absolutely straight forward in everything I've said here tonight. You are just reading things how you want to read them, so that you can have a fight and feel better about yourself.

Still no spin. It will not sink into my head because it's a steaming pile of bullshit.
Coming into the thread and saying The Colts played better (statistically, just so you don't grasp to it), is a bullshit comment. It's an excuse. How can you claim you this after throwing a comment like that in there?
Also, it's false to begin with, so it doesn't even matter.
In other news, you're absurd.
Finally, I thought you were just going to refer me to post 5783 or whatever? I thought that covered everything, and you had nothing left to say to debunk me?
Those were the statistics we were talking about weren't they?
Why, after my last string of posts, do you need to spin more yarns and throw out more red herring to try to get out of this argument?
Surely the all-important post 5783 would take care of this for you if it carried any weight to begin with
Jeritron

The Colts did not play better than The Saints statistically.
You're an asshole for saying this, and later claiming your post wasn't laced with an excuse.
I hope you continue to amuse me in the future.
Requiem
02-08-2010, 05:05 AM
And you're an asshole for saying they didn't, because it is not true. At this point, you're amusing yourself. Half of what you've said has been pulled from your own ass.
Going to bed on this note:
I am proud to be a Colts fan, regardless of what anyone here thinks. They played one hell of a season, and I am certainly not angry about the loss today. It was a disappointing end to the season, sure, but the Saints deserve credit where credit is due, and they did everything right tonight.
In my first post, I MEANT what I said about them and I will not take back my words. Though some people would take my words out of context, there was no malice in them. It was an observation I made in disappointment. The Colts put up the numbers, but the Saints made theirs count, and deserved the win. There should be only one way to take that, but some people would turn it into something it wasn't.
I got what I wanted out of this season. I watched games with friends, laughed about them, cheered about them, and enjoyed myself. From the perspective of someone who doesn't take sports as seriously as some other people...
Chill out.

The Colts did not play better statistically. You're just trying to make yourself feel better about the defeat Req, it's natural. When you initially said that they played statistically better I think that implies yardage is included, but even after you both agreed to discount yardage, it doesn't make the argument favor the Colts.
I fail to see how Jeritron twisted anything.
You said looking at the numbers The Colts played better. They got outscored 34-7 after the first quarter
This all means you're a monumental asshole

Kinda annoyed already hearing about Peyton Manning's legacy somehow being tarnished by this. Yeah he hasn't been as successful as Brady obviously, but it's not like he's going to be Dan Marino.
Furthermore, everybody is saying Peyton choked the game away and don't seem to give the Saints proper credit. But if the teams were reversed, I doubt anybody would say Brees choked. Instead it would be BAH GAWD PEYTON MANNING AND KELVIN HAYDEN LEAD THE COLTS TO VICTORY!!!
Gonzo
02-08-2010, 10:37 AM
Obviously the Porter INT was the fatal flaw for Manning. I guess you can technically call it "choking" but the guy just made a great individual play. When they interviewed him after the game he recognized what the Colts WR's routes and jumped Wayne's route.
I think it didn't help that Freeney got progressively worse off over the course of the game. The Colts didn't get any pressure on Brees. I don't know of any QB in the league that couldn't find the open man when they have all day to throw.

LOL YEAH TRY AND ACT LIKE IT'S NO BIG DEAL NOW, BUT IT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING YOU SAID YOU TOOL. DOESN'T MEAN SHITTTTTTT BECAUSE THE COLTS ARE IN THE SUPER BOWL AND NOT WHATEVER SHITTY TEAM YOU CHEER FOR. LOLOLOL GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE JETS WERE GOING TO WIN REAVANT. DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL? GOD, THIS GUY REQUIEM DOESN'T KNOW SHIT BUT HIS FAVORITE TEAM JUST MADE A FOOL OUT OF YOU AND ALL YOUR SUPPOSED SHIT TALKING YOU WERE GOING TO DO.
Seriously though. The Colts beat plenty of good teams along the way, and don't have to prove anything at this point. They've shown that resting their starters helped, because they have been playing superb football in the playoffs. They are in the Super Bowl, and there isn't shit you can say about it, because they wouldn't have gotten here had other teams just played better.
If it was the first game, maybe your words would have some semblance of truth, but the Jets beat two teams in the playoffs to get to this point. I don't know if you understand how football works Reavant, but that means they were the better team in those games. If the Bengals or Chargers had played better, we could have played them. But they lost. So get over it.
And suck it.
THE COLTS ARE GOING TO THE FUCKING SUPER BOWL! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SUCK IT COLTS HATERS!
THE COLTS CHOKED IN THE FUCKING SUPERBOWL!!!!!

On the onside kick at the beginning of the second half I thought it was such a cluster fuck. The referees couldn't pull the players apart. Can't fucking believe that Colt player (Hank Baskett I think?) let the ball bounce off his chest like that.

The stat box always downplays the most important stat besides scores, which is turnovers. Every other stat in a game can be completely negated by turnover margin and points off turnovers. And obviously a turnover decided this game.
So if I were to look at the stats of the game without knowing the score, even though Indy put up good numbers, that -1 TO differential is killer.
Supreme Olajuwon
02-08-2010, 01:27 PM
I mean, think about it. If Tracy Porter's 74 yard int TD had been a 74 yard rec TD, we wouldn't even be having this discussion about stats.

I said it because he said the same thing to me earlier. Was more of an 'equivalent' response, as were my neg reps back to him. I negged him once previously because he acted like a douche. OHNOES I NEG REPPED, which a thousand people do on here every day. So he responded by maxing out his daily reps by negging me over and over. So I did the same back. Negged him again as soon as he started with the retarded argument last night, and he did the same thing again, so I returned the favor again.
I actually responded to wwf's post with that rep comment, but deleted my post because I didn't care to keep pushing the issue again and again. Jeritron obviously wants to keep pushing the issue, so I'm not going to try to stop him if that's what gets him off, because it doesn't get me off.

Saints played better football today, hands down. Wasn't a fan of 'some stuff', but the Colts honestly just couldn't make some plays they should have. Looking at the numbers, the Colts played better (minus that pick). But when it came down to it, the Saints were able to make more key plays. :(
Congrats Saints :y:
This quote caused a huge ordeal. I don't give a fuck about his past posts. The fact that people actually nitpicked that statement to somehow start an argument is retarded. There is nothing in that statement that should cause people to bitch and moan like pussies. But somehow, people must find a way.
Of course, the "Saints played better football today" followed by the "Colts played better today" contradiction was a little :wtf: but that's the only thing to remark on. And even that just comes down to a poor choice of words. Whatever. lol

I asked him to explain such a ridiculous statement and it all went from there. How else do you think arguments start?
His point was that the Colts played better but the Saints made the key plays when it mattered.
Yards do not matter as far as the final score. When making the statement "the Colts played better" however, yes yards matter IN THAT REGARD. That's really all he was saying. And the fact that it was followed by a gracious statement should say he's not trying to give the game to the Colts somehow.
It's not a ridiculous statement. The Colts moved the ball better. Whether you agree or not, it's at the very least not a ridiculous statement. The Saints made the key plays. Namely the onside kick and the pick 6. THE two key plays of the game. That's what won it. It's nothing to get all worked up about. He made a point that if you don't find valid personally, you have to at least see how it's not incredibly crazy.

ok, skipped through most this crap, when people start talking about the "rep system"... wtf... anyway..
More like this is the 18-1 only section
Yes and the Colts will be in the 17-2 section. I do love how Steve Young looks like a bigger idiot for arguing that the Pats lost to an "inferior" team because they were tired and the Colts chose to rest players to win the SB since 19-0 can't be done... apparently 18-1 isn't that easy to do either.
Agreed, it's like people who didn't give the Giants credit saying the Pats choked... If you want to see choke, look at Neil O'Donnell's performance... clear obvious bad plays made... not a team beat by another team... give the winning team credit.
See, Manning is awesome for the same reason he gets crap for mistakes... so did Marino, so did Bledsoe, Elway and to some extent Favre.... These guys have amazing cannon arms, and they can do what few people in the world can in placing the ball to a receiver 30yds down field inbetween 2-3 defenders... that said, it works most of the time, then on the occasion it doesn't everyone forgets about all the times it worked.
I don't even fault him for the INT, the Saints did their homework and actually figured out an audible, rarely does that ever happen to the Colts, the defender read it and jumped the route... it happens once in a great while, it was an amazing play... I'd fault Manning more for the play calling at the end... and yes, I believe Manning calls the plays on the field, and I give him a lot of credit for that.
Congrats to the Saints!

In agreeing that yardage didn't matter, you left it out of consideration; see: aforementioned definitions.
Look Req, you tried to make the claim that the Colts statistically played better than the Saints, yet the Saints made the key plays. I don't think anyone will argue the latter. However, you failed to explain exactly how the Colts played statistically better and back pedaled the entire time. Both of you (mainly Req and Jeritron) pretty much resorted to petty insults, and we are now more retarded for having had to read it.

Rumor is the bad winter weather in the East Coast might have helped tipped the numbers in favor of the Superbowl breaking the record since most people would have been at home and less in large groups. Also the fact the Superbowl has been rising steadily the last decade or so in views means it was going to be a matter of time before the record was broken.
Although to be fair, the storylines were interesting for this game since it involved a debuting team in the Superbowl, post-Katrina New Orleans, Drew Brees rise to elite status, Peyton Manning chance to join elite multi-ring winners list, and the Colts chance to join the 3+ titles list.

Grats Kris P. I know it feels good. Colts just lost to the better team and Brees was clearly the better QB ( this game ). Manning wasnt rattled. Thats just dumb to say. He had a great game accept for that int. And i dont know what was wrong with Reggie Wayne, but he needed to fight for that ball. The Colts had bigger problems though.
1) The end of the 1st half was unbeleivable. The Colts get the ball at the 1 yard line. They run for about 4 yards and all they need to do is get one 1st down. Somehow Caldwell forgot that he had Peyton Manning i guess.
2) The onside kick. Hank Baskett better not even show up in Indy to clean his locker. The dude was all over the onside kick. He read it. He was there. And then he got tackled by the football. I dont think i've ever seen that before. And as soon as i saw it was Baskett, i screamed " WTF IS BASKEtT DOING ON THE HANDS TEAM! " . This guy hasnt caught anything all year. He's pretty horrible. And his wife fucked a 80 year old. Comon. Polian should have known.
3) Why in the world did we not go to Addai more? The Saints had alot of answers, but they had no answer at all for Joe Addai. Addai was having the game of his life. And in the 2nd half, the Colts forgot about him. I was so angry about this. The guy was cutting the Saints for about 8 yards a carry. This is something that isnt being talked about right now, but when the Colts look back on it, they'll wish they would have worked the offense through Addai.
Anyways, i'm happy for the Saints. They were amazing this year and deserved to be the champs. And i'm glad Brees has a ring. He's a top 4 QB in the league, maybe top 2.
And i can totally see a rematch between these two next year in the Superbowl.

Would have been nice if both QB's showed up for the game, grats Saints.
um what
Manning threw under 50 yards more and only had one touchdown. That's really not much better.
I watched the game and although I am still learning the game, Brees seemed to be the only quarterback on the field all day.
I mean for being one the "best" quarterbacks to have ever existed, Peyton was pretty horrible to watch at times.

I heard something on the radio that the Saints had like 26 guys in a contract year this year. I don't know how much of that is their team's nucleus, but given that I would be surprised to see them go back.

Manning had one pick, and some bad calls toward the end. What are you talking about FA? Did you not see him throw into Clark over the heads of like SIX freaking Saints? Did you not see Garcon's touchdown catch through double coverage? Don't know who it was that mentioned it.. but it's like when Manning screws up once, people forget all the amazing things he has done.
Hell, that pick wasn't even completely his fault. The guy read the route and made a great play for that interception.
I think I saw more dropped passes from the receivers that game than I saw 'bad' throws by Manning. Really thought Garcon was gonna bust it out that game, and while he kind of did.. he also had some drops that hurt pretty bad.
Hell, part of the Saints gameplan involved keeping Manning out for most of the 2nd quarter, and it worked. It broke his momentum.
I'm going to chalk this up to you not having any clue what's going on on the field, FA.

This. As soon as he started making plays, I thought it was going to be his game. I remember thinking how awesome it would have been for the team with the worst rushing in the league to win the Super Bowl by rushing. Had that been the case, there is no way Addai wouldn't have gotten SB MVP. Those few in a row were key for building momentum, so I don't know why they didn't go back to him.

Yeah, I guess I dont. :(
Perhaps the interception on top of everything else, I mean I am watching the saints get 1st Down after 1st Down and the Colts have 4 downs and its back to the Saints.
Perhaps Brees out shadowed Manning so much, it made him look shitty.
And I really do wish I had a better grasp on what was going on, especially that catch in the end zone (conversion I think its called when that play happens) and all the replays of it.
Or perhaps I was angered by the 143 Olympic commercials I sat through, but who know.s
