San Diego pretty much got the West wrapped up.

Poor Broncos. Wonderful performance by Marshall, but not enough for the Great Peyton Manning.

Nice work Chargers. Now time for the Giants to step up. Can turn it into a 3-way tie by the end of the night.

Rocky Bernard inactive...no surprise there. Hakeem Nicks starting, glad to see him get more playing time, he's earned it.

Watch out for DeSean Jackson. Dude just torches the defender and goes deep half the time. Don't fall for it, Webster.

LET'S GO GIANTS!!!

Great..another december meltdown by Dallas .:|

Losing to the Saints we'll be 8-6. I'm guessing a 9-7 finish and another miss of the playoffs. Phillips had to go last year at least he'll be out for sure after this season.

MIKE VICK BABY

Went to the Pats game today out of no where, randomly got tickets at like 2:30 Friday afternoon. Not a bad game to attend, weather kinda sucked and I also had to pay 30 dollars to park "exactly" a mile away from the Stadium though, that was pretty wild. When I went last year I went with my buddy who had his mom's handicap pass so we parked in the disabled lot right next to the stadium, lol COLD BLOODED

Bill Sheridan blows. If the Giants are able to crawl into the playoffs their defense is going to be their downfall. Terrible safety play. I rue the day Kenny Phillips was lost for the year.

Sheridan is getting canned unless
A) Defense sees a rejuvenation in the next three weeks en route to the playoffs
or
B) Giants make the playoffs and win a game...think Sheridan will be safe then in spite of the defense

I still think they can get the 6th seed so long as they win out and Dallas continues in free fall...both of which are possible.

Crushing defeat though.

he wanted to know why the headlines ask if the colts can hang on to the streak while they act as if the saints will for sure... its because the colts play a little sloppier at times and have had more close games. Not to mention, peyton is the colts. They would not have won those close games if it were not for him, while i think theres a couple quarterbacks you could plug into the saints and have the same results.

Was pretty gutted after Ware's injury. Just felt like the end of the season right there. This coming from the most optimistic of fans. It was 10-10 at that point and I couldn't even get into the game after Ware was carted off. Felt like the entire team was just deflated after that too. It just felt like the rest of that game and the season was doomed.

The Colts arent just Peyton Manning. You've obviously not watched any Colts game this year. Our Defense has been clutch. We have rookies that have stepped up and started almost all the games this year at DB. Melvin Bullitt has come in and replaced a DPOY. Gary Brackett is one of the best middle linebackers in the game. Dallas Clark might be the best tight end in the game right now. Our offensive line has given up the least amount of sacks of any team in the league.

Wow, looking through the Giants message board...what a miserable group. Most of the posters don't even want to see the Giants make the playoffs because they are afraid it'll give the front office an excuse to keep Sheridan...and they are assuming they'll be one and done again.

Granted, if the Giants get the 6th seed they'll more than likely have to play the Eagles yet again, which makes me groan. But nobody thought the Giants had a chance in hell against Dallas in the '07 playoffs, either. If they managed to squeeze out a win like that I definitely could see another miracle run. Gotta be in it to win it.

Coach says healthy starters will playComment Email Print Share Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell has an answer for starters who want to play the final three games: Be ready to go Thursday night at Jacksonville.

AFC South blog
ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky writes about all things AFC South in his division blog.

• Blog network: NFL Nation

The announcement came one day after three-time MVP Peyton Manning lobbied publicly to play against the division rival Jaguars. Last week, three-time Pro Bowl receiver Reggie Wayne also said he wanted to play the final three games even if the Colts clinched home-field advantage, which they wrapped up with Sunday's win.

For weeks, the biggest question in Indy has been whether the Colts will play or rest starters once playoff seeding was locked up.

Caldwell said "healthy" starters would play Thursday. He plans to revisit the debate for each of the final two games.

oh and every single point you made about how the colts play on the offensive side of the ball can be attributed to the play of peyton manning. The line hasnt given up sacks because peyton gets rid of the ball. Yes dallas is good, but so is antonio gates, vernon davis, shenko, whitten, gonzalez, heath miller etc... the point is tight ends are such a miss match for a defense and as long as they can catch, they will look like superstars if they have a QB to theom (all those other tight ebds i listed do BTW)

why do you take offense when someone says your QB is so good that the team would not be anywhere near as good without him? again... calm down homer

Shouldn't be possible since Seattle can't win the division nor the Wild Card even if Giants and Cowboys both lose their last 3 games and Seattle wins their 3 games. It also assumes San Fran looses at least 1 game.

If the Giants, Cowboys and Seahawks all finished 8-8 (and all the other wild card chasing teams finish with less than that), Giants would own the tie breaker over the Cowboys based on head to head, and then the Seahawks would own the tie breaker over the Giants based on Conference wins, giving them the last wild card spot.

I think that's how it would go. There's probably some other variations that could work too but that's one I figured out.

Realistically the lowest I think the Giants finish is 9-7. I can see them winning against the Skins and Panthers, possibly the Vikings if they sit their players.

I don't think it's possible. There's no way for Green Bay to finish worse than 9-7, so that gives them the 5th spot (1st Wildcard). The worst the Giants can finish is 7-9, so that means Seattle can finish better than them but not the Cowboys. Even if the Cowboys finished 8-8 and "tied" with Seattle, the Cowboys beat Seattle so that would give them the tiebreaker and the 6th seed (2nd Wildcard) .

From this site: http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures

Under three or more clubs to break a tie for the wild card team, it says: 'Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2.'

Therefore if my scenario came out (Giants, Cowboys, Seahawks on 8-8) that would mean Giants eliminate Cowboys instantly due to head to head record, then Seahawks beat Giants on best record in the NFC.

So quite ironically, going into the last game of the season, if the Giants were 7-8, the Seahawks would need the Giants to get to 8-8 too for them to eliminate Dallas.

Think I've got that right. Btw I'm not even considering 5th spot in any of this obviously.

Yea, the 5th Spot would have to go to Green Bay, simply because they cannot finish lower than 9-7. So in this scenario, that would leave the 6th spot between the Giants, Dallas, and Seattle.

I think before you went to the Three way tiebreaker, you would start just between the Giants and Dallas, because they are in the same division. The Giants have the tie breaker and Dallas is out. Then it would come down to Seattle and New York Giants. If they were both 8-8, with the remaining schedule, then they would both have 6 wins in the NFC.

Seattle would have beaten in the NFC: St Louis, Detroit, St Louis (again), San Francisco, Tampa, Green Bay

New York would have beaten in the NFC: Washington, Dallas, Tampa, Atlanta, Dallas, and either Washington, Carolina, or Minnesota (can only win one of those to get them to 8-8)

So then it would go to common opponents, minimum of four:

Common opponents of Giants and Seattle are: Dallas, Tampa, Arizona, Minnesota

The Giants record would be either 2-2 or 3-1, depending on if they beat Minnesota to get to 8-8. If both games against Dallas are counted, they would be 3-2 or 4-1.

Seattle's record would be 1-3 or 1-4 if both games against Arizona are counted

So the worst the Giants could do would be 2-2 and the best the Seahawks could do would be 1-3. Thus, the Giants would own the tiebreaker.

For that to happen, Denver would need to win out and need the Chargers (CIN, @TEN, WAS) to lose 2/3 and the Bengals (@SD, KC, @NYJ) to lose 1/3. There's an incredibly small chance, but it's possible

Henry has "life-threatening" injuries after "domestic situation"
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 16, 2009 6:25 PM ET
New information is rapidly coming out about Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's serious car accident.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Henry is facing "life-threatening" injuries after falling out the back of a pickup truck in Charlotte Wednesday.

Police say Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his fiance. As Henry's fiance drove away from the home where the situation occurred, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck.

He fell out the back of the truck at some point after that and was found half a mile away.

We'll continue to update Henry's story as we learn more about his condition.

AFC 2: Bengals (North)
AFC 3: Chargers (West)
AFC 4: Jets (East)
AFC 5: Titans (Wild Card 1)
AFC 6: Texans (Wild Card 2)

NFC 6: Cowboys (Wild Card 2)

I wish they would comment more on what actually happened, though. They say there was a domestic dispute, he jumped in the back of a pick up truck, then somebody found him later. I bet his girlfriend is fiancee is going to jail for this.

Well, she was the one who was driving when he fell out. So it is partially his fault for being in the back of the pickup, but she was also a MAJOR factor as to why he died. Would not be surprised to see her charged with vehicular manslaughter

If anyone does not know what that is, it's basically HBO going inside a team's training camp before the season and you get to know about the new rookie's coming in, you get to see the players get cut and all watch them go through the grind of the workouts

And they focused a lot on Chris Henry and on his comeback and how this was going to be his last chance. it's just so fucked

I realize that, but the problem is I don't see any of that happening. Dallas losing tonight would have been absolutely critical for the Giants to even tie...and I can't see the Eagles losing to the Broncos.

If the Vikings lose tomorrow, the Saints' magic number will only be one. But if they win, I'm thinking that sets up for a meaningful Week 17 for the Vikes...in which case the Giants have no chance in hell of winning with that defense. They might be able to keep up in scoring, but the D has been getting molested.

Might be one of my best fantasy years ever...first time I can recall having all 4 teams make the playoffs. Even my 7-7 team made it due to the league being terrible.

That being said, not feeling too optimistic in the majority of these leagues this week. Need another huge game from the Schaub/Johnson connection.

In my money league I put Vince Young as my QB out of necessity and the other guy had Drew Brees. VY's already doubled Brees' points.

Titans

Think I hate the Dolphins more than the Patriots these days.

Can only see latest scores of the Jets game, sounds tense as hell. Come on boys.

Not to "rehash" the "is Reggie Bush a bust" argument but, Reggie has 8 TD's this season while Vince Young only has 11..

Just saying..
