Patriots fans just proved how fair weather they are today. Unable to fill the stands for a play off game and booing your team in the first quarter. I guess you have to win at least 12 games and a deep play off run for some support up there

LOL, what? Did you see how shittily the Patriots played this afternoon?! I mean, seriously WTF? You give up a TD in the first 17 seconds and Brady makes all those stupid throws? It's very uncharacteristic for New England to perform so poorly especially in a playoff. Thus, I'm taking the (although admittedly somewhat jaded in their view of every other NFL team as inferior) fans of the Pats on this issue...they could've booed until the stadium imploded from the ruckus and if I was a so-called fan of theirs I'd be joining right in with the choir.

I bet the Colts are shitting themselves about playing the Ravens again.

we've beat the Ravens 7 straight games now. Also, Joe Flacco has been shitting himself all season. What happens when they get down by two touchdowns? Are they just gunna keep running? You really think Flacco is going to make a play or two?

Sorry, but the Colts arent shitting themselves at all and quite frankly, you're a retard for thinking that. You have no clue what you're talking about. You probably didnt even know the Colts have won the last 7 games against the Ravens. You probably just saw them beat the Pats and then jerked yourself off into saying something stupid like that. Go get some facts. Idiot.

Pah, if you were a Rams fan watching them lose their 15th game of the season then I could maybe understand some booing (though I don't agree with it myself). This was their team in a play off game at home and they completely turned against them in the first quarter. Yeah okay you have a right to be a bit annoyed with the start but get behind your fucking team there's still 3 quarters to turn it around. Once your own fans are against you you're doomed.

They went from having one of the greatest seasons ever to not even making the playoffs the next season with pretty close to the same roster.

They also had a really good back-up who is now a starter, not some bum like Chris Painter - who also happens to really be the Colts' 3rd string QB.

So yes, I do think most elite QBs are irreplaceable.

It was a fluke they didn't make the playoffs. Name one other 11-5 team that has missed the playoffs?

You added the word elite and thus widened the goalposts of your argument. The initial conversion was not about elite QBs. I used an example of a elite QB being replaced by an average NFLer.

To be honest I was very surprised that the Ravens defense came out and punched New England in the mouth like that. I don't think that the Ravens offense is scary, I don't know many offenses in the NFL that wouldn't put up those points after being put in that situation on Sunday. If there is anyone who can hurt an aggressive defense though, my money would be on Peyton Manning.

On that note, I just love watching Manning. The guy is almost robotic in his efficiency. I think when all is said and done, he is arguably the best QB in NFL history.

Article on NFL.com said it best. If the Colts can protect Manning, he will have his way with the Ravens' secondary.

They're also 0-7 vs the Colts since 2002 after starting 2-0.

And to all those saying Peyton is going to pick appart the Ravens secondary, I do recall him falling 1 yard short of 300 yards on 22/31 with 1 TD and 2 Ints back in november..hardly picking apart anything. Flacco managed 256 yards and an INT himself, so I have some confidence that he can handle their defense well enough to do better than 30 yards passing, especially in a dome and not in the cold which will help his ailing hip. The Colts contained Ray Rice that game, but he has been playing on another level for the past month or so and I pretty much expect about 125 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving and a TD from him. Conversely the Ravens held Addai in check and they should do the same again as Rush Defense has been their strong point almost the whole year.

Ravens are going to win this game. It wont be a blowout, and it might even be really low scoring.

Charles Woodson wins Defensive Player of the Year, and for some reason, it's seen as a controversial pick. Revis is the better cornerback, but Woodson was the better all-around defender this year. He had 27 more tackles than Revis (9 more tackles for a loss), 2 more sacks, and 7 more turnovers forced. Revis shut down some of the game's best receivers, but Woodson forced turnovers like no one else in the league.

Loose Cannon
01-12-2010, 02:59 PM
bullshit. Reves got robbed. he goes 1 on 1 with the TOP recievers in the game and almost single handedly won games for the Jets.

01-12-2010, 03:23 PM
I think I'd probably go with Revis too but I wouldn't say he got robbed. If it's MOST VALUABLE defensive player, I think Revis wins it by a mile but Woodson was flashier and did make more plays and put up stats. Revis just shut down guys like crazy though, preventing the QB from even testing him. Could have gone either way. If you really think Revis got robbed, then you have to agree that Nnamdi Asomugha should have won defensive player of the year at some point in the last few years. The man has shut down guys like that for years without nearly as much recognition.

Emperor Smeat
01-12-2010, 04:53 PM
I believe what might have tipped Woodson over Revis is his 3 INTs returned for touchdowns that tied with someone else. Basically 1 out of every 3 INTs he returned for a touchdown (33%).

She was hella good friends with him, and my uncle who lives here is probably the biggest Colts fan in the world. She talked to my uncle in the post office, and my uncle jokefully was like have him give me a call or something, I'll be a waterboy! ... She gave Caldwell my uncle's number, and Caldwell called our house. UNREAL. There was a message for my uncle on the answering machine, I could not believe it. My uncle called him back and they talked for like 10 minutes, and Caldwell offered him season tickets. Amazing. I respect him so much that he would take some time off, and call someone because they are such a huge fan. Of course, the lady also told Caldwell that my uncle was a season ticket holder, which is not true because he lives in Montana, but still fucking cool. Prolly never gonna delete that message off the machine, just because it is awesome. Sounds like a really nice, classy guy. I want the Colts to win the superbowl now.

The Ravens have never lost a road playoff game outside of Pittsburgh and I dont think thats going to change on Saturday night.

Saw these tidbits on walterfootball: (http://walterfootball.com/nflpicks2009_19early.php)

"There have been three occasions in Peyton Manning's career where he has rested for two weeks. The Colts averaged just 19.3 points after that - a low number for a Manning-led squad - and all three of those games were losses."

"Now, Manning's in even more trouble because he perennially struggles against 3-4 defenses in the playoffs. Just check these numbers out: Manning has played in 15 postseason contests. Against 4-3 formations, he's 6-3 (and on a 6-0 run). But when going up against a 3-4 base, he's just 1-5, which includes a loss against the Billy Volek-led Chargers at home in 2007."

"Since 2005, seven teams have won a road playoff game in Round 1. Those seven teams are a perfect 7-0 against the spread in Round 2. That's amazing."

I know the last tidbit is for betting purposes only, but the Ravens are 7 point dogs, sorta like they were last year when they went into Tennessee and clobbered the Titans.

Colts To Rest Starters For First Game Of Playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS—At his weekly press conference Monday, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell announced that he will rest key starters during the divisional round of the AFC playoffs to keep his players fresh for a Super Bowl run. "You can't win the Super Bowl if you don't get there with all your players healthy," said Caldwell, who added that next Saturday quarterback Peyton Manning would probably get the first two series, which will mostly be comprised of running plays. "Dwight [Freeney] and Dallas [Clark] will get about a quarter in the AFC Championship game. But honestly, even if we make it to the Super Bowl, I can't see playing these guys the whole game. The 2010 season is closer than you think." Throughout the entire press conference Manning could be seen in full uniform, stalking and pacing in the back of the room.

I'm not so sure Coughlin makes it to the end of next year if they have a slow start. If they're sub-.500 at their bye week next year I could see them making a change. Mara seemed pretty pissed off about the way the season ended, and deservedly so.

<font color=goldenrod>I think it would have to be a REALLY bad start for him to not see out the year, but that's just me. If they start out like 0-3 or 0-4 or something I think he'll be gone and the Giants will hope they can somehow salvage something out of the season.

And even then, they'll just get an interim guy to fill out the year, cause I don't see Cowher coming in mid-season.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>Cowher hasn't said it, but Jerome Bettis said in an interview that Cowher's told him several times that the Giants were always his ideal job and after a year off he was willing to go coach them in 2008...but of course the Giants won the Super Bowl in '07 instead so Coughlin got extended.

Given that Cowher and Bettis are close, you can put two and two together. Certainly a logical enough reason why Cowher's not returned to coaching yet despite getting offers.</font>

According to wikipedia, in 1993 the Giants favored Reeves as their primary choice. It seems he won over management by actually lobbying hard for the job. Management then believes because Reeves went beyond the normal process, he showed he really cared about being their coach compared to just viewing it as a job.

That was obviously the right call. The rule is stupid though because if the receiver holds onto the ball it's not a penalty. Regardless of how stupid it is, Ray knows the rule and he's an idiot for not adjusting.

<font color=goldenrod>Saints surprised me today. I said in the Playoffs thread that I thought they were gonna be one-and-done, but they proved me wrong. I know the Cards were banged up, but I don't think it would have made that much of a difference in the end.

I think the AFC Title game is gonna be really good next week no matter who emerges from that.

Fucking hate that I have to root for Brett Favre tomorrow.</font>

DrA
01-17-2010, 12:38 AM
I don't see how the Jets can defeat San Diego tomorrow, especially with that quarterback. They looked good against Cincinnati, but so would have the ten other teams in the playoffs had they had to play them. Plus you already had that rookie quarterback making it to the AFC championship well dried out last year.

I have been wrong before however (although not very much). Prove me wrong the New York Jets.

They are still on a VHF signal, AND they share a wave with a radio station (just a local issue), so they have to weaken their signal strength in order to come in 'underneath' that station.

So we, and most people around here, get HORRIBLE reception during prime hours. So right now, this game is unwatchable due to interference and overall shittyness of the network.

Wow the Chargers are the most anti-clutch franchise of all time, it's unreal. Doesn't help when you have LT on your team, has he honestly ever had a good game in the playoffs? Even an average game?

lol @ the chances of the Jets beating the Colts in the playoffs after the Colts let them into the whole thing. I highly doubt it will happen but you never know. I thought the Chargers were gonna beat the Jets but I wasn't as confident as I am with the Colts. Colts, in a meaningless game, had a lead on the Jets even tho the Jets were "fighting for their lives." It wasn't like they were crushing them but I felt like they were about to run away with it - only to put the JV QB in and hand the game away.

I really don't want to see either team win the Superbowl but I think the Jets would obviously be the better story. Plus I think they would be more entertaining during Superbowl week, with "characters" like Rex Ryan, Bart Scott and Braylon Edwards (maybe he will punch out one of DWade's boys in Miami).

At least I don't mind the teams in the NFC. Saints winning would be cool and are an exciting team to watch. I find this whole Favre thing hilarious and him winning the Superbowl would be the ultimate FUCK YOU to everyone. If the Vikings do lose I hope Favre at least has a good game so he doesn't ruin the big fuck you type of season he's had. Brett Favre 7 inceptions in 16 games? Come on man, he's just a kid out there having some fun playing the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no nails left. What a fuckin emotional ride that game was. From Leonard's interception, Shonn Greene's amazing TD run, and poor little rookie Mark Sanchez, goes in to one of the most intimidating places in the NFL and gets another play off win against all odds. The New York Jets are one game away from the Super Bowl :'(

Magic.
Since when is San Diego one of the most intimidating places in the NFL to play?

The lights are out? LT better be careful he doesn't bump into anything after pulling his annual playoff exit, hiding behind his tinted visor.

LIGHTS OUT on the Chargers

Sadly, people will continue to dick ride the Chargers as a Super Bowl contender for the next couple years. They just can't seem to do shit in the playoffs, and that's obviously when you have to play your best.

Great regular season team, terrible playoff team.

Tila Tequila must be San Diego's version of the Jessica Simpson jinx

The irony would be if Farve and the Vikings faced the Jets in the Superbowl mainly because how the Jets management and most fans blamed Farve for their late season slide last year. Not only would Green Bay look foolish for getting rid of Farve but also makes the Jets look foolish by proclaiming him washed up or a bad player like some Jets players said last season.

To be fair at least Green Bay gave him enough chances for him to make a decision each and knew they needed to give Rodgers playing time for him to develop as the team's future QB.

Didn't even factor in the Jets thing. Wow if Vikings beat the Jets in the Superbowl, THAT'S the ultimate fuck you. The only way that could be topped would be the Vikings beating the Packers on the way.

Did you hear how loud the place was yesterday? Of course it's intimidating, you've got 70,000 Mexicans on top of you. Health and safety probably turn a blind eye on the place because it's basically Mexico.

I'm not really bothered bit it as much as I should be. They had a bad night. Keading really fucked them over hard when he is usually their saving grace. No doubt Chargers are the better team for me, they just picked a really lousy fucking night not to show it.

Lol that's the point of the playoffs. Tests your ability to win in a one loss and you're out pressure situation. Once again, the Chargers failed. Did nobody tell you that 11 straight wins means fuck all in the postseason?

Still hasn't sunk in that the Jets are in the AFC Championship game. Gonna love hearing all week how we don't have a chance on Sunday.
