Ouch, CBS had a crazy stat on Titans-Patriots game. Just showed it as a graphic on screen and didn't bother to comment on it.

Collins pass completions = 2 , Brady TD passes = 6

CSL

Kinda reminds me of one time during a Saints game JB came in to do a "game break" and said "Tommy Maddox threw his second TD pass of the day toooooooooooo the Tennessee Titans"..

It was pretty "lol"..

Droford

Ok, WHO betted on the Raiders?

+15 points probably got someone to bet on them. i still can't believe they outright won, I figured the Eagles would just have a hard time covering 15 points but I never actually thought they'd lose.

Im going with a 4 team parlay next week that should definitely be a winner, or I'll quit being a degenerate gambler for the rest of the season:

Indy at St Louis
NE at TB by way of London
Green Bay at Cleveland
Philly at Washington MNF (despite being hosed by the Eagles today, its the Redskins who are quite possibly worse than the Raiders, though I might change my mind and just go with Indy/Ne/GB on principle)

The points for Indy and NE will be ridiculous, but Philly shouldnt be that big of a favorite.

Should have had at least 61. I mean I know it was a blow out but not calling it a safety when Vince Young got tackled in the endzone was pretty unreal. Reminded me of something I'd see in a high school JV game or something, not a NFL game.

Should have been a minimum of at least 3 games (1 for the hit, 1 for the ejection, & 1 for the brawl that occurred) and then go up or add fines to it.

The amazing part is how bad the person responsible for handing out the punishments describes it and yet its just 1 game.

Sooner or later, Jim Zorn's going to get canned like some cheap tuna. It could happen at any time, really. It could be at the end of the season, or it could be before I hit "publish" on this post, but it's happening.

According to one report, it would've happened already if Mike Shanahan was willing to take his job right now. Thomas George at FanHouse quotes "a Redskins management source" who says that the Redskins have already made a play for Shanahan, but that he didn't want the job in mid-season.

"Shanahan told the franchise there was little he could do in the middle of the season for them and that changing coaches during the season in the NFL rarely works,'' a Redskins management source told FanHouse. "Several people that Dan Snyder trusts have suggested, if he makes a move, he should turn it over to secondary coach Jerry Gray. That could still happen."

And what a treat that would be for Jerry Gray.

I don't know if I believe the report or not, but it doesn't seem unbelievable. Then again, there's not much that Dan Snyder could do that I would find shocking. It wouldn't shock me if he hired Shanahan. It wouldn't shock me if he hired Wayne Fontes. It wouldn't shock me if he took over as head coach himself. It wouldn't shock me if he traded for Vince Young(notes) and named him player/coach.

The Redskins play the Eagles on Monday night, then head into a bye week. My best guess for the timing of Zorn's firing is Monday night around midnight.

So The Govenator gives the green light to build a 75,000 seat stadium outside of L.A. Chargers, Raiders, and 49ers are on the list of seven teams to be approached to see who will make the move.

So football fanatics, which team is due for a change of scenery? And, who do you think are the other 4 teams?

Emperor Smeat
10-22-2009, 06:35 PM
Would be crazy to move the 49ers since that team is an "elite" NFL team in terms of history. It would be like moving the Bulls out of Chicago post-Jordan. Also don't really see the Raiders with their decent fan base or the Rams with their decent support as a sports town loosing their teams.

Its probably going to end up the Jaguars leaving regardless if they get Tebow or not since most pro sports don't work well in Florida (except for Dolphins and maybe the Heat).

thank god ralph wilson is still alive or else it would be buffalo.

I dont think jacksonville will move.

If anything else happens with the coaching staff at oakland, then I see them moving back down there.

The state of michigan might form a milita and march on the rest of the united states if they take the lions.

St. Louis is a good chance too.

I can see san diego a little bit too.

Unless it is one of the cities like jacksonville or buffalo you can expect an expansion team in the next 5 years once they move a team.

If they expand they would need to get it to 36 teams pretty quick or else it would be messed up like it was before the Texans came in with an odd number of teams. I doubt they would expand in this economy BUT if any of the major leagues could pull it off it would be the NFL. Maybe an International Contingent with Toronto/London/Mexico City/Some other City in Europe

3 6 Team Divisions per Conference with the playoffs being the top 2 in each division and no Wild Card teams. The 3rd #1 seed would play the worst of the #2 seeded teams and the other 2 #2 seeded teams play each other. Best 2 #1 teams get byes just like now. Yay for going back to AFC/NFC East/Central/West as well. 18 Game schedule implemented as well. Each team in the division twice, plus all 5 of the same final standing in division teams from the previous year just like now, plus one additional team from the opposite conference's 3 divisions making for an even 12 In Conference Games and 6 Out of Conference Games (similar to 12 and 4 now)

Only problem would be the traveling to and from Europe each week depending which teams are in the division with London. More likely to have multiple Canadian/Mexican teams than European teams since it would be cheaper to travel and quicker to move around from city to city.

Even that would be another issue in how much the CFL would allow its Canadian fan base to split support from its own league with NFL during the season.

This

I don't want a team here. It just wouldn't work. Unfortunately every time it gets mentioned it results in the most retarded, xenophobic elements of the NFL fanbase coming out chest thumping and flag waving about "their" football, but to be quite honest apart from the logistics of it all the sport is not big enough here yet to support a full time team. We don't even have MNF right now because the TV rights cost more than any channel is willing to pay for a program that will be shown at like 1am, taking into consideration the falling ad revenue that is occurring everywhere. It sucks but it's the reality of the world we live in right now.

They're talking about having more than one game a season here, I don't want that either. It will a) take the shine off the one game that we actually get (even though tomorrow is going to be an asskicking of epic proportions, unlike the great game last year), most people won't be able to afford multiple games, especially in the current economy, and when people start picking and choosing which games they go to, overall attendances will fall and the whole thing will just end up falling away. One game a year is fine.

You get 4 chances to go 10 yards, if you get 10 (or more) yards, you get another 4 chances to go 10 more yards. If you don't make it in 3, though, you usually punt it away or kick a field goal if you are close enough, because otherwise the other team will get the ball where you left it. Field goals are when you kick the ball into the big yellow goal post thing. They are worth 3 points. When you reach the endzone at the end of the field you get 6 points and then you kick the extra point which is a mad easy field goal to make it 7. You can go for a 2-point conversion which is one chance to get a touchdown from 5 yards away I think. That has a much lower success rate though so teams usually only go for it when they need two points to tie the game or to be trailing by a convenient amount such as 7.

El Fangel
10-24-2009, 01:00 PM
Ok, so let me get this straight then.

Game starts between say Patriots and Giants (first two teams came to mind)

Giants win coin toss so they go first.

They get 4 chances to gain 10 yards and gain 15 (putting them at the 65 yard line) they then get another 4 chances and punt it to the 80 yard line.

Then the Patriots start at their 20 yard line (80 years from the opposite TD zone)?

So regular field goals are worth 3 points and ones after touch downs are 1 point?

Or they could choose to do a conversion and try to get the ball 5 yards to the TD zone again?

So regular field goals are worth 3 points and ones after touch downs are 1 point?

Or they could choose to do a conversion and try to get the ball 5 yards to the TD zone again?
Gonna help u

First of all the field is 100 yards long and "midfield" is at the 50 yard line, so the field is basically like

endzone-10-20-30-40-50-40-30-20-10-endzone

If one team has 90 yards to go until the other endzone, then they are on their own 10 yard line, and if they are on the other 10 yard line then it is just called the other team's 10 yard line, not the 90 yard line

The game starts with one team kicking the ball off from their side of the field to a dude on the other team who catches it and tries to run it back as far as he can. Where he gets tackled is where his team's offense starts from. It is possible to score a touchdown on the kickoff return.

When the offense starts it is always "first and ten" unless there is some penalty that puts them back a little but don't worry about that. So it is first down and they need ten yards for another first down. If they get five yards, it becomes "second and five." Then say they gain 20 yards, it becomes first and ten again. If it becomes fourth down and they are not in range for a field goal, they usually punt, and again a dude on the other team catches it and tries to run it back. Then the other team goes on offense.

they would never have a team in the NFL in europe

Roger Goodell has been the primary backer of NFL Football going to Europe which is why they started playing games in London a couple years ago and why they will play 2 games there next year. Its going to happen eventually though it might be 10+ years away, or it might be sooner if a team like St Louis or Jacksonville gets moved. Supposedly they are also in talks to play a regular season game somewhere in Germany in 2011/2.

Also, the biggest issue with NFL Football is that its measured in yards. 3 feet to a yard! Screw your meters/metric system measurements!

I feel bad for the Brits that the game in London every year ends up sucking and is in no way indicative of how good NFL football can be. It's a shame that the NFL season is so hard to predict that you don't know who's going to be good at that point...Pats/Bucs would've seemed like a halfway decent game in the offseason, but the Patriots seemed to be extremely average up until last week and the Bucs will be lucky to win more than 3 or 4 games this year. The NFL's only hope is that Tom Brady goes off for another 5 or 6 TD passes or something to get the crowd interested in the offense.

Edit: In terms of the other games this week, Niners/Texans should be a decent game featuring Mike Crabtree's debut, Bears/Bengals is a game between teams that seem to be the second best team in their divisions, and Falcons/Cowboys shouldn't be bad, either. I also think Saints/Dolphins could be a potential upset if New Orleans isn't ready to deal with the wildcat.

I just can't see a team properly locating to Europe unless they fucked with the schedules big time.

NFL is still discussing whether or not to expand the season to 17 or 18 games. If they opt to go with 17, I say everybody should play one neutral site game...not all in the same week, spread out throughout the year. You can get some European games, a game in Mexico, a game or two in Canada, and even let some American states like Alabama have a game.

Hell, even if they upped it to 18 they could potentially have every team play TWO neutral site games...one within the country and another outside. Could net the NFL some big bucks from cities bidding for a game, plus it doesn't cheat any teams out of a home game.

6-3-0

They have a young superstar in Zach Parise. Travis Zajac is rather good, Brodeur is solid as he always is, bad thing is in a few years when he is out they have no visible signs of a replacement.

Also, they have a rather poor defense and for a team that for years has been centered around defense this is far from good.

NE at TB by way of London
Green Bay at Cleveland
Philly at Washington MNF (despite being hosed by the Eagles today, its the Redskins who are quite possibly worse than the Raiders, though I might change my mind and just go with Indy/Ne/GB on principle)

I live in CT and I'm pretty sure every single Cowboys game has been on in my area. Fuck this America's Team bullshit.

Well if you're in the Giants market then you get Giants' divisional opponents' games.

That was always a pain in the ass for me because the Bengals would play at 1 and then instead of getting Colts/Pats, we'd get Browns/Ravens at 4.

I've seen Maualuga's, but one of them looks like they've got a small Cousin It on their back. Pretty sure that's Peko right?

Is that actually how it works? I always thought it was just you get whatever team your market is in (in my case every week I see the Giants, Jets, and Pats) and then any extra slots are just filled with the "most popular" game at that time is.

Then again I guess that explains why even if the Cowboys had already played or play the night game I see the Bills instead cause it's also the Jets market.

Yeah that's how it works. That's why I sadly get plenty of Colts, Titans and Jaguars games

Benson is going fucking ballistic out there. He needs to calm down cause he's not gonna be able to keep this pace in the 2nd half.

Christ, you're right. Cedric's gonna kill himself, but he'll die with like 300 yards rushing
