Not that I'm saying Gaffney's TD was a catch or not, but has anyone else noticed a lot of instances of refs screwing up instant replay calls this year? I can think of several examples, most recently with that final Browns TD against the Cardinals where the AZ defender clearly hit Edwards leg and the ref went to the replay and still called it a touchdown. Maybe it's not specific to this season but I've noticed it a lot this year.

Harrison was talking shit to him about Boller throwing an int and I guess that was Billick's chosen response.

Harrison was on ESPN talking about it, and he said after Billick blew him a kiss he told him he was a happily married man lol

Harrison was on ESPN talking about it, and he said after Billick blew him a kiss he told him he was a happily married man lol
Did he say why he was talking trash to Billick and what he was saying?
Cause the way I saw it, Harrison was being a dumbass trash talking the coach and Billick's reaction was pretty hilarious.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
12-04-2007, 02:50 PM
Harrison said he had some "not so kind things" to say about his QB and that was Billick's reaction.
There was a lot shit talking going on all game but I have no idea why Harrison went over to a coach instead of somebody actually in the game, maybe they have a past history or something I have no idea

I wish the Ravens won that. They shot themselves in the foot at the end, but they played really well all game. I honestly think the Patriots are high on themselves, thats why these teams are coming close, when I don't really think they have any business being that close.

Maybe I don't watch enough of the Pats to know, but was Colvin that big of a part of their run defense? I've seen a few games. I mean, knowing the Pats history they have good depth, mix of veterans, young talent so you would think they have someone to fill the void.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
12-04-2007, 11:30 PM
They don't really have good depth at the LB spot though. With Colvin on the IR, Adelius Thomas is forced to move to the outside from the inside, thus making Seau and Bruschi play every snap, instead of splitting time.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them switch to a 4-3 because I really don't know how they can get it done with the 3-4.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
12-04-2007, 11:49 PM
Well it is now, it was really fine with Colvin in there tho. Now I have no idea, I guess they resigned Chad Brown but I'm not a big fan of that guy at all. I really wish they had some younger guy they've been modeling or something but I guess you can't have it ALL, so I can't really complain that much

Falcons Tied for the 2nd draft pick. If we lose every single game we'll be OKAY. Krispy we gonna give the Saints some work, we might not win but they gonna have some work.
No I really think its because of the loss of Colvin, they are gonna continue to get gashed up on the ground if they don't figure something out.
Honestly, i said the Pats run D was very questionable before they played the Colts and then Addai gashed them for 114 running and 100+ recieving and a TD. I think its just been covered up really well cause they were blowing teams out and no one had the time to run the ball on them. Now they're playing some close games and its started to be exposed a bit.
Also, i think the cold weather in Foxboro might play against them in the playoffs. Everyone is started to figure RAndy Moss out a bit and i think he'll have problems catching the deep ball when its 20 degrees and slick. If they shorten up that passing game, that plays into the Colts defense. Should be intresting. I think they'll have problems honestly. I think they'd be better off playing in the RCA dome.
Also, i'm not sure who i'm rooting for next week. On one hand, its pretty unrealistic to think the Colts will get the number 1 seed considering the Pats still have the OOOO so tough Jets and Dolphins on the schedule at home. So i'm kinda thinking i should root for the Pats so they can knock the Steelers down another game and help us sure up the 2nd seed. But its probably going to take alot of medications and alcohol and pot to get me to root for the Pats. I'm very conflicted about this matchup.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
12-05-2007, 10:32 AM
like 79 of those receiving yards came on one fluke play, plus Addai is a good back so I can't really fault them for giving up 114 yards on the ground either.

VonErichLives
12-06-2007, 12:44 PM
ok, was away on vacation... only caught the end of the game...
Where to start..
Yeah, Pittsburg scares me more then any other team they've played because history has always played out that a good defense beats a good offense.
Pats run D didn't worry me against the Colts (sorry RP) it was a strategy to let Addai go and key on the pass... and then won so I'll say it worked... that being said with Colvin out I'm worried for the reasons Stima has said.
Anthony Smith, yeah... Mike & Mike said the same thing RP did... and Smith talked about how he always wins... he was on a like 3 win syracuse team or sumthin... I'm willing to bet some of his teamates aren't to happy with him.
The Ravens game, great game... if the Ravens had an issue with being called "boy" that's fine, but all those 4th down calls were legit... Billick called the time out "Sure, and if I hadn't and they got the 1st down...", the holds were holds... no question... But what a great game... even that hail mary at the end. I love how now everyone thinks their is a conspiracy the NFL wants the Pats to win... yeah right... Harrison put it best on the post game when asked about why they almost lost "They physically man to mean beat us up all game" and he didn't mean that as in "not enough penalties" he meant the Ravens out muscled the Pats.
I dunno what's up with this team lately... a little older, but still Wilfork, Seymore, the list goes on... they got physically beat all game long...
Does Pittsburg scare me? sure... of course I'll still pick the Pats... A lot of great teams have "lulls" during the season where they either win close or lose close and it's a wake-up call...
I think the spread opened around 12, it's now like 10... that's silly... spread should be a lot closer, that's not giving the steelers enough credit for that Defense.
anyone know how Polomolu is for the game? if he's out that makes a big difference.

I'm just so sick and tired of hearing Mercury Morris... I mean, maybe ESPN is paying him in Coke or he's getting paid for sound bites and has old lawyer bills... but christ... just shut-up already.
I mean, I respect Griese, even Shula... I don't agree with everything he said, openly cheering for a team or against during a broadcast is little ugly. but I still respect him...
but, as an unamed patriot said on a local show today "isn't that the guy convicted of drug trafficking", which morris was, it was overturned 3yrs leater on a technicality, re-tried and he plea-bargined.

Freaking Kellen Clemens OBV scores on a sneak, but mangenious doesn't challenge but gets 1st and goal from the 1 inch line. Then proceeds to run 3 times with Jones for gains of 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, and loss of 1/8 inch. And on 4th and 1/2 inch, Clemens throws an INT. J E T S JEST JEST JEST
Also what the hell was Mangini thinking, down by 5, 4th and 5 from Clevleands 15, less than 2 minutes left, and he kicked the field goal because he thought there was a better chance of recovering ANOTHER onside kick and getting a field goal than there was of converting a 4th and 5.

There really is no team more fun to beat then the steelers... I mean, I enjoy the Colts rivalry, but I respect most of the players and even like some of them... the Steelers are idiots.
I also love how after Rothlesburger through the int the coach basiclly took the ball out of his hands in the 2nd half... way to have faith in your QB and try and win the game.
I also hope the NFL fines that guy for the cheap shot near the end on the kick off (or maybe it was a punt) there is no room in the nfl for shit like that, people get injured enough in live plays...

The Steelers are a fucking joke tbh. Anthony Smith should be cut tommorow.
They beat themselves...it should've been closer than that. Smith needs to really improve and watch some tapes before he runs his mouth.
Personally, I think he was taken out of context, though. He actually said if their team performs as well as he knows they can, then he can guarantee a win (though nothing about THAT part of the quote was ever said).
That third quarter they played was a joke, though, I'll agree with that. They can play MUCH better than that, and they should've stayed with Davenport (he can be fucking money if you let him).
Oh, and is it me, or should've that entire Moss/Brady flea flicker be called an incomplete pass the second Moss juggled it? I'm not sure of the rule on that, but I'm pretty sure it hit the ground, and the refs never blew the whistle (and Tomlin, I think, made a huge mistake of not even considering a challenge on that one, because I think he could've won that). Would that've been an incomplete pass or Moss recovering a fumble? If it's an incomplete pass, the Pats got away with a BIG one. I may be hated on for asking this, but what the fuck, I'm asking anyway, so NOW WHAT?!

Smith is an idiot and I hope his teammates gave him a blanket party, heck even Farrior took a shot at him after he said it.
and yes, he went on to say "if we play as good as we...." but that was after the gaurantee... and he talked about how he's always been a winner... christ sake.. he's only started 4 games due to injury... then to make it worse in the pre-game he went up to Brady and talked shit... how great was it they kept throwing at him.
oh and the Moss play was a fumble, for it to be an incomplete pass it would have been forward in which case Moss throwing it back and Brady throwing it both would have been illegal fwd laterals... so, actually one of the few things Tolmin did right was not challenge that play.
Originally, I figured Pats v. Steelers re-match for the AFC championship, but after that game... I see little reason the Colts wont destroy them...

19 TD passes from Brady to Moss, the most ever from one QB to one WR in a single season.
Also, Brady is very close to breaking the single season TD pass, QB rating and completion percentage records. He is also like 900 or so yards from catching Dan Mario's single season yardage record, could be a pretty big record breaking year depending on how the Patriots play these last few games.

They dont really haev any players that are top star quality (off the field) that would get tons of people from other places buying their jerseys. Fans are fickle, and they will buy whomever they see on TV, and Until Holy holds out or shoots someone, his jersey sales will be shit. Stephen Jackson could be the guy to change that though.

They won a superbowl and went to a second which is more then a lot of people can say.
As for Merch Sales, you have the historical favs, then who's hot now... I mean the raiders can go 0-16 and will be one of the tops every year. That being said, I don't know if they ever changed it, but Merch sales used to be split evenly... so if the Rams sell 10mil or 1mil they get the same as every other team.

Again this is a BUSINESS. You can have your preconceived notions about being a man and honor and all that fairy tale stuff that doesn't exist in the business world. The fact is Petrino was in a shitty situation, and a job he would rather have appeared for him to take. Had he waited til the end of the season, the offer wouldn't be there anymore. Didn't he lose a bet? what was it, change that tag for like 1day? At least when you, me, trips, RP make bets we honor it... usually through the seasons end and sometimes to the next season.
But in all fairness... he ranks NFL players based on Madden, He thought the NFL sentenced Vick to Jail and he's 12... so we should probably go easy on him..
I don't see how the fact that LA has yet to get another team means it was a good business move to leave.
1) I fail to see how it was a bad business move on her part. Clearly she got a great deal to move to STL and the performance of the team has little to do with it's location.
2) If LA is always talked about as this great football market and she made a bad business decision by leaving, then why hasn't a team gone back? Expansion or a moved team...
I just don't see the argument as to how it was a bad business deicison, the only thing brought up was Merchandise sales... The Raiders are one of the top every year, it has little to do with their teams performance, has a lot to do with it being popular gang colors and even still it's a moot point because (unless it changed and I missed it) NFL Merchandise sales are pool'ed and split evenly. This was the whole basis of Al Davis Law Suit againt the NFL, the Raiders sold so much do to the popular colors and the gang use he didn't want to split the funds, it's like the NFL had (maybe still does) a deal with Pepsi and it was for every single stadium in the NFL and Jerry Jones went and struck a deal with Coke for his stadium...
So, yeah, I don't see how she made a bad business decision and is a bad owner... but I'm open to hearing reasons to prove otherwise, maybe she's done a lot I don't know about... maybe they're always 50% under the cap, or she spend money for a good coach (who wouldn't have known Martz was a great #2 but a horrible head coach...)...

He was supposed to keep it a week..
I don't really care because the oldest NFL rivalry in the South is getting dominated by the Saints, and by the looks of it, will be for a long time..
Fuck the Falcons..

Also, SammyG, I don't feel your offensive line matches up well to us. If STL scores a touchdown tomorrow...my money would not be on it being by the offense.

Hmmmmm. Interesting.
There's a rumor going around that Wayne Huizenga might be selling the Dolphins.
Look at the top jersey sales, all shit boxes
Vick
Owens
Moss (Although he is seemingly changed)
LT sells well because he broke records and the powder blues are fucking sweet.
Rams need a new uniform scheme.
How has Moss changed, but not Owens, you inconsistent dyke.

stupid SF... they're not supposed to win... not with our 1st round pick on the line.
That being said, there is already a rumor about the pick say top 5, going to Miami for later picks and Jason Taylor...
pardon me while I blow my load on the idea of Taylor in a Patriot Uniform playing OLB.

Wow..that's actually not a bad trade..depends what future pick though..stupid Dolphins will probably throw in next years #1 and the Pats will be in the same situation. But Taylor and a couple of 2nd rounders or something like that wouldn't be that bad.

Dunno, he's going to be 34 next season and the Phins aren't close to winning... have a 34yr old star or two top 5 picks?
Also, Welker has been great with how NE has used him, but would he have made that much of a diffeence in Miami vs. the 2nd round pick they got? They took a Center who is starting for them now...
I wouldn't do it for a top 5 pick unless NE gets a few picks with it.
You also may have a situation where Taylor wants a trade because he wants a shot at a Superbowl before he hangs it up.
