I'm waiting til the end of the game to comment about the Bengals D because it's far too entertaining right now.

Giants looking capable of going 0 and fucking 16 atm
So do the Aints..

Gonzo

The Giants defense is fucking ridiculous. Absolutely terrible. TE's and WR's just run around the LB's and DB's. Such a joke. I can't even fault the offense because I can't expect them to go out and score 35 points a game, it just doesn't work like that. Maybe a fucking stop or two would be nice.

Supreme Olajuwon
09-16-2007, 04:55 PM
well... that was fun

this was once again the Bengals buying into their own hype

once people start giving them praise the defense completely stops trying. It happened 3 separate times last year and it just happened again today. Carson Palmer deserves a lot better than this from his defense. It's sad because he'll never be the legend he's talented enough to become with that defense constantly letting him down. They need to write him an apology letter and bake him a cake or something.

Mr. Monday Morning

49ers won't do anything while they can't make 200 yards on offence. They should've lost that game, they made some very bad/weird decisions towards the end of the game, like leaving the sidelines open when the Rams are in the 2 minute drill :wtf:

I don't even know where to start.. Actually, I do.. Our d-backs are f'n horrid.. I have no idea why we have mediocre DB's yet still use man coverage.. As I saidf earlier, I was a t work so I only caught bits and piece of the game but our Offense didn't do much of shit either..

I don't know what to tell you..

Specially now that the Detroit Lions are 2-0..

they should just cancel the rest of the season and have the Colts vs. Pats for the AFC championship now.

I guess we'll see you again after week 9. Until then the talk is going going to be the two unbeatens teams getting closer and closer to their show-down.

So, what are the odds the Jets go 0-16?

I don't see 0-16, 2-14 or 3-13 wouldn't shock me...

you might beat the Giants, maybe KC last game of the season, 2 vs buffalo and 2 vs miami you should win one of those 4, maybe even 2...

yeah, you're looking at 3-13 or 4-14...

What's the story with the Ed Hochuli thing? It's one of my buddies away messages too (I missed the game last night I was at Fenway)

UmbrellaCorporation
09-17-2007, 04:16 PM
Basically this.

On a bizarre play in the second quarter, referee Ed Hochuli perfectly summed up what Chargers fans see from fullback Lorenzo Neal on a week to week basis.

An official initially penalized Neal for holding on a LaDainian Tomlinson run but decided to pick up the flag when he realized no foul had been committed.

“There is no foul for holding on the play,” Hochuli said through the public address system. “The defender was just overpowered.”

It was pretty ROFL. Not big on the fact that he called him out, but Hochuli is just awesome.

Still so happy about the Pats winning last night. Can't help it.

So, the Mangini fan club is building.

I'll expect we see more of this from older coaches who feel Mangini handeled it wrong and is a big Rat.

Billick: Jets 'illegally' simulated snap count Sunday
By DAVID GINSBURG, AP Sports Writer
September 17, 2007

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- Ravens coach Brian Billick accused the New York Jets of using an "illegal" ploy to draw Baltimore offside during Sunday's game.

Billick said Monday that the Jets' defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Baltimore offense. Billick claimed the tactic led to the three illegal procedure penalties against the Ravens.

"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."

Tackle Adam Terry bolted offside in the first and third quarters. Tight end Quinn Sypniewski jumped in the first quarter.

"That's not an excuse by any stretch of the imagination. But it is illegal," Billick said. "Our guys have to deal with it. I don't know how to help my linemen with that because, you're in the heat of battle and you're calling the snap count, and the guy across from you is also calling a snap count -- which is illegal."

The Ravens won the game 20-13. Baltimore took a 20-3 lead into the fourth quarter but nearly wilted under a comeback by the Jets, who benefited from four fourth-quarter penalties against Baltimore.

For the game, New York received two penalties for 10 yards and the Ravens were penalized 11 times for 100 yards.

"You have to look at the nature of the penalties. First off, the fact that we had 11 penalties and they only had two and we dominated the game," Billick said. "I have a hard time understanding that the team that was playing so well and dominating had so many penalties and the other team had only two."

So Donovan McNabb is saying he, along with other black QB, are unfairly scrutinized because they are black.

Article here (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3025308).

Ya know, I really used to like McNabb, he was one of my favorite QBs in the league. But to sit there and play the race card to try and defend your poor play and how growingly apparent it is that you just can't get it done anymore...I don't know. I think he's digging himself into a hole. I wonder what he's going to be spewing out when the Eagles are 1-5 or 0-6 and Kolb is named the starting QB.

I heard McNabb's comments on ESPN radio on the way home today. I got a bit of deja vu, didn't he say something similar before? Probably just mistaken. Its pretty easy to make a blanket statement that black QB's are more heavily scrutinized. I'd love to hear his explanation for that.

Mercury Bullet
09-18-2007, 06:24 PM
I think it's just this, McNabb is on the decline and like most people in his situation he is shoveling off the blame. A lot of people would probably just blame teammates or the coach, McNabb has just decided to play the race card. In his mind its not that he isn't playing well, it's just the media views his performance more negatively because he is black, and black quaterbacks are always viewed negatively.

Which is a complete load of crap.

Now McNabb is an idiot for saying this, everyone was loving him last year when he was tearing it up before he got hurt.

And I'd like to find out who sorts out the favourites for Yahoo!'s pick 'em. How is KC favoured over ANYBODY, let alone Minnesota, who's only strength is their run D? It's not like KC has any offense whatsoever that isn't named Larry Johnson. How does anyone expect KC to even compete?

STFU

We're just having the same problems we had last year in a weak d-back corp, the only difference is our offense hasn't gotten in rhythem.. Also, our front four hasn't pressured the QB's enough.. But, Manning and Garcia are nortorious for having a quick release and not allowing sacks..

It's all good.. We lost two games in a row last year also and still made the championship game..

What I don't get is, the Redskins were 1st and goal at the 2 with like just under a minute left. They spiked the ball on first down. Why? You don't know for sure that you're going to run out of time from the first down, especially with nearly a minute left at the 2. Plenty of time. They should have played down 1 and 2, then if necessary spike it on 3rd. On that occasion it wasn't necessary, so they just automatically gave up a down straight away which they would have actually had enough time to use.

And WTF is with using all 3 timeouts in the 3rd quarter, and also going for it on 4th down on Jacksonville's 9? Stupid.

Good luck next week.

Honestly, even as a cowboys fan, I really wanted the game to just end after the Returned touchdown from Anthony Henry. I felt real bad for Grossman.

There are uncorroborated rumors making the rounds that Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall was beat up, presumably by one or more teammates, following a Falcons loss that was fueled in part by Hall's inability to control his emotions.

After being flagged for a total of 37 yards on a second-half drive that the Panthers used to tie the game, Hall got into a sideline confrontation with coach Bobby Petrino.

Hall is an overrated DB. In both senses.

I fell asleep during the first quarter of the Cowboys game. However, waking up eight hours later, I am most pleased by the results.

I'll fucking say it. Dallas Clark is the best TE in the league. The man is numbers.

I don't disagree with you. This guy has blossomed into his own as of late.

I love Dallas Clark. Best TE in the league indeed.

He isn't the best..it's just cuz he plays with Manning. Winslow is better.

Winslow is nowhere near better  . But it does help that Clark has Manning throwing lasers on a rope down the middle of the field and hitting him in stride.

Gates is also better

Yeah how anybody could say Gates isn't the best TE in the league is beyond me

Behind him Clark, Witten, Tony Gonzalez, Vernon Davis, Chris Cooley, Todd Heap, Alge Crumpler and maybe even Winslow could make a case for #2

edit- Shockey too I guess

Certainly helps having probably the best QB of all time throwing to you. They make each other better by default.

Happy about the Giants victory this past weekend. I think we really needed this (well obviously) for 1. some self esteem and 2. being a tough division matchup heading into 3. a sunday night divisional matchup. I realy hope we can gain some momentum heading into next Sunday night's game against Philly.

Dallas Clark is a perfect TE for a Pass happy system with a HOF QB, so his numbers are inflated. He is still a great TE though, not downing his overall skill, but you cant judge on his numbers alone. I also dont think he is a solid enough blocker to be considered a top 5 all around. He is top 3 receiving.

Top 5 Overall?

Shockey- Best Blocker IMO and if he had a solid QB *could* catch for 1000.
Crumpler - Same, not big numbers but like a 3rd tackle.
Gonzalez - He is the measuring stick for TE's. changed the posistion back to a recieving threat.
Winslow - Super Under-rated. If he played in a nig market he would be huge.
Gates - Is helping change the posistion again.

It may be a homer pick but I put Watson in the top group... the Pats always spread the ball around and they use him to block a lot, but ability wise he's probably top 3 and if he was in a system like Indy would put up old-school Gonzalez numbers.
