.

The Colts still haven't proved they can win in the playoffs outside of the dome, plus w/o Freeny makes that defense a lot different. Although, when the Pats didn't have Seymore they still beat the Colts so I'll give the Colts the same credit that it wont effect them, which puts me back to point 1.

They beat the Ravens in Baltimore last year in the 2nd round. They beat them playing smash mouth football. I think that counts.

You did say he's as good as Trent Dilfer though...

Holy smokes Patrick Willis had 20 tackles, 2 sacks, and a FF this week...all the Washington sports media saying London Fletcher shoulda made the pro bowl instead of him

This has to be the best defensive rookie season of all time. He's had two games of 17 solo tackles and then this game. Just insane.

Yeah Patrick Willis is insane. I can't believe the Rams and the Niners did so shitty this year. Fuck.

Willis has had a great season, it's not like he came out of no where though. He was doing work while playing for garbage team in college and was still able to be a top 10 pick. Unfortunately for him his streak of being on garbage teams is gonna continue, really can't see the Niners being much better next season.

Kris P Lettus
12-27-2007, 03:00 PM
Yeah, atleast not with their head coach throwing their starting QB under the bus and their starting QB throwing more incompletions than accurate passes..

Hey i dunno, but if i were the Patriots, i wouldnt get beat by Eli Manning and the Giants Saturday. Thats all i'm saying.

Honestly if they do it won't make any difference on the playoffs... it's being undefeated in the playoffs that counts.

That and the Giants have nothing to play for, so I doubt you'll see much of the starters after the 1st half.

They beat the Ravens in Baltimore last year in the 2nd round. They beat them playing smash mouth football. I think that counts.

1) that's 1 game.
2) If was low 60's with light rain and the won with 5 field goals 15-6.

Taking nothing away from what the Colts did last year, but drop it to the 20-30's and put snow/wind and it's a different game for a dome team.

yes, we all know the Colts won the superbowl in an outdoor stadium... of course that was Miami... not quite the same as a cold/snowy climate.

"that's all I'm saying".

you're right. What the hell am i thinking. Trent Dilfer's won a Superbowl. He's almost Trent Dilfer. Almost.

Then you say "he's as good as Trent Dilfer WAS"

I mean, we could compare stats from this season but... my God, would that really be necessary?

On top of that, Dilfer didn't win the Super Bowl... arguably the most dominant defense of all time won the Super Bowl. Garrard this year is better than Dilfer ever was.

Also, I don't think Favre would be considered injury prone.

WOW I just realized Favre would be a crazy face if he beat the Pats in the superbowl. Good guy for life.

That would be possibly the greatest story in the history of pro sports.

The washed up, over the hill, once great legend comes back for one more season and leads his team to a super bowl where he defeats the seemingly unbeatable greatest team of all time to win the super bowl and then retire and walk off into the sunset.

It won't happen but if it did, it would be unreal.

I'd rank the top 3 potential Superbowl scenarios like this...

3) Cowboys vs Patriots

2) Manning vs Manning

1) Farve beating the Pats

Yah. Honestly, i'd die a happy sports fan to see something incredible happen like the Pats being up 28-3 in the first half against the Packers and in the second half Farve goes crazy and throws 5 td's including the game winning TD with like 13 seconds to go. That would be so unreal. I cant think of something that more unreal. I think a Manning vs Farve shoot out would be brilliant ( infact i know it would based on there last meeting ), but it couldnt even touch Farve bring the Pack from behind and beating the Pats. That would be too good. I'd officially consider myself spoiled as a sports fan.

After the Saints season is over, which it pretty much already is because the Brokeback Cowboys are gonna sit their starters against the Skins and with how the Broncos looked against the Chargers, I think Adrian Peterson and their D are gonna eat Cutler alive, I am pulling for Favre to get another ring..

I am a huge Favre mark..

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Colts and safety Bob Sanders have agreed to a contract extension that makes Sanders the highest-paid safety in the NFL.

Per Mortensen, the deal is a five-year, $37.5 million contract with $20 million guaranteed.

Sanders' return from an injury was a huge part of the postseason defensive turnaround that led Indianapolis to a Super Bowl title a year ago, and he was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Still, this is a risky move for the Colts. Injuries have limited Sanders to just 38 games in his four-year career, and the Colts already have a lot of money tied up in a few high-priced players.

With Sanders under contract, the Colts can now focus on a new deal for tight end Dallas Clark, who becomes a free agent after the season. Clark is likely to get the franchise tag if he and the team can't reach an agreement on a contract extension.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The NFL has fined official Jim Quirk one game check for inappropriate physical contact with players, including Green Bay Packers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/greenbaypackers/profile?team=GB) linebacker Nick Barnett (http://www.nfl.com/players/nickbarnett/profile?id=BAR443417).

The fine totals $8,150, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Friday.

The decision came after Quirk grabbed Barnett by the neck and threw him to the ground while breaking up a scuffle during the Packers' loss at Chicago on Sunday.

"It made my day the minute they began to address it," Barnett's agent, Chuck Price said Friday.

Still hilarious that Barnett gets taken out by a ref.

Orlando Brown of the Browns took one to the eye...

He missed like 4yrs and then tried a comeback.

If I recall he said the added reason that caused him to flip out was his dad or someone close was blind or legally blind or something that ran in the family but skipped him.

and Brady would have 70 if he had 9 dome games...

Although, the year Manning broke it, something happened in the 2nd round of the playoffs... oh yeah, they lost... so maybe it's a good sign if Brady doesn't... on second thought, it was the Pats in Foxboro that beat them, so the record probably had little to do with it.

the record possible being broken that was really amazing is
rice TD catch record... the fact he set it in a strike game in 12games is amazing.

and I don't mean it's amazing Moss may break it in 4 more games, I mean that Rice set it in 12.

hey so question for you Giants fans...

4th qtr, tied game.

Coughlin keeps all the starters in because he wants to be the guy to make them 15-1 not 16-0.

A win does NOTHING for the Giants, there playoff destinty is set (thats what espn says, not sure if could change an NFC championship host if there are upsets).

Eli or Stahan or some really good Giant player gets injured, but the beat NE.

Next week, w/o Eli they get killed by Tampa Bay.

Sorry, I just don't see coughlin risking it for a game that doesn't help them any.

Then again, this is the same guy who had pro's complaining to the union about his training camps and used to (not sure if he still does) have a rule coaches couldn't wear sunglasses on the sideline, felt it was a sign of weakness.

People keep saying the Jags can beat the Pats but I just don't see it. Yeah they have a badass defense but I really think the only way a team can win is if they match the Pats on offense. I don't think Garrard can do that. We saw what happened when teams with great defenses and game manager QBs played the Pats (Philly, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, NY Giants): the Pats still scored and the other offenses couldn't keep up. The only way the Pats will lose is if a big game QB steps up and his defense gives him a chance. That leaves Indy, Green Bay, Dallas and maaaaaaaaaaaaybe Seattle.

I don't know the detail of the injuries, but didn't your starting Center, LB and DB go down?

That being said, one hell of a game and fun to watch...

Lots of Props to Eli and that pass rush should give most teams fits

I'm happy we tried. Would have been disappointing to lay down and play backups. The injuries aren't serious, I don't believe, but if they are then it might have been a large price to pay.

Hell of a game. Honestly, the Patriots deserve people being on their junk. When I was watching Brady he just has "it". So many times I saw Osi come flying around the corner, and most QB's would fumble the ball because Osi would swat it out. Brady just knew when to move in the pocket and always made the throw that had to be made.

I dont care about Tom Brady breaking Peyton Mannings record because Manning would have put like 60 TD's up that year if the Colts were intrested in running up the score. And i'm pretty sure he broke it in week 15. Eat shit Brady.

he broke marinos record in week 15 just like brady didtoo

RP
12-30-2007, 10:07 AM
Wait, I'm full of excuses? you're the one who was saying how Manning did it in 1 less game, because he did it the 15th week, if that's the case then don't you have to factor everything, such as 9 games Manning played in a dome?

Seriously, they're 16-0 which will only be a footnote if they don't win it all.

That being said RP, we can already see it building, the pats got 19-0 including a beat down of your Colts in Foxboro your head if going to explode...

TD's thrown in 1 season Brady
TD's caught in 1 season Moss
Points scored 2007 Patriots

just deal with it.

Oh while we're factoring things in, how bout the 83 more pass attempts too.

Hey the Colts are happy you're 16-0. Its awsome tbh. Defending Superbowl champs going potentially being 14-2 and there on no ones radar. I dont really envy the Pats position. If you lose, you're the biggest choke job ever, but if you win, you're the greatest team ever, hands down. But just dont lose.

I think it had do with the NFL's stupid "keeping everything uniform" policy, since Plummer would be the only one wearing it outside of the Cardinals organization they where against it. However I did notice that some of the Patriots players didn't have a 21 on their helmets last night and some did (might have something to do with them also have a 91 on the back to honor Marquise Hill)

And you were obviously proven wrong last year, because it meant everything. And this year when we beat you in November, we'll once again have home field advantage. The Patriots are done. He's too busy worried about models and whos gunna babysit his kids while he's out primming his hair for his next big date/impregnate victim. He's not even about football anymore. Tom Brady is Trent Green minus like 5-6 years. He's no Peyton Manning. Not even close. Everyone raves about the Patriots drafting skills. Whoa they got a TE. That was a fantastic post, but obviously alot of it is tongue and cheek. I've given praise to the Pats quite abit over the past few years, but it always seems to be forgoten. Whatever though. Colts are still the champs. Its that simple. Beat them in the playoffs if they meet. They havent been eliminated. Until they are, they're still the champs. 13-2 champs. All i'm saying is, if you choke, you're a joke. The Patriots are the best team in the league this year. Hands down. I cant really argue. You beat the Colts in the regular season. And you earned homefield advantage by winning all your games. Its a fantastic accomplishment. But it means nothing at all to anyone but the Patriots if they lose in the playoffs to the Colts. It means everything for the Colts. Could you imagine the " underdog " defending superbowl champions beating the great Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots in the AFC Championship game...IN FOXBORO? I mean, if ESPN and everyone else has already crowned them the BEST TEAM EVER ( little early maybe ESPN? ), what would that say about the Colts? The defending SuperBowl champs beating the BEST TEAM EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR for the right to go back to the Superbowl. Its more then just possible. Anyone who knows football knows that Indianapolis is very capable of going into Foxboro and beating the mighty Patriots. Its not far fetched at all. Sure 16-0 looks pretty, but its not going to win you a playoff game against the Colts, who might be better this year then last year if healthy ( which they should be ). I read a colum that said it best. You choke and dont win a Superbowl title this year, you're nothing but the 2001 Seattle Mariners. I like where the Colts stand right now tbh. I think something amazing is going to happen. I think Manning is gunna be the best he's ever been if this game happens. Like no other year has this game meant so much if it happens. Arch Rivals for like what? 8 years now. 16-0 Pats vs 13-3 Defending Superbowl Champion Indianapolis Colts? It really dont get better then that. Dont choke.

Seattle lost in the ALCS after beating in Indians in the ALDS...

So going to the superbowl and not winning puts them one step over the Mariners.

but, it doesn't matter to me... heck, go 10-6 (sorry Browns fans) but be undefeated in the playoffs.

Billick Fired as Ravens Coach.

The Baltimore Ravens on Monday fired coach Brian Billick.

The move comes less than a month after Billick was assured he would return.

The Ravens have scheduled a 3:30 p.m. ET press conference.

Billick was informed of owner Steve Bisciotti's decision a day after the Ravens wrapped up a dismal 5-11 season.

Billick, 53, is the winningest NFL coach in Baltimore history and guided the Ravens to their first Super Bowl title in January 2001.

Billick compiled an 85-67 record in nine seasons, but the Ravens, who won the AFC North championship in 2006, struggled to a 5-11 mark this season, including a nine-game losing streak.

So they could draft Joe Staley in this past year's draft

Kris P Lettus
12-31-2007, 03:13 PM
He was selected 28th overall out of Central Michigan University. The 49ers traded their first round pick in 2008 for Staley before the Baltimore Ravens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens) selected with the 29th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NFL_Draft) with New England. He was the second 49er taken in the draft to linebacker Patrick Willis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Willis).

The 49ers acquired Staley after trading into the first round with the New England Patriots. The Niners gave their 2008 1st Round Pick and a 4th Round pick in 2007.

I can't fault the Giants at all for that trade tbh. At the time it was a great move...Grant was their #5 back and looked bad in pre-season against 3rd and 4th stringers.

Grant will prolly become on of those Godsend running backs who looks awesome and then the Packers get rid of (Ahman Green, Samkon Gado, Najeh Davenport). meanwhile Giants got Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw dont need more RB

He didn't look bad at all. I thought he looked good and I knew he would be a player. We just had so much depth at RB at the beginning of the year. I think Bradshaw is gonna be a baller too. Been saying that since the beginning of the year. Maybe I should just be an NFL scout.

I still keep hearing the Phins are gonna get him cause their D is old as shit.

Dolphins are drafting a QB. Trust me. Bill Parcells dont actually think Cleo Lemon is his QB for the next year. They're drafting a QB and that QB will probably play by week 3. That QB is Brian Brohm btw.

Parcells (or his "GM") will take Dorsey or Chris long, not a QB or RB.

The Rams probably Jake Long, why would they take a QB? They have a good one, he just needs more then 2 seconds to throw the ball and Pace can't stay healthy.

I think the Jets trade out, if they stay probably McFadden.

If NE keeps the pick, I'm seen predictions with Malcolm Jenkins... that would make sense.

Laurinaitis would be a good fit, but Belicheck always seems to like free agent LB not rookies.

I got to see him play in person a few months ago, pretty crazy to think the University of Miami had 2 potential first round picks on defense considering how bad they sucked

Bo Scaife is out for the playoffs, guess he lacerated his liver during the Colts game. Pretty bad ass though seeing how he finsihed out the game with it

And in the shock of the season, the Dolphins fire Cam Cameron.

Not only did Cam Cameron got fired, all of his coaching staff got sacked also. Only two coaches were spared. The Special Teams and Linebacker coach.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen has confirmed through sources that the Dolphins also will consider these five additional assistants as Cameron's successor:

" Maurice Carthon, Cardinals running backs coach
" Todd Haley, Cardinals offensive coordinator
" Mike Tice, Jaguars assistant head coach/tight ends
" Rex Ryan, Ravens defensive coordinator
" Leslie Frazier, Vikings defensive coordinator

Only a few will come for an upgrade, I mean, most will not take a lateral move.

He might get Garret as a HC and 2 assistants for coordinators, but like ther posistion coaches will not leave Dallas.

There are so many horrible coaches in the league. Makes you wonder how they get a job.

The Bills have one of the best downfield recievers in the league, and they only threw like 8 bombs all year. They should go downfield like 5 times a game.

Good Call. For Now.

He is going to get offered every job that opens for the next 3 years, so he should have his pick of the litter.

Baltimore is alright, but their top guys are old.

Atlanta is a shit storm.

I doubt he even thinks Dolphins.

I imagine he will land in a place like San Fran next year if Nolan still fucks up, or maybe STL if Linehan is fired eventually.

Although I will call this now.....If the Broncos dissapoint next year, Shanahan steps down, and Daniels is hired.

Anyone else feel like Vince Young might blow up ( in a good way ) Sunday? I dunno, i just keep hearing that its suppose to be Colts vs Chargers next round, but i feel like its meant to be Colts vs Jags in the next round with Titans beating the Chargers on a incredible performance by Young and the Jags overpowering the Steelers.

Just a funny feeling. Colts vs Jags in the playoffs would be the closest it can get to Colts vs Pats. Colts vs Jags has alot of bad blood.
