Have you seen the Saints stats the first three games this preseason??

Now I realize it it preseason, but even against the Dolphins (who won the AFC EAST last year) no starting "skilled" offensive player played a snap.. No Brees, Bush, PT, Colston, Lance Moore, Henderson, Shockey.. Practice squad guys were playing the Phins first stringers (even Pennington) in through the first half and we only lost by 3.. Also, John Carney missed a 36 yard feild goal..

Pretty phyched about our team this year..

I never trust the huge favorites going into week one. You always have about three teams like the Kansas City Chiefs that win for no reason at all.

I was reluctant to take the -13.5 on the Ravens but seriously even if Cassel plays its vs a fired up Ravens defense at home. The Ravens might not score much on offense but I figure their defense should be good enough for at least one easy score and maybe a defensive td to boot.

It's true though..OT in the NFL is stupid the way they run it. Its predicated on luck. A fucking coin toss can determine a winner.

One team should have the ability to go downfield first...if they score, they score..if they dont, they dont..but no matter what, even if they do score, the other team should get a chance to either tie the game up on their next drive, or grab the win.

Otherwise it is pretty fucking stupid.

Kris P Lettus

Def agree.. NFL should use something similar to NCAA OT..

Predicted on luck? So the other 4 quarters in the game are irrelevant? A team can't make a defensive stop, cause a big play? That is the worst argument against the NFL OT.

The college OT rules remove the importance of special teams, and to a lesser extent, defense. I have no problem with the NFL OT.

I don't have a problem with NFL OT either. College OT does remove the importance of defense. A game goes 10-10 into OT, a great defensive battle for 4 quarters and then you start giving the offenses the ball already in FG range and the score gets inflated. It's fine how it is.

If there's a crucial moment in a Cowboy home game and the road offense need to pick up a first down and they just wanna get a look at what formation the Cowboys are running, could the QB just go into the shotgun, take the snap and throw up in the air and hit the scoreboard?

Mr. Monday Morning

Always an upset in the first week, always. I think the Lions will probably play hard for Schwartz but there's just a lack of talent there that will prevent them getting too close.

Rams have a shot, especially if Seattle has like half their O-line out like the last time I looked. Hopefully S-Jax got a good night's sleep cause he's going to be very busy.

I have a few things going on bet wise but I'm steering clear of the Jets, mainly because it's the Texans, and they're like the most unpredictable team in the league right now. Right next to the Broncos actually.

Don't hate me Giants fans but I can see how the Skins may (MAY) be able to cause an upset. Probably not, but I think they can cover the spread certainly.

It may as well be Christmas...Giants season begins today

The pressure is gonna have to step it up a notch today, the Giants will likely have just 6 defensive backs active today...3 CB and 3 S, including undrafted rookie Bruce Johnson as their nickel back. All 6 guys will have to be on the field in the dime package...kinda worried they are gonna get worn out. Really surprised they never went ahead and signed an extra secondary guy, if only for this week...still don't see why they need 10 OL on the roster. But, if the pass rush does its job it shouldn't be much of an issue, either take Campbell down or force him to make crappy throws.

Offensively, I'm expecting Jacobs and Bradshaw to carry the offensive load, but I really hope one of the wideouts can put up a great game and lock in a spot as a starter. It looks like Smith, Hixon, Manningham, and Nicks are gonna all be rotating until they find a combination that works best, so in some cases they are still auditioning for the starting job. I trust the line will give Eli the time he needs to find open men, and his throwing has looked crisp, so I hope the wideouts can actually make the catches.

As for special teams...I'm still not all that comfortable with Lawrence Tynes, but the dude has 4 years left on his deal so he's gonna be the guy. He basically got a year off last year behind Carney, but now the job is his again. Hope he can get off to a fast start to prove the naysayers wrong.

LET'S GO GIANTS!

I would think it would be a penalty if the QB wasn't outside the tackles since if the QB throws regularly out of of bounds inside the tackles on purpose its intentional grounding.

Now, I cant believe that the Chiefs are stupid enough to go with Brodie Croyle today over Tyler Thigpen. Its almost like they know they're going to get beat..

but he wouldnt be throwing it out of bounds

I thought that huge scoreboard was considered OB.

Theres no way the NFL is going to allow a QB to do that because it would have to be completely intentional on the part of the QB to throw it up that high. A punter could hit it, and while completely being intentional, still have more chance of belief that its was accidental..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Shanahan-planned-to-cut-Broncos-WR-Marshall?urn=nfl,189263

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes) has led all NFL receivers with 206 catches for 2,590 yards over the last two seasons and he had four receptions in the team's miracle win yesterday over the Cincinnati Bengals. But former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan was apparently planning to give Marshall the axe this season, according to ESPN.

Who can blame Shanahan? He reportedly was sick of all of Marshall's off-the-field antics and thought he was becoming "unreliable" on the field. He supposedly told former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler(notes) this just the day before Shanahan himself got canned.

Now, ironically, Marshall is the only one of those three that is left on the team since Cutler got traded to the Chicago Bears. Of course Shanahan's firing didn't mean an end to Pro Bowler Marshall's behavioral issues. Those are supposedly the reason the Broncos can't trade him, a hope that Marshall has reportedly had since last spring.

Love that Broncos fans are so bitter about Cutler leaving. Would you want to play for a coach who flat out says "I don't want you as my quarterback" ?

Sorry, don't remember that.

I remember Jay basically crying about them trying to trade him. I remember after that Josh saying he was just doing his job by listening to any reasonable offers for anyone, and then saying moving forward Jay was his QB. I then remember Jay leaving the state and McD constantly trying to meet with him. About a week was spent with McD just trying to meet one-on-one with Cutler, and Cutler either no showing or just sending his agent. I remember McDaniels and Bowlen saying Cutler hadn't been answering calls or even responding to texts. Then I remember him being traded.

Don't get why it's so hard for everyone to see why McDaniels would want Cassel. You're a young rookie coach, why the hell WOULDN'T you want one of the guys that knows your system already AND helped make your name what it is. Would I rather have Cutler right now? Duh. But I can deal with what we have now, because I wasn't really too big on Plummer when we first got him, yet look where we got with him. Farthest we've been since Elway.

Jay didn't help his case after he left, when he rated Chicago fans (a 9) and Denver fans (a 6), and then a couple days later after Denver fans got pissed, said that he'd never said it. Dude has a serious problem manning up.

Maybe we should've just listened to Philip Rivers a couple years ago...

As for Cutler not meeting with McDaniels, how is that a negative against Cutler? He didn't want to play for McDaniels anymore so what obligation does Cutler have to have go to some meeting that isn't going to solve anything?

I agree that McDaniels would want Cassel because he's comfortable with the guy, but you can't go out and try to get him without angering the guy whose job you're trying to give away.

DaveBrawl

I wouldn't want Matt Cassel to replace Cutler, but Jay Cutler is hardly Peyton Manning. Besides it's not like he was openly trading Cutler, if someone came with an offer he listened it's not like he listed him on the trading block.

As for the way he handled it, he could look to Jason Campbell. He was basically looked to be traded to a couple teams, including to Denver for Cutler, and he didn't throw a fit and pout. He came out and said he understood it was a business and would try to play his best no matter where he ended up.

You need a back up for week 2.
