Figured this was a loss. Anytime there is a team opening up a new stadium or retiring a number or having some kind of celebration, the road team wins. One of those things that just seems to transcend the game. Still fucking hate the Giants. That pass defense looked terrible though. No clue what happened since last season to make them THAT bad. Not really all that heartbroken though for some reason. We're good enough to stay in the thick of things until late in the season when I'm really gonna be worried about how we do.

Should be fun to see if the Lions drop to 0-20 over their last 20 regular season games (they lost 1 at the end of the 2007 season, all 16 last season, and the first 2 of this season so far). Somehow, against the likes of the Redskins, I'm pretty confident this will happen.

Yeah it was my fault for not subbing him in week 1. I knew he was hurt and forgot to take him out (still won though), this week though I thought he was gonna play and like your saying he just came in at the end, and then Welker didn't play at all so I lost a lot of potential points cause I have Meachem at backup for WR and though he didn't do a lot it would of got me the win because I'm 1 point out with 1 guy left to play tonight and my opponent is done.

The major storyline in the NFL last week was all the talking that the New York Jets did before their game against the New England Patriots. As it turned out, all their smack-talking didn't get them into one bit of trouble, as they were able to back it up and slap around the Patriots on Sunday.
This week, though, we're talking about a whole new kind of talk from the Jets, and it might get them in a whole lot of trouble.
Gary Myers and Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News are reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have filed tampering charges against the Jets. The 49ers are reportedly alleging that the Jets have made contact with Crabtree or his agent, which would be a no-no.
Although the specifics aren't known, it's not hard to connect the dots. Crabtree, the 10th overall pick in the draft, is threatening to sit out the season and reenter the draft in 2010. The 49ers may believe the Jets contacted Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker, to let him know they'd be interested in trading for his rights, or in drafting him in 2010 with a better salary than the 49ers are offering. The NFL's trade deadline is Oct. 20, while the 49ers must either sign Crabtree by Nov. 19, or surrender his rights, putting him back into the draft pool for 2010.
Now, if they wanted to, the 49ers could have called up the Jets and said, "Hello, would you be interested in trading for the rights to Michael Crabtree(notes)?" The Jets are absolutely not allowed to contact Crabtree on their own, though, without going through the 49ers.
Accusations like this actually aren't new to the Jets. A couple of weeks ago, there was some talk that they may have made improper contact with Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall(notes), though the Broncos never filed a formal complaint against them. The 49ers, according to the Daily News' report, have.
If the league finds any truth in the allegations, the most likely result is a fine, though it would also have the right to take away draft picks.

I figured PT would play more than Bell but I guess they were still resting him.. Thing about Meachum is, just like all our WRs, you never know who's day it's gonna be.. He is second on the depth chart behind Henderson (left side) but with all the different looks our Offense can give, you never know how much he'll be in there or how much he'll be thrown to because Brees spreads the ball out so well..
DaveBrawl
09-21-2009, 04:30 PM
Yeah only reason I picked up Meachem was he had so many return yards last week and a pretty good receiving game, I figured even if he just got the returns he would make a great bye week guy. Unfortunately he didn't get that this week.

Falcons defensive tackle Peria Jerry, the team’s first-round draft pick from Mississippi, will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending right knee injury in Atlanta’s victory over Carolina (http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2009092000/2009/REG2/panthers@falcons/watch).
Jerry’s injury is more bone-related and not a torn ACL. He should be ready to go by next summer.
Thomas Johnson will move into the starting role, coach Mike Smith said.
Damn, even though I hate the Falcons, I love Jerry cause he played at Ole Miss..

lol @ Rexecutioners. Pretty impressive not allowing an offensive TD to either the Texans or Pats in back to back games. Darrelle Revis has completely shut down Andre Johnson and Randy Moss back to back.
And a special fuck you to every single analyst on ESPN who lambasted/compared Kerry Rhodes to Anthony Smith from a few years ago when he tried to 'talk shit' to Brady or whatever. Kerry Rhodes is a pro bowl stud, and the whole "this is only going to make Tom Brady so angry he is going to throw 8 TD passes because he is the best thing ever" arguement was so fucking infuriating etc.

The Saints porous D is going to get Shredded by Fred Jackson. No way does the 40+ plus point offense keep rolling. Saints are coming back to earth in Buffalo this weekend.
Boomer
09-21-2009, 05:07 PM
The Saints "revamped D" has still given up a lot of points, Krispy.
And I like how Darren Sharper just had to return that INT for a touchdown with less than a minute left in the game with his team up 19. I feel like it must have been a direct order from Sean Payton to play like they're in the BCS.
Kris P Lettus
09-21-2009, 05:16 PM
Not really.. Week one against the Lions, an 87 yard kickoff return, 48 yard punt return, Mike Bell fumble for a TD, and Reggie Bush's, fumble at the Saints 13, caused all the points.. The only busted play yesterday was that one huge pass to Jackson where Roman Harper bit down on the inside slot route, so Darren Sharper thought he had help over the top, and he didn't..
Why wouldn't he go for the TD in that situation though??
Maybe watch some highlights or the actual game before talking shit about our D..

Short field position has nothing to do with defense.. We held Brian Westbrook to 52 yards yesterday, and had three takeaways.. We are +3 in the turnover game this season..
Boomer
09-21-2009, 05:35 PM
And yet you still gave up almost 400 yards in passing offense to a guy whose never started an NFL game. I don't care if that's skewed because the Eagles had to abandon the run just to keep up late in the game...that's a lot of yards regardless.

It's the single wing offense, it's been around for years - Houston Nutt didn't create it.
He just had the idea to take it retro and put a RB at the QB spot. Way back in the day every team did this all the time before the downfield passing game was really put into motion.

Dolphins still should have won that game even with that horrible 2 minute drill, Ginn dropped that TD pass. I mean it was tough catch but you make millions of dollars to run fast and catch a football.
My favorite part was with 4 minutes to go and like 3rd and 7, the Dolphins run the ball for a 2 yard gain and settle for the field goal, INSTEAD of trying for the first down with a pass or even a wildcat and even if they failed the pass, it was still pretty much the same distance on the FG. They basically just handed Peyton Manning the ball with 3:51 seconds to go, only needing a FG to tie or a TD.
That was just horrible coaching.

Why are the MNF guys acting like the Dolphins created the Wild Cat??
Houston Nutt created that shit when he was coaching at Arkansas years ago..

I think every team in the NFL has tried it. Hell, the Ravens went with what was called the "Suggs Package" last year and lined up Troy Smith at QB and Joe Flacco at WR.
http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2008/10/26/ba-raiders_raven_0499359055.jpg
He made the catch, and if he hadn't tripped over his own feet at like the 10 yard line, he would have had a touchdown reception, which would have made him the first player in NFL History to throw for a TD, run for a TD ( a brilliant 40 yard scamper) and catch a TD in the same game.
Im surprised the Ravens don't run it more often with Troy Smith basically rotting away on the bench and Flacco being 6 foot 5... But Flacco is the man!

I dont know where i said, but i told everyone here Dallas Clark would be a superstar. Look at him now. This guy has a legitament chance at leading the league in receiving yards and possibly catches. And maybe even TD's. I know its only been 2 weeks, but still, this guy is amazing. He's gunna be one of the greatest of all time. He leads the league in receiving yards as of today.

DALLAS CLARK WHO DAT
Everyone at ESPN has labeled him the " Hybrid " which i guess is kinda true. But I think most teams just dont play there TE's like the Colts do. Clark cant be single covered by a LB, DB or Saftey. Thats a major matchup advantage.
I love this guy so much. The only thing i ever worry about is the hits he takes. He's about 2 concussions from ending his career.

I started Todd Heap over Clark in my fantasy league, I would have been pissed if I had lost.
Todd Heap used to be awesome, but he's been fighting injuries the last two years. If he stays healthy he could have a huge year as one of Flacco's favorite targets.
Also in Ravens news, 2 weeks before they face the Patriots, they traded Prescott Burgess to NE for a draft pick. He was playing primarily special teams so I guess it was a good move but they could have waited til after they play NE.

I remember when Matt Leinart caught a TD pass in the Rose Bowl, that was pretty bad ass.
I also remember when David Patten scored 3 TDs 3 different ways against the Colts in one of Tom Brady's first starts. He might have had a kick return not and not a run, he definitely threw one though.

The Denver Broncos offense and Kyle Orton have been much-maligned through two weeks of the season, but some interesting stats suggest things aren’t quite so bad. Consider:
* Orton is the only quarterback in the NFL with at least 50 attempts and no interceptions.
* In fact, the Broncos offense is the only unit in the league yet to commit a turnover.
* Thinking Orton is the master of the dink-and-dunk? Think again. Orton ranks second in the NFL in 25+ yard completions (ahead of scoreboard blazer Drew Brees and division rival Philip Rivers).
* As we pointed out in the DL, Orton’s Week 2 performance puts him 6th in DYAR, a better measurement of the value of each throw based on down and distance.
* Broncos offense ranks 8th in the league in yards. If Matt Prater doesn’t miss two windy field goals Sunday, the scoring offense ranks 11th.
Are things perfect? Of course not — scoring 19 points in seven quarters of football certainly indicates there are problems. But the offense doesn’t quite reflect the gloomy picture some fans are painting.Of course all that is without Marshall and Royal really getting into things yet. And the running game has been somewhat slow in getting going. Just wish the O had a little more time to catch up with the D before we head into the part of the schedule that may kill our season after week 4 :(

King's Island turns McNair murder into Halloween display
Posted by Mike Florio on September 24, 2009 8:54 AM ET
We realize that the Halloween season entails routine exposure to gruesome and disturbing images. But even when dabbling in exploded eyeballs and spilled intestines, it's implied that good taste will still be exercised.
King's Island in Cincinnati didn't get the memo.
The amusement park's Halloween Haunt initially included the scene of the Steve McNair murder.
Seriously.
But the Halloween Haunt display doesn't open until Friday. And, according to Clay Travis of FanHouse, the McNair murder scene won't be part of it, thanks to the uproar that arose after video of the display emerged via a sneak peek of the Halloween Haunt experience emerged via WLVT in Cincinnati.
"There will not be a scene at our Halloween event that features Steve McNair or anyone that resembles him," said Kings Island spokesperson Don Helbig.
Meanwhile, teenagers throughout the country now have been given a new idea for trick-or-treating costumes.

What shocks me is that the entire park seems to be populated with exhibits like that, and they're only closing the McNair one.
The article makes mention of a dead Heath Ledger surrounded by pill bottles, and other gags involving Farah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Ed McMahon and Michael Jackson.
The whole concept of their attractions is so ridiculously oppurtunist and offensive, that a reasonable person can't help but laugh about the whole situation.

<!-- INLINE HEADSHOT (END) --> As the team returned from practice Friday, a soaking-wet Francies, apparently the target of some hazing, stormed into the locker room carrying a water bucket full of ice. Before he could be stopped, Francies tossed the ice on cornerback Brandon McDonald (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10583), hitting him with cubes and covering the floor. Francies flung some ice in the direction of safety Mike Adams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5893) before heading toward safety Abram Elam (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10174)'s corner cubicle. I go to a "casino" in Delaware where 3+ team parlays are legal. I live 40 minutes from the "casino" so its not too bad. They were supposed to have single games, -/+, total points bets on NFL and other sports as well but the courts shut them down for now.
Ive done it on websites before but the legality issue always bugged me, not to mention how hard it was to actually get money that you won, especially if you use any bonuses or crap like that. Glad to see Tuck was the one to avoid the inactive list...though I'm not expecting him to see too much time on the field. Just get out of this game healthy, any more injuries and they'll have to start cutting some of the servicable injured guys just to get more healthy bodies on the roster.
Giants need to hope for either their running game to finally establish itself properly, or another big game from Smith and Manningham (though both happening wouldn't hurt!) Defensively, I'm keeping an eye on the run defense that got eaten alive by the Cowboys' 3 RBs last week. If they can stop the Bucs' triumvirate I think they'll be in good shape, as I feel the Bucs don't have the receiving weapons to make a huge difference.

my "easy money" isnt so easy with Houston getting beat but its early and the Texans have a drive going.
Dan Snyder is in a corner crying somewhere with Haynesworth being hurt and losing 10-0 to the lions.

Its very hard to believe Ray Rice just got his first CAREER TD after how well he played last year. I could have sworn he had one last year.

The Pats going for it on 4th and inches on their own 25 is ballsy. They are doing a good job keeping the Falcons offense off the field.

LOL wow Redskins messed up the whole lateral play since 3rd guy decides to rush forward with a couple of Lions players in front of him instead of tossing the ball to a team mate.

Ya, especially now that's it's official. Wow. What a fucking drive by Cincinnati. Two 4th down conversions and a 2 Point Conversion. I found it hard not to pull for them right there.

Pittsburgh has SD next week, they could easily fall to 1-3. Cincy has Cleveland next week so they'll likely be 3-1 going into week 5 vs the Ravens.
Ravens and Patriots is HUGE next week, not that anyone didnt expect it to be.
lol i just saw that Farve play. Unreal. Perfect throw, perfect catch. Ball game.
