They just saw the past 2 Cy young award winners pitch great in the LCS,and not to mention all the other former Indian players in the playoffs. Then Braylon Edwards has a really good game for the Jets.

Was just checking out some free agents in my fantasy football league and noticed something...

Does Denver really have 13 running backs on the roster? That's how many I'm seeing right now. Even if some are on the practice squad that seems excessive. That can't possibly be right, can it? :wtf:

Colts cut starting DT Ed Johnson. No official word on whether he got popped for drug use again. Tho that would be my bet. Everyone on the Colts forum thinks they're trying to trade for Dorsey.

I dont mind the deal. Makes room for Moala to step up and be a stud that they think he'll be. I wouldnt mind seeing Dorsey too, but i cant believe they'd have the cap room for him.

My money is that Johnson got popped for drugs again. We already gave him a 2nd chance and he was on thin ice as it was. He's a really nice DT, but has a major history of discipline problems.

That hurts on about 7 different levels.

I really hope he isn't still with them when the Colts play the Ravens, but I would hope he would get a standing Ovation in Baltimore. Of all the teams to go to though, he might not since there's still a lot of Indy hate in Baltimore.

I honestly dont think Manning will get his 6th straight 300 yard game. This game could be over in the 1st half. I was watching the Rams vs Vikings and I seriously felt like the Rams were playing the best football they could possibly play. Like they got the ball and started a drive and got a first down and came close to another and then ran out of gas. They had nothing else. It wasnt even that they were brutally bad. They just had no talent, no skill and then best they could do was not look stupidly horrible. They could be down 35 points in the first half against the Colts.

Bills fans rent billboard to advertise discontent

By JOHN WAWROW, AP Sports Writer Oct 14, 8:07 pm EDT

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP)—It didn’t take long for Ryan Abshagen to discover how many Buffalo Bills fans are unhappy with their team and want owner Ralph Wilson to make sweeping changes.

In a little more than a week, Abshagen, an unemployed 18-year-old from New Freedom, Pa., raised enough money—$1,402 and counting as of Wednesday— through an Internet campaign to rent a billboard and advertise a message of discontent for everyone in Buffalo to see.

“I honestly never thought it would ever be this big,” Abshagen said. “Fans are disgruntled. It’s out there. It’s big. People are going to hear about it.”

Starting early Monday and running for a week, the message will be flashed up to 3,000 times a day on a digital billboard overlooking Interstate 190 on the south side of the city, said Abshagen after signing a contract with an advertising company.

The display will feature a message that reads, “It’s time to clean house, RALPH,” referring to Wilson. Next to that will be a checklist of three names: Jauron; the team’s chief college scout Tom Modrak; and vice president of pro personnel John Guy.

The level of fan frustration in Buffalo has been evident since the Bills missed the playoffs for a ninth straight season with their third consecutive 7-9 finish a year ago. It’s reached a boiling point again with Buffalo at 1-4 and coming off an ugly 6-3 loss to Cleveland on Sunday.

Bills fans showed their displeasure by booing the team numerous times during a game in which the team’s offense failed to score a touchdown for the second time in three weeks. Some fans were spotted wearing paper bags on their heads, while one group stood up to display matching white T-shirts with letters on them that spelled: “FIRE DICK NOW!”

Jauron, in his fourth season, is on the hot seat for the team’s dreadful start. Modrak and Guy are being blamed for failing to build a competitive roster.

The Bills declined comment when asked about the billboard.

Jauron has declined to discuss his status, but has previously acknowledged the criticism.

Bills punter Brian Moorman(notes) rallied to Jauron’s support when informed of the billboard.

“It doesn’t discourage me because I know there’s a lot more people out there that wouldn’t do something like that. But it is a free country,” Moorman said. “The important thing is that inside these walls, (Jauron) has our support. We believe in him.”

Abshagen said he first proposed the billboard idea on a Bills fan message board following the team’s 38-10 loss at Miami on Oct. 4.

A few days later, he designed a web site and began seeking donations. Abshagen said the site attracted little attention until several media outlets mentioned the campaign in stories, particularly after the loss to the Browns.

“That was the one that tilted the scales,” he said. “That was embarrassing.”

The response was so overwhelming that Abshagen said he raised the necessary $1,125 to rent the billboard for a week by Tuesday night. He’s now begun a second campaign to raise another $1,125 to extend the rental for one more week or rent a second billboard.

Any leftover money, he said, will be donated to charity.

“We don’t hate anybody,” Abshagen said, when asked about how the message might be interpreted. “The donors and myself included, we don’t mean any harm or wish to insult anyone. We simply just want to get our voice out as fans.”

And he doesn’t think it’ll make any difference among fans should the Bills win on Sunday when they travel to play the New York Jets.

“I think the fans are fed up enough that it won’t even have an effect,” Abshagen said. “We are in too deep at this point.”

4 team parlay:

Chiefs + 5 1/2 @ Redskins - The Redskins havent beaten anyone by more than 4 points the whole year (and that came in the preseason vs the Steelers) Their 2 wins are by a combined 5 points (9-7 vs Rams and 16-13 vs the Bucs). The Chiefs played the Cowboys really tough and are probably on the verge of getting things turned around with a win vs the Redskins.

Eagles -15 1/2 @ Raiders - its Oakland. A lot of points, but still..Jamarcus Russell..enough said.

Broncos + 3 1/2 @ Chargers MNF - Theres no legit reason why the Broncos are dogs except for the game is in SD. I cant see SD giving Denver much of a problem.

Patriots - 11 1/2 vs Titans - Im not as confident on this one as the other 3, but the Patriots are a much better team at home and the Titans have pretty much given up after starting 0-5. 11 1/2 might be too much though.

Emperor Smeat

Redskins probably fire Zorn if they lose to the Chiefs this week since next week they have the Eagles and then a bye.

Fans and ex-players want him gone but ESPN is reporting the current team players want to keep Zorn. Only issue is who would replace him since nobody will want to touch that job unless its from within the team.

Droford
10-16-2009, 03:58 AM
I keep hearing Shanahan and on some level I think that would be a good fit for them, but I cant see him coming in midseason, especially since theres that dumb rule the NFL has where they can only hire him as an Interim coach and then they have to interview minority candidates for the job regardless of whether or not they intend to make him the official head coach.

Here's how bad the Raiders are...ESPN/Accuscore apparently simulated the game and came to the conclusion that if the Eagles turn the ball over 3+ times and the Raiders have no turnovers, the Raiders have a 57% chance of winning outright. Usually in the NFL, the team with a + 3 turnover differential usually wins close to 80% of the time and it goes to over 90% at +4.

DaveBrawl
10-16-2009, 08:58 AM
Maybe, if Philly turns the ball over in their own end zone 3 times, the Raiders could beat them.

I'm pretty sure Oakland will either beat Washington in Week 14 or give them a run for their money. Of course Washington across the last few years always seem to play to the level of their competition, unfortunately playing all winless teams this season makes them look terrible. They play Atlanta in a couple weeks after their bye week and it will be funny to listen to everyone talk about how they turned it all around if they manage to stay competitive with the Falcons.

Ryan Clady's impressive sackless streak is over.

Stats Inc. has determined that Clady was responsible for allowing New England linebacker Tully Banta-Cain to take down Kyle Orton for a 6-yard sack with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter of last week's victory against New England.

Clady had gone the first 20 games of his career without giving up a full sack. He had been charged with allowing only a half sack, also to New England, in 2008.

The streak ended in the first game after Clady cut off his dreadlocks. Coincidence?

"Nothing to do with it," Clady said.

Canty not playing Sunday, again. Getting really close to writing him off as a bust. Reese doesn't seem like the kind of guy to keep a guy around after he barely plays his first year (see: Arrington, LaVar). Mind, it's not exactly Canty's fault...he's got internal bleeding in his calf apparently and it won't allow him to heal, but still...if it looks like it's gonna be a permanent issue I doubt he will be returning in 2010.

Also Ross still isn't playing...definitely could have started him on the PUP list. Ah well.

So stoked for the game.

Giants getting out coached on defense. Fucking pathetic. Then to boot, they try to drive from their own 15 with < 1 minute and no timeouts?

They'll be lucky not to lose by 30 if they keep shooting themselves in the foot like this.

That fumble and subsequent Saints TD just killed any momentum the Giants would have going into halftime. Don't really see them pulling it out.

Thank fuck they didn't fall victims to any trap games to start the year.

It doesn't matter anyways. This game just reveals what Giants fans know, we're weak in defensive depth. On top of that, the little things they're not executing are killing them.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
10-18-2009, 02:56 PM
The Saints offense line is mad good, Giants getting no type of rush. Hurting them pretty badly since their defensive backs are pretty suspect. Even when healthy the Giants DBs are pretty suspect, now with some injuries it's making it even worse.

Gonzo
10-18-2009, 03:05 PM
When healthy they would be fine. Bill Sheridan sucks as a fucking defensive coordinator. Almost next to no adjustments to try to get pressure on Brees. If you don't realize that you can't man up and rush 4 successfully, you gotta switch it up.

Gonzo
10-18-2009, 03:15 PM

The Saints would be beat by a team with a good defense that can pressure Brees and a marginal offense.

This game would have been so much different had the Giants not pissed away their momentum at the end of the first half.
