If they lose to the Raiders they will have lost two in a row with Peyton looking like garbage for the last couple of weeks. The two things the Ravens do well on defense (stop the run, pressure on qb) was basically how the bengals won last night. The Broncos have been able to cover up whatever the hell is wrong with Manning with their run game since the Rams loss. The bengals stopped the run last night (86 yards) which was a bit more than half what they were averaging (145) since the Rams game.

That and the Steelers vs Bengals game was flexed before Cincy clinched a spot.

Lions and Packers already had their playoff spots locked while the Bengals vs Steelers game had a juicer storyline going in for the final AFC spot.

It's obvious that NBC didn't choose it because it would be 2 shit teams, but that was the only 100% do or die for both teams with no debate. They flexed the NFC West game in 2010 which wound up being a bad division, and then Dallas running the NFC East gauntlet from 2011-13. IIRC in all 4 of those years it was winner advances, loser goes home.

Even San Diego/Kansas City wouldn't have really worked because I believe KC is last in line in the AFC. If Baltimore or Houston won earlier in the day the game wouldn't mean anything for KC other than trying to fuck it up for their division rivals.</font>

Eli is the least of their worries. He was shit last year but it's clear he's taken to the new offense. Second-highest TDs and yardage in his career, lowest INT total since 2009, and after all the preseason laughing about McAdoo wanting him to complete 70% of his passes, he wound up completing 63.1% which is not bad at all. He's on the same page as OBJ, which is reason enough to keep him. Throw in the fact that there is nobody better available and Eli coming back is an easy choice. The only question left is whether they extend him this offseason as 2015 is his final year under contract.

And with Coughlin, he's a good coach. And again, there are no better, realistic options to replace him. The fall guys should be Perry Fewell and Tom Quinn, as the defense and special teams have been a mess for years.

I think Walton and Jerry are weak links on OL. Ideally they draft a RT and next years OL is Beatty-Schwartz-Richburg-Pugh-New Guy. I expect OT will be their top target in the draft unless JPP walks, in which case it might be a classic Giants DE pick.
