According to rumors, Jets were practically bidding against themselves today for Revis since nobody else was willing to offer Revis the $40 million guarantee he wanted. Steelers, Packers, and Browns all quickly pulled out once they got the demand while the Pats actually dropped out yesterday but never bothered to mention it to the Jets.

Revis likely got a few extra million from the bluff his agent and/or the Pats pulled on the Jets.

Vereen will play a big role in the offense, but everyone else? I don't know. Dwayne Harris is a good special teams but the other three just seem to be depth and nothing else...the lineman they got (Marshall Newhouse) got benched by Green Bay for sucking a couple years ago and the consensus in Cincy is that he wasn't very good either.

Not sure what Reese is doing. He needed to have a good draft anyway because it's been proven throughout history that free agent spending sprees rarely amount to much in the NFL, but in this case it seems like he's spending good money on guys who won't have much of an impact on the field just for the sake of spending money. Clearly he sees something in them but it's still a head scratcher.</font>

The only downside I've heard is that scouts are torn on a lot of the top tackles in the draft, saying many of them project more as guards. Frankly though I always found the reasoning for not drafting interior linemen early to be a bit daft if it really is your most clear weakness.

I can't lie though, the thought of teaming up Amari Cooper with Cruz, OBJ, and Randle definitely had me intrigued. Randle is in his walk year and you don't know how Cruz will be coming back from injury, so it could be jstified. Gotta imagine the Harris signing takes that out of contention.</font>

Why is it so baffling? He got rid of his RB because he thought he had Gore locked up. He got rid of a WR that was getting a lot of money to spend on his defense. He took Sam Bradford, injury risk but better than Foles, because he knows Mark Sanchez has the ability to win in his system if Bradford goes down.

He believes in his sports science crap to keep the injury prone players healthy and that will be put to the test with his recent pick ups.

My hatred of Murray leaving is mostly just sentimental. Dallas does have the best o-line in football but he wasn't JUST a product of it. He's a great running back. I can't fault Dallas for not wanting to overpay for him though. He's a guy who has been injury prone and is just coming off a season where he touched the ball a record amount of times which doesn't bode well for him. Not to mention the constant fumbles.

They can find someone who can be productive behind that line for much less money. He might not be Murray great but if they can find a guy who produces anywhere near what Murray did and can pay him far less money, it'll be better for them in the long run than crippling the team financially for years to come on a handful of players.

With Mathis back, they might actually have a run defense this year. Gonna be fucking tits. I'm hella excited for Gore and AJ to be joining the team. Never really followed Gore, but AJ is a hell of a player and his veteran presence could be vital in the next few years without Reggie. I foresee at least one ring, maybe a couple SB appearances that maybe end with another ring. They've got the pieces there. They've cut the dead weight and "problem" players (*cough* Richardson *cough* Landry *cough*), and picked up some really impact players. Can't wait to see what they do in the draft now.

The sunshine has finally blessed us with its life-giving warmth. These new lads are veterans themselves. Lt. Herremans, Cpt. Johnson and Sgt. Gore rode in numerous campaigns prior to their arrival here. Why, Gore himself once saw action in the granddaddy of all skirmishes, albeit came out on the losing side to a group from the border states headed by Old One Eyebrow, a fellow I myself have tangled with on occasion.

I do believe Gore's former outfit, one from the recently established gold camps in California, fell into a bit of turmoil in the wake of that, hastening his own departure. 'Tis for our gain. I think he could teach our lads a thing or two about pushing onward after being poked up in the fields of New England.

It is Johnson that I most look forward to having under my command. Though aged, he is an able adjunct and quite something to see in his gas-pipes, oh my!

A number of these fellows are acquaintances from time spent campaigning in the swamps of Florida. I've heard tell of some that consider dragoons from an outfit called "The U" to be Sunday soldiers at best preoccupied with the fancy gals, and a few men have worried that these new adds might turn copperhead on us, but I can assure you that when the hornets are flying they earn their sawbucks with the best of them.

Welcoming such experienced fighters into the wagon should provide a nice elixir to wounds suffered at the hands of the foul brigands from Foxborough.

Some have questioned the acquisition of aging replacements. Pish posh! I'd rather have a few savvy veterans over a skirmish line full of Irishmen any day.

Our mental state was further improved following the dispatch of Trent Richardson. The men have never forgiven him for taking a French leave.

I am well all around, putting some meat back onto these bones following the long winter. I've trimmed back the bird nest on my chin in favor of nothing more than a moustache. A few of Irsay's nobs from back East and visiting from the continent assure me that this is now the preferred style for fine gentlemen. Hey may or may not have an actual case. He signed the contract, and should have known what the terms were before he did. All the other things he talks about to try and justify why he shouldn't have been suspended ignore the fact that we don't know what he was actually like in the locker room. If he and Grigson had strong disagreements about his role on the team, he could have been acting like a pariah in the locker room, constantly mouthing discontent over his position. Kind of like that guy everyone works with who always talks crap about people who get promotions over him, or who complains about the boss and then doesn't understand why his performance reviews are bad when he's constantly mouthing everyone and underperforming.

That's just kind of what I see in this situation. The players-only meeting a couple months before the end of the season was one where Reggie claimed they were calling out some people on whether or not their hearts were in it. And shortly after, Richardson lost his starting position for good.

Hmm. I don't mind the McFadden signing for Dallas. I'd still like to see them see if they can get a good RB relatively early in the draft but I'm interested in seeing what McFadden can do outside of Oakland and behind an offensive line that's gonna give him every opportunity to live up to his potential. If he does, he's gonna be great and they'll have successfully replaced Murray for half the price. If he doesn't, they didn't invest too much in him anyway.
