Nothing against Brady but I don't really see how anybody other than Rodgers can be considered the #1 QB in the league.

Rodgers' numbers at home this season: 25 TD, 0 INT, 9.7 yards per pass attempt, 133.2 passer rating. And his last INT at home was in 2012. This season 1 INT for every 7 or so TD. No other QB in the league came even close to that.

He pretty much never makes mistakes.

As of right now, I would take Brady over Rodgers to win a game for me. Rodgers has been destroyed by Seattle and San Fran for the past 3 years. Would rather take the guy that wins when the big competition comes to play.

Not that I would fault anyone for taking Rodgers over Brady.

Of Ruien's list, I'd swap around Luck & Peyton and Wilson & Stafford. Peyton played pretty horribly down the stretch unlike Luck while Wilson arguably is looking like to be his generation's "Tom Brady"

If Russel Wilson was a better QB, he never would have thrown that pass in the first place. Not just in the run vs pass debate, but that pass all together, to that guy, on that part of the field. Just an awful choice. He choked under the pressure.

A better QB would have audibled at the line and changed the playcall, or hell, just improvised and pulled a QB sneak instead. A better QB wouldn't stand by their coach's bad call. They'd fucking fix it on the field and win the fucking Super Bowl.

Falcons confirmed the NFL's claims of them artificiality boosting crowd noise during games the past couple of years. Still going to take a few more weeks for an official report to be made though.

At this point in their respective careers I would definitely take Luck over Manning right now. Manning may be the smartest (in terms of "football IQ") QB to ever play the game but he can't make the throws Luck can right now. And Luck mad nice/troll whenever he gets tackled, super duper

RP
02-04-2015, 01:21 AM
Luck has a lot of gunslinger in him. I think our offensive line gets a bad rep sometimes because Luck will hold the ball til the last second to make a play. Which I love. Peyton isn't done. I said it before we beat Denver. He was injured. Peyton don't miss practices and apparently missed two the week before the Colts game. Nothing else would make Peyton miss a practice unless he was seriously hurt. If he comes back next season, he'll be better than 85% of the starting QB's in the league.

road doggy dogg
02-04-2015, 01:25 AM
I really like the comparison that Bill Simmons made about Peyton to Steve Nash. Right now, Peyton at his highest level can play as well as anybody in the league, Rodgers/Luck/Brady included. He still has that talent. But being able to do that for 20 weeks straight? That's where it becomes an issue.

If you could use NFL QBs like baseball closers, and just use Manning from like week 10 on, man he'd win a Superbowl no probs

RP
02-04-2015, 01:31 AM
Not buying that with Peyton. Nash has chronic problems like Larry Bird. I think Peyton played with one leg for the last 6 or 7 games for Denver.

Peyton always threw wobblers. We called them duck balls in Indy. All of a sudden he gets hurt and and old and people start saying he can't make the throws. Its not true. This guy sees things before they happen. He always has. That's why he is so good. His mind will make him better than most until he's 40. If Peyton can't make the throws, he'll retire immediately. That's Peyton. I really think he played hurt this year. He doesn't get the credit for being as tough as he is. I love this guy obviously.

You win with class, and you lose with class. Period.

Sherman is a well known trash talker when things get heated, but when all is said and done, the guy is actually a class act. Case in point - him shaking Brady's hand after the Super Bowl.

Marshawn Lynch, same thing. When asked if he thought the coach made the right play at the end, Lynch emphasized that Football is a TEAM sport. Lynch could have easily buried Carrol and the Offensive Coordinator, but didn't.

All Edelman is doing, is proving that he has less class than Richard Sherman. Sherman is a dickhead in the heat of the moment. Edelman appears to be a dickhead in general.

No, I get it. But the Patriots are able to have class in the "heat of the moment". Granted, I skipped over that for my first response but the Patriots were not throwing a hissy fit when they were about to lose the game. They were not taunting or pooping on footballs after they scored a touchdown. Sure its in the "heat of the moment" but they are still acting like they have no class.

You seem to spend a lot of time on here as well.

I say this, because I have a feeling that you've lost perspective in life. While it's great that your idols like Tom Brady and Daniel Bryan are achieving great success in life (which clearly makes you happy), what are you doing for YOURSELF?

Tom Brady goes home with millions of dollars to his mansion and pretty wife. After 'cheering' Brady, you turn off the TV and are faced with the same problems that have always faced you (i.e. obesity, having low income, wondering if you'll be able to make rent ok, etc.).

Both the Chargers and Raiders are considering a Giants/Jets type plan if both move to LA in the near future. Plan could theoretically go into effect as early as 2016.

They'd be willing to share the same stadium as a way to make the move more appealing to LA investors and also agree on one of them moving to the NFC for scheduling reasons.

New stadium would cost around $1.7 billion to build in Carson, California.
The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders, rivals on the field, are moving forward together on a plan to build a $1.7-billion NFL stadium in Carson that they will share.

The Chargers and Raiders will continue to seek public subsidies for new stadiums in their home markets, but they are developing a detailed proposal for a privately financed Los Angeles venue in the event they can't get deals done in San Diego and Oakland by the end of this year, according to the teams.

Lions GM wants the NFL to consider the idea of expanding challenges to include penalties but only for those called on the field. Can't use replay to force a flag to be thrown under his idea.

Used the example of the flag pickup PI incident from the Lions-Cowboys controversy as an example.

road doggy dogg
02-20-2015, 12:01 PM
Obvious homer bias, but it's something that's always irritated me anyway. Something like defensive PI can potentially be the biggest play in a given game, even if we're just objectively talking from a raw yardage standpoint. To not be able to challenge a questionable call seems ludicrous to me.

I do agree with the "not using a replay to force a flag" part too. You can't throw a challenge because you thought there was holding or w/e... seems like that would cause way more problems than helps

Might know the Chargers future within the next 3 months since the city sped up work on a new package plan to try to keep the team in San Diego.

The city originally wanted until September to work on a package while the Chargers refused since that would have given the Rams way too much time to get their own LA plan done. Also likely worried the Raiders would drop out of their sharing deal if the wait was too long.

Supposedly Dez Bryant's career is rumored to be in serious jeopardy if a video gets leaked very soon. Cowboys have denied being aware such a video exists nor having seen it if it is indeed true.

The incriminating video of Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver Dez Bryant doing something supposedly Ray Rice worthy is being released today or tomorrow. According to our source, the Cowboys haven’t done a huge deal with Dez because of concern over the video.

UPDATE: We’re being told the Cowboys have warned Dez the tape is going to be released, and from someone who has seen it, that it’s five times worse than the Ray Rice Video. His football career is in jeopardy according to our source.

I was actually kinda thinking something along those lines. Obviously no one is gonna shy away from throwing it deep now and obviously the defender is still gonna try to make a play and not just give up 15 yards every time... but if the defender is really out of position and knows he's fucked, the rule would basically reward them if they commit a penalty. The more I think about the Shady/Alonso trade, the more I like it. I think this could be one of those rare trades that works out for everybody. The Eagles got to free up a lot of cap space and get a dude with tremendous future upside while the Bills get an RB that is at the top of his game right now. Greg Roman is going to do wonders for that offense with Shady at the helm and it makes their QB problem not as detrimental. Bills gotta pay but they are willing to pay and for them at this moment, it is a good allocation of funds. Eagles will use that money that they are saving to patch up holes in their defense and even if Alonso doesn't work out, the money is important to them right now. i'm willing to bet Alonso woll make an impact once he's healthy though. And the Bills don't really lose all that much by giving Alonso up because their defense is fucking beastly and will probably continue to be lights out due to the presence of Rex Ryan.

There's an Eagles/Bucs trade rumor being floated about online. It's almost certainly not going to happen and was probably just started by some random guy but it still makes me chuckle:

Eagles get: #1 pick in 2015 draft, Mike Evans
Bucs get: Nick Foles, Eagles 1st-3rd round picks this year and next year, AND their 2017 1st-2nd

I wouldn't even care about the Eagles getting Evans (who is amazing), it would be such a comical overpay. They'd be crippled for years.

I'm tired of Chip Kelly and his scheming bullshit. Manipulating the general manager to try to get all of these Oregon players. This is the NFL Chip. Now fuck off and get with the program or fuck off. Fat piece of no good shit always thinking he knows best. "I want to run an up-tempo offense and be faster than everybody. Well as you can see that shit doesn't work. Tired of this egotistical asshole. I hope he gets Mariota so he can bust in his face.

Jed York was asked about the 49ers signing thrice-arrested Jerome Simpson. He said "You have to ask Trent (Baalke). I don't know what the thinking was."

Gotta love the synergy.

Jed York is such a joke the way he runs this ship. Makes it difficult to stay engaged with the team.

I've been cheating on the 9ers in the offseason with the Bills. Been listening to the "bills and Beers" podcast a ton. Really good show.

Tomsula seems more like a motivator than an "X's and O's" guy but I still have faith there can be winning system there. Looking a bit bleak wih all these management issues.

The state of this sarcasm is comical. College doesn't transfer to the National Football League

Brandon Marshall to the Jets.

The Eric Decker signing last year just became moot.

College doesn't transfer to the National Football League

Funny considering every player comes from college and most coaches at some point have coached something at the college level.

Going off what I've seen on here, you are familiar with crippling depression, so you should fit into the Buffalo fanbase just fine.

Maybe they have a RB in mind that they will be getting in the off season? Maybe a huge pitch to Murray?

Eagles made the playoffs last year 2013-2014 season.

Also Lesean McCoy is on the downside, and he wasn't going to be on the Eagles next year anyway. I was hoping a dumb team like the Raiders would take him and something else for 1st round pick, but o well.

Marshawn Lynch agreed to a 3 year contract extension with the Seahawks. Got a $5 million raise for next season, options for the final 2 years, and worth $31 million overall.

Randall Cobb re-ups with the Packers for 4 years, $40 million. The Raiders were expected to pay him a lot more on the open market, so it's clear he wanted to stay somewhere where he actually has a chance at winning a Super Bowl.

Eagles looking at Frank Gore. What in the hell. It somewhat makes sense because you get a 1000 yard rusher for less than McCoy but it all seems odd. Also was hoping Gore would stay in SF until his limbs fall off.

The Lions' final offer to Suh was $17 million a year, $58 million guaranteed. Miami's was $19 million a year, $60 million guaranteed.

No hometown discount for Detroit. Although Florida having no income tax means Suh's take home pay will be that much larger.

Very frustrating.

I've been a Suh apologist since day 1, but he's always played the "doesn't want to leave Detroit" card. They offered him pretty much the exact same deal and he bolted as fast as he could.

Yeup 2008 was the last time.

Had Miami done some tweaks or changes, the Wild Cat might have lasted longer than half a season before being broken. Lucked out in 2008 it didn't start to cost them games but had no luck in 2009.
