If I could change one thing about NFL scheduling it would be ending Thursday Night Football. No question about it. The games are often terrible.
I'd keep the week 1 Thursday game because I like the tradition of having the Super Bowl champion opening the next season on their own. And of course I'd keep the Thanksgiving games (including the Thanksgiving Night games). But the rest of it can kick rocks.

But then the Eagles or another team would have traded with the Titans probably.
If the Rams didn't give a shit who they wanted between Goff or Wentz, trading to #2 makes sense. But it's clear they have a preference.

Because this completly changes the entire NFL season. There is no team now in the AFC to be the clear favorites to win the regular season. Pats may even mods the playoffs depending on how bad they are without Brady and how good the Jets or Bills can become.

Seems like the stuff with the cellphone ended up being the deciding factor even though one of the judges who ruled against Brady felt the NFL punishment was a bit unfair on paper.
Then again same judge said the whole case was just about if Goodell was allowed to punish Brady and couldn't rule against it without causing legal issues with the CBA itself.

According to ESPN, Sam Bradford wants out of Philly after the team traded up to get the #2 pick in the draft for a new QB. Supposedly felt insulted the team didn't inform him beforehand of what they were doing with the draft picks and their plans for the draft which he thinks is them trying to replace him as fast as possible as the starter.
Already told the team he's going to hold out on doing any offseason programs and/or camps until a trade is made.

According to the Denver Post, Broncos tried to make a trade for Sam Bradford once the news of him wanting out of Philly became public. Biggest problem is Eagles are asking for way too much for any potential deals.

Raiders currently considering Nevada as an option for relocation.
Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis will attend a meeting with Nevada tourism officials Thursday in Las Vegas to discuss relocating to a proposed domed stadium there, a source in the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development confirmed to ESPN.
Davis is scheduled to appear at the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee meeting at 11 a.m. ET Thursday in Las Vegas. The meeting will include more about a $1.3 billion stadium project being proposed by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and real estate agency Majestic Realty.
The Raiders have signed a one-year lease for the 2016 season at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum. The lease includes two one-year options for 2017 and 2018, but financial developments have added incentives to relocate. The Raiders' rent tripled in the agreement and they lost revenue from stadium naming rights, when O.co opted out of its agreement in early April.
Also still considering a move to LA with the Rams if the Chargers opt out although the terms the NFL gave them includes holding out on making a real decision till early 2018 which is too long of a wait for the Raiders. Chargers have till January 2017 to make a decision but can extend it till January 2018 if a city referendum isn't passed later this year.
To help out the Raiders, NFL recently dropped the unwritten rule against teams moving to Las Vegas due to its gambling reputation.

Reading the takes from all of the Giants' beat guys. It just sounds like they were flat out unprepared for the possibility of Floyd and Conklin both being gone. I mean, I get it. The Tunsil thing completely threw their plans out of whack. Tunsil would have definitely gone to Baltimore had he not screwed up (they've come out and said Stanley was always ahead of Tunsil on their boards, but I'll bet that's bollocks. Every team says that) and the Titans were said to have Stanley on their board ahead of Conklin, so if they had traded up it'd have probably been for Stanley.
Weird set of circumstances but still no excuse to not have a real plan C. Even though I've shat on the pick I of course hope Apple plays well and makes me feel like an idiot but he still just seems like way too much of a developmental pick to take in the top 10.
Here's hoping the Giants can actually get some value out of their mid round picks this year.

Giants just wrapped up their draft in the sixth round. Some quick thoughts:
Round 1: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State: I thought it was a big reach to take him tenth and I stand by that. That being said, the Giants were met with the worst case scenario with teams jumping in front of them to take their top two targets, and apparently they asked too much to move back. You do need three quality CBs in today's NFL, and he'll slot in on the nickel position this year so hopefully his weaknesses can be masked there early on.
Round 2: Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma: Really like this pick. His best fit does seem to be the slot, which is good because you have to view anything they get out of Cruz this year as a bonus. If both guys compete for playing time, it's a good problem to have. Sprinkle in Dwayne Harris who contributed way more in the passing game than I ever would have expected last year and they might have themselves a nice crop of receivers not named OBJ for Eli to throw to.
Round 3: Darian Thompson, S, Boise State: Said it last night but he could very well be their starting FS in Week 1. Landon Collins badly needs to be switched to the strong side, and drafting Thompson might give them the opportunity to do that. And he was getting mid-second round grades on a lot of boards.
Round 4: B.J. Goodson, LB, Clemson: The word on him seems to be that he's sound against the run but poor against the pass. Sounds like every LB Reese has brought in the last few years. But he plays inside and anybody has to be better than Uani 'Unga. He could be another Week 1 starter.
Round 5: Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA: Reading up on him it sounds like he might be a steal. Rashad Jennings looked good late last year but is 31 years old, so I understand bringing in some help. If he gets Andre Williams off the roster then I'm totally happy with this move.
Round 6: Jerrell Adams, TE, South Carolina: This guy is built like a power forward. The only consistency the Giants have had at TE the past few years was Larry Donnell dropping 25 passes a game, so maybe Adams can change that and be a legitimate weapon.
I'm shocked the Giants didn't get a lineman considering that the right side is still a big question mark with a human turnstile like Marshall Newhouse slated to start at RT, but clearly they just weren't all that sold on anybody except for Conklin this year. I think Apple may be the one I have the biggest issues with, actually. Everybody else seems like they could be at least good value. Aside from 2007 Reese has been flat out awful drafting outside of the first round so hopefully the class of 2016 can change that trend.

The Madden Curse used to be fun to talk about when you could undeniably make a case for it existing as every player had really glaring issues immediately after
But then Brees was on the Madden 11 cover and had a typical Brees year. People made the fringe argument that the Saints losing to the 7-9 Seahawks in the playoffs counted toward the curse. Even if you wanted to count that, Megatron broke the fucking receiving record the year he was on the cover. Yeah they didn't make the playoffs. So what? It's a team sport. OBJ ensured it stayed dead this year too.

Yeah the curse itself has been on a decline for a while. A lot of the curse's status was due to the guys being picked having a career year or won the Superbowl so in order for them to "break" it, they either needed another career type year or title.

NFL in some possible big trouble with the government after a recent Congressional report claimed the NFL actively tried to influence a government-approved study on concussions and CTE.
At least a half-dozen top NFL health officials waged an improper, behind-the-scenes campaign last year to influence a major U.S. government research study on football and brain disease, congressional investigators have concluded in a new report.
The 91-page report describes how the NFL pressured the National Institutes of Health to strip the $16 million project from a prominent Boston University researcher and tried to redirect the money to members of the league's committee on brain injuries. The study was to have been funded out of a $30 million "unrestricted gift" the NFL gave the NIH in 2012.
After the NIH rebuffed the NFL's campaign to remove Robert Stern, an expert in neurodegenerative disease who has criticized the league, the NFL backed out of a signed agreement to pay for the study, the report shows. Taxpayers ended up bearing the cost instead.
Government is really pissed off at the money part since it meant they couldn't fully fund other important research projects during the same time period. Also exposed the NFL actively trying to get a chunk of the money granted for the CTE project to a different project not approved in the deal.

Peyton Manning announced he won't be suing Al Jazeera regarding the roids report they published earlier in the year. At least 4 other players in the report will and a lot of growing speculation the NFL's own investigations are being purposely dragged along and hoping the public loses all interest in this situation.
Manning, who helped the Denver Broncos win a Super Bowl in February and retired a month later, has denied accusations made in the documentary that he was shipped packages HGH in his wife’s name while recovering from neck surgery in 2011.
In his frothing initial outrage, Manning suggested he would sue Al Jazeera for defamation. However, USA Today, citing a person familiar with Manning’s strategy, said the former quarterback — surprise, surprise — has decided not to file a lawsuit. The source said this is due to his reluctance to allow access to personal information and records about he and his wife, Ashley, as well as the cost in resources he would need to shell out to go to court.

Peyton is full of shit on this. He's not dropping this because of the excessive cost or resources here. He could easily afford to go ahead with this defamation claim with the right legal counsel. It's more likely that his attorneys told him that he won't be able to prove that the facts (that Manning was using steroids) alleged/published by Al Jazeera were false. Of course, this also likely indicates that he was at one point taking steroids as alleged by Al Jazeera.

NFL considering placing chips inside of game balls this preseason and Thursday games as a way to help tweak certain rules in the future and help out refs in the near future.
K balls would help determine if the goal posts should get narrower to make FGs and extra points even harder to make.
Regular balls would help refs in regards to being more accurate when spotting the ball after downs. Only issue being science is split on how effective it is when dogpiles occur.
For years, the NFL has been investigating the possibility of using chips in footballs to help improve the inexact science of ball placement.
Officials put the ball at the spot they believe it hits when the runner is ruled down. A chip could provide a more precise location on plays near the first-down marker. It could also help officials determine when (and if) the ball crossed the goal line.
Research to this point had suggested that chips were unreliable when the ball is buried in a pile of players.

NFL dealing with another possible scandal regarding concussions after a special committee outed one of the medical advisers on the NFL's payroll who interferred with government studies on the issue.
At least six NFL-paid medical advisers were revealed to have been interfering with the studies being done.
The NFL's removal this week of the doctor who oversaw the league's now-discredited concussion policies comes as another top NFL health adviser is under scrutiny for allegations he tried to influence a major government study on football and brain disease ...
Ellenbogen and Dr. Elliot Pellman, the league's longtime, controversial medical adviser, were among at least six top NFL health officials who pressured the National Institutes of Health, the report said. I'm glad that Colin Kaepernick is trying to raise awareness on a serious matter. But I don't particularly agree with the platform he chose because it was never going to actually lead into a discussion about the issues he was protesting in the first place. Instead, the conversation is now about whether or not there ought to be restrictions on freedom of speech and expression.
And to those who want to limit the free speech of others, maybe they should focus on trying to shut down a group that protests military funerals every week and march around with picket signs that read "God Hates Fags" before worrying about a guy who chose to sit during a 3 minute song.

Trevor Siemian. The 3rd string QB after Peyton Manning and BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCK OS-WEILER!, won the starting job for Denver.
He beat out The Sanchize, and The Future, Paxton Lynch.
Okay then.

Titans are currently dealing with a big Super Smash Bros addiction spreading in their locker room.
Whole thing started after the set of PS4s supplied by the team were removed and the players got bored. Someone brought a N64 from their home and ended up causing a bunch of players to get really addicted to the game.
When the Tennessee Titans lost their PS4s and expensive televisions due to renovation, the NFL team's starting left tackle Taylor Lewan brought in his own Nintendo 64 and a copy of Super Smash Bros. Now, the team is obsessed, fitting in quick matches the moment they have some time to spare, The Ringer reports.
Four Titans players can often be found in the locker room, playing the classic fighting game while a line of teammates forms, waiting for their turn to smash some bros. Lewan says some of his teammates are "dogs**t awful." He added that he uses these teammates, including undrafted free agent Nick Ritcher, as fodder for the more skilled players.

It's not like this is anything new that niggers have whined about so why did he not say crap when he was starting in the SuperBowl? I mean, there is no bigger or better stage if you want to "raise awareness" for your cause. His PR team probably thought this would be a great way to take focus off his downfall.
Why isn't he out helping in Detroit or Chicago if he is so worried about niggers being oppressed?

Tony "Mr. Glass" Romo got a compression fracture and could mission 6-10 weeks.
A. Adjust your fantasy roster/draft strategy accordingly.
B. Jerry Jones cave in and call Johnny Rehab?
Yes, but instead of Manziel, Jerry actually calls in the fictional Johnny Rehab character from Robocop 3.

NFL cleared three players while another is still under investigation from the Al Jazeera roids report earlier in the year.
The NFL has found "no credible evidence" that the Steelers' James Harrison and the Packers' Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers used or were provided with prohibited substances after an investigation into allegations made in a documentary by Al-Jazeera ...
Free-agent defensive end Mike Neal is the other player the league interviewed in connection with its investigation into Al-Jazeera report. Neal is still being investigated by the league for a connection with Charlie Sly, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Sly was the Indiana pharmacist at the center of the Al-Jazeera documentary, which aired Dec. 27.
