There's an article (http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/01/24/ravens-coach-john-harbaugh-sounds-like-man-pleading-for-forgiveness-over-deflategate/nomWQem0ynWFfq4RG27QHP/story.html?p1=Article_Related_Box_Article_More)on the Boston globe basically blaming all the deflategate crap on John Harbaugh for ratting them out to the Colts and Chuck Pagano who is still close with a lot of people in the Ravens organization. Of course they mentioned Ray Rice to for good measure.
In the public sphere, the Patriots have been the only team involved in the Deflategate controversy that tarnished their bye week as they prepare to face the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. The Colts were an ancillary participant.
But inside the walls of Gillette Stadium and across the league, Harbaugh is viewed as the one responsible for starting this whole mess — casting a dark cloud above the league’s signature event, staining the reputations of Belichick and Tom Brady, and blowing the lid off another of the league’s dirty secrets about football doctoring.
It’s Harbaugh who supposedly concocted this scheme with good buddy Chuck Pagano, the Colts’ coach who was one of Harbaugh’s top defensive lieutenants for four years in Baltimore, after the Patriots pulled some trickery on the Ravens in the playoffs two weeks ago. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported as much last week, and while there’s no concrete proof of this yet, that’s what the Patriots and many others across the league believe. Glazer also reported that the Ravens suspected something wrong with their kicking balls, although those stay in the officials’ possession from Saturday until literally right at kickoff.
This little tit-for-tat between the Ravens and Patriots escalated quickly. It began with Harbaugh accusing the Patriots of “deception” with their eligible-ineligible tactics in New England’s dramatic 35-31 comeback win in the divisional round Jan. 10.
A few feet down the hall at Gillette Stadium, Brady shot right back.
“Maybe those guys got to study the rule book and figure it out?” Brady said. “We obviously knew what we were doing.”
Harbaugh, supposedly, got his revenge a week later with his buddy Pagano. “Oh, so you want to talk about the rule book? Let’s check those footballs.”
You can imagine the Patriots’ reaction — let’s just say it was a word that starts with the letter “P” and rhymes with “missed.” Never mind that the Patriots may have been deliberately skirting the rules (although the NFL has not determined anything at this point). In NFL circles, ratting out the Patriots was the far bigger crime.
And Harbaugh, whose team hasn’t exactly been a beacon of morality and truth since Ray Rice punched his fiancé in February, has the gall to act smugly about the Patriots?

According to ESPN or the way they worded it, seems like the NFL is having some serious problems with the Deflategate investigations. Compared to what was leaked or hinted at the start, the NFL doesn't have anything concrete on what actually happened. They only have a small idea on how it might have happened but nothing to come close to an official stance.
Robert Kraft is upset at the NFL for dragging this out and implying the Pats are completely guilty without the actual proof needed. Also wants the constant leaks to the media stopped since its helping no one.
The NFL has zeroed in on a New England Patriots locker room attendant who allegedly took the AFC Championship Game balls from the officials' locker room to another area on the way to the field, Fox Sports reported, citing sources.
According to Fox Sports, the league has interviewed him and has video.
The league is still gauging if any wrongdoing occurred, but he is a strong person of interest, Fox Sports reported.
The location in question was a bathroom in which the attendant can be seen in the video entering and exiting in 90 seconds with the 24 footballs provided by both teams, according to Pro Football Talk, which cited an anonymous league source.
The bathroom is a small, one-toilet room with one sink and has a door that locks from the inside, the Pro Football Talk report said.
Meanwhile, Ted Wells, the investigator hired by the NFL, said Monday that he expects his investigation to last at least several more weeks.
Making things a bit worse for the NFL is the timing for the deflating is likely too short for what the NFL stated the balls were deflated by.
A report from NBCSports hints that the NFL likely was wrong about how much the balls were under-inflated with only the INT ball being under 2 pounds and the rest between a half a pound to a pound at most.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/25/nfl-bears-plenty-of-blame-for-deflategate/
Also both Dan Marino and Steve Theisman both hinted dropping a pound in air weight wouldn't have that big of an impact and something they had done to their balls during their careers.

Rams likely out of St Louis as early as 2016 based on recent changes made to their lease. Found a loophole in their lease that allowed the changes to be made. To keep them beyond 2016, its going to cost the city at least $700 million minimum for a new stadium the Rams want.
The Rams took the first step toward lame-duck status in St. Louis and a possible move back to the West Coast, notifying the city's Convention and Visitors Commission on Monday that they intend to shift to a year-to-year lease agreement for their use of the Edward Jones Dome.
The CVC, which operates the dome, confirmed the move Monday. The Rams referred comments to the CVC ...
Under terms of a 30-year lease agreement reached in 1995, the Rams had the ability to convert the lease to annual terms if the dome was not deemed among the top 25 percent of NFL stadiums based on various criteria. The team had until Wednesday to tell the city of its plans.

Same Rams ownership also stated he'd have no problems sharing the LA market with a second team. Raiders and Chargers would be the frontrunners for that 2nd spot.

Also. How are The Seahawks the good guys in all of this? Multiple PED offenses. They essentially constructed a stadium to make them better by making their fans much louder than they actually are (not illegal. But more of a "come on" thing.) And Pete Carroll is an asshole. Ask USC. Abandoned everybody after he told the team he'd be back and signed prospects. Left the team to deal with a huge pile of shit on their own.

PHOENIX—Explaining his position on the sociological issue during a Tuesday press conference at Super Bowl Media Day, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch reportedly delivered an incredibly thoughtful and eloquent 45-minute address on the topic of privacy in the 21st century. “While increasingly exhaustive access to media has delivered many benefits to the American way of life, this same heightened scrutiny has simultaneously imposed progressively greater obstacles to our personal privacy, thus presenting ethical challenges unique to the internet age,” said the five-time Pro Bowler, calmly strolling back and forth with a microphone in hand while making eye contact with each individual member of the assembled national sports media. “Privacy versus accessibility; secrecy versus convenience; the individual versus the greater virtual communities of the digital landscape. At first blush, these appear to be the fundamental poles around which the modern privacy debate circles, but they have only grown more multifaceted and complex as the technological paradigm perpetually shifts. When meditating on the give-and-take of ever-evolving technology, I am often reminded of a quote from George Orwell: ‘Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.’ Could it be, in perhaps the ultimate irony, that with every technological advancement, with every marvel of engineering that seemingly brings us closer together and rips down the very walls that once divided the world, that with every such step forward, we have become ever more guarded about our own personal boundaries and the information we are comfortable sharing with one another? And in doing so, do we in fact chip away at the very core of what makes for a civilized society, and in an even broader sense, the very notion of being human? For to be human is inherently to be social, and yet it is also to desire control. With the public domain seemingly encompassing a greater and greater volume of personal information, that control has been ceded. The so-called right to privacy, as it were, is no longer a right inasmuch as it is now a privilege, to be enjoyed until it is torn away at a moment’s notice. Conversely, we so often desire to break down that same right to privacy of our fellow human beings, shielding ourselves while exposing others, just as a snake devours its own tail. Perhaps the biggest question of all is whether privacy itself—at least in the traditional sense—even exists in today’s world, or if it is simply a relic of a past time that bears no more meaning or significance than Aristotelian physics or the idea of a geocentric universe. Simple answers to such queries do not exist, I’m afraid, but in exploring them, we can at the very least hold a mirror to society and possibly even to ourselves—and that is something I hope to accomplish with all of you here today.” Following his lengthy treatise, Lynch stressed that he was only capable of delivering a cursory examination of such an extensive issue during his allotted time and urged those in attendance to contact him with any questions if they wished to discuss the matter in greater depth.

From an actual game perspective, it's not too different from last year. Top offense vs. top defense. Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas are question marks with injury.
From a "legacy" standpoint you have the Seahawks looking to be the first team to repeat in a decade, and Brady/Belichick chasing their seemingly elusive 4th ring. If the Pats win though the general public is still going to say that there's an asterisk over their entire "regime" since 2001 which is a bit daft as they're clearly a very good team and would be even without unnecessary cheating and the like.

Maybe to the die hard sport fans that will be true. But in the ESPN/NFL/Regular fan world it will not tarnish it anymore than Ray Rice killing people or Big Ben raping women. It will be BARELY be mentioned, if even at all, the entire week after the Patriots (Assuming they win) the Superbowl. The entire Deflategate will be forgotten, partially due to the Colts getting their ass handed to them during the game, and Spygate is rarely, if ever, mentioned as it is.

Not sure if this one has an official "-gate" status but going to call this one Ticketgate for now.
Hundreds of people who thought they bought Super Bowl tickets found out recently they were likely scammed or lost out on the tickets due to several scalper-like sites reneging on the deals done.
Hundreds of fans won't be going to Super Bowl XLIX after brokers and resale sites reneged on tickets that they already sold.
In most cases, those selling tickets never had them to begin with. The practice, called short selling, has become common for big games over the years. Brokers sell tickets and buy them cheaper closer to the event to make their profits. But the idea of selling before having anything in hand became more commonplace as the returns consistently came in for previous Super Bowls.
That was until this year, when too many brokers sold tickets they didn't have and for lower prices than in previous years, making it impossible to get the real ticket for a price that was affordable when it came time to pull the trigger. By last Sunday, brokers were buying the worst seats for $5,000 just to save their company. Five days later, finding a ticket even for $10,000 was a challenge.

I agree with RDD.
If the Pats get that 4th Super Bowl ring, I don't think there will be any *asterisk* whatsoever.
Having said that, this is a golden opportunity for both the Seahawks and Russell Wilson. After having gone up against Peyton Manning last year, they now go up against Tom Brady; two living legends.
Playing against both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in a Super Bowl is an achievement and an honor in itself.
If I'm Russell Wilson, I'm thinking that there is no greater honor in having won back-to-back Super Bowl's, with both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady passing you that torch.

I kinda asked this elsewhere, but would that whole weird thing with Harrison's gun and all that shit have anything to do with it? What ever happened to that story?
Evil Vito
02-01-2015, 04:12 PM
Harrison was never charged with anything IIRC. The gun that was confiscated from him was determined to not be a match in the shooting he was accused of.
I honestly don't think the accusations have anything to do with him not going in immediately. If accusations are enough to lose votes, then Ray Lewis shouldn't go in right away but I think we all know he will be headlining the class of 2018.
WR just seems to be a logjam and since they only allow 7 or 8 entrants per year, they try to not let in two from the same position. Carter, Reed, and Brown had been waiting for longer and we haven't had a first-ballot WR since Rice.
My best guess is Harrison gets in either 2016 or 2017, with T.O. going in whatever year Harrison doesn't. Moss in 2018.

Why wouldn't he vote for him as DPoY as well then?
It comes down to the whole "MVP is for the guy most valuable to his team and PoY is for the best player" thing. He might think JJ Watt was the best defensive player but you can't make a good case for his value to his team when he didn't help them make the playoffs.
I still think Bobby Wagner is kind of a ridiculous choice but Dungy just takes the "MVP" incredibly literal so he chose the guy who he thought was the most important player on a Super Bowl team.
Edleman is one of the douchiest looking douches I've ever seen. I think I want Seattle to win more.

You're acting like those antics are standard though, and they aren't. The reason people talk about them in that context is because they go overboard. Nothing was more satisfying than Sherman calling out Revis yesterday only to get his soul stolen at the end of the game.
Getting chippy is one thing, but if you're going to call out another individual player to the cameras, you better make sure you win. That's my problem with Sherman. Everybody gets mad/chippy but rarely do guys go out of their way to make it so personal. Calling out guys by name, calling out their numbers in the middle of a game, it seems so forced. We get the angle.

Baltimore Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody was indicted Monday morning for animal abuse involving a dog and an alligator, according to the Baltimore County Deputy State's Attorney in Maryland.
Was released today by the Ravens and currently facing 15 charges (13 animal abuse, 2 drug).

Five counts of animal abuse or neglect involving the alligator.
Probably decided he did not want to die so he locked the alligator in the basement.

Seriously though, fuck him for neglecting/bringing his dog to a early death. Probably was a terrible life for the dog too. Hope he gets the max on all the charges.
If Terrence Cody's name was Michael Vick, this would be a huge story.

Very disappointed by the outcome of the game obviously, and the horrific ending from a Seahawks perspective, but the Pats deserved to win. Brady truly is a legend, and I think he has a valid claim in being considered the GOAT. My personal pick for GOAT is Joe Montana, but I wouldn't complain if the general consensus was Brady.
Seahawks have a great core and will be a contender for years.

For your sake I hope you're right. Wilson is going to get his payday, Lynch may or may not leave, and their defense needs to be paid soon too. Could be difficult to retain that core.

No to Thomas Brady being the GOAT (it's Aaron Rodgers)
Sadly the Seahawks run is over unless they can find a legit quarterback to run there team.

I don't understand why Wilson is going to get paid like a superstar (As I keep hearing from people). The defense, offensive line, and Lynch carry the team. Sure Wilson is a above than average quarterback but to spend a ton of money on him may cripple the team.

Well he's not gonna get like Brady money but going from his current ~$900k to even a reasonable like $8-9M is a huge increase and will affect what else they can do with their cap

Lynch just signed a huge extension if I understand correctly (which is why the running joke in Seattle right now is why give a guy such a huge contract if you aren't going to give him the ball on the 2 yard line for the championship!).
As Clerk and Ruien allude to, Russell Wilson may not be the best Quarterback in the game right now, but I would argue that he's up there. I would also argue that a combination of Wilson's leadership, character, and what he means to both the players and the city, makes him worth every bit of the contract that the Seahawks will inevitably give him.

Ah okay. I heard they offered him (Lynch) an extension but wasn't sure if he signed.

I would put Wilson in the second tier of quarterbacks. He is not Rodgers/Brady/Manning/Brees but he could fall into the next catagory. I can't put him in with the best of the best because the offense runs through Lynch rather than Wilson. That is not to say Wilson is a game manager but Lynch (And the offensive line) is what makes the offense tick.

Those are all entirely fair and accurate points. But Wilson will be getting a raise, and though he won't be making $20M/year like some of the top guys, it's not unreasonable to expect roughly half that.
Between a potential new Wilson contract and Lynch's extension, that alone will increase the 'Hawks' cap hit by probably about $12M+

Ya, he will be getting a raise. 8/9 million a year would be perfect. Giving him 20 million a year would be extreme and what could cripple the Seahawks if it happens.

I've been bullish on Brees in the past but I think I might put a couple of those guys ahead of him at this point. Seems he's on the downswing of his career.
Of course, next season he'll throw for 5500 yards and 46 TDs now to make me look stupid for saying that

Nothing against Brady but I don't really see how anybody other than Rodgers can be considered the #1 QB in the league.
Rodgers' numbers at home this season: 25 TD, 0 INT, 9.7 yards per pass attempt, 133.2 passer rating. And his last INT at home was in 2012. This season 1 INT for every 7 or so TD. No other QB in the league came even close to that.
He pretty much never makes mistakes.
