Hard to know what will be called defenseless receiver/unnecessary roughness. Plus they probably don't think about it until it's too late. They also just might not know it's a rule like Smelly didn't.

They played this season. Indy won. Indy also ended the season with a better record despite laying back for the final 2 weeks while Baltimore was beaten handily by Case Keenum's Texans and struggled to beat some QB whose name I forget's Browns and still only got in because of San Diego losing. I'm sure there's some deep Droford stats you can pull out but beating them head to head and ending the season clearly better probably trump them.

20-13 but the Colts had 4 turnovers and the Ravens offense wasn't able to do anything with them as they only had the ball for 20 minutes. Conversely the Colts had the ball for 40 minutes and only scored 20 pts.
Ravens are 0-5 all time in Indy. Ravens/Colts would be interesting afc championship

Indy and Cincy are both definitely better than Baltimore.
Just feel more conformable against Indy or Cincy than Baltimore especially if weather is a factor. That and Baltimore the past several years has been a tough matchup against the Pats.
My scare factor going into the playoffs was #1 Pitt, #2 Bal, & #3 Den with only one needed to be played if things went well. Now they have to deal with two possible tough games for the Super Bowl route.

I don't really feel "excited" about any potential AFC Championship games. Even Brady vs Manning doesn't seem like it will have the same feeling to it. Manning looking "off" late in the season probably has something to do with that. Everyone in the conference just seems vulnerable.

If they would have beaten Indy they would have won more games than the Colts. But they didn't. They lost to them.
Also, if Indy got to play the entire NFC South, they probably would have won even more...

I said it on their earlier meeting but Brady/Manning has just gotten to be too much like Cena/Orton for me. To be honest i like Marvin lewis so i feel bad hes had so much trouble winning a playoff game and if if was any other team in another division id be rooting for them.
Andy Dalton is the problem though. For all the crap people want go give Flacco hes 10-4 in the playoffs and since the 2011 season playoffs hes 6-1 with 17 tds/1 int for a 110.7 pass rating. Over that same time Dalton is 0-3 with 1td and 6 ints in the playoffs. Dalton has had better WRs and a better defense for the most part.
Hes playing better today without Green and Gresham but as of now theyre still losing.

I don't think anyone has Dalton in the same league with Flacco. Also, the run game has always been terrible since Dalton has arrived on the scene. Maybe Hill will be able to change that next year but as of right now there run game is up barely better than Indy's run game.

Seriously. They played like a team that had already accomplished all they wanted to accomplish. Best O-Line in football played kinda shitty. Terrible pass protection. Running game failed. Defense was giving up entirely too many yards. Best kicker in the league missed a field goal that would have had it tied late. Stupid penalties. And in the end Romo comes through in the clutch. It was kind of the perfect game to rub in the face of Romo haters.

And Baltimore is 0-5 this season against teams with a winning record not named the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If we're gonna use Dro-stats, please try to keep them relevant to the teams that are playing this season and not pretend a Ray Lewis-lead defense beating a Chad Hutchinson-lead offense some time around the beginning of the century is very relevant to the outcomes of current games.

The Ravens beat an 8-8 Dallas team in Baltimore 2 years ago because of a missed field goal as time expired? Cool. The way i look at the Ravens season is they didnt lose to any team with a losing record, so they won the games they were supposed to win. They were only really embarassed in loses twice (steelers and texans) and they made up for the Steelers drubbing saturday. The loss to the Texans was the worst performance of the year much like in 2012 when they got routed by the Texans in Baltimore. The other 4 losses were by a total of 18 pts.

Did you know that 98 percent of the country will be rooting for the Patriots this weekend?
Yup, that’s because the nation hates the Ravens. This, according to The Boston Globe’s Eric Wilbur.
“The most deplorable organization in American professional sports punched its ticket for a playoff rematch with the New England Patriots,” Wilbur wrote. “They’re also the most hated team in the NFL. Everybody hates the Ravens.
“Everybody.”
I like the use of the phrase "punched its ticket" which is obviously a shot over the whole Ray Rice fiasco. Im sure the Patriots murdered the competition in the AFC to earn their #1 seed coughaaronhernandezmurdertrialstartsthisweekcough

According to city officials, Rams are likely moving to LA after this year. The city itself is currently pleading with the NFL to either keep the Rams in St Louis or give them a team as compensation.
City officials said Wednesday that the owner of the Rams isn't returning their calls, so they plan to work directly with the NFL on efforts to keep a team -- any team -- in St. Louis amid speculation the Rams are headed back to Los Angeles.
Rams billionaire owner Stan Kroenke is part of a joint venture that announced plans Monday for an 80,000-seat stadium in the Los Angeles suburbs, a move that could soon return the NFL to the nation's second-largest market and the home of the Rams from 1946 until they moved to St. Louis in 1995. The move would have to wait at least a year; the NFL has said no team moves would be allowed in 2015.

Rams move to LA, add franchises to St. Louis, Toronto, Oklahoma City, and San Antonio.
St. Louis has shown they can support an NFL franchise, Toronto has shown a thirst for football and could become the team of an entire country and the SkyDome is still a premier facility, OKC and SA have shown to be passionate medium market fan bases and football is in those cities DNA. The Saints were rumored to move to San Antonio many moons ago. OKC would need to build a stadium, but San Antonio could renovate the AlamoDome for NFL games until a new stadium can be built. OKC's MLS team is looking to get a stadium built and having the allure of an NFL franchise could get that project done easily.
Hell, go to fucking London, Las Vegas, give LA two teams that share a stadium ala NY, and add a team in Salt Lake City. It'd balance out the increase in playoff teams, make more revenue, and tap into the regional passion/loyalty you see in college football. The market for football is almost insatiable. This would be overkill, but fuck having random numbers in the divisions.

Evil Vito
01-09-2015, 12:07 PM
The biggest thing with the NFL is that as it is now the divisions and schedule work out perfectly. 6 games vs. your division, 4 games vs. another division within the conference, 4 games vs. a division in the other conference, and the only variables being games against teams who finished the same place as you within your conference. Even if they bumped it to 18 games it'd be easy enough to figure out the extra 2 games (if you finish 1st you play the 1st AND 2nd place teams the next year).
Adding any more teams just messes things up royally. If they added 4 teams it would turn into 2 divisions of 9 teams per conference or something sloppy like that.

Guys I did some research and I figured out that because the Bengals soundly defeated the Ravens twice this season, any accolades bestowed upon the Ravens must necessarily be given to the Bengals as well. In fact, technically the Bengals should get a higher award since they were better than the Ravens. It's all based on statistics. The numbers don't lie.
