I thought the first down Edelman got was BS, as it really looked like he was out before thrusting the ball past the marker. That led to the game-winning TD.

SlickyTrickyDamon
01-11-2015, 05:04 PM
The rule is not going to change. It's not a bad rule. You have to maintain ball possession. They've put it up for review a couple of times and it never goes anywhere.

#1-norm-fan
01-11-2015, 05:15 PM
No, it's an awful rule. It's always been an awful rule. Mike Pereira, while discussing why it was the right call after the game even acknowledged it's a bad rule. If the guy catches the football, gets his feet down and "makes a football move", the question of whether it's a catch or not should be over. If he loses the ball after that should be a fumble. It shouldn't retroactively take the catch away. It's retarded.

#1-norm-fan
01-11-2015, 05:19 PM
Then again, Mike Pereira also said "He had control but not possession" so I'm not sure he's not just trying to fuck with us.

#1-norm-fan
01-11-2015, 05:29 PM
The football move wasn't a factor. He said "forget the steps" when it was brought up that Dez had control of the football and was taking steps. The problem was when he went to the ground and the ball came out. Which is fucking retarded. You shouldn't "forget the steps". Like I said, once a receiver has possession, it shouldn't be able to be retroactively taken away.

Would bet that rule gets dropped or overhauled before next season since the NFL pays attention more when stuff like that happens in the playoffs or to big market/name teams. Tuck rule was the same issue for years before the NFL finally dropped it.

Apparently the ref who called the Dez Bryant no catch was the same ref for the original Calvin Johnson rule game.

Flacco's also kinda shit in the regular season and a big reason his team missed the playoffs last year and needed help from another team to get in this year.

When was the last time Peyton didn't make the playoffs or even needed someone to lose to get in? Even with some of those teams not being terribly talented especially on the defensive side of the ball?

Peyton's problem is having way too many "one and done's" and having the bulk being at home. He has a couple of big game wins but too few for someone of his status in the GOAT talk.

9 "one and done" losses (next closest is 4) and 6 playoff home losses (next closet is 3).

That and he's like a Bizzaro Flacco when it comes to playoff records. Flacco has a lot of road playoff wins while Peyton has a lot of home playoff losses.

#1-norm-fan
01-11-2015, 08:46 PM
It just seems funny to me that it's such a knock on him by his haters. If he doesn't make the playoffs at all those 9 years, or even half of them, I don't think he gets the same flack. Despite it being a much worse thing to do. It doesn't make sense.

Like I said, I'll take the guy who HAS shown he can win big games but also loses a lot because he's so fucking good in the regular season that he has a shitload of opportunities over the guy who has won a higher percentage of playoff games but struggles to make the playoffs in order to play the big games to begin with. And also struggles to get a bye when he does get there while the other usually gets to skip the wild card round. And again, that's not even factoring in that the second guy who struggles in the regular season has had much better teams surrounding him than the other one did for most of those one and dones.

He has his shortcomings. He just does. Pointing them out doesn't make one a hater. Really all of his flaws are only relevant in a "best of all time" conversation anyhow. He's one of the best QBs ever but in the "who is the greatest ever?" discussion, things like playoff wins and SB wins matter.

#1-norm-fan
01-12-2015, 04:02 AM
I agree. To an extent at least. You still have to factor in the teams surrounding him. Dan Marino belongs in that conversation regardless of his lack of rings. But when someone tries to argue someone who isn't remotely in the ballpark of a Peyton Manning as far as just playing the QB position like a fucking beast simply because they have as many or more rings or playoff wins, it's a joke. There are guys who make teams a contender on a yearly basis and there are guys who piggyback, and even then, fail at times.

The 2011 Colts season alone and how it compares to the previous 10 years should be enough to tell you Peyton Manning is a fucking God who belongs in a discussion only with the greatest QBs of all time.

I told all my friends this last week that the Colts had a serious shot because Peyton was hurt and the only reason I knew he was hurt was because he missed two practices. Peyton wouldn't miss a practice for nothing. This guy held a press conference denouncing the decision to cut training camp practices a few years ago. The moment I heard Peyton missed two practices, I knew he was legit hurt. Any real Colt fan could of told you that.

I dont see how Manning would come back for another season having to both rehab the torn quad and learn everything new under a new coaching staff. The only reason would be for a farewell tour but i think Manning is one of the few that wouldn't have a problem going out without the hoopla.

Only logical thing to do is to promote Adam Gase or Jack Del Rio to head coach. That would mean no major changes on either side of the ball. However, with Adam Gase getting some interviews, we may very well be looking for another Offensive Coordinator for the 2nd year in a row.

As far as Manning and the QB issue is concerned, unless the front office got a lot of faith in BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCK OS-WEILER, we may very well grab another QB down the road in the draft. Problem with that is, there ain't a lot of lookers in this year's class after Winston and (if he declares) Mariota.

I was as critical of Garrett as anyone and wanted him gone last year but taking play calling duties away from him seemed to do wonders. Suddenly they were coming in looking prepared week in, week out which was the biggest issue before. I'd like to see that kind of discipline continue through another year though to make sure it's not a mirage.

Hopefully Marinelli comes back, too. What he did with such an under-talented, insanely injury-riddled defense to at least make them average and come through in big moments when the offense needed it was amazing. If Sean Lee can actually make it through the season and they can get a little more talent on that side of the ball, they can be great.

Colts Josh McNary currently facing criminal rape charges.
Prosecutors have filed charges of rape, criminal confinement with bodily injury and battery resulting in bodily injury against Indianapolis Colts backup linebacker Josh McNary.

Peg McLeish, a spokeswoman in the city prosecutor's office, confirmed Wednesday that the charges were filed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, two Indianapolis police officers said a 29-year-old woman accused an unknown man they later determined to be McNary of attacking her in the early morning hours of Dec. 1. Police, according to the report, determined the man was McNary after investigating a cellphone the woman claimed she took from the man's apartment.

In the report, police said the woman also picked McNary's image out of a group of photos.

The police also wrote that when they arrived at McNary's apartment to investigate, McNary said: "I know why you're here." The report said McNary claimed to have preserved evidence because he expected the police would be coming.

Not a huge deal now since the secondary was mostly awful all night (and it's, you know, over), but another sign of dreadful officiating this year.

What are you talking about? The officiating this post season has been tremendous.

I might be setting myself up for disappointment here, but I really think the Colts are going to win tomorrow. I don't think the Pats are going to run all over us. Arthur Jones has been playing so good. Vontae has been the best CB in the league this year. He.should of been All Pro over Revis. I know Gronk it's going to be Gronk, but something special is happening with the Colts. I feel like Luck is about to beat Peyton, Brady and Rodgers.

After tonight. Colts v Packers in Superbowl.

Bill Belichick's move is to list people as Probable. Which cannot be denied. Everybody is Probable.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading a story about Brady being listed as questionable every game.
