It's conceivable that Seattle won't make the playoffs. I personally think they will but stranger things have happened. The difference between Seattle this year and Baltimore/NYG of years past is that the 'Hawks last year were convincingly one of the best teams all season long. At no point did it ever feel flukey that they were going to make/win the Super Bowl. If you're telling me that in week 11 or 12 of 2012 that Baltimore would be the SB champion I'm calling bullshit. Those two teams (BAL/NYG) over-achieved and got hot at the right time while Seattle was a legit contender the entire time. Good teams like that don't just fade away.

And if the 49ers are really good, and you have one of those wild card races where there's a division with three 10-5 teams in it, then Seattle could easily be the odd man out under the right circumstances. Actually I don't agree because Wilson doesn't have to get injured for what I'm saying to apply. Atlanta last year might be a better example because Matt Ryan played all 16 games even though they went 4-12 and literally everyone picked them to be good (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000235438/article/2013-nfl-predictions-falcons-packers-49ers-will-reign-in-nfc). And it isn't a ridiculous argument to make because it happens to at least one top team in the NFL every year, teams that seem to have the depth and the inability to be bad, but they start with a couple of early losses, have the wrong injuries at the wrong time and just never get their act together. I think it's more likely to happen to a team like Denver or San Francisco, but I don't think it's inconceivable to think that it could happen to Seattle, they've been good for two seasons but I don't that's enough to determine whether they're capable of having a down year.

The Falcons though you could make the argument that the other shoe was bound to drop. They mortgaged their future when they made the Julio trade, basically becoming a "stars and scrubs" type of team (just like my beloved Tigers), and when one of those stars (Julio) went down, it crippled them.

Seattle isn't in such a position. They have a ton of depth at key spots. They could have a down year, sure, but I would be incredibly surprised if they win less than 9 games

Ravens are better overall than they were in 2012, especially on defense but it would surprise me if they get to the Super Bowl. The offense was the problem last year and most of the blame was on Ray Rice being awful but at least for the preseason they've shown the ability to run the ball. Also I don't think everyone knew how important Pitta was to Flacco until he missed most of last year, so having him healthy is a huge plus.

Picking preseason games takes some skill since you have to know the backups, position battles and coaching strategy (ie which coaches give a fuck about preseason games). Ultimately it is kind of dumb but the lines are usually easier to figure out at least in the middle 2 weeks.

In the press conference and in other explanations of the incident his wife came out and basically made it sound like she instigated him to a point where he had no alternative but to hit her to get her off of him. They sold it like there was equal blame and that he was being wrongfully labeled as a monster for a borderline accident. The video told the story of a ruthless cold hearted beast that bashed his wife's face in then dragged her body away like a caveman.

I just did see this now after working all day and going to RAW. Completly shocked at the reaction to the vdeo but its what it is. What does this have to do with anything? Female on male violence isn't fine. But male on female violence is far worse (especially in this situation given size/strength/weight disparity) because of the amount of potential damage that could stem from it. It isn't alright but she isn't going to kill him by slapping him. You are looking at this from a standpoint of principal. I am looking at from a standpoint of reality/severity. There are levels of violence. The law recognizes levels of violence. This would likely fall under "excessive force." If my girlfriend gets angry at me and slaps me, that does not give me the right to beat her within an inch of her life. If my girlfriend slaps me, I have a sore face. If I punch my girlfriend with full force, she is going to the hospital.

Both not okay. But one is far more severe than the other. One might kill someone and the other one means a red cheek for 30 minutes.
