Based on a quick skim of a DC wiki, doesn't look like they're actual characters from the comics.

Kalyx triaD

Then it would be an honor if they were to pop up in the official universe, though it seems like something more likely before DCnU.

It seems likely that the Batman in the coming Justice League film will be the Batman who 'rose' in a recent epic movie. Take this as you will.

Also, Arrow is great this week. Last week was an interesting twist on the Royal Flush Gang. This week is great. I know China White, but I'm not sure if the 'damsel in distress/tortured soul' is exclusive to the show.

I also love the little relationship/love triangle involving Ollie and Merlin. SHit's gonna get epic in a few.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder hinted that the Superman film, due out June 14, 2013 (see "Warners Flogs 'Man of Steel'"), will lead into Warners’ Justice League (see "Warner Bros. Slates 'Justice League' Movie for 2015") in an interview with the New York Post. The Post asked Snyder whether he’d been talking to the studio "...about integrating Man of Steel into a larger superhero universe," and got a non-denial denial. "I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler," Snyder said. "I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course."

CW's Amazon Lead Details:

She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her. And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.

Also her name is Iris, not Diana.

Why Iris? That just seems unnecessary.

Lock Jaw
11-30-2012, 03:08 AM
Probably because they want to "save" Wonder Woman for their supposed Justice League movie, so they are just verrrry loosely borrowing some ideas for the "Amazon" show.

Nowhere Man
11-30-2012, 01:22 PM
Okay, apparently, they're not changing her name to Iris, but just using a code name to try and prevent speculation. Which, considering that Wonder Woman is one of the most easily recognizable superheroes in pop-culture history, is like doing a Batman TV show and trying to keep the Bruce Wayne role a secret by changing his name to Dan.

I know I have seen pics of Artemis going around in a Wonder Woman costume before. No idea the context of the story, though.

Yeah, Artemis replaced Diana as WW for a little bit back in the 90s, and weirdly enough, Diana was her sidekick. It was very stupid.

Manu Bennett, a fan favorite from the Spartacus TV series, will portray Slade Wilson in the CW’s Arrow TV series. As comic fans are well aware, Slade Wilson is the alter ego of Deathstroke, a major DC villain created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in The New Teen Titans #2 in 1980. The Deathstroke character has already made an appearance on Arrow where he was seen in costume (played by another actor) in a very brief flashback scene.

Bennett will appear as Slade Wilson in multiple episodes of Arrow, some of which will include flashbacks to the South Pacific island of Lian Yu where Oliver Queen and Wilson were marooned together and formed an uneasy alliance.

According Entertainment Weekly, Wilson will continue to appear as the Gaul Crixus in the final season of the Spartacus TV series, while filming multiple episodes of Arrow for this season. No word yet on when Bennett’s Slade Wilson will shed his normal identity and get in costume as Deathstroke/Terminator. Bennett, who is from New Zealand, will also play an Orc Chieftain in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films.

I find myself (most specifically with Bruce) picturing a combination of the "child" voices from that one episode of Justice League when they got turned into kids and those Arby's commercials where they pitch up the adult voices to make them sound like kids on a playground instead of adults in an office (for pretty much everyone else besides Clark and Diana).

Kalyx triaD
12-03-2012, 04:19 PM
Yeah I imagine the JLU kids episode voices. For those that weren't there; I imagine Power Girl having a husky though less zany Honey Boo Boo voice, J'onn having a smoother low black kid's voice, Barry(Wally?) having a fast ADHD voice, and Hal having a mature toned balanced voiced.

Looks fine to me. The 'thick scuba suit' thing is kinda the norm for movie superhero costumes and even gets fair explanation in the recent Spider-Man movie. I don't think there's a way around it, unless you want something kinda whacky looking in the vein of Kick-Ass (which is telling in that his attire was almost parody).

Gail Simone has been let go (http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/12/09/gail-simone-fired-from-batgirl), via email, as writer of Batgirl.

Interestingly, when a follower tweeted at her, "Did you not put enough women in refrigerators or something?", referring to her coining of the phrase about the treatment of women in comics (Kyle Rayner's girlfriend was murdered and stuffed in his fridge). Simone simply replied, "Funny you should say that."

I've always enjoyed Simone's work, and I follow her on Twitter and Tumblr because she is one of a few creators who actively engages with her fan base. And not just in a passing, 'I'm only responding to this because I feel obligated to', sense, but one in which she often writes lengthy, well-thought-out and sometimes argumentative posts about her thoughts on gender and social issues in comics. Can't help but think that maybe the DC brass stumbled on to one of her more openly critical posts, maybe.

Colton Haynes ("Teen Wolf") has joined the cast of the CW's "Arrow", TV Guide reports. He'll play none other than longtime Green Arrow sidekick Roy Harper.

With Ollie's little sister having Speedy as a nickname, I'd think they were going to promote her something down the line. Also, I'd think they wouldn't get in the sidekick business so soon.

Krimzon7
12-12-2012, 08:21 AM
So, do you think Ollie will kill Merlin's dad in the season finale, finally sending Merlin off the deep end and starting the feud between the two?

Kalyx triaD
12-12-2012, 08:45 AM
I have been wondering how they will evolve the Merlin thing, since so far he's a nice, sympathetic character. Then again Lex also started this way in Smallville, so I guess that would raise the tragedy level. They would need to find a way to make him adopt archery and then get to Ollie's level, which is Hawkeye level badassery. Just as interested in seeing Laur- Dinah's transformation into Black Canary, since a lot more nods were given that way.

With the well done Huntress arc out of the way, I would really like to see Ollie just add a damn mask to his suit. While I've been conditioned to accept domino masks and glasses somehow disguising a whole face, mere face paint is pushing it.

I just read

Batman Year One
Dark Victory
Hush

I was slighty disappointed with Batman Year one. I thought it was going to be different and delve more into his trainning, and pre-Batman things. Still good.

Dark Victory I really liked. I enjoyed the Robin orgin, and it was good mystery. Not as good as Long Halloween.

Hush was really good. I really liked the interaction between Batman and Catwoman. Also a good mystery, and the ultimate revel was a little confusing, but it still worked it terms of the story.

I think Hush was my favorite.

Yeah, I loved their exchanges and general relationship in the DCAU. This Little Piggy is easily one of JLU's sweetest episodes. I dunno. Something about them together, or even not together but still obviously into each other, gels better with me than the alternative. But eh. This is the woman who used to be able to bring down anybody with one article, who never gave up on chasing a story regardless of the personal danger it put her in, who believes in the power of the media to have a lasting and wide-reaching impact. I know Lois Lane, and this is not her.

MOTHER OF GOD:

First rumored by Latino Review last fall, IGN has now confirmed with Guillermo del Toro that plans are underway for a DC Comics ensemble film that will star quite a few of the company's supernatural characters. Similar in lineup to the current "Justice League Dark" series, the film version is being developed with the title Dark Universe and has just hired a mystery writer.

"I'm working on it," del Toro says. "I'm writing the outline and we're already in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. People are probably going to be happy with who we have chosen. He accepted. I've been courting this writer, who I think is the perfect guy for this job. We're doing it. Hopefully it will happen."

The Pacific Rim director goes on to hint that the lineup for the project includes Swamp Thing, The Demon, John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre and the father/daughter pair of Zatara and Zatanna.

"The movement for this happened before [The Avengers]," del Toro adds about DC building its own cinematic universe. "They were already galvanized to launch 'Justice League' and they were galvanized to make their universe cohesive... They are really, really, with 'Superman', very, very confident with what they have. They are now feeling they have two pillars. Batman and Superman... There's a foundation that now they can build on."

I couldn't even report this right I just copy-pasta'd the whole thing. Holy shit.

They still would have questioned her, as they did Blue and Impulse. It wasn't an interview, it was an investigation. We're not calling it a conspiracy, but there's a good chance she was removed from whatever they had planned for her.

Or maybe it was a cameo that would lead to nothing anyway, but bear in mind there is a generational theme with this season as the original Team have their own proteges. It may have been planned that Barbara would recruit Steph as a new Batgirl (or simply Spoiler if DC wants to sell Babs as THE Batgirl right now). I wouldn't put it past them.

And while it would be easy to remove Steph or recolor her hair, the best flag would be any plots involving Babs that should lead to a Steph introduction/promotion but doesn't.

Considering it was the 80s and Byrne's Superman at the time was kind of a Reaganite yuppie, I wasn't too upset with it. Yeah, it's annoying to see one of my favorite characters written to be an idiot, but A) it serves the purpose of the story, and B) it's an Elseworld story, therefore non-canon, so even though I don't really care for DKR, that doesn't really bother me that much.

Man, Starman Omnibus vol 3 paperback coming out at the beginning of April. Can't wait, Tbh. Gonna wait for the release of all of these before I continue into the story. Gonna read them as they come along like it's a new series or something because I'm pathetic. :(

Man, has anyone been current on Young Justice? There are so many twists and turns popping off.

It's kinda cool the way they've written off the 'Heavy Hitters' while leaving the big time bad guys here for the kids to deal with. I'm really intrigured with the relationship between Nightwing and Robin. It seems like Kaldur/Artemis is in a world of trouble. It's good to see Deathstroke!!! Theres like five forces at work here: Reach/Black Beetle, The League/Team, The Light/LOD, The Old Heads and Rimbor and Darkseid ( G Gordon is having a helluva impact on the public perception of the League). This is seriously one of the most epic cartoons ever created.

The current seems like a re-imagining of the Cadmus arc from DCAU. Just in a more modern media-focused sense. It's really good. And I love the attention given to characters even the DCAU gave little attention to. I hope this universe goes beyond Young Justice. I'd watch a Justice League or Suicide Squad done in this universe.

I am not a huge fan of the Jamie Reyes Blue Beetle, but they keep pushing him hard in everything. Yet his comic book still got canceled. I do like that they have added the bit about the future and Impulse into the mix. Makes Blue Beetle slightly more interesting.

Gotta admit, don't remember this 'arc' you speak of. Would love to check it out and have cataloged for possible future reference. Which episodes/series did it encompass?

Blue Beetle seems a tad forced, but it's great to see somebody OTHER than the Bat Family/Supercrew get the Rub from DC. Three Beetles is just one from getting cheesy. I know they've opened the door for a Green Lantern like Corps of independent thinking Beetles, but spare me all that.

Some interesting possibilities re-Justice League and the DC movie universe.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an interesting rumor to share. With superhero properties there's always so much secrecy that the internet is flooded with speculation. This bit that showed up today should definitely be classified as rumor, but the guessing game is part of the fun, right? So I thought I'd comment on it.

Batman-On-Film is pretty reputable when it comes to insider Batman stuff. They were all over the Nolan films, for instance, always grabbing info and pics. That's one of the reasons I'm running with this rumor because it comes from them and they vouch for their source.

What they've heard is that WB isn't rushing a new Batfilm into production before Justice League, which makes a lot of sense since they'd have to be pretty far along prep and have a decent script already locked to beat the Justice League's 2015 release date. The date BOF is hearing for the first new Batman solo film is 2017.

So, the new Batman will be introduced in the Justice League and it's still not for sure they're bringing in Henry Cavill's Superman for the film. If Man of Steel flops and is terrible that could mean DC will be doing a complete reversal of Marvel's strategy and introducing everybody in a giant team movie, then spinning off into solo films.

I have a feeling Zack Snyder's Man of Steel will be good and Cavill will be good in it, so that's not too likely, but it's still a head-scratching move from DC. The template has been proven. Are they just too proud to blatantly copy Marvel or just impatient to get at that Avengers money?

Whatever the thought process is, it's make it or break it time for WB and DC. They're either risking missing the superhero craze or rushing some half-assed stuff into production.

Anyway, the rumor makes sense and could just pure educated guess speculation stuff, but still something to ponder, no?

As much as I'm loving YJ, I'm really getting a little turned off by the overload of Beetles. I was really hoping the big apocalyptic future threat would be something along the lines of Darkseid (though considering that they've got bad guys using Apokoliptian tech, and G. Gordon Godfrey was one of Darkseid's lackeys in the comics, I'm sure he'll show up sooner or later), but they're really intent on selling Blue Beetle on us.

I'll say this about Jaime Reyes...This is the most interested I've been in any of the Blue Beetles ever. I think that they've booked the Black Beetle as such a bad ass that they were literally fucked to find a way for Alpha to get outta there with out one of the Heavy Hitters (Especially since Captian Marvel was in the last episode).

I can tolerate maybe one more Beetle in all honestly. Don't wanna see another one, but one more will make me go all 'okay this is getting cheesy'.

Get the odd feeling that the Reach/Light's partnership is trying to prepare the world for Darkseid by cultivating metahumans. As if conquering him and taking over Apokalips is the endgame. I'm spit balling here, but The Reach and Darkseid could be in some type of turf war.

I'll be 31 when the next Batman movie comes out if the 2017 release year is correct. I'm getting ddling ood. I was only 3 when Keaton's Batman came out.

Is YJ ever gonna be on dvd? I'd like to start from the beginning.

It seems a little odd that Aquaman was left out. I mean, yeah, he's the one that everyone jokes on and whatnot, but DC has been really big on trying to revitalize the character, what with him playing a big part in the Justice League comic and Geoff Johns making his book one of his pet projects for a while. Seems like having him kick some ass in the movie would go a long way to changing the common opinion of him.

I really want to see this. SL always looked fascinatingly weird. Yeah, it probably would have been a train wreck, but it's certainly one of the most creative takes on Superman that I've ever seen. I'd love to see some of that concept art get added into the new series (just, y'know, not the stuff with Nicolas Cage fighting polar bears or Brainiac having a gay robot sidekick)

I would love to read the script and see the production designs for that film.

I'm glad WB isn't including Cyborg inte JL film. I don't really think the character is that great but Geoff Johns sure seems to love him.

To be fair, we were "pretty much guaranteed" that Superman Returns would have been a good movie also. I actually liked it, but the point is, it was pretty well panned in spite of having a directorial genius, Kevin Spacey, and a guy who studied the nuances of Chrisopher Reeve's acting in the Donner films.

I wrote this concept for a Wonder Woman TV show just to flex my creative muscle and came up with something I think could run a good two or three seasons then I got bored and erased everything.
