Will Smith as WHO?!

Calm your tits. It's a pretty good star casting. But Jared Leto as the Joker?

Heath Ledger comparisons will be made.

Wait, so is this Suicide Squad cast official?

Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto and lil' John McClane?

If it is, then fuck me, never saw that coming. Expected those rumours to be total bullshit.

How much is Will Smith being paid for this is the real question everyone should be asking.

He ain't the summer blockbuster draw he used to be.

Here's hoping they've actually got a solid, entertaining flick on their hands instead of hoping for drawing power based on casting

Go on...guess which one WB is actually counting on people coming to see this movie. I'll be in the corner giggling insanely.

Was kinda hoping Hardy was reprising his role as Bane...not sure how that would work, but it seems they're sorta telling us to just forget everything before this point in their cinematic universe, so whatevs.

Kalyx triaD
12-04-2014, 07:41 PM
It will be kinda weird and if they're able to double dip I say give Angela Basette another shot at Amanda Waller. The real 'female Nick Fury with less morals' version.

JimmyMess
12-04-2014, 08:45 PM
Read the article where Christian Bale talked about Affleck as Batman.... and I'm thinking, fuck you Bale, the fans begged and pleaded (and the studio) for you to reprise the role, and you said that you were finished... And now you're jealous and that it saying it was possible you would have returned as Batman? That is irritating as tits!

JimmyMess

sounds weird but i'll have an open mind about it

Nowhere Man
12-11-2014, 12:13 AM
I guess if there's any channel to do a TV show about aliens from a comic book, Syfy would be the place to do it.

I think this has more potential to be good than Gotham, because there's not as much room for pointless name-dropping ("Ooooh, here's a young Harvey Dent, Selina Kyle, Edward Nygma, etc.") so they'd actually have to try to make the setting and characters themselves unique and interesting. Plus, from what I've heard, it's taking place on the Man of Steel version of Krypton, and those were some of the only really good parts about that movie, so yeah, I'd kinda like to see more of it-- as long as the whole thing isn't just about a young Jor-El palling around with General Zod or whatever.

Kalyx triaD
12-11-2014, 07:59 PM
That's funny because Man of Steel established precisely that were cool when they were younger.

Lock Jaw

Personally, I hope that it isn't the Man of Steel version of Krypton. I finally want to see a more vibrant/colourful version done in live action...

Just got done with "Throne of Atlantis which should be called "Why you don't fuck with Aquaman". The action and dialogue are great overall its a vast improvement over Justice League WAR I give it 8/10

One important thing here that I love NO BATMAN like he doesn't even get into physical fights in this one.I say its great because it was still an awesome story told about a very underrated hero and didn't need Batman to prop it up which I think DC thinks they need to do most of the time.

Its also weird just how central Cyborg has been lately

Shadow
01-14-2015, 01:53 PM
During Nu52, DC decided they needed to focus on something other then the Trinity of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman. So they set up a dart board, put all their characters on it, and threw a dart at someone. Cyborg was chosen to be the focus of Nu52 for some...reason hence why he's so central. At least at first.

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation (via THR) have revealed the voice cast for the upcoming animated film Batman vs. Robin, which is inspired by the Batman: The Court of Owls storyline from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

Jason O’Mara, Sean Maher, and David McCallum will all return in the respective roles of Batman, Robin, and Alfred. With Jeremy Sisto (“Suburgatory”) joining as the voice of Talon, the Court’s almost unbeatable assassin; Grey Griffin as a character named Samantha; and “Weird” Al Yankovic as The Dollmaker, a Batman villain who previously has appeared on “Arrow” and been teased on “Gotham”; Robin Atkin Downes as Grandmaster; Peter Onorati as Draco; and fan-favorite Batman voice Kevin Conroy will guest star as Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s father.

Jay Oliva, who previously directed Batman: Assault on Arkham and both parts of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns in addition to storyboarding Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will helm the feature from a script by comic writer J.M. DeMatteis.

So we're keeping track, this is in-line with the other Nu52 animated movies and serves as direct sequel to Son of Batman.

I might be being too critical,Marvel does not have their heavy hitters so they had to make new ones. I'm sure if they had control of the likes of Spider man and Wolverine They'd be plastered all over the screen and Capt America would still be a day player that hardly anyone who didn't read up on him would give a flying fuck about.

Vastardikai

I'd prefer Slade.

Especially if it's epic bad ass Slade. Like some elite military unit is sent in, Splinter Cell style with Night vision and everything, to apprehend a high priority target. Early in the mission, a shot is fired. They return fire, but nothing, no one was hurt.

One troop notices his goggles are malfunctioning, so he switches to a flashlight. Fellow troops warn him about what happens when flash lights meet night vision.

They find the target in a warehouse. Half of the team go in to secure the target, including flashlight guy. The rest secure the area. They black bag and secure him. They call the outside team, tell them they have who they're looking for. They hear a "10-4," but the voice sounds unfamiliar.

Suddenly, Floodlights go on, blinding the unit. We see faint glimpses of a figure, but no too much going on to see what happened (I'll actually allow for shaky cam here). Flashlight guy is the only one left. He faces a man in orange and black, with a mask that reveals but one eye. Flashlight guy raises his gun, but a quick flash of steel and the gun is on the ground, alongside the victim's severed hand. Flashlight guy is in shock, and he asks... "How?"

It is then we see highlights from the entire mission, through the eye of Deathstroke. He is the one who fired the shot, which disabled Flashlight guy's night vision. He was gone before they could even return fire. He tracked them from just out of sight, using the light from the flash light to follow their movements. As the securing group was searching the premises, he was taking them out one by one. He was finally the one who turned on the floodlight, and in the chaos, him taking out the remaining unit with his sword and gun.

We finally see Slade standing over Flashlight Guy, who is frantically trying not to bleed out from his severed hand. One round to the back of the head from Deathstroke ends it. He removes the black bag and the target thanks him for the rescue. Slade asks his name. The target gives it to him.

Slade replies "Just the man I was looking for..." and beheads him. It turns out that the target was on Slade's hit list. He dealt with the Elite Unit to secure his getaway.

Or something like that.

So....it sounds like they're just doing a live-action version of that "Assault on Arkham" animated movie from last year. And I mean, that was good and all, but couldn't we make our Suicide Squad movie actually about the fucking Suicide Squad? Plus, there are a lot of elements that are still definitely Aquaman-- the A-buckle on his pants, the scale pattern tattoos that reference his old shirt, the big trident, and he did have a scraggly beard and long hair back in the 90s, so it's not like this is something we've never seen before.

Honestly, I like pretty much all of the costumes they've rolled out for the new movie-- not crazy about how grayed-out everything is, but if they're really sticking to making "serious business" superhero movies, at least they all look cool.

While Supergirl and Titans are up in the air as far as being a part of the DC CW-verse, it seems an official third spin-off is in the works. Essentially "Brave and the Bold", where two heroes are teamed up. Brandon Routh's Atom is attached already. Perhaps we'll see Vixen (headlining a CW-Verse online animated spin-off)?

The Flash/Arrow spinoff series is happening.

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”), Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” Superman Returns), Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”), Caity Lotz (“Arrow”), Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”), and Franz Drameh (Edge of Tomorrow), with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”) and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”).

Based on the characters from DC Comics, the new series hails from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow”) serves as executive producer alongside Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Warehouse 13″) and Sarah Schechter (“The Flash,” Pan).

Well, they did just open up the multiverse in Flash, so I guess they can do crossovers by having Barry show up in the parallel universe with Supergirl in it.

On the subject of DC's multiverse, I just finished up reading The Multiversity, and got caught up with Convergence. The fact that they're running two big multiverse stories back-to-back like that is more signs that the higher-ups at DC have no idea what the hell they're doing (though to be fair, Multiversity was supposed to come out during the launch of the New 52 and was plagued by delays). And there is a huge gap in quality between the two stories.

Multiversity is absolutely insane, and I love it. I'm admittedly a sucker for Grant Morrison's crazy, meta, "comics about comics" kind of stories as it is, but this series is Grant Morrison times Grant Morrison. There's a ton of follow-ups from previous stories like Final Crisis and Superman Beyond, ideas lifted from Seven Soldiers and even going back to stuff like The Invisibles, but it's also engaging enough that you don't need to have done your homework to get what's going on. While the first and final issues about the House of Heroes and all that are fun, they really pale in comparison to the stuff in between-- Morrison and Quitely using the Charlton comics characters to do their own spin on Watchmen was amazing, and 'Thunderworld Adventures' made me wonder out loud why Morrison's never written Captain Marvel before. And 'Ultra Comics #1' seriously screwed with my head. It's all very crazy and head-trippy and almost obnoxiously meta, but it's also probably the best stuff that DC's put out since the reboot.

Convergence, on the other hand, meh. It's a lot more straightforward-- Brainiac gathers up cities from parallel universes and makes them fight to survive-- but since the main plot focuses mostly on the heroes from Earth-2, I couldn't really get into it because I absolutely do not give a shit about Earth-2. The tie-in comics are rather great, since you get to see Pre-Flashpoint (and even Pre-Crisis) versions of all your favorite characters again, but since they've already announced that the post-Convergence continuity is sticking with the New 52, it feels almost like an insult. "Oh, you like your old versions of Superman and Batman? Wanna see them again? Well, too bad! They're getting put away for good, and we're going back to the version you hate, only even dumber this time!"

It's a shame that the really interesting and fun multiverse-based story is the one that doesn't have any actual bearing on the main DCU, but the boring and contrived one does.

Lock Jaw
05-21-2015, 08:27 PM

I t hink both companies are trying to hard to cater to their fanbase to the point that they are making all their titles irrelevant. They need to go back a few steps for a bit and not worry about renumbering every few years or wiping the slate clean every 5-10. They need to start sticking to single issue storylines with the occasional multi and keep continuity a little less strict. When i was a young kid I picked up a comic because the cover interested me not because of the issue number or at times who was even in it.

Things got so messed up in the 90's and now the kids that were buying them in the 90's are repeating the same damn mistakes thst were made back then.
JAne Foster as Thor... good
Just about every supporting cast member ever as a Hulk.. Bad
Couple of X-titles good.... 15 bad
They need to stop mass publishing their top tier heroes and just give us quality

Okay, so Convergence just ended. Overall, it's not a great series--the villains are boring and there's more telling than showing in terms of how big and important things are supposed to be-- but the effect it had on the DC cosmos is kinda cool. So after a bunch of really confusing nonsense with Brainiac and some really dull villains named Telos and Deimos, Post-Crisis Superman and Parallax decide to travel back to the original Crisis On Infinite Earths and help their Pre-Crisis counterparts stop the collapse of the original Multiverse. According to the story, this "stabilizes" reality and puts a new, "evolved" Multiverse in place (the same one from Grant Morrison's Multiversity).

What it means out of character is A) No more 'Crisis' events to reinvent reality over and over, and B) Writers can pick and choose from any incarnation of DC they want. Right now the "New 52/DC You" universe is still the primary one, but if, say, someone wants to use Silver Age Batman for a story, they can just go ahead and do it without any gimmicks or weird qualifiers, because Silver Age DC still exists out there in the new multiverse.

I'm not thrilled that they're keeping the New 52 universe around (especially since some of the new "DC You" status quo looks absolutely wretched), but if it means they're going to focus on establishing the new setting and letting it settle into its own groove instead of just resetting and rebooting every couple of years, then I can get behind that.

DC Animation's going to do an adaptation of something called "The Killing Joke". Pfft, sounds stupid, nobody's gonna watch something that sounds so dumb. There's talk of some guys named Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil being involved, like that's anything special. Just a waste of money. We should start a petition so they cancel it and make another Aqua Man movie. Nobody's gonna watch a "Killing Joke" animated movie, ugh.

Meanwhile they announced a "Superman: Lois and Clark" series spinning out of whatever that recent event was.... forget its name for some reason....

Got "excited" for a minute because I thought it would be a series about the pre-Flashpoint version of Superman, but it just seems to be another "alternate reality" story...

Ollie's new look as "The Green Arrow"

Arrow
- Beyond the casting of Damien Darhk, there is another big villain coming.
- DC Comics characters Anarky and Mr. Terrific will debut. Mr. Terrific will be gay.
- Diggle will finally be getting a costume/helmet. The actor said he will be called "Black Driver", but I would imagine that would have to be a joke.

The Flash
- Zoom will be the "Big Bad" of the season.
- Teddy Sears cast as Jay Garrick.
- Shantel VanSanten cast as Patty Spivot.
- Wally West also confirmed to appear.

Legends of Tomorrow
- Hawkman is also in it

Supergirl
- Peter Facinelli cast as Maxwell Lord
- Two villains confirmed to appear: Reactron and Livewire

Justice League: Gods and Monsters is great. It's floating around. Michael C.Hall as "Batman" / Kirk Langstrom is brilliant and if they ever use Man-Bat in the movies, he should play Kirk Langstorm.

Because there would be a riot otherwise, Mark Hammil will indeed be the Joker for The Killing Joke animated movie.

And since he rarely works without his other half, we can assume Kevin Conroy will finally work on the project that was destined since he first stepped in the booth over 20yrs ago.

DC Cinematic Universe Details:

Batman is the one who personally captured every single member of the Suicide Squad and in the trailer, we’re seeing a flashback to how he captured Harley Quinn. (No mention if he gets the Joker, too.)
Justice League was the jumping off point for this whole DC universe idea. “What we are doing is ground up all the way. It is one giant story,” Snyder said. “The first thing we had was the Justice League concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our Wonder Woman, our Aquaman. They have their own creative concepts that supports them, but they do serve Justice League in the coming together of those heroes. I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe. I have given everyone amazing access to our story, to me, and what we are doing. All the films have like-minded conceptual jumping on points.”
Batman will have a lot of history to him. “We are playing him 45 or 46” years old, Snyder said. “He has been Batman for 20 years. All the history is there. Was there a Robin at one time? Possibly. We want to assume that Batman has reached this point in his life and career as a superhero, and Superman represents a sort of philosophical change. He is a paradigm shift for Batman: ‘I’ve been fighting criminals all my life, trying to find justice, and now I am confronted with a concept that is transcendent to me.’ In the face of Superman, a man robbing a bank doesn’t matter. He’s having a crisis of conscience. ‘Am I really just a vigilante who stalks the alleys of Gotham?’ It is rich stuff that he deals with. Ben does an amazing job.”
The Batman v Superman trailer already reveals that Robin has died, but this interview strongly suggests Commissioner James Gordon will also already be dead. This would confirm a rumor that surfaced several months back.
To some, Batman may be considered the villain of Batman v Superman: “It’s a point of view thing,” said Snyder. “That is why ‘Dawn of Justice’ is the full title. What it does is allow us to start this conversation.”
Bruce Wayne will not be living in Wayne Manor in Batman v Superman. He’s in a lakeside house called “The Glasshouse.”
Snyder was very intimidated at the thought of doing a Batman solo film. “If it was a Batman movie it would be a much more difficult proposition because of how good Chris’ movies are,” said Snyder. “We live in gratitude to those movies. Chris set a tone for the DC Universe, and separated us from Marvel in a great way. We are the legacy of those movies.”
Clark Kent and Lois Lane are now “shacking up” together in Metropolis.
Aquaman has an “elusive cameo” in Batman v Superman. “You will understand he exists,” Snyder said.

More than likely they're going with the spanish kid. He went mainstream with two regular cartoon show appearances on top of the PR climate of having an ethnic hero. If Kord was as transcendent as other A or B-list heroes he'd be a lock but C-listers are the safest to present alternately.

i did not express any hate towards jared leto or what he will do with the role, i know better than to write off an actor's actual interpretation of a character before i've seen it

my hatred, at this advent, lies entirely with the visual presentation, which i am perfectly entitled to not like at face value because it is face value
