This comic seems to capture all the major characteristics of these heroes in their most basic forms.
With this arc coming to a close, I'd love for the "Legion of Delinquents" to come back.

Well...
Young Justice will not have a third season. This season's arc will likely lead to a series finale. Not a cancelation per se, as it will likely tie up the current story lines, but the Young Justice universe is coming to an end.
And probably Green Lantern TAS, too.
Replacing them next year will be Beware the Batman, the GCI bat-show where Bruce teams up with Katana; and Teen Titans Go!, where the Teen Titans anime-ish cartoon returns as a skit comedy (no, seriously).
Life goes on and all that.

That sucks. I've spent the last week catching up on YJ. I didn't really care a lot for it for the first 5 or 6 episodes, but I kept going based off of how you guys were talking and I finished the 5th episode of season 2 last night and wish I had a lot more to go through. Really love it, and now it's gone.:'(

A miniseries called The Hikiteia, from Greg Rucka's run on Wonder Woman (i.e. one of maybe two runs of WW actually worth reading). The basic plot is that Wondy is pledged to protect a woman who killed a bunch of sex-slavers who had killed her sister, and Batman is out to get said woman for being a murdering vigilante. In the end, Batman and Wonder Woman fight, and Wondy beats the living shit out of him, but it doesn't matter because the woman she's protecting commits suicide to atone for the murders.
So yeah, not a particularly happy story (the title's from a Greek tragedy with a similar plot), but probably the best WW story out there.

I know Batman's lost one-on-one to Kobra, Deathstroke, and Prometheus. There are quite a few villains who have beaten Batman in their first encounter, particularly martial artist-types; I'm pretty sure Lady Shiva and Richard Dragon both beat him their first time out, as well as Bronze Tiger, and Karate Kid from the Legion of Super-Heroes has been able to beat him before too.
Oh, and one time Superman beat him nearly to death when Max Lord made him hallucinate that Batman was Darkseid (and was only stopped by Wonder Woman, so that makes her 2 for 2 against both of DC's favorite sons).

DC Comics has announced the that the tear-stained final issues of Fury of Firestorm, Ravagers, Savage Hawkman, Deathstroke, Team 7, and Sword and Sorcery will be published in May. Add in the two books that are going away in April (I, Vampire and DCU Presents) and it appears that 8 titles, almost 15% of the “New 52” are heading for extinction this spring, and that’s not even taking into account the four cancellations that were announced in October and took effect in January (Blue Beetle, Grifter, Legion Lost, Frankenstein, see “New 52 Churn Continues as DC Axes 4”).
While DC has announced a number of new titles including a new JLA series, plus Vibe, Katana, and a new Superman/Man of Steel title from Scott Snyder and Jim Lee (see “Jim Lee and Scott Snyder on New Superman Title”), this new wave of cancellations appears to make room for a platoon of new titles to debut this spring and summer.
A look at the most recent ICv2 sales chart (see “Top 300 Comics—December”) shows that the six newly-cancelled titles all have circulation numbers well below 20,000 copies with Ravagers #7 leading the pack with just over 16,000 copies, followed by Team 7 #3 (at 15,381), Sword and Sorcery #3 (13,752), Savage Hawkman #15 (13,564), Deathstroke #15 (13,528), and Fury of Firestorm #15 (11.997).
Note that while Savage Hawkman, Deathstroke and Fury of Firestorm have been around from the beginning of the “New 52” initiative, the other three cancelled titles were “replacement” books brought on to take the place of previous members of the “New 52” that couldn’t pass muster. Does the high mortality rate among the replacement books serve as an indication that “52” may be a few books too many for DC to sustain at profitable levels?
Nowhere Man
02-09-2013, 03:22 AM
For the life of me, I don't understand their fixation on having 52 different titles going all at once. I get that 52 was one of their best events and all, but in interviews, DiDio himself said that he hated that series, so I don't get why he'd want to make it so integral to the DCnU. Having that many titles just bogs down your creative team.
I do, however, want to see what Scott Snyder comes up with for the new Superman book, considering that Snyder's run on Batman has been awesome.

Sometimes the venue in which an announcement is made can reveal quite a bit about what is being touted. A case in point is DC Comics’ announcement of two new “politically-charged” books, which was trumpeted first on the liberal, politically-themed Huffington Post blog. Taking its cue from the wealth inequality issues that were highlighted by the “Occupy Wall St.” movement, DC has announced the May debuts of two series that look at the growing divide between the rich and the poor in the U.S. from totally different perspectives.
Gail Simone and Freddie Williams III’s The Movement is about disenfranchised superheroes, who become the new voice of the people. As Simone told explained to the Huffington Post, The Movement is all about the shifting role of power in the information age and about “how injustice can affect real people’s lives.”
The other new title, Art Baltazar and Franco’s The Green Team, is about a team of teen trillionaires, and it posits a world in which the rich can purchase superpowers as easily as they can now buy political influence with anonymous contributions to campaign “superpacs.” The difficult task facing DC will be creating “politically-themed” comics that reflect the major issues in our society without unduly alienating one side of the political spectrum or the other. It has been done before in other media—The West Wing TV series managed the task quite well, but this is pretty much “terra incognita” for mainstream superhero comics.
Thus The Movement and The Green Team represent a rather daring move on DC’s part to expand the superhero comic book genre with new politically-charged themes. Given the weakness of some of the traditional comic book genres such as war comics and westerns as well as the weakness of many lesser known superhero titles, perhaps this new initiative will generate some new interest in the superhero genre, which remains the dominant direct market comic book category, but which, like the distribution of wealth in this country, appears to be concentrating its success increasingly in a handful of extremely popular properties (Batman, Avengers, Superman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Green Lantern to name some of the most obvious). This announcement also provides some indication of how DC plans to replace the six “New 52” titles that are slated for cancellation in May (see “DC Cancels Six More Titles”).

Honestly this was the best comic cartoon since JLU. I just wish they had at least one more season, fuck man. There is so much potential here. Can we at least get a DTV movie from this? If they keep the cast and do a DTV once a year, I'll be happy.

Seriously. For one, political comics are almost never good; they're pretty much always heavy-handed and trite, with the writers unable to tell a story or present an issue objectively without their own personal biases taking over. I read superhero stories because I want some escapism, not because I want a lecture.
Also, the notion of an Occupy-themed, anti-corporate, "rich people BAD!" comic being sold as a product by a multi-million-dollar corporation, which in and of itself is a subsidiary of an even bigger entertainment conglomerate, just makes me roll my eyes.

I was surprised that nothing lasting was done. Nightwing is probably the one who actually "lost" the most.
Only stupid part of the whole story is that it was "revealed" that apparently Bruce revealed his secret identity to Joker pretty much after their very first encounter. Don't think he would ever willingly do that, even if he suspected Joker knew something.

This is why I hate reading comics sometimes. All these arcs get hyped up as having big ramifications, and then nothing happens. It was still really solid, no doubt. And I like the dynamic at the end of the Batman #17 where the Bat family seems to be dealing with the fallout in their heads, but other than that yeah. When Joker served the dinner and it was made to look like he'd cut everyone's faces off, it was awesome, but I knew there was no chance he'd actually done it.
It would've been cool if they'd started taking off the bandages and everyone seemed fine and then like one member actually had their face cut off.
But then again everything gets retconned in a year anyways, so who the hell cares.

What might make for an interesting follow-up story: if those weren't the Family's faces in there, then whose faces were they? Maybe, like, Joker comes up with his own "family" out of the victims he mutilated.
That almost definitely won't happen, but I think it would be a neat idea.

Yeah, when they started taking all the bandages off, they never actually took off Jason's so I was like.... "He actually did it to Jason"..... but then in the course of their fight his bandages got ripped off and you could see that he was fine as well, so I was all "Well, so much for that".

Great episode. The awesome fights and great story aside, sometimes it's just the little things that make a show for me-- like when Nightwing is investigating the crime scene in Warworld, and there's a ladder right next to him, but he instead just decides to swan dive down instead because Dick's a circus acrobat.
Also,
Considering how sick I am of Blue Beetle taking over the show, I'm glad they made him a villain, so now I'm supposed to hate him.

Shades of World’s Finest---DC Comics has announced a new team-up series featuring its two most famous heroes, Batman and Superman. Veteran comic book scribe Greg Pak (Hulk) will write the new ongoing Batman/Superman series that is due to debut in June with art by Jae Lee (Inhumans, The Dark Tower).
According to USA Today, Pak and Lee are setting their new Batman/Superman title “in the past of DC’s “New 52” re-launched continuity as the two budding superheroes meet (not without friction) and eventually team-up. Thus the Bruce Wayne/Batman of the new series will be a budding superhero who is new to the cowl, while Superman will be similar to the jeans-wearing young hero re-imagined for the “New 52” by Grant Morrison for the revived Action Comics.
It appears that the title of the new ongoing team-up series will be Batman/Superman, a name that recognizes the primacy of The Dark Knight (in terms of sales at least) in the new DC universe, and also sets it apart from the Superman/Batman series that debuted in 2003 and came to end with the major reworking of the DCU that produced the “New 52” in the fall of 2011. Long time comic book fans will of course remember the long-running World’s Finest comic book series that lasted from 1941 to 1986 and almost always featured DC’s two leading superheroes Superman and Batman.
The announcement of the new Batman/Superman comic comes on the heels of a number of major tweaks to the DC universe including the announcement of a six-pack of cancellations (see “DC Cancels Six More Titles”) and new creative teams for the Green Lantern family of titles (see “New Green Lantern Teams”).
Well that all sounds straight forward enough.

It is an absolute goddamn travesty that YJ is ending. You can tell there was a whole lot they wanted to explore but never got to, and a lot of characters that never got used to their full potential. I would've loved to have seen more of Tim/Robin, especially after they referenced Jason Todd in the memorial room (imagine how Nightwing and Robin would react if they ever got to do another appearance with the Joker), or given a little more character-development time to Beast Boy or Wonder Girl so they're not just glorified background characters. And there's the fact that there have been a bunch of Apokoliptian weapons and gadgets, and that G. Gordon Godfrey is a well-known alias of one of Darkseid's most loyal lackeys, which could have led to some huge incredible reveal in later seasons.
Ah, what could have been....
Oh, and in regards to the new Batman/Superman comic-- wasn't it already pretty much established that Superman and Batman first met in Justice League #1? The way that Bats was talking to GL about Superman made it sound pretty clear that he'd only ever kept tabs on him, that he hadn't actually met the guy yet. Sigh, grumblegrumbleNew52grumblegrumble......
After Trinity War (whenever that happens) I can see DC is building towards another event w/ Darkseid after JLA#1 and Vibe#1.

Batman Incorporated
DC Comics has confirmed that Damien Wayne, better known as Batman’s sidekick Robin, will die a hero’s death in Batman Incorporated #8, releasing Wednesday. Damien, now 10 years old, is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, and thus the grandson of the immortal super-villain, Ra's al Ghul.
Batman Incorporated #8 is written by Grant Morrison (Action Comics, New X-Men), who is in the process of wrapping up a six-year run chronicling the adventures of the Dark Knight Detective. According to DC, the story will "bring together everything Morrison has been building towards since the beginning of the series." The issue is illustrated by Chris Burnham (Officer Downe, Nixon's Pals).
As longtime fans know, this won’t be the first time Batman’s partner in crime fighting has died. During "Batman: A Death in the Family," which took place in Batman #s 426-429 (1988-1989), DC killed off Jason Todd, the second Robin, by way of fan votes via a 900 telephone number.

On Batman Inc:
I had it pretty much spoiled for me on newsarama.... what is the point of having one story saying "Major Plot Point in Batman Inc. revealed", with a big picture of Robin.... and then having another story entitled "*Spoiler*... but will it stick?", with a big picture of Robin, and then another story on comic book deaths. Can pretty much not open any of the stories and get the idea.
Oh, and then of course I had it spoiled for me in the newspaper on Monday, on pretty much the last page, which had a small blurb.
Annnnnyways.... pretty meh. I'm sure I would have been more torn up if this was still pre-New52 and Dick was still Batman. That scene with him and Damian was screaming for it to still be in the old universe. I like the homage with them doing the Adam West Batman opening.
In any case, I am not a big fan of Morrison's work on Batman. Was good after Bruce "died", and for a few months after he came back. I am not a fan of the whole Leviathan angle. Honestly, if they wanted to kill Robin, I would have given Scott Snyder leave to do it in Death of the Family.

- Christian Bale is definitely in talks to return as Batman.
- For the Justice League movie.
- The Dark Knight and Man of Steel universes will be reconciled and merged to form the bases for a DC Cinematic Universe.
You still with me?
- Christopher Nolan will assume a godfather chair like Joss at Marvel and Miller at Fox, overseeing DC movies from here on out. This is something WB/DC was gunning for a long time if past rumors are taken into account.
- Zack Snyder may produce Justice League, and possibly direct it - given the positive buzz from early Man of Steel screenings.

I would for Stephen to portray a big screen version of Ollie, even if it's detached from the CW show. Then again, the tone of the show (already credited to Nolan's bat-movies) would make for an easy reconciliation imo. Not to mention it would save time casting Oliver if he were to make the roster.
On that, give Adrianne Palicki another go as Diana, since she fits the bill and the abysmal WW pilot was not her fault in any way.

Like you were saying since the tone is so similar to the Nolan movies I believe it could also be a good way to introduce some of the other JL members that haven't had a chance to be introduced yet or at least lays out the template to be used. I'd hate to interupt the flow of the show with guest spots of Flash, Aquaman, WW or Manhunter but since they have 2 years perhaps they can greenlight a few miniseries during Arrow's breaks in showings to introduce the other characters just to give us a taste of what we will be looking at.
Honestly one or maybe two of them (Aquaman or Manhunter) could be introduced in the movie itself without bogging it down but 5 may be a bit much, but I do have faith in Nolan getting it right no matter which way he goes.
I really do love Arrow though. So much better than I thought it would be.

Keep in mind Nolan may not have writing or directorial duties here, he may be something of a quality insurance. WB's bigger problem is finding the hook to these characters. They try to find some 'tone' and build all their movies like that, whereas Marvel Studios build their movies on genre templates; the WW2 movie, the medieval movie, the werewolf movie, etc.
WB doesn't know how to find the hook to make each hero work, so they say 'make it like (most successful work here)'. Then again, having a general tone may make things easier for them - but I think it kills the potential of each character's own movie imo.
My armchair producer approach:
Batman: Gritty, moody. Nolan had this right.
Superman: Wonder, sci-fi. Something Speilbergian, though no offense to what Snyder is doing.
Wonder Woman: Xena with a bigger budget essentially, at least the first half. Then merge that with the 'Man's World' second half.
Green Arrow: Social, streetwise. Similar to the show, but add more of Oliver's class warfare undertones (which the show does allude to).
Green Lantern: Essentially Star Wars. The cartoon knows this, the movie had no clue.

Really don't want to see Bale don the suit again. TDKR ended so perfectly, imo, that bringing Bale back would just ruin it. Even if he's playing a "different" Bruce Wayne, it still cheapens the end of the last one. Give the role to some unknown 20 something whoo csn make it his own and create a new Batman for this new universe. No retreads.

I'm not too worried about the big names. They seem to have a handle on how to handle them. GL I can see them sort of doing like Marvel did with Hulk, just acknowledge the movie but they probably have no more plans for him getting another. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but I think the old Flash tv show would kind of work if they did some minor updating.

Leave Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan (even though I said since day one that he'd have made a better Guy Gardner), but make the GL in the JL movie be John Stewart. That'd solve the "We need a black person in the movie" dilemma. Have a throwaway line or two about the Corps, and problem solved. Should have just brought back the "Superman: Man of Steel" name. Especially since they are doing this to play off of the movie, which happens to be entitled Man of Steel.

"Unchained?" Has Superman ever been successfully 'chained' before to make that adjective fit? I mean, yeah, Clark usually holds back on using the full scope of his powers, but that's because he wants to-- or rather, because he doesn't want to accidentally destroy everything and everyone around him-- and not because someone or something is holding him back against his will.
My guess is they're trying to go with the whole notion that "Oh yeah, now you're gonna see Superman really kick some ass!" At which point I would say that was never the point of the character in the first place.
I still like Scott Snyder and think he can do a good job on the book, but that title really puts a bad taste in my mouth, and doesn't exactly do much to make up for all the other questionable-at-best things they've done with Superman since the reboot.

Up next:
Coming out of Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con, DC Entertainment has announced two new series premiering in June.
First introduced in Flashpoint and teased as an important figure in the "New 52," Pandora receives her own ongoing, monthly title in Trinity of Sin: Pandora. Penned by Eisner and Harvey Awards nominee Ray Fawkes (One Soul, Justice League Dark, Constantine) and illustrated by Daniel Sampere (Batgirl, Justice League Dark), Trinity of Sin: Pandora traces Pandora's personal quest to confront the guilt, pain, and anger associated with her mythic name. An action and horror comic, Trinity of Sin: Pandora will coincide in parallel story developments alongside J.M. DeMatteis' rechristened Trinity of Sin: The Phantom Stranger, originally titled The Phantom Stranger.
Also coming in June, from Vertigo, is Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso's return to the world they created in 100 Bullets with Brother Lono. An eight-part mini-series, Brother Lono centers on Lono along with an entirely new cast of characters. Brother Lono will also feature covers by artist Dave Johnson. Although 100 Bullets ended in 2009, Azzarello and Risso have recently worked together on Vertigo's Spaceman (see "'Spaceman' Hardcover").

Wanted to get back to this topic...
I agree that, in a comic book universe, Bruce Wayne will always be Batman. I think that the only character to don the cowl in any film or tv adaptation should be Bruce and only Bruce.
With that said, the entire DK trilogy was based around Bruce inspiring the city to the point where they no longer needed him to give his body, or his life, to push the city to save itself and not allow the corrupt to run it into the ground. This theme is present in each film.
By TDKR's end, Bruce finally found closure. Batman was finally Gotham's true hero, and, as Alfred said before Bruce suited up again, Bruce gave back to Gotham using more than his body.
To drag that particular take on Bruce Wayne back into a new universe that will be completely different and in no way related to TDK universe cheapens the ending is an excellent trilogy.
Even if it's a different Batman, bringing Bale back is only going to confuse general audiences who think he faked his death and retired. It would make absolutely no sense in any way to use Bale. They should recast, and create a new Batman take that has zero relation to Nolan's interpretation.

Scott Snyder's next big Batman story:
http://i.newsarama.com/images/batman-21-zero-year.jpg
Batman is going back to basics, reports the AP Monday morning, with a nearly year-long story arc called "The Year Zero" starting in June 2013 from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The story takes Bruce Wayne to the very beginning of his career in the New 52, DC Comics' year and a half old relaunched universe, and shows "how Batman became who he is," writer Scott Snyder tells the AP.
"It's not 'let's redo the origin,'" Snyder clarified. The story will focus on how Bruce Wayne figured out how to be Batman, and what challenges he faced when he first wore the cape and cowl.
"We tried to preserve as much of Batman's history as we could," said the writer. He promises this will be a story no one has told before, including how Bruce "built the cave" and "faced off with his first super villain." He also says it won't retread or "take apart" the seminal Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli story "Batman: Year One."
As to who that villain is for this 11-issue storyarc, the writer didn't spill in the initial announcement interview with the AP. However, he may have already let that slip. In a January 2013 interview with Newsarama, Snyder said, "I don't want to give it away, but I tried to hint before that, like, Riddler is a character that we're really going to be focusing on in 2013." Readers may also expect the Red Hood Gang to make an appearance in "The Year Zero," as was teased in 2012 in the pages of Batman.

I cannot believe the show is on its way out the door, but, at the same time, keeping it going just because it's good now doesn't mean they should. Am I the only person who likes Captain Marvel, er, SHAZAM! better than Superman?
Elvis was apparently huge Captain Marvel/Shazam fan, particularly Captain Marvel Jr. He actually designed his spandex jumpsuits that he wore specifically to look more like Cap Jr. So, there's that.

Maybe they will continue it in digital comics. They canceled the monthly print comic, but they could totally go digital.

Brian K. Vaughan has a new limited series called "The Private Eye". It is a sci-fi detective story set in a crazy future world.
It is only available online at http://panelsyndicate.com/
.... and you literally pay anything you want, or nothing at all, to download it.

Dear Cartoon Network…

Last Sunday, my daughter and I settled in to watch the final episodes of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series while enjoying a leisurely breakfast. It’s become a bit of a tradition to catch up on the latest adventures of Razer & Aya (her favorite GL characters) and the newest twists and turns in Artemis and Aqualad’s dangerous subterfuge while munching on a bagel or some oatmeal. I’d been preparing her for quite a while for the unfortunate end of both of her favorite shows, so, after giving her the proverbial two-minute warning that after today, there will be no more new cartoons starring these characters, we fired up the DVR and clicked play.
We made it through Aya’s redemption and eventual demise rather well – better than I’d have expected, to be quite honest. She was a thrown a bit by Razer flying off into the stars in search of the love of his life, but she was able to accept that his story was one we’re unlikely to see since he’s a Red Lantern and the series is called Green Lantern. “Maybe we’ll get a Red Lantern and Aya series, daddy.” “Maybe, hon – you never know!” Now it was time for Young Justice.
A little background: My daughter adores this cartoon. She loves plenty of other shows – Sesame Street (still!!), My Little Pony, Teen Titans, Go! – but the junior Justice League, Artemis especially, have taken up permanent residence in her heart. She spent her own money on the super-fancy Artemis action figure – the only female character we could find in toy form – and she now stands watch over her bedroom. Most seven-year old girls want pretty princesses or Justing Bieber-themed birthday parties. My daughter insisted on a Young Justice cake, which required much Google image searching since the franchise seems to have never been licensed for party supplies. Simply put, she loves her superheroes, and the YJ kids are the best.
http://live.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Sienna_cake.jpg (http://live.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Sienna_cake.jpg)
So, we sit back and enjoy the last stand of the heroes of Earth as they unite against the Reach, aided by the treacherous villains of the Light. My daughter responds to Artemis and Wally West’s romantic kiss in Paris with the requisite “BLECH!!!” She asks why Lex Luthor is helping Young Justice when he’s a bad guy. She forgets she has a mouthful of waffle for a full two minutes during Wally’s heroic death sequence, nearly tearing up when Artemis is told of his sacrifice.
And then we come to the final scene, the big reveal that Vandal Savage has steered War World straight to the fiery pits of Apokalips to strike up an alliance with Darkseid. That’s when the wheels came off the bus.
“You’re wrong, daddy. This isn’t the last Young Justice.”
“I’m afraid it is, Sienny.”
“But that’s DARKSEID! They have to fight Darkseid! I saw him in my books. He’s a bad guy! And it said on the TV that it was a new episode!”
After explaining that the “All-New” bug in the corner of the screen was for the episode we just watched, a conversation that took several minutes because she was convinced – CONVINCED – that I was 110% wrong about the future of her “faaaaavrit” show, she eventually came around to the sad reality that Cartoon Network had taken it off the air.
“Can I write them a letter and ask them please, please, pleeeeease to make more?”
“Of course you can, hon. And yes, we can mail it to them.”
“Can you put it in the computer for them to see, too?”
Absolutely. So, here it is, Cartoon Network. A letter from my daughter, the biggest Young Justice fan I know.

Just got through my March Batman monthly, which is the jumping off point for the next story line following the recent Joker saga.
Why in God's name was Damian Wayne killed? I mean...WHY???? What reasoning behind killing could possibly be sound? Was he not popular? Was he viewed as worse than Jason Todd? I mean, wtf, man. The little I read of Damien, I liked. I just don't get what need there is to kill off a ten year old Robin, the son of Batman, who, for all intents and purposes, should be a killing machine who is near untouchable. Baffling.

Young Justice Fans Survey
Hello Young Justice fans!
While I can't tell you what this is about yet, I can tell you some heavy hitters of the Young Justice creative team will see your answers.
Do your best answer all of these questions as truthfully/honestly as possible. It is very important that we gather accurate data, and your answers will not hurt anybody's feelings. In fact, the more brutally honest you are, the better.
Please spread this survey far & wide. Certainly, reblog, retweet, and share it! Also, personally ask each of your friends in the Young Justice fandom to come here and fill it out. The success of this kind of thing hinges on collecting as much data as possible, and a personal endorsement goes a long way to help with that goal! :)
And just to be clear, this survey is not being conducted by Cartoon Network. Nobody in a management position at Cartoon Network is going to see the raw data from this survey. NEVER THE END
