1) Update to a town in Connecticut planning for a video game "burning" day as the event has been cancelled. The group in charge is claiming victory though since they managed to get people to discuss about violent games even if most of it was towards ridiculing the event itself.

4) Warner Bros announces the next LEGO series game will be called "LEGO Marvel Super Heros" which will include every single hero and villain in the Marvel universe. The game is set for a Fall 2013 release for PS3, Vita, Xbox 360, Wii U, DS, 3DS, and PC.

I think the outrage about the torso statue is purely because it's shaped like the torso of an attractive woman. Slim and model like.
If it were shaped like the torso of an overweight woman, it would likely be seen as a really dark, grotesque joke. If it were the torso of a male of any build, I don't think anyone would care at all.

I don't mind the CDC looking into this so much as the double standard we have running.

The CDC will be far less biased than most of the folks who do research, whi tend to do so with an ax to grind and publish sensationalist links (though the evidence they present doesn't demonstrate the causal links they tend to claim).

So what exactly is the problem with having a reliable body look into the potential effects in a way that really hasn't been done before?

Seems like gamers have the same problem the anti-gamers do: they work backwards from the answer they want and try and justify it.

Why not let a serious organisation do a most likely accurate investigation and possibly clear the air on an issue that has already led to numerous lawsuits, taxpayer expenses, and wasted hours in legislative bodies from town to federal level?

And while we're at it, why not do the same for firearms?

Got a question. I wasn't gonna whip up a new thread because I'd figure I'll get a next post answer. And we kinda don't have a type of "100k replies thread" here on the VG board.

Going for all achievements on 360 on a game. However, there's some attached to some DLC that I do not want to purchase. The question is, does the icon still show up on your completion list when you get all original achievements in a game?

Stupid question it may be, but I'm just don't wanna shell out the points just for full completion.

It may have changed, but the extra points areneeded for full completion once the game is out. I think it even takes away your completion if you had it.

It must have changed fairly recently because when Omega came out for ME3, point total didn't increase, and the icon is still there.

I think I still have credit for Monday Night Combat, but I've got several games where the new achievements seem to have removed my completionist icon, even if I haven't played them.

You would think they wouldn't wanna do it that way, but they do.

I have the same problems with games that have requirements that are multiplayer-only achievements..... sooooooooooooooo annoying!!!

Example: In Borderlands 2 there are in-game challenges (that lead to achievements) that require you to be a passenger of a vehicle and manning the gun while moving, getting X amount of kills on Y enemies.


On a side note, my son decided to grab hold of my disc tray and yank on it this morning before I left for work. Now it doesn't even close all the way. Going to try to realign it without taking it apart, but I managed to get some Torx screwdrivers if I absolutely have to get in there.

No moar Skyrim for a bit..... that makes me sad :(

Dawn guard is okay. Hearthfire is basically a really simplified mine craft.

Dragon born is the best. Takes you well outside of skyrim into a new land.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dawnguard, playing through the Dawnguard story now, actually. If you take the time to take in the game, read the various books around, etc. The DLC has much more substance. If Battlefield gets the annual treatment now that Medal of Honor is done and nothing else replaces it, all EA would do is just have 2 studios in charge similar to what Activision does with CoD. They've already used other studios to work on the non-DICE Battlefield games before.

There's been threads of games that bombed. I was personally hoping it would be decent, at least AvP decent (though I knew shrugging off Rebellion for this game was a no-no). The pics had decent atmosphere but shit, this generation visuals better not be a problem. Cool screen shots don't impress me anymore. Then the vids came and the robotic animation everybody called out was apparent. This simply didn't look like a game that look years to make (in production even before 2009's AvP).

Pretentiously making Horde Mode week-1 DLC, something I think writes itself into an Aliens game and was out-da-box in AvP, wasn't a good move either. Just bad moves all around. Sega's not in a place to be slipping up like this with a franchise like that.

It mirrors me and my brother's thoughts on why the marines in AvP's species deathmatch mode was shockingly fun. The other two races are far and away better than you from a gameplay perspective. All you have is a motion tracker and some source accurate firearms. But it was terrifying in the best way imaginable. The Horde Mode in AvP, which was the marines' exclusive mode, was spot on. All it was ape the trend seen in other shooters, but it was so right in an Aliens game. Like 'take Assassins Creed predatory stealth gameplay and apply to Batman' right.

But alas, we have an Aliens game that doesn't hold up to the games the brand helped spawn. Like the tragic poetry of a bad Starship Troopers game.

Some odd things have been coming up in the Steam database recently, like a few older games that never received PC ports as well as some that are just unexpected. For me, the biggest surprises were:

I think you've got no chance of either console being BC with the massive change in architecture unless they throw additional expensive hardware in.

Bought Half-Life on Steam for £1.75. I played HL breifly on PS2 but I can't remember anything beyond the first little while.

I remember putting 24hrs into RPG Maker 2 (PS2) which translated to about 15mins of gameplay. But shit; I had branching dialogue, a working shop, a boss battle, secret items, and even a mechanic where picking fruit from a private garden sent you directly to jail and taxed for your trouble (something that required a lot of time and Event mixing gymnastics).

Part 3 was eh. I was gonna screw with Fighter Maker 2 as well but I heard it was too limited for the ideas I had back then (more like Fighter Editor). I still should have tried it longer than 30mins, though.

This XP game is from the official site. It's not by Agetec but by someone else. Not sure if it's a new name for Agetec or if they sold the rights to someone else.

RPGMXP seems much more of a "pro" tool in terms of what you have to do but the results can't possibly be better than what we saw on PS1.

I can't access a demo to see how well a game can turn out. I can't even get things to appear in the play test. I genuinely can't figure out how to do anything. I can open menus but no clue what 99% of it means. I can place things on the map but that removes the grass around it unless I place it on another layer but then that doesn't seem to do anything.
I can't add any characters etc. Everything seems to be done through actual coding.

WWE's next game, now running under the 2K Sports label, will indeed be called 'WWE 2k14'. As suspected 2K will allow Yukes to do the heavy lifting, while 2K themselves will supervise THQ's old branch that usually handled the localization and 'WWE-ing' of the product (specifically Visual Concepts who are often on point). It will also launch in the usual Fall time frame. I believe they are on that shit as we speak, and may have something to show next E3.
