This is about the purchase of games designed for the Ooooooooooo-yeah! This was a selling point to consumers and to developers, and has thus far turned out not to pan out. In fact, the fact that people are just playing their already-purchased Android titles might make things worse.

A good chunk of this article is based on the concept of the Ouya's free version model, and how most users have decided to stick with the free versions rather than upgrading to paid versions.

Battlefield 4 has campaign mode. Mirror's Edge will certainly have its story mode. Story modes were added into the Need for Speed series at EA's desire.

The message is that there will no longer be strictly single player games and everything will have online functions of some sort added - which would really seem no different than the last few years of EA's offerings.

I disagree. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Mirrors Edge, Burnout, Need for Speed all had great single player experiences.
